Here's the morning headlines from Michael Hill. 66 and sunny, widespread haze today, mostly sunny and 85. The air quality this morning, still rated as moderate. It means if we're especially sensitive to particle pollution, we may want to spend less time outside.
Starting point is 00:00:33 Domingo Hermon, of the New York Yankees has pitched the 24th perfect game in Major League Baseball history. Through an interpreter, Hermann said he could tell something was happening. After the fifth inning, you know, I felt that I found myself in good shape. You know, so I just try to keep the balance that I had throughout the game and just keep executing pitches. Hermann retired every Oakland batter in an 11-0 win over the athletics. It was the first perfect game since Seattle Mariners A's Felix Hernandez threw one against the Tampa Ray Rays in August of 2012, that is.
Starting point is 00:01:13 There were three that season. Hermann struck out nine of the 27 A's batters he faced last night. Armand joins three other Yankees who threw perfect games. David Cohn in 99, David Wells in 98, and Don Larson, still considered a gem in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers. Under Jersey political operative who pleaded guilty to a murder for a higher plot, goes to federal court today for punishment. WNNYC's Nancy Solomon reports. Sean Cattle has been free while awaiting sentencing for a year and a half.
Starting point is 00:01:49 That prompted expectations that he was cooperating with federal prosecutors on what surely must be a corruption case against a big fish. But so far, only an aid to the state Senate president has been indicted for tax evasion relating to skisks. campaign funds. Prosecutors are seeking 15 years in prison for cattle, and the sentencing memo notes his cooperation. The memo also reveals he says he hired the hit on Michael Galdieri of Jersey City because Galdieri had threatened to expose possible criminal activity if cattle didn't give him money to buy drugs. 66 and sunny, we have air quality alerts this morning, widespread haze in the forecast once again, mostly sunny and a high of 85.
