Live from NPR News, I'm Giles Snyder. President Trump delivered Wednesday night's keynote address at his Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas, delivering a dark forecast if Republicans fail to retain control of Congress after the midterm elections. If we lose, you're going to lose your border. You're going to lose your tax cuts. You're going to lose your safety and security.

You're going to lose your wealth. Our country is going through hell. you will be going through hell just like you did just two years ago. Trump offered a cash payment to every adult citizen if the Republican Party maintains control of Congress after the election, but he did not provide details about where that money would come from or the legality of such a payment. Earlier in the evening, Democratic Pennsylvania Senator John Federman raised eyebrows appearing at the convention in a short video shot in his home state.

Here's in Piers, Tamara Keith. The video was an introduction for Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania's Republican Senator Dave McCormick, with whom Federman has grown quite close. It was filmed in Pennsylvania with Federman wearing his trademark black hoodie. Right back over my shoulder. That's the iconic U.S. Steel Mill. And that's exactly the kind of thing that will work together and will work with President Trump to fight and defend the Steel Way of Life right here in the Steel Valley. That was as close as he got to praising Trump.

In the short video, Federman mentioned that he's a Democrat multiple times, while also saying he rejects extremes and socialism. Tamara Keith, NPR News, Dallas. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on a swing through three Latin American countries whose leaders are more in line with the Trump administration, and they're all taking a militarized approach to break up drug gangs, as NPR's Michelle Kellerman reports. After visits with the presidents of Colombia and Ecuador, Secretary Ruby, Rubio says he's glad to see right-wing governments ready to join the U.S. fighting against those who he calls narco-terrorists. Otherwise, those groups, those terrorist groups, will eat these countries up. They will become stronger than the governments in these countries.

They will run over these countries. So I'm glad we have leaders in the region that are willing to be strong and take these groups on. He brushed off concerns that fishermen have been killed in some of the U.S. boat strikes. He says the U.S. is going after drug traffickers, not fishermen. and will continue to, quote, blow up ships now working with countries in the region. He delivered a concession speech Wednesday night in Providence after losing his primary to former CVS executive, Helena Fulkes, ending his bid for a second full term. McKee is the first governor in eight years to lose a primary. Colorado, a second excavation at Ziegler Reservoir will happen next summer.
