New York City's Child Welfare Agency says it'll soon start informing all parents of their legal protections at the onset of any child abuse or neglect investigation. Parents will get a written notice telling them they have the right to call a lawyer and can deny social workers. permission to enter their homes. The Administration for Children's Services says it's an important step forward for equity and justice. Parents in parts of Brooklyn and the Bronx started receiving the notices in October as part
Starting point is 00:00:47 of a 400-person pilot program. The policy expands citywide by July. But some parents' rights advocates who have pressed for more disclosure by ACS say the notices are still incomplete and misleading. Year-round surfing could be coming to Far Rockaway Queens. Lou Harris is the founder of the East Coast Chapter of the Black Surfing Association. He says he's in talks for the city oversight for a large indoor wave pool. He says the facility would bring more visitors to Far Rockaway
Starting point is 00:01:18 and educate people from the neighborhood about water safety. It's in the hood where it's at. It's not frequented by a lot of surfers. And that's why we want to put a lot of people in that area to see, you know, how desirable it is. Far Rockaway is a coastal neighborhood with the mostly black and Latino population. Harris says too many people in the area don't know how to swim, though they live right by the beach.
Starting point is 00:01:45 Harris declined to specify which site could become home to the wave pool, citing the ongoing negotiations. Well, it felt a little like deja vu all over again. The Buffalo Bills missed a field goal last night, losing the game against the Kansas City Chiefs with little, time left on the clock. It was reminiscent of another famous bills game. In 1991, the team missed a late-game field goal attempt, losing Super Bowl 25 to the New York football giants. Last night's 27 to 24 home game loss ended the season for the bills. The Chiefs, meanwhile, are now among the last
Starting point is 00:02:21 four teams to play this upcoming weekend to see who makes it to Las Vegas and Super Bowl 58. 26 and clear out there. Temperatures warm to the mid-50s this week with several chances for rain starting tomorrow. Sunny, we break the freezing mark. We'll hit 37.
