The presidential campaigns are focusing on key swing states this weekend.
Kamala Harris will be in Philadelphia today after campaigning in Michigan yesterday with
former First Lady Michelle Obama.
The joint appearance was the first time the two have appeared together on the trail as
Harris focuses her campaign on reproductive rights.
NPR's Deepa Sivaraman reports.
In Kalamazoo, Obama said people were holding Harris
and her opponent, former President Trump,
to different standards.
She also spoke at length directly to men
about how further limits and restraints
on access to women's healthcare
would impact them and their sons too.
So I am asking y'all from the core of my being to take our lives seriously.
Please. Her remarks echoed what Harris has been saying over the weekend as she
tries to increase support from men who are favoring Trump over her. Deepa
Shivaram, NPR News, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Former President Donald Trump will be in
New York City to rally supporters at Madison Square Garden this evening after For more, visit our website at www.cdc.gov. For more, visit our website at www.cdc.gov.

unprecedented peace and prosperity. Earlier in the day, Trump spoke at a rally outside Detroit,
where he and Harris are battling for support from voters that include Michigan's large Arab and
Muslim population concerned about the war in Gaza. President Biden says
he hopes the Israeli strikes on military targets in Iran early Saturday is the end of it. He
spoke to reporters while he was on his way to a campaign event in Pittsburgh, saying
the White House got a heads up before the strikes, and remarks today Iran's supreme
leader stopped short of calling for retaliation. Activists say hundreds of people in southeast Sudan have been killed in the past several
days by the paramilitary group that's at war with Sudan's army.
MPR's Emmanuel Akinwotu has more.
More than 400 people have been killed over the last week by fighters from the Rapid Support
Forces or RSF, according to emergency response volunteers.
The massacres took place in villages in Al Jazeera state, an agricultural region in Sudan.
The attacks are widely believed to be reprisals after the RSF's commander in the region
defected to the Sudanese army earlier this month.
The army said it had taken control of the region following several months where it was
controlled by the RSF.
But since then, the paramilitary group has launched violence against communities in Al Jazeera, sparking outrage at the atrocities
and anger at the military for failing to prevent them.

The ruling party in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia is claiming victory in this weekend's parliamentary election.
Electoral officials there say the party has received more than 54 percent of the vote.
One opposition leader calls the results a constitutional coup.
Voters in Japan are deciding the fate of the government of Prime Minister Shiroishibo's coalition government today. Opinion polls suggest the coalition could lose its parliamentary
majority amid financial scandals and discontent over the economy. Voters are also going to
the polls today in Bulgaria and Uruguay. In Los Angeles, the LA Dodgers beat the New York
Yankees 4-2 last night to take a two-games-to-none lead in baseball's best of seven World Series.
But there is concern about Dodger star Shohei Otani,
who suffered a shoulder injury.
Steve Futterman was at last night's game.
The injury to Shohei Otani occurred in the seventh inning
as he was attempting to steal second base.
Otani was called out,
but stayed on the ground in obvious pain.
LA manager Dave Roberts says Otani appears
to have suffered a partial dislocation.
Some initial tests, he says, were performed on the shoulder.
The strength was great.
The range of motion good.
So we're encouraged.
Roberts says he's optimistic Otani will play in game three on Monday.
Meanwhile, in game two, the Dodgers jumped out to a 4-1 lead, then had to hold off the
Yankees in the ninth when New York loaded the bases with just one out.
