Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Dan Rerun. Republicans released details of their plan midterm convention in Dallas that's scheduled to take place in two weeks. Vice President Vance and President Trump will deliver primetime addresses. NPR White House correspondent Tamara Keith reports Republicans have decided as a way to energize their base. They're promoting President Trump's agenda before the November midterm elections. President Trump and his team have come to believe that he is the key to the midterms, which sounds counterintuitive, given that the president and his policies are deeply unpopular, just 70 days out from the election. But their theory of the case is that the only way Republicans can win is if Republican voters are energized. And the single greatest force in energizing Trump voters is Trump himself. At a press conference, he was asked about the first reported deadly measles cases in the U.S. this year in Pennsylvania. Our advice is that people should get the measles vaccination. There are certain communities and certain religious communities that don't want to do that,

and we want to take care of those kids as well. Few details have emerged about the people who died in Lancaster County. Kennedy accused the Democratic governor, Josh Shapiro, of refusing to share information with federal health authorities. For NPR News, I'm Carrie Sheridan in Tampa. Flash flooding along the border between China and Nepal has left an estimated 160 people dead. Hundreds of others are missing. Experts say an avalanche from a glacier.

Actor Tim Curry, who had a more than 50-year crew, career portraying a gallery of often loony villains on stage and on screen has died in Los Angeles at the age of 80. Two of Curry's best known roles were Dr. Frankenfurter in the cult classic, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the smug concier in the Home Alone 2 movie lost in New York. Curry said he enjoyed playing outrageous characters because he said they were more interesting. After a stroke in 2012, he moved mostly into voice acting.
