Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Shea Stevens. Vice President Kamala Harris continues to
campaign in the
swing states, urging her supporters to vote early if possible. As NPR's Tamara Keith
reports, the race for president is now in a full-on sprint.
At a get-out-the-vote rally in Madison, Wisconsin, Harris said there is hard work. Hard work. Hard work is good work.
Hard work is joyful work.
And make no mistake, we will win.
And for Harris, that means back to back days with multiple stops in multiple states.
She'll campaign in Phoenix, Reno, and Las Vegas today.
Former President Trump is campaigning out west as well.
Polls show the race remains incredibly close in all seven swing states.

Former President Donald Trump has seized on the controversy over his rally in
Madison Square Garden, where some speakers made racist comments and a comedian called Puerto Rico garbage.
In a call to a Latino nonprofit on Tuesday, President Biden made remarks that some critics
say suggest that Trump supporters are garbage.
Trump mentioned the remark last night at a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
My supporters are far higher quality than Crooked Joe or Lion Kamala.
Vice President Kamala Harris says that she opposes criticizing any American because of
who they vote for.
North Korea is claiming that its test launched another intercontinental ballistic missile.
From Seoul, NPR's Anthony Kuhn reports that it would be the North's first ICBM test since
last December.
The South's Joint Chiefs of Staff says the missile was launched eastward at a steep angle
from somewhere around the capital Pyongyang.
In a statement, U.S. National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savitt condemned the launch
as a flagrant violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions.
He added that the U.S. will take all necessary measures to ensure the security of the U.S. homeland, South Korea, and Japan. South Korea's Defense Intelligence
Agency told lawmakers Wednesday that the North was preparing for an ICBM test and possibly
a seventh nuclear test too. The agency said that in addition to testing the weapons capabilities,
the North might also be trying to get U.S. attention ahead of elections next month.

The defense secretary Lloyd Austin and his South Korean counterpart are expressing concerns
about the presence of North Korean troops in Russia.
At a joint Pentagon appearance Wednesday, Austin suggested that Russian President Putin
is using the North to obtain support for his war in Ukraine. Pyongyang has reportedly sent roughly 10,000 troops to Russia,
some of them reportedly already moving toward the border with Ukraine.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have won their eighth World Series championship after defeating
the New York Yankees in Game 5.
Steve Futterman was there.
The celebration goes on here at Yankee Stadium.
The Dodgers overcome a remarkable five-run deficit to win game five and win the World Series.
New York jumped out to a five nothing lead, but in the fifth inning, two Yankee errors
opened the door for the Dodgers.
The Dodgers tied the game five five and then in the eighth inning Los Angeles took the
lead and right now the Dodgers are being presented with the World Series trophy.
