Just days into the new school year, another mass shooting, this time at Minneapolis's
Annunciation Catholic Church.
Authorities say a shooter fired on Catholic school students and teachers as they were praying
during morning mass.
He later turned the gun on himself.
Now, authorities say at least two children are dead, 17 people, most of them children,
injured.
Minnesota Public Radio's John Collins as scribes
church, the side of today's shooting is the center of the neighborhood. People in this neighborhood
say, you know, it's an upper middle class neighborhood in southwest part of Minneapolis,
and, you know, it's relatively quiet. Crime rates are very low. So Annunciation Church was kind of a
monument in this neighborhood. It was a location where festivals happened, where the Boy Scouts met,
that sort of thing. So seeing this happen so close to home, I think, of course, has been really shocking.
Minnesota Public Radio is John Collins reporting the chief of police,
as the shooter was in their early 20s and was armed with a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol.
Authorities believe all were used in the attack.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jacob Fry says, no more thoughts and prayers.
He describes a scourge of gun violence in this country and places of sanctuary in demanding action.
We have seen churches get shot up by horrible actors.
I think the impetus has to be on all of us as leaders to do a whole lot more.
to recognize that we've got more guns in this country than we have people.
Earlier, Governor Mike Walt spoke with President Trump about the investigation.
The President ordered flags on all federal buildings be flown at half staff in tribute to the shooting victims.
In other news, the U.S. now hit a 50 percent terror fund goods from India starting today.
NPR's Rafael NOM reports the import tax will have a big impact on some Indian sectors,
but some of the country's biggest exports to the U.S. are exempted.
President Trump imposed a higher tariff on India because the country continues to buy Russian oil.
But India is not a huge exporter to the U.S. relative to some other trading partners.
Its top exports include textiles and precious gems and jewelry.
The U.S. has exempted some of India's other big exports, including pharmaceuticals and electronics like iPhones.
That means the potential impact of India's.
Indian tariffs on the U.S. consumer could be a little more limited.
But, of course, the effects on Indian exporters would be far more significant.

U.S. stocks have ended the day higher with the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing up nearly 150 points to end the day at 45,565.
The S&P gained 15 points and the NASDAQ was up 45.

Denmark and its semi-autonomous territory of Greenland are formally apologizing for the legacy of forced contraception on Inuit women and girls.
Danish authorities disclosed last year that as many as 4,500 females underwent procedures to receive intrauterine devices or IUDs without their consent or knowledge.
Cases date back to the 1960s. Nearly 150 Inuit women accused.
Denmark of violating their human rights and sued for compensation.
Last week, K-pop Demon Hunters became the third soundtrack in history to land three top
ten hits at the same time.
This week, it goes a step further, and P.R. Stephen Thompson has the story.
K-pop Demon Hunters is now the first soundtrack ever to land four songs in the top ten
at the same time. At number one, Golden by Huntricks.
The music landscape has changed dramatically in the last 15 or 20 years.
Past hit soundtracks staggered the release of their singles,
that made it harder to land many of them in the top 10 at the same time.
Still, the streaming era has produced its own blockbuster soundtracks,
like Enkanto and Barbie.
None of them pulled off four top 10 hits, though.
Leave it to Huntricks and their rivals in Saja Boys to show them how it's done.
