Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Shay Stevens. President Trump says he is sending the National Guard and Federal Law Enforcement officers to Memphis, Tennessee.
See. Details from NPR Sprinkle Ordonias.
President Trump signed a proclamation to set up a federal task force to address crime in Memphis.
Trump said the effort would involve members of the National Guard, FBI, ATF, DEA, ICE, and U.S. Marshals.
And it's very important because of the crime that's going on not only in Memphis, in many cities that were going to take care of all of them.
Last month, Trump sought to use emergency powers to take over control of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Department. He deployed National Guard soldiers and sent hundreds of federal law enforcement
officials throughout Washington, D.C. Trump has repeatedly said that he wants to target Chicago next,
but he's faced stiff resistance from the mayor and Illinois governor. Franco, Ordonez.
NPR News, the White House. Some political strategists say that Democrats are trailing Republicans
when it comes to reaching voters on social media platforms like TikTok. As NPR, Sisha
Fifer reports one strategist has a warning for Democratic politicians.
The warning came from a digital agency called Van Ness Creative Strategies that works to elect Democrats.
The agency has told them if they're not comfortable communicating using short online videos, they should retire.
Van Ness notes more than 50% of Americans now get their news from social media and more than 75% in video form.
New York Democratic Congressman Richie Torres, a client of the agency, agrees.
I think if you're either unable or unwilling,
to adapt to new media, then your extinction is not a question of if.
It's a question of when.
Skeptics say a recent Arizona election where a Gen Z TikToker lost by more than 40 points
shows that a big social media following alone does not guarantee political success.

China's government says U.S. chipmaker, NVIDIA, has violated its antitrust law.
NPR's John Ruud's reports that the finding comes as negotiators from Beijing and Washington
wrap up two days of trade talks.
The state administration for market regulation says in a statement, a preliminary investigation
has found that NVIDIA broke China's anti-monopoly law.
It does not give details, but says the California-based company also violated the regulatory
conditions for its 2020 acquisition of a company called Melanox Technologies.
The Chinese regulator says it'll investigate further.
NVIDIA makes the world's most in-demand chips for the development of artificial intelligence.
The U.S. government has banned it from selling China its best chips, though,
and the fate of NVIDIA's business in the world's second-biggest economy has become a political football
as Beijing and Washington wrangle over trade and security issues.

U.S. Mutures are mostly higher in after-hours trading following today's gains.
The Dow added 49 points.

A federal appeals court is blocking the firing of Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook,
allowing her to stay in the job while a legal battle over her dismissal continues.
President Trump wants to fire Cook after a housing official flagged her mortgage application for irregularities.
Cook has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
The Senate has confirmed Stephen Myron to temporarily fill a vacancy on the Federal Reserve Board.
The vote comes days before the central bank holds its next meeting on interest rates.
Myron currently serves as chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisors.
He'll fill a vacancy created last month when Fed Governor Adriana Coogler resigned to
to return to academia. A vaccination campaign is underway in the Democratic Republic of the Congo,
where health officials are trying to contain any Ebola outbreak. As NPR's Jonathan Lambert reports,
the outbreak has sickened at least 68 people, including health care workers. The Ebola outbreak was
declared earlier this month and has so far claimed 16 lives, including four health care workers.
The virus is highly contagious and spreads through close contact with bodily fluids. To try to control the
outbreak, health officials are employing a strategy known as ring vaccination. Here, people in
close contact with sick people, including health care workers, are given the vaccine first to try
to form a ring of immunity around the virus. So far, only 400 doses of the vaccine have been sent
to the remote part of the DRC that's impacted, but the country has a stockpile of 2,000 doses.
