President Trump is on his way to Asia.
He left the White House late last night, telling reporters that he's looking forward to his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
We want to take care of our farmers.
We have a lot to talk about with President Xi, and he has a lot to talk about with us.
I think we'll have a good meeting.
Trump's face-to-face meeting with President Xi is set for next week in South Korea as trade tensions escalate after Trump.
Trump threatened new 100% tariffs on Chinese products starting on November 1st.
That's after China imposed new export controls on rare earth minerals used in technology.
Trump's first stop, however, is in Malaysia, where he will attend the annual summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Trump is also expected to visit Japan.
Venezuelan leader, Nicolas Maduro, is accusing the U.S. of, in his words, fabricating a new war.
the U.S. is sending an aircraft carrier and its strike group to the waters off South America
after conducting 10 air strikes on vessels the Trump administration accuses of carrying drugs.
Maduro has repeatedly accused the U.S. of attempting to drive him from power.
Tensions also rising between the U.S. and Venezuela's neighbor, Colombia.
President Trump has accused Colombian leader Gustavo Petro of being an illegal drug dealer.
The U.S. is sanctioning Petro, his family, and his foreign minister.
They're being accused of being involved in the drug.
trade, as Julia Carnaro reports.
The sanctions were imposed against Colombian president Gustavo Petro, his wife, his son,
and one of his ministers.
In a statement, Treasury Secretary Scott Besson said Petro has, quote, allowed drug cartels
to flourish and refused to stop this activity and that the U.S. would not tolerate the trafficking
of drugs into its territory.
Petro replied on social media, saying it was a paradox to face this measure after years of
fighting drug trafficking and helping to curb cocaine consumption.
consumption in the U.S.
Colombia is a major U.S. ally, but the U.S. strikes destroying vessels in South American
waters have led to growing tension between the countries.

A federal appeals court decision allowing President Trump to send National Guard troops into
Portland is now on pause from Oregon Public Broadcasting, Dirk Vanderhart reports.
On Monday, a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled President
Trump could deploy National Guard troops to the city.
But on Friday, the Ninth Circuit froze that order until at least next Tuesday.
The court said it needs more time to decide whether a larger group of judges should take up the case.
The continuing legal battle over the president's authority to send in the guard began in late September.
That's when Trump ordered 200 Oregon National Guard troops into Portland after months of protests outside a U.S. immigration and customs enforcement facility.
To date, no National Guard troops have been deployed in the city.

and forecasters warn of more to come this weekend in the lower Mississippi River Valley.
In the Pacific Northwest, expect gusty winds, heavy rain, and higher elevation snow linked to an atmospheric river storm.
Washington, D.C. police chief Pamela Smith is promising a beefed-up police presence
for Howard University's homecoming activities this weekend.
following a shooting near campus last night.
This is Howard's homecoming and most of the homecoming festivities around our cities,
our joyous occasions for our families to come out and enjoy a good time.
We have alumni.
We have people coming from across the United States to attend.
Police say the four adults and a juvenile who were injured are not Howard students.
Two suspects are in custody.
Game one of Major League Baseball's World Series involving the Los Angeles Dodgers
and the Toronto Blue Jays ended with a big win for Toronto.
So Steve Futterman has more from that.
It's a Toronto blowout here in game one as the Blue Jays beat the heavily favored Dodgers, 11 to 4.
Los Angeles jumped out to a 2-0 lead after three.
The Blue Jays tied at 2-2, though, in the fourth.
Then in the 6th, Toronto blew the game open with nine runs, the Big Blow,
a grand slam home run by Addison Barger.
The Dodgers' great designated hitter, Shohei Otani, did hit a two-run homer,
but at that point, the Dodgers were trailing by nine runs.
