authorities in Utah believe the suspected gunman captured in connection with Charlie Kirk's assassination acted alone,
but they're still sifting through evidence and conducting interviews to learn as much as they can about why it happened.
NPR's Ryan Lucas says more.
His name is Tyler Robinson. He's 22 years old from Washington, Utah.
Kristen Schwerman is a neighbor.
She said this about Robinson.
He was a smart kid, quiet.
I used to see him out doing yard work all the time when he was younger.
He had a full-ride scholarship, I guess.
Shwerman worked at the local elementary school where Robinson and his brothers went.
She said...
It was a shock that it was him, but I so feel sorry for his mother and his dad,
because that's not how they raised him.
Authorities have not said what might have motivated Robinson to allegedly kill Kirk.

Secretary of State Mark Rubio is in Israel this weekend to discuss Israel's military strength this week
in Qatar, the attack targeted Hamas leaders there for peace negotiations. Rubio spoke with
reporters about expectations for his trip as he boarded a plane at Joint Base Andrews outside
Washington, D.C. I'm going to get a much better understanding of what their plans are moving
forward. What's happened has happened. Obviously, we were not happy about it. The president was not
happy about it. Now we need to move forward and figure out what comes next. Israel's attack on
Qatar sparked international condemnation. Israel's increasing airstrikes in Gaza City, health
officials in Gaza say at least 32 people, including 12 children, have been killed so far this
weekend. The strikes are part of an offensive to take over the city. Israel says the area
is the last remaining stronghold for Hamas. One of the strikes hit a house, killing a family
of 10. More than two years into Sudan Civil War, the U.S. is signing on to an international
proposed roadmap for an end of the fighting. Michael Koloki has more. In a joint statement,
the U.S., Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates are proposing a
a three-month humanitarian troops in Sudan, followed by a permanent ceasefire and a nine-month
transitional process to establish civilian-led governance in the country. It calls on all sides
to facilitate humanitarian access and assistance across Sudan. Since April 2020, when fighting
broke out between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary group the rapid support forces
or RSF, tens of thousands of civilians have been killed. Earlier this week, the U.S. Treasury Department
imposed sanctions on Sudan's finance minister, Jibril,
Abraham, accusing him of undermining a democratic transition for NPR News and Michael Koloki in
Nairobi.
The California legislature has voted to extend that state's cap and trade program through
2045. The program has been a major tool in the state's efforts to meet its climate goals.
The lawmakers also committed funding for high-speed rail systems, affordable housing,
and community air protection programs. You're listening to NPR News.
A march in London, organized by far-right activist Tommy Robinson, turned violence Saturday.
Police say officers were assaulted and cans and bottles were thrown by the crowd.
At least 26 officers were injured and 25 people were arrested.
Robinson, who's known for his nationalist views, said the march was a demonstration for free speech.
The Trump administration is launching a pilot program that it hopes will accelerate the use of vehicles now only dreamed about sometime in the future.
NPR's Sean Delees Duster has more.
The Department of Transportation says a new pilot program through the Federal Aviation
Administration will help test electric flying air taxis that could one day be used for
transportation and emergency response.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says safely testing electric air taxis and other types
of advanced air mobility vehicles can, quote, improve how the traveling public and products move.
The program will include at least five pilot.
projects and will run for three years after the first project is up and running, the
Transportation Department says. At least two aviation companies have said they intend to participate.

The score against the Ohio Bobcats at halftime was 13 to 3, but the Buckeyes used a strong

as time ran out to give the Yellow Jackets a 24 to 21 win over number 12 Clemson,
