Here's the morning headlines from Michael Hill.
The NYPD says it's upping its patrols of Central Park after a string of robberies over the weekend.
WNMC's Julia Hayward has more.
Police reported two robberies, one attempted robbery,
and a fourth incident involving Grand Larchney between Thursday and Saturday.
Several victims were physically assaulted, and one individual had to be rushed to the hospital,
according to authorities. Officers say no arrests have been made, and the investigations are still ongoing.
The incidents add to a sizable uptick and robberies across Central Park this year.
From January to April 1st, the return reported incidents, compared to just two during the same time period last year.
In other news this morning, amid rising costs from Manhattan drivers,
some train riders will soon be eligible for a discount, beginning July 1,
First, the MTA is offering a 10% discount on monthly passes for L.I.R. and Metro North riders.
The discount is good only for Long Island Railroad and Metro North trips that start and end within the boundaries of New York City.
Lisa Daglian directs the MTA's Permanent Citizens Advisory Committee.
Daglian says she hopes discounts will encourage people to get out of their cars.
Getting on board the rails, getting on board subways, getting on buses, getting on express buses is the way to travel.
Nobody likes to sit in traffic.
The discount affairs start June 30th just a day after the MGA plans to launch congestion pricing in Manhattan.
The congestion pricing program will toll drivers who enter Manhattan below 60th Street a $15 daytime fee.
New York sports are buzzing this morning.
The New York Knicks beat the Philadelphia 76ers 97 and 92 yesterday to take a 3-to-1 lead in their first-round playoff series.
Jalen Brunson scored 47 points.
career and team playoff high.
The second-seated Knicks can advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals with a win at home
tomorrow night.
And the New York Rangers swept the Washington Capitals in four games.
They await the winner of the Islanders in Hurricane Series to see who they'll play in round two.
The New York Islanders also captured a dramatic win Saturday staving off elimination in their first round series,
game five in that series tomorrow night in Raleigh.
And the Mets beat the Cardinals in 11 innings and the Yankees bomb the Brewers,
15 to 5. What a day for New York sports.
