Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Dan Ronan.
With three days to go until Election Day, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris spent Friday
in Wisconsin, a battleground state, with 10 electoral votes.
At a rally in Milwaukee, Trump criticized Friday's Labor Department report that showed
the U.S. economy added 12,000 jobs in October, well below economists' expectations, even
as the unemployment rate remained at
a record 4.1 percent.
So in breaking news, the economy created a pitiful, you won't even believe this, the
economy stinks.
Vice President Harris was holding her own rally just a few miles away from the Trump
event.
She told supporters she believes that voters should take seriously Trump's rhetoric that many Democrats and some Republicans say
makes him unfit to be president.
And the man is out for unchecked power.
And look, in less than 90 days, it's either going to be him or me in the Oval Office. Yeah!
Both candidates will spend the weekend
in the critical battleground space states.
House Speaker Mike Johnson is clarifying his remarks
after saying Friday that Republicans probably
will try to repeal the multi-billion dollar chips act
that is revitalizing the semiconductor industry.
Democrats pounced on his remarks,
and hours later
he walked them back. Reforming that because it is so important for national
security and in on-shoring chip manufacturing here, this district being
central to that, we want to do that. You'll have 100% agreement by President Trump and
all the Republicans in Congress. What we opposed to in that bill was
that it had too much crammed into it and you had the Green New Deal stuff. Johnson made the original remarks at a campaign event for a House member whose district is
expected to get a new computer chip manufacturing plant.
In the Middle East, Israeli forces damaged the offices of the UN agency in charge of
the Palestinian affairs in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
But the Israeli military issued a statement denying responsibility, as we hear from NPR's
Kat Lonsdorf in Tel Aviv.
The damaged offices belong to the UN aid agency for Palestinians, or UNRWA, in the Nureshamps
camp in the West Bank.
The Israeli military raided the camp during what it called a quote, counter-terrorism
operation.
The head of UNRWA, Felipe Lazzarini, tweeted
that Israeli forces bulldozed the offices beyond use, which he says were a hub for basic
services for more than 14,000 Palestinians in the camp. In a statement, the Israeli military
denied Lazzarini's account, saying that quote, terrorists planted explosives near the offices,
which were then detonated. Relations between Israel and UNRWA have been increasingly strained.
Israeli parliament voted earlier this week to ban the organization, which would severely
impact aid in both Gaza and the West Bank.

More than 200 people are reported dead in Spain after flash floods swept through
the region of Valencia. Crews are in the third day of removing tons of mud and
debris in what's being called the worst natural disaster in Spain's recent
history. An unspecified number of people are also reported missing. Downtown Los
Angeles was packed on Friday. The city celebrated the Dodgers World Series win
against the New York Yankees.
It was the team's eighth World Series win overall.
NPR's Kelly McIvers has more.
Dodger fans haven't had a World Series parade since 1988.
They won the World Series in 2020,
but because of COVID, there was no parade.
Daniel Rodriguez says that's what made this parade special.
I know we won in 2020.
It felt good.
I loved it.
But we didn't get to do all this, you know?
LA officials estimated 200,000 people attended this parade.
The team ended the celebration at Dodger Stadium.
LA Mayor Karen Bass said she'll be mailing a Dodgers jersey to New York City Mayor Eric Adams as part of a bet
she won. Kelly McEvvers, NPR News, Los Angeles. The Federal Reserve's Open
Market Committee will meet next Thursday and Wall Street traders are expecting
the panel to cut interest rates by a quarter of a point. If that happens it
would be the second interest rate cut in the last quarter of a point. If that happens, it would be the
second interest rate cut in the last month and a half. Policymakers cut interest rates
by half a point in September as inflation cooled and the job market remained stable.
