It's Thursday, May 4th.
Here's the morning headlines from Michael Hill.
48, chilly out there and cloudy.
Shower chances today, mostly cloudy, and upper 50s.
The Department of Buildings is issuing a vacate order for three more buildings
as part of an enforcement sweep after the deadly collapse of a Manhattan parking garage last month,
WNYC's Catalina Gonella reports.
A broken down concrete ceiling, exposed beams, and cracks in an elevator shaft.
These are some of the conditions that led the Department of Buildings to fully vacate a parking garage in the East Village.
Two others in the Lower East Side and Bedstay were ordered to partially vacate.
The clampdown on garage conditions across the city comes after the garage collapse on Ann Street last month killed its long-time manager.
Four other garages were already ordered to vacate.
in the immediate aftermath.
It's been a long time coming,
but the city's plan for outdoor dining is nearing completion.
The new program would require restaurant owners
to pay to use city streets and sidewalks.
They've been free since the pandemic began.
A person familiar with the negotiation
says city council plans to propose four fee tiers
depending on location.
Celebrate Brooklyn is around the corner.

about what to expect this summer.
Prospect Park's Lena Horn Band Shell
will come alive this summer
when Brick Celebrate Brooklyn kicks off on June 7.
This year's festival includes more than 20 free
and benefit concerts, dance performances,
and celebrations for Juneteenth and hip-hop's
50th anniversary.
Artists scheduled to perform include blues artist
Taj Mahal, Neosol, Neosol, Stokely,
and alternative singer Kalella.
But executive producer Diane Eber says,
even if you haven't heard of a performer,
take a chance.
So my other pro tip has come early
and see the openers because every artist that we put on this stage has been so intentional
and connects to the other artists on the stage.
Celebrate Brooklyn runs through August 24th.
48 and cloudy right now.
We have flood warnings still posted for the Passaic River in Little Falls and Pinebrook, New Jersey,
so be careful in those areas.
Today's forecast of 50-50 chance of showers, mostly cloudy and just 58 for a high.
Tonight, overnight chance of showers in 48 for low.
And then tomorrow, slim chance of morning showers, partly sunny and 61.
And we begin our warm-up tomorrow, you can say.
