Mayoral candidates are also weighing in. Andrew Cuomo says Assembly member Zoran Mamdani's election would be a gift to Trump, while Mamdani's campaign says Cuomo would want. roll out the red carpet for the president. Republican Curtis Lewa says he'd tell the White House, troops aren't needed here. On New York State Appeals Courters ruled Nassau County may not enforce this law that bans transgender female athletes from competing at county-run facilities. Gabriella Larios is an attorney with the New York Civil Liberties Union, which filed a lawsuit argument
Starting point is 00:01:21 the ban violates state human rights law. Today is the first time that an appellate court has swatted down Nassau County's transphobic policy. The court decision is only a temporary block as civil rights groups and county officials continue to fight the law in court. Mayor old candidate Andrew Cuomo says he'll reverse the local law requiring New York City to close the Rikers Island Jail Complex. Cuomo says he'll rebuild the jail on the island and build affordable housing on the four replacement jail sites in the out-of-barrows where detainees are set to go.
Starting point is 00:02:00 The plan to close Rikers has forced opposition from communities where the new borough-based jails would go, but criminal justice experts say the closure plan would create better conditions for detainees to make it easier for family visits. Republican nominee Curtis Leba opposes the closure. Democratic frontrunners of Ron Mum Duny. supports the closure. Current law dictates Rikers must close by 2027. The fund is over for the New York anchors. The team lost 5 to 2 against the Toronto Blue Jays. In game four in the Bronx last night, their season is over. 55 and clear right now.
