NYPD officers moved on to Columbia University's campus in riot gear last night. At the request of University President Minister Feeke, she sent a letter to police seeking an end to the standoff. Police say they arrested dozens of protesters who had occupied a university

The move came just hours after Mayor Adams and top NYPD officials told protesters to leave the campus and warned that those who stayed would face criminal charges. A group of Columbia faculty members criticized Shafiq's decision to call in the NYPD. They say it places students at risk. Cameras on MT buses soon will begin issuing tickets to double-park cars on bus routes across the city. W.N.W.C. Stephen Nasson reports the change aims to get cars out of the way and speed of service for riders. Right now, roughly 600 of the MTA's buses have cameras that automatically ticket vehicles parked in a bus lane.
Starting point is 00:01:18 But at the end of May, those cameras will also be allowed to issue tickets to any car double parked on a bus route or illegally parked in front of a bus stop. On Tuesday, the MTA board signed off on a $141 million contract to equip 2,000 buses with the technology. That's more than a third of all city buses. The MTA hasn't said which routes will get the new technology, but notes bus speeds have increased by 5% on routes that already use it. 54 with clouds out there in the big city right now on their way to a partly sunny day and a high temperature in the mid-70s and then tomorrow cloudy becoming sunny,
