A new law looks to reduce carbon emissions from buildings in the city by penalizing owners if they don't retrofit their properties. Despite some opposition, it gives building owners an extra year and a half to comply if they make plans for future changers,

But not everyone is excited for this initiative to roll out. Eric Welkman organizes with the nonprofit food and water watch. He says the softened enforcement is unfair and undercuts the law's intended benefits. You know, if you're a poor person jumping a turnstile, you get caught by the police. You don't get to say, oh, sorry, you know, but I promise to obey the law in two years. Other environmental groups argue the rules prove a clear way, pathway for building owners struggling to make these changes happen. The law takes effect in January. A new partnership between the government of New Jersey and Princeton University aims to make the state a leader in artificial intelligence.

WDIC's Nancy Solomon reports. The partnership will pair research with entrepreneurs, which Governor Phil Murphy says will advance New Jersey's place in the burgeoning AI industry. Beth Novick, chief technology officer for the state, says the hub will see. study the potential dangers of machine learning as well as business innovation. To ensure that we create safety, but we also realize the opportunity for the tremendous economic potential, innovation potential, and job potential that these offer. Novec says the state has already begun training thousands of its employees, how to use AI to improve services. Actor Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of assaulting his former girlfriend.

Majors was arrested in New York City back in March after his ex-girlfriend accused him of injuring her during an argument, causing cuts, bruises, and a broken finger. After two weeks of testimony, a jury yesterday found Majors guilty of assault and harassment. Marvel Studios in the Walt Disney Company say they're dropping majors from all upcoming projects after his conviction. He had signed on to become a major figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before his arrest. judge-will-sentence majors in February. 39 and mostly clear out there, partly sunny and 43 for a high today.
