Authorities have released the names of the two children gunned down during mass at a Catholic school in Minneapolis. At least one of the 18 people injured in that attack remains hospitalized in critical condition. NPR's Liz Baker has more. Ten-year-old Harper Lillian Moisky was an adored big sister, described as bright and loved by her parents. Michael Burt, whose daughter was one of the fifth graders' closest friends, remembers a lot of giggly sleepovers, makeovers gone wrong, and late-night movies. who gave a heartfelt statement to press outside the church where his son was shot in the torso during a mass that should have been a joyful start to the new school year. Liz Baker and PR News, Minneapolis. Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook is suing President Trump over his attempt to remove her from her job. NPR Sprinkle Ordonez reports of the cage steps up a showdown over presidential authority. President Trump announced earlier this week that he was firing Cook over allegations that she committed mortgage fraud related to two residential properties that she owns, which he described as potentially criminal. But Cook has not been charged criminally. In her lawsuit, Cook is asking the court. to declare Trump's removal order unlawful and void. If Trump replaces Cook, his appointees would make up a majority of the Fed Board.

The case is likely headed to the Supreme Court, and the outcome will have major implications on the independence of the Federal Reserve, as well as the power of the presidency. Franco Ordonez. NPR News. Two firefighters have been arrested by Border Patrol this year while working on one of Washington's largest blazes from member station KUOW, Gustaville Saguerre has the story. David Buenos Díez is a crew boss leading one of a few freelancer teams combating the Bear Goultch fire. Diaz was there when he saw Border Patrol arresting the two firefighters. The teams he works with are composed of visa workers for Mexico, U.S. citizens, and members of the

The communities out, help the forest, and, you know, just protect and serve. The morning of the arrest, Diaz says the lead fire management team sent the men out to cut wood. European Union leaders are expressing outrage over a Russian attack that killed at least 23 people and left dozens more wounded in Kiev. Ukrainian authorities say Russia fired nearly 600 drones and over 300 missiles, many of them landing on a five-story apartment building early Thursday. It's being called the first major attack on the Ukrainian capital since President Trump met with Russian President Putin. France, Germany, and the U.K. say there will reimpose sanctions on Iran. As NPRS. Michelle Kellerman reports, they're trying to pressure Tehran to resume nuclear talks. The letter begins a 30-day clock for UN sanctions to be reimposed on Iran. These are sanctions that were suspended when the Obama administration negotiated a nuclear deal with Iran. The first Trump administration withdrew from that deal,

and Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the Europeans could have started this so-called snapback of sanctions years ago. British Foreign Secretary David Lammy says the Europeans have tried to negotiate in good faith with Iran and the ball is now in Iran's court. The Trump administration, which launched massive airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites in June, is also calling for diplomacy. Rubio says the snapback of UN sanctions does not contradict that.
