President Trump says 20-year-old Sarah Bextram, one of two National Guard members shot in Washington, D.C. yesterday, has died.
Trump announced a short time ago.
that Bexstrom passed from her injuries.
We do know that her family was with her
while speaking to U.S. military leaders around the world.
Trump said the other guard member,
24-year-old Andrew Wolfe, also from West Virginia,
is still fighting for his life after undergoing surgery.
Wolf remains in critical condition.
That's NPR's Brian Mann.
The White House says President Trump has spoken with Bexstrom's family.
A 29-year-old man, meanwhile, was arrested in connection with the shooting.
The Afghan National entered the U.S. in 2021.
He was shot during the incident, is in the hospital.
Officials say he has head wounds that are considered non-life-threatening.
President Trump may be changing his mind about extending subsidies to help people buy health insurance.
And Pierce, Maya Liason has more.
For months, President Trump and Republicans in Congress said the government should not extend expiring Obamacare subsidies.
But now, as a promised December vote on the tax credits nears, Trump may be reversing his position.
He is reportedly considering a plan to extend the subsidies for,
two years with an income cap, even though it's not clear that Republicans in Congress would go
along with that. And the president himself said on Tuesday that he would rather not extend the
subsidies, but, quote, some kind of extension may be necessary. More than 20 million people
benefit from the Obamacare tax credits to help them afford health insurance. President Trump
has tried and failed to get rid of Obamacare altogether, but the program has proved
tough to uproot. Mara Liason, NPR News.
At least 94 people are dead after a massive fire tour through a public housing complex in Hong Kong yesterday.
Search and rescue operations are continuing there.
Reporter Sheree's fam has more on one of the deadliest fires in that city's history.
Firefighters are now going floor to floor to search for any residents that may still be trapped inside.
The fire burned through seven high rises.
It's now under control, but some units were still burning more than 40 hours after the fire first broke out.
The complex had been under renovation and was covered in bamboo scaffolding and netting.
The netting and some other construction material were not up to standard, according to police.
As they caught fire, some scaffolding collapsed and turned into falling debris,
blocking emergency vehicles in the early hours of the fire, an official from the fire department said.
Police have arrested three people from the contract company in charge of the renovations on suspicion of manslaughter.

At least 69 people are dead on the island of Sumantra in Indonesia, after monsoon rains over the past week, caused flooding and landslides.

Americans carved turkeys and passed the pumpkin pie at dinner tables across the U.S. today,
and those doing so included patrons at Jack's Bar in Pittsburgh.
Julia Frazier with member station WESA has the scoop from that city's south side.
Doors at Jacks open every day at 7 a.m.
Inside, regulars can still light up a cigarette with their beers.
But on Thanksgiving, warmed aluminum trays line the bar for a free dinner.
Diane Malchetsky fills a plate with turkey and all the fixins.
She goes to Jaxx for the dollar cup of coffee, community, and a drop of old granddad.
I'm without my family this year.
My best friend just passed away.
She was 85 years old.
She lived around the corner.
But we're decorated.
We're happy.
We got old friends and new friends.
Oh, gosh, golly.
I needed this.
The bar is cash only.
The next free feast is on Christmas.
