The Army confirms a 28-year-old active-duty soldier opened fire on his fellow service members this morning, injuring five at Fort Stewart in Georgia. General John Lubas offered an update a short time ago. We have identified the alleged shooter as Sergeant Cornelius Radford, an automated logistic sergeant assigned to second brigade combat team. The suspects in custody, a motive is still unknown. President Trump says that after his envoy, Steve Whitkoff's positive. talks in Moscow today. He's opened a meeting with his Russian counterpart about a ceasefire with Ukraine, but Trump's still targeting Russia's trade partners. Trump's imposing another 25% tariff on

Only about 12% of Brazil's exports go to the U.S. Most analysts say its economy will most likely weather the hit. Last week, Trump exempted hundreds of Brazilian goods, including orange juice. and aircrafts, but not Brazil's beef and coffee, which economists say Brazil will most likely be able to find alternative markets. Trump slapped Brazil with a 50% tariff, citing what he says is unfair political persecution of a political ally, former far-right President Jair Bolsonaro, facing charges of plotting a coup. Friends of the Everglades joined with other environmental groups and the Mikasuki tribe and asking the court for an injunction halting operations at the facility, which officials have dubbed Alligator Alcatraz. They say the rush construction of the detention center on the edge of a preserve without hearings, public comment, or an environmental impact statement violates federal law. Officials with Florida and the Trump administration maintain the facility was built and is operated by the state and is uncovered by the federal law. The environmental

Students are using artificial intelligence tools such as chat GPT more than ever. It's affecting how students interact with other type of study materials. NPR Zayana Archie reports that includes textbooks and online study guide websites. Chegg is a company that sells textbooks and offers digital services such as generating fly cards and practice questions. In May, the company laid off 22% of its workforce, partly due to students turning to generative AI. As part of its new strategy, the company is hoping to reach
Starting point is 00:04:05 students who will pay about $20 a month for tools that encourage long-term use and goal-setting. McMillan Learning sells textbooks and e-books and offers quizzes and study guides. It incorporated an AI tool into its paid plan that it began rolling out late last year. McMillan says its tool doesn't give students the answers, but guides them there by using the Socratic method. NPR news. The NASDA closed up 1.2% or 252 points.
