The presidential candidates are visiting several states to date a campaign. Vice President Kamala Harris goes to Phoenix. She'll head later to Nevada. Former President Donald Trump will stop in New Mexico today, Nevada, and in Arizona.
Starting point is 00:00:34 Trump climbed into the cab of a garbage truck while traveling in Green Bay, Wisconsin yesterday. He is doubling down on references to, quote, garbage that both sides are still talking about. NPR's Franco Ordonius reports on how Trump is looking to use the issue in his favor. Former President Donald Trump walked off his plane, put on an orange reflective vest and hopped into the passenger seat of the truck, which is painted with the Trump campaign logo and Trump flag. How do you like my garbage truck? This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden.

In the meantime, the White House spent much of the day trying to clarify a remark made by President Biden, seemingly referring to Trump supporters as, quote, garbage. Biden says he was calling out those who, quote, demonize Latinos after a comedian performing at Trump's New York City rally referred to Puerto Rico as a floating island of garbage. Starting point is 00:01:40 That's according to a person familiar with her plans who spoke on the condition of anonymity and beers deepest shibram has more The HBCU is a personal location for Harris who often talks about the impact Howard had on her identity And her desire to become a lawyer Howard is where she pledged her sorority alpha kappa alpha and when Harris launched her first presidential campaign back in 2019 She made the formal announcement from Howard. Harris is the first vice president to have graduated from a historically black college or university, and if elected, she'll make history again. Harris has included the university in her campaign in a number of ways. She camped out at Howard for debate prep in August

South Korea's military says the missile was launched eastward at a steep angle. Japan's government says the flight time of 86 minutes is a record for a North Korean

South Korean military intelligence said Wednesday that the North was preparing for such a launch, possibly in order to get the US's attention as it prepares for presidential elections.
