Starting point is 00:00:00 Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Shea Stevens. The Trump administration is linking autism to acetaminophen, a key ingredient in Tylenol. As NPR's Yuki Noguchi reports, the administration is also suggesting pregnant women should not use the painkiller. President Trump cautioned pregnant women against the common pain killer. So taking Tylenol is not good. I'll say it. It's not good. Many physicians groups and autism advocates called the administration's claims potentially dangerous, saying research is far from conclusive and that fever during pregnancy can also be dangerous.
Starting point is 00:00:42 But the administration is forging ahead, saying it will direct the Food and Drug Administration to change labeling to discourage the use of the acetaminopin during pregnancy. It will also change labeling to use folinic acid to treat autism, despite scant scientific support for that claim. 2. Yuginaguchi, NPR News. ABC has lifted its suspension of Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show. NPR's Anastasia Sealkis reports that the comedian is set to return to the airwaves tomorrow night. In a written statement, Disney, ABC's parent company, says, quote,
Starting point is 00:01:17 we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. Critics of the administration have said Kimmel's suspension was an attack on free speech. ABC suspended Kimmel last Wednesday under pressure from the Trump administration after Kimmel criticized conservative responses to the assassination of political activist and close Trump ally Charlie Kirk. Disney says it is reinstating Kimmel after, quote, thoughtful conversations with Jimmy. Anastasy Aze Olucus and PR News, New York.

Prosecutors presented 38 witnesses who detailed what they say was Ruth's assassination attempt against the then-presidential candidate while he was golfing at his West Palm Beach Club. Ruth's main defense witness, a former Marine sniper, testified that when he test fired the SKS-style rifle left at the scene several months later, it malfunctioned. Prosecutors attributed that to the effects of acid used by investigators to recover the guns obliterated serial numbers. When Ruth asked
Starting point is 00:02:35 his witness whether the rifle would be able to hit a target 375 yards away, the former Marine sniper said, depending on the skill of the shooter, yes. Greg Allen, NPR News, Fort Pierce, Florida. On Wall Street stocks close higher today with the Dow Jones Industrial's rising 66 points, the NASDA Composite Index jumped to 157. The S&P 500 added 29. Starting point is 00:03:08 The ruling affects Rebecca Slaughter, who is the last remaining Democrat at the FTC, at issue as a nearly century-old policy that barred presidents from firing the heads of federal regulatory agencies over political disagreements. The High Court says it will hear arguments over the matter in December. A cyber attack is disrupting operations for a fourth straight day at several major European airports.
Starting point is 00:03:33 As Terry Schultz reports, the attack has been identified as a ransomware demand. Brussels Airport remains the location still experiencing the most disruptions with automated check-in and boarding systems shut down. Dozens of incoming and outgoing flights have been canceled, and the airport said there would still be problems Tuesday. Airport officials have been using laptops and iPads to check in passengers, sometimes with handwritten boarding passes. London's Heathrow and Berlin were also affected over the weekend
Starting point is 00:04:03 by the attack on Collins Aerospace, headquartered in Iowa, which provides automated check-in and boarding. The European Union's Cybersecurity Agency and NISA said law enforcement authorities are investigating the ransomware attack but did not give details about who. who's responsible.
