Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Janine Hurst. Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green says she'll resign her seat in the new year. Green was once an ardent supporter of President Trump, but has split with him on the Epstein files, among other issues. And Pierre Stephen Fowler reports she blames Trump, the Republican Party, and House leadership for her decision. Green surprise announcement that she will leave Congress on January 5th spurred many reactions late Friday and early Saturday.

President Trump told ABC News it was, quote, great news for the country after the two had a public nasty falling out over the Epstein files and other policy disagreements this year. Other Republicans inside Georgia have said her departure will be a great loss for those who value. conservative America first principles. And Democrats, no fan of green or her policies, are highlighting the rift as signs that GOP is in disarray. Stephen Fowler, in PR News, Atlanta. Open enrollment is happening now on health care.gov, and 22 million people are facing huge premium spikes. If enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies, go away. And Pierre Salina Simmons-Duffin has more. Republicans and Democrats appear divided over whether to continue, the enhanced premium tax credits beyond December. Those have kept Affordable Care Act plan premiums

down for several years. In a recent Senate Finance Committee hearing, Republican Chair Mike Crapo of Idaho explained why he opposes extending the enhanced subsidies. We cannot simply throw good money after bad policy. He says the enhanced subsidies paper over rising health costs and enable fraud. Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock of Georgia responded that the health care system is like a patient in the ICU. We need to stabilize the system before we can explore innovative treatment options for long-term care. The deadline for enrollees to pick a plan that begins next year is December 15th. Selina Simmons-Duffin and Pierre News, Washington. Officials in Nigeria now say that 303 students and 12 teachers were abducted from a Catholic boarding school yesterday.

InPier's Jewel Bright reports dozens of boarding schools will now temporarily closed because of the risk. The attack on St. Mary's Catholic school in the northern state of Niger is among Nigeria's bigger school abductions. In 2014, the kidnapping of 276 Chibok schoolgirls by Boko Horam sparked global outrage. In the years since, hundreds of students have been seized, often for money. Experts say schools are easy targets as they lack adequate security. No group has taken responsibility for this latest abduction. Authorities say a massive searcher and rescue operation is on the way after armed men on motorcycles attacked the school in the

The Supreme Court is allowing Texas to use its recently redrawn map of congressional districts for now while it decides its legality. A decision could come as soon as Monday. A lower court had blocked the map, finding it's likely to be found unconstitutional because it draws the lines to eliminate districts where black and Latino voters make up the majority. But times running out to finalize Texas's maps for the midterms because the state's candidate filing deadline is about two weeks away.

Parts of the world-famous Las Vegas strip are closed off today as Racing Series F1 is in town to host its annual Grand Prix event. The race is a welcome boost for a city that has seen a decline in visitor numbers. Las Vegas is the third and final U.S. stop on this is F-1 calendar. McLaren teammates Lander Norris and Oscar Piastri are in a race for the title. With a win tonight, current championship leader Norris would take a large step toward securing his first driver's title, with only two races left in the season. British driver Norris took pole position in a rain-soaked qualifying session Friday night.

Australia's Piastri will start first. 5th, after struggling with the challenging conditions along the temporary 3.8-mile street course.
