I'm Rachel Martin, host of Wildcard from NPR.
I've spent years interviewing all kinds of people.
And I've realized there are ideas that we all think about, but don't talk about very much.
So I made a shortcut, a deck of cards with questions that anyone can answer, questions that go deep into the experiences that shape us.
Listen to the Wild Card podcast only from NPR.
Live from NPR news, I'm Dale Wilman.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said once again that this country has no intention of recognizing Russian control over any part of its territory.
That comes as President Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin are preparing for a summit without Zelensky this coming Friday.
And Pierre's Greg Myrie reports.
President Zelensky made his position clear in a video on social media.
He said, quote, Ukrainians will not gift their land to the occupier.
He added, we will not reward Russia.
for what it is perpetrated. President Trump announced to hold a summit with Russian leader Vladimir
Putin next Friday in Alaska. Trump is seeking an end to the war in Ukraine and says it could
involve, quote, some swapping of territory. Ukraine is not part of the summit and Zelensky
says no decisions can be made without his country's full participation. Russian forces control
close to 20 percent of Ukraine's territory in the east and south of the country.
NPR News, Kiev. Health officials in Gaza say 20 more Palestinians were shot and killed on Saturday
as they were looking for aid. Also, they say 11 adults died for malnutrition in the past 24 hours.
In Israel, meanwhile, tens of thousands of people protested Saturday over a government plan
for a military takeover of Gaza City. They say the new offensive could put the 50 remaining
hostages in Gaza at risk. Hundreds of people showed up to a rally in Fort Worth on Saturday. They offered
support for Democratic State Representatives in Texas who fled the state capital in Austin to
prevent the passage of newly proposed congressional maps. As Pablo Arroz Pena with member station
KERA reports, the rally called on leaders in states controlled by Democrats to redraw their
own districts to gain an advantage in the midterm elections. The proposed maps in Texas would
potentially give Republicans five new congressional seats. Former U.S. Congressman Beto O'Rourke
says Democrats nationwide shouldn't wait for the maps to be redrawn.
If we do not win a majority, then a Republican majority, those quizzling, corrupt cowards,
they will roll out the red carpet for a third Trump term, and we cannot allow that to pass.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has sued to block O'Rourke from raising funds for the Democratic
representatives who fled the state.
O'Rourke told the crowd Saturday that he has countersued.
In Fort Worth, I'm Pablo Artaos-Bena.
SpaceX Dragon, Splashdown.
We've got four happy Washeddown.
Four astronauts returned to Earth on Saturday after spending five months at the International Space Station.
SpaceX copies Splashdown.
The space capsule parachuted into the Pacific Ocean off the Southern California coast.
Less than a day after leaving the lab, this was the first splashdown involving NASA astronauts in 50 years.

Extreme heat is contributing to explosive wildfire growth in the western U.S. this weekend.
In rural western Colorado, officials say they have had success building fire lines to protect the nearby ranching community from flames.
Colorado Public Radio's Stena Sieg has our reports.
The Lee fire is burning close to the small town of Meeker and is shut down the main highway that leads to it.
But crews have been able to beat the fire back from another vital highway and so far keep the town safe.
Nearby homes and ranches have been evacuated.
The leaf fire is the largest wildfire in the state, and several other blazes are burning
across western Colorado, spurred by hot weather, gusty winds, and persistent drought.
The governor has declared a state of emergency and called in the National Guard to help.
From NPR News, I'm Stina Sieg, in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Detroit Lions Safety, Maurice Norris says he's doing okay.
Morris was taken off the field by ambulance during a pre-season football game with the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night.
The 24-year-old was injured after tackling Falcons running back Nathan Carter and was placed on the backboard as a precaution.
Both teams decided not to finish the game after the accidents.
Fans of Milwaukee Brewers will be offered a new treat at concession stands during Sunday's game.
The item was developed after manager Pat Murphy pulled a pancake from his pocket to share during a television interview.
He says he keeps food in his pockets to eat while he's in the dugout.
The new treat is being called, of course, Murth's Pocket Pancakes.
I'm Dale Wilman and PR News.
