In just three years, ChatGPT has changed the way we think about and interact with artificial intelligence.
On college campuses, the impact has been swift, leaving teachers and administrators scrambling.
If we're not careful, the presence of AI can poison our relationships with our students.
How is AI changing higher education? Listen now to the Sunday story on the Up First podcast from NPR.
Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Wilman. A senior Russian official says,
a potential summit between President Trump and Kremlin leader of Vladimir Putin remains on
Moscow's agenda. NPR's Charles Mainz reports. In an interview with a Russian policy journal,
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ripkov said the prospect of a new Trump-Putin meeting remained.
I wouldn't rule anything out, said Ripkoff, who characterized ongoing dialogue between Washington
and Moscow as impressive. Those comments come amid a new push by President Trump to negotiate an end
to the war in Ukraine. President Putin has loosely endorsed Trump's draft.
plan, which critics say skews heavily in Moscow's favor. Trump and Putin last met for a hastily
scheduled summit in Alaska last August that failed to achieve a diplomatic breakthrough. Then
Trump complained the Russian leader still wasn't ready for peace and canceled a potential
follow-on meeting last month in Hungary. Charles Mainz, NPR News, Moscow.
President Trump says he was surprised when Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Green announced
Friday she would soon resign from Congress. The announcement came after months of tension
between Green and Trump. Georgia public broadcasting, Sarah Culles, spoke with some of Green's constituents
about a decision. Green is very popular in her district. Pam Larshide, for example, lives in Green's
district. She's supportive of both Trump and Green and wishes they would make amends.
I think he should get over it, and yes, supporter.
Some constituents like Josh Williams, who have backed her opponents, say they don't quite believe
all of what she said. I'm glad that she has seen the light as she is, like, purporting.
but I don't think that she's a, I think she's a grifter.
People told me that they felt like this tension between her and Trump is just politics,
and they have bigger concerns.
That's Georgia Public Broadcasting, Sarah Culles.
Israeli strikes across Gaza killed at least 24 people and injured more than 80 on Saturday.
That's according to Palestinian health officials.
Both Israel and Hamas, meanwhile, are accusing each other of ceasefire violations,
but the ceasefire is still holding, as NPR's Kat-Lonsdorf reports.
In Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle in Gaza City,
in the north while several air strikes hit central Gaza. Israeli forces also opened fire in
Rafa in the south. Israel says Hamas militants crossed the yellow line into Israeli-controlled
territory in Gaza and threatened Israeli troops and that the resulting strikes killed five
senior Hamas officials. Hamas called the attacks a, quote, blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement
and called on the mediators, including the U.S., to pressure Israel to stop. Israeli strikes have
continued throughout the fragile ceasefire deal, which is in its second month, but has largely
stalled in the first phase. Kat Lonsdorf, NPR News, Tel Aviv.
A fire that broke out on a container ship docked at the port of Los Angeles is not almost entirely
contained. The blaze began Friday night and prompted shelter-in-place orders for nearby
communities because of hazardous materials on board the ship. That order has now been lifted.
There were no injuries because of the fire. Officials say an electrical problem may have
sparked the blaze. You're listening to NPR News.
have discovered a very, very old canoe.
As Sarah Lear, Wisconsin Public Radio reports,
it's estimated to be more than 5,000 years old.
Over the last several years,
the Wisconsin Historical Society
since it's found a total of 16 ancient canoes
lurking at the bottom of Lake Mendota
in south central Wisconsin.
Tamara Thompson is a maritime archaeologist
who helped lead those discoveries.
She suspects that, for millennia,
indigenous people returned to that section of the lake.
She says they may have been stashing
their boats for later, by burying them under sediment near the shoreline.
What we're seeing really is a parking lot. The cluster of canoes includes a red oak vessel
discovered earlier this year. It's believed to be 5,200 years old. That makes it the oldest canoe
ever found in the Great Lakes region, and one of the oldest found in North America. For NPR
news, I'm Sarah Lear in Madison. In college football, Dante Moore threw for 257 yards and two
touchdowns on Saturday is number seven Oregon beat number 15 USC 42 to 27 number eight
Oklahoma meanwhile slip past number 22 Missouri 17 to 6 number four Georgia beat
Charlotte 35 to 3 number nine Notre Dame pounded unranked Syracuse 70 to 7 while
number 10 Alabama blanked eastern Illinois by a score of 56 to zero number 12 Vanderbilt
beat Kentucky 45 to 17 number one Ohio State needed a strong second half to beat Rutgers
