Earlier this week, the Senate passed a similar resolution that would end President Trump's tariffs on Brazil. The House is not expected to take up these measures. Today's confirmation hearing for U.S. Surgeon General nominee Casey Means has been postponed. A spokesperson for the Senate Health Committee tells Bloomberg News that Means, who is pregnant, has gone into labor.

As Oregon Public Broadcasting's Conrad Wilson reports, it's the first indication National Guard troops were deployed in the state. The revelations came as a federal trial about the president's authority to deploy the National Guard got underway in Portland. According to email summarizing the federal response, nine members of the Oregon National Guard were sent, to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Facility in South Portland in early October. The e-mails show the Guard members began their, quote, First Support Mission on October 4th, and were set to finish at midnight. The same afternoon, while they were at the ICE building,
