Welcome to NYC Now.

It's Tuesday, June 13th.
Here's the morning headlines from Michael Hill.
Mid-60s with clouds right now in the city.
Mostly sunny today and a high of 81.
NYPD commissioner Kishon Sewell says she's leaving the department.
City Council Speaker Adrian Adams praised Seoul as the first black woman to lead the large
police force in the USA. PBA President Patrick Lynch says Sewell cared about the cops on the
street and was always open to working with the PBA to improve their working conditions.
Seul led the city's police department for a year and a half. She came in with the Adams administration
after a two-decade career in Nassau County. She let the department know she was leaving
in an email that went out yesterday afternoon, but it does not state why she's resigning.
And a statement, Mayor Eric Adams, thanks Seoul for her leadership.
The city of Hoboken is celebrating the grand opening of a new five-acre resiliency park.
The park is capable of retaining up to two million gallons of stormwater runoff
and will protect the city against chronic flooding.
Mayor Robbie Balas says the park is a model for the country.
When other cities and communities seek to become more resilient and adapt to climate change,
they will look at Resilient City Park as a shining example of how a park can be designed.
A Brazilian city park is a larger such park in New Jersey and part of Hoboken's ongoing efforts to mitigate against the climate crisis.
Hoboken received both state and federal money to complete the project on land.
That was a vacant industrial lot.
The park includes basketball courts, a playground, athletic fields, and a flood pumping station.
Once every year in June, some of New York City's most famous cultural institutions host a massive block party.
It's called the Museum Mile Festival, and it's happening tonight on 50,
Fifth Avenue. Eight major institutions are taking part, including the Met Museum, the Guggenheim,
El Muzio del Barrio, along with a few smaller ones, they'll offer free admission from six to nine
to nine, along with pop-up activities and performances outside. Fifth Avenue will close
to cars from 82nd Street to 110th Street. The opening ceremony begins at 5.30 at the museum
of the city of New York for a list of participants and attractions. See gothamist.com.
64 with clouds now, mostly sunny today in 81.
We should dry out, should be less humidity.
We'll see about that.
