A Southwest Airlines flight was hit by a bullet Friday evening while it was preparing for takeoff at Dallas' Love Field.

No injuries were reported. Police are investigating that incident.
As President-elect Donald Trump continues to announce picks for his cabinet, newly elected Senate Majority Leader John
Thune says the legislative body will be working hard to quickly
confirm those appointments.
The president got a big mandate.
The American people want change in this country.
They're tired of the Biden-Harris-Schumer agenda.
And they want President Trump to fix some things.
And he wants to get a team in place that can do that.
And we're going to work with him to see that he gets his team installed as quickly as
possible so he can implement his agenda.
Soon was speaking on Fox News, Trump meanwhile named 27 year old Caroline
Levitt to serve as his press secretary. She'd be the youngest White House press
secretary in history. North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum meanwhile has been
nominated to be the country's next Interior Secretary. He will also lead a
newly created National Energy Council.
NPR's Kurt Siegler reports that Trump is pushing to fast-track energy development on public
and private lands.
Trump has tapped North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum to lead the Department of Interior,
which manages roughly a fifth of all the land in the U.S.
The president-elect also wants Burgum to lead a newly formed National Energy Council
that will oversee all U.S. regulatory and permitting agencies with an eye toward fast-tracking
everything from oil and gas drilling to renewable projects.
Bergham is also expected to sit on Trump's powerful National Security Council.
In a press release, Trump takes a swipe at the outgoing Biden administration and its
climate goals, which he says stifled drilling
on federal land.
But last year under Biden, federal data
showed the US actually produced more crude oil
than any other country ever.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke by phone on Friday
with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It was the first time for them to talk in two years,
as NPR's Rob Schmitz reports.
He urged Putin to end his escalating war with Ukraine.
According to a government spokesman, Shultz was on the phone with Putin for an hour.
The chancellor condemned Russia's war on Ukraine, criticizing Russia's recent airstrikes on
Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, and pointed out that the deployment of North Korean troops
in Ukraine would lead to a serious escalation of the conflict. Schultz also called on Putin to end the conflict and withdraw his troops.
A government spokesman says Schultz pushed Putin to negotiate a solution to the conflict to achieve
a quote, just and lasting peace. Schultz had prepared for this call for weeks, says the
spokesman, coordinating closely with the American, British and French governments.
