Live from NPR News, I'm Lakshmi Singh.
Officials in Utah are releasing more information about Tyler Robinson.
He's the alleged shooter of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Robinson is not talking with investigators, but police say his roommate is helping authorities.
NPR's Luke Garrett has the latest.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox tells ABC News, Robinson was living with a transgender person.
We can confirm that his roommate was indeed.
a boyfriend who is transitioning from male to female.
Cox says the roommate, along with Robinson's family, are all assisting the authorities
in their investigation.
But the Utah governor says Robinson himself has not admitted to the assassination.
He is not cooperating, but all the people around him were cooperating, and I think that's
very important.
He expects more information to be released Tuesday when the FBI forensic report is filed
in court.
And top of mind for Cox is learning how Robinson, who he says was a 4.0 student from
close-knit family ended up in this situation. Cox also criticized social media companies for stoking
conflict, and he compared their products to fentanyl. Luke Garrett, NPR News, Washington.
President Trump is suggesting that his administration has reached an agreement with China on the
social media app TikTok. NPR's Franco Ordonez reports Trump is expected to speak with Chinese
President Xi Jinping later this week. President Trump posted on social media that a weekend meeting
between the United States and China went very well.
He wrote a deal was reached on, quote, a certain company that young people in our country
very much wanted to save.
TikTok is facing a deadline this week to either divest its U.S. business or face a shutdown
of the social media app in the country, though Trump was expected to extend the deadline
as he has several times before.
Trump said he would be following up with President Xi on Friday.
He did not give specifics on the deal, but,
said that young people will be very happy.
Trump has repeatedly credited TikTok with helping him do better with the young vote.

Well, the U.S. markets are waiting to see whether the Federal Reserve lowers interest rates
and by as much as President Trump wants.
The Fed holds its latest policymaking meeting tomorrow through Wednesday under heavier scrutiny.
Here's NPR Scott Horsley.
The Fed is widely expected to order its first interest rate cut of the year this week in an effort to
shore up the sagging job market. The Senate is set to vote this evening on President Trump's
latest pick to serve on the Fed's governing board. If he's confirmed, White House economist
and Trump ally Stephen Myron could join the Fed meeting, which begins tomorrow. It's still
not clear whether Fed Governor Lisa Cook will take part in the meeting. A federal judge
temporarily blocked Trump's effort to remove Cook from the board, but the administration's
asking an appeals court to reverse that decision by this afternoon. Scott Horsley,

Windsor Castle is preparing for President Trump's state visit to the United Kingdom this week.
It'll be his second.
King Charles III is expected to welcome Trump with royal pomp in ceremony, including horse-drawn carriages in a state banquet in the name of diplomacy.
The UK is seeking stronger ties with the Trump administration whose policies have tested Britain and other European allies on matters of trade and
security. At the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, a number of winning actors were also first-time
nominees. NPR's Netta Ulibe has that story. Emmy newcomers included Catherine Lanasa for playing
a good-natured charge nurse on HBO's hospital show The Pit, and Jeff Hiller as a sweet-natured best
friend on somebody somewhere on the same network. Thank you to HBO for putting a show about
sweaty middle-aged people on the same network as the sexy teens of euphoria. Are their first-time
Winners included two actors on the Apple Plus show Severance.
Britt Lauer won for Best Lead Actress, and Trammell Tillman became the first black man to win Best Supporting Actor for Drama.
And as my mama would say, ooh, look at God.
Another first-timer?
15-year-old Owen Cooper, who won for Best Supporting Actor in the Netflix series Adolescence.
He's one of the youngest Emmy winners in history.
Netta Ulibee, NPR News.
The Pitt won the Emmy for Best Drama Series, and the studio was honored as best
comedy series. At last check on Wall Street, the Dow is down, nine points at 45,825. The S&P gained 29 points,
