It's Monday, December 18th.
Here's the morning headlines from Michael Hill.
A powerful storm continues to pound New York City in the region this morning.
The National Weather Service says we can expect rainfall of two to four inches,
with the worst of it falling mid-morning and with high winds through noon.
Weather conditions are causing scattered power out of trouble.
throughout New York and New Jersey. Con Ed reports several thousand customers have
new electricity across Staten Island, Brooklyn, and Queens. A state investigation into
toxic fumes, possibly entering buildings by the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, is expanding.
Reporter Jordan Gospore has more on that. The investigation began more than two years ago,
when the State Department of Environmental Conservation found high levels of trichloratylene, or
TCE, inside the Royal Palm Sheplechop Ward Club.
Now, state officials are seeking access to more than 250 buildings on both sides of the canal.
They want to take air samples to test for the same dangerous fumes.
The Shuffleboard Club's owner and state officials say the indoor air is safe to breathe,
thanks to a remediation system meant to capture vapors before entering the building.
Brooklyn residents who want to keep tabs on cleanup efforts around the neighborhood can sign
up for email alerts on the State Department of Environmental Conservation website.
61 and stormy. Flood and watches and warnings and wind advisory. Stormy with heavy rainfall,

Tonight we drop to the upper 30s in the city. Gusty, it'll be cold and windy.
And then tomorrow mostly sunny as this storm gets out of the way, 43, but on the breezy side,
Wednesday and Thursday, sunny and 45.
