Here's the midday news from Michael Hill.
Two NYPD officers were injured yesterday during a confusing encounter with immigration agents in Washington Heights.
WNYC's Charles Lane has the story.
Police got 911 calls about armed men pulling people from cars near 164,000.
in Broadway. When officers arrived, they saw people in sweatshirts chasing someone and jumped out to
intervene, according to the NYPD. But the chase involved federal immigration agents who were wearing
ice vests underneath their sweatshirts, police said. Two NYPD officers sustained minor injuries
during the interaction and were treated at the scene. The incident happened as ICE made other
arrests in the neighborhood. City Council member Shauna Brayu posted video of agents pulling a man
from a car at 157th and Broadway, calling it, quote, deeply disturbing.
The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to request for comment.
Unionized Starbucks workers at 65 stores across the country, including New York,
planned to strike starting today, one of the company's busiest days.
It is meant to disrupt a red cup day when stores give out free reusable cups to customers
who buy a holiday drink.
Workers say they want higher pay and better hours.

Starbucks says it offers the best wage and benefit package in retail worth an average of $30 an hour.
