Live from NPR News, I'm Lakshmi Singh.
Former President Donald Trump has just cast his ballot in West Palm Beach, Florida.
He told reporters afterward that he's confident his supporters won't get violent if the race
doesn't go his way.
I don't have to tell them that there'll be no violence.
Of course there'll be no violence.
My supporters are not violent people.
I don't have to tell them that.
I certainly don't want any violence, but I certainly don't have to tell them. These are violent people. I don't have to tell them that. And I certainly don't want any violence,
but I certainly don't have to tell. These are great people. These are people that believe in no
violence. Many pro-Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol January 6, 2021, as Congress was
carrying out its duty of certifying the results of the 2020 election that President Biden won.
Since then, Trump has maintained without evidence
that the election was rigged.
Today, National Guard troops across the country
are on standby just in case there is unrest.
Vice President Harris spoke to the Big Tigger morning show
on V103 in Atlanta this morning.
She's telling people who have yet to vote
that her vision's focused on progress
and her opponent's is not.
My opponent, he has a very different perspective on it all.
He will walk into the Oval Office if he were elected with his enemies list.
He's full of vengeance, he's full of grievance.
It's all about himself.
When I walk in on January 20th, I'll walk in with my to-do list on behalf of the American
people.
Grant Blankenship of Georgia Public Broadcasting was at a voting site in Makin, Georgia earlier today.
He has more.
The economy is a top issue for many Georgia voters.
Page and Jonathan DeCombs are among those worried about costs for their family
as they left their voting precinct site in Makin. This is Page.
I know when we lived during Trump's presidency, everything was much lower.
Groceries were lower, gas
was lower.
So I'm just hoping to see that come down.
At the same poll, Marion Simmons says he trusts Kamala Harris to protect Social Security and
to be a good leader.
Somebody's going to take care of them, not they say.
Donald Trump, he's going to take care of himself.
Georgia began Election Day after record-shattering early voter turnout.
For NPR News, I'm Grant Blankenship in Macon, Georgia.
Now, a member's elected president will need Congress to advance their agenda.
All 435 seats in the House and 34 in the Senate are up for election.
Among the Senate races to watch in Pennsylvania, Democrat Bob Casey's fending off a challenge
from Republican businessman David McCormick.
Another's in Montana. Three term Democrat John Tester is facing Trump back Republican Tim Sheehy. And in Texas,
Republican Senator Ted Cruz is fighting an underdog challenge from Democratic representative Colin
Allred. No Democrat has won statewide office in Texas in 30 years, but demographics are shifting
in large part by a surging Latino population.
Democrats see as a plus for their party.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 446 points, more than 1% at 42,239.

According to the latest NPR-PBS News Marist poll, 19% of likely voters say the issue of
immigration is top of mind. Here's NPR Sergio Martinez Beltran.
When President Biden took office in 2021, he reversed many of President Trump's harshest
immigration policies. But last year, unauthorized crossings at the southern border neared 300,000,
a record high.
This, along with pressure from Republicans and a shift in public opinion, pushed Biden
to severely restrict asylum at the border. That's a policy that has reduced the number
of unlawful migrants, but mirrors a policy by Trump. All of this has contributed to voters
saying immigration is one of the most pressing issues. If Trump wins, he's promised
mass deportations. Harris has promised to ask Congress to pass the bipartisan border
security bill that Trump opposed. Sergio Martinez Beltran, NPR News, Eagle Pass, Texas.
Striking machinists at Boeing voted to accept a contract offer from the aircraft maker.
Here's NPR's Joel Rose.
The agreement was approved by 59% of union members who voted.
It includes a 38% raise over four years, more than the company's initial offer of 25%, though
still short of the 40% the union wanted.
The union district president John Holden hailed the agreement as a victory.
Still some members expressed disappointment.
Many are still angry about losing their traditional pension plans in the last round of bargaining ten years ago. Boeing refused to budge
though it did agree to pay more into workers 401k plans. Machinists could be
back on the job at Boeing's factories as soon as Wednesday.
