President Trump has authorized 300 National Guard troops to Chicago, where the Department of Homeland Security says officers in a neighborhood on the south side of the city shot an armed woman and injured her on Saturday. As Israel and Hamas inched towards a peace agreement, there's cautious optimism that the Trump administration's proposal could finally bring an end to the war, but the conditions in Gaza remain desperate. And Perez Michael Levitt reports. Humanitarian organizations say that the need for aid corridors to the besieged territory remains urgent. It's been over a month since famine was declared in Gaza. Center-right Prime Minister Petrofiela conceded defeat but vowed continued activism. I will not give up the fight against populism and extremism, who told supporters, I'm not giving up the fight. A Czech online research group found hundreds of anonymous TikTok accounts were getting millions of views for pro-Russian anti-government posts in the run-up to the vote. Starting point is 00:03:29 to mourn the loss of two migrants killed in last month's shooting outside the Dallas Ice Field Office. From member station KERA, Priscilla Rice reports the message was to remember the victims. The vigil included remarks from community activists, a prayer, and candles to honor the victims. Norland Guzman Fuentes from El Salvador died in the attack, and Miguel Angel Garcia Hernandez from Mexico died almost a week later from his injuries. Immigration attorney Eric Sedillo represents Garcia's wife. He told the audience much of the focus following the shooting has been on law enforcement. But the reality of this shooting was that the
Starting point is 00:04:09 victims are the names right over there and the families that they've left behind. A third man, Jose Andres Bordones Molina of Venezuela, was injured in the shooting and moved to a detention center after his release from the hospital. For NPR news, I'm Pris. In London, police there say nearly 500 people were arrested during Saturday's demonstration and Chafalgo Square aimed at showing support for a pro-Palestinian group that has been prescribed and banned by the government in July. The UK government identified Palestine action as a terror organization after people associated with the group sprayed red paint on military aircraft. city officials had urged protesters not to attend the rally in central London, especially days after a deadly attack at a synagogue in Manchester.
