Israeli military spokesman Daniel Haggari is describing Israel's retaliatory strikes against
military targets in Iran overnight as precise, saying Israel completed three waves of targeted
attacks and that all of its warplanes returned safely.
Like every other sovereign country in the world, the state of Israel has the right and
the duty to respond. Our defensive and
offensive capabilities are fully mobilized. We will do whatever necessary to defend the
State of Israel and the people of Israel.
Speaking in a video statement, Higare said the strikes were part of Israel's response
to attacks from Iran and its proxies in the region, including the barrage of missiles Iran fired earlier this month.
The White House is warning Iran against retaliation, saying the Israeli strike should end direct
attacks between Israel and Iran.
Former President Donald Trump showed up three hours late to his rally in Michigan last night.
The delay came after he taped a lengthy interview with a popular podcaster.
NPR Stephen Fowler has more.
Trump talked with Joe Rogan for almost three hours Friday in a freewheeling interview that
covered little new ground.
He rehashes negative views towards immigration, his opponents, his 2020 election loss, and
polling that doesn't show him winning.
You know how polls are done?
Oh, I'm going to get myself in trouble.
So I really don't believe too much in him.
In Traverse City, Michigan, a tired-sounding Trump apologized for showing up three hours late,
saying the interview was important because he's trying to win.
There, too, he spoke in dire language about immigrants and the stakes of the election.

Trump is set to hold another event in Michigan today as voters there
begin casting ballots. Michigan's early voting period starts today. Kamala Harris
will also be campaigning in Michigan appearing with Michelle Obama in
Kalamazoo. Last night in Houston, Texas Harris rallied supporters at Shell
Stadium alongside Beyonce. The crowd also cheered for congressman Colin Allred,
who's challenging Texas Senator Ted Cruz as Democrats try to flip the seat blue this year.
And Paris Deepak Sivaram was there.
The crowd of 30,000 was chanting, beat Ted Cruz, as Allred spoke. Democrats haven't held a Senate seat in Texas in 30 years.
But this year, with reproductive rights front and center in the race, they may have a chance.
Harris was in Houston to support Allred and to focus her campaign in the final days on the issue of abortion access.
She spoke about what women and mothers have gone through and also how it affects men.
Men across America do not want to see their daughters and wives and sisters and mothers
put at risk because their rights have been taken.
Beyoncé was the special guest at the rally and introduced Harris, and before her, women who have
been denied reproductive care in Texas told their stories on stage. Deepa Shivaram, NPR News, Houston.
This is NPR. This evening's game two of Major League Base baseball's world series follows last night's dramatic game one finish.
Swing and a drive! Great field! On its way!
Gone! Ball game! A walk off grand slam!
Freddie Freeman and the Dodgers take game one! Holy cow!
John Shamby with the call for ESPN radio.
The Los Angeles Dodgers were down to just one out when Freddie Freeman hit that first
hit the first walk off Grand Slam in World Series history, handing the Dodgers a 63 victory
over the New York Yankees, game two set for the evening in LA.
A NASA astronaut hospitalized after returning from the International Space Station early Friday morning. Central Florida public media's Brendan Byrne reports the
space agency says the unidentified astronaut is in stable condition and under observation
as precautionary measure.
Three U.S. astronauts and a Russian cosmonaut splashed down off the coast of Pensacola,
Florida after 235 days in space. The group was part of NASA's SpaceX Crew 8 mission.
NASA says the re-entry and splashdown were without incident, but during a routine medical
assessment after the splashdown, a medical evaluation of the crew members was requested.
All four were transported to a hospital in Pensacola. After evaluation, three crew members
departed and arrived at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. NASA says the one crew member that remains under observation at the hospital has not been named to protect
the person's medical privacy and identity. For NPR News, I'm Brendan Byrne in Orlando.
And I'm Joel Snyder. This is NPR News.
