Welcome to NYC Now, your source for local news in and around New York City from WMYC.
It's Tuesday, June 10th.
Here's the warning headlines from Michael Hill.
It's primary day in New Jersey.
WMAC's Sean Carlson has more about who is on the ballot.
Six Democrats are vying to be their party's nominee to replace Governor Phil Murphy.
Representatives Mikey Cheryl and Josh Godheimer,
Newark Mayor Raz Baraka, Jersey City Mayor Stephen Fullop, Teachers Union Boss Sean Spiller, and former State Senate President Steve Sweeney.
There are five Republicans, former Assembly member Jack Chitorelli, State Senator John Bramick, local radio personality, Bill Spadia, real estate developer Justin Barbera, and former Englewood Cliss Mayor Mario Cranjack.
Along with a primary for governor, there are also a host of other contests today, including for the entire State Assembly.
Polls are open until 8 p.m. tonight.
Forest Hill Stadium is hosting a summer packed with concerts. For years, the Queens venue has faced numerous noise complaints made by neighbors.
As W&MAC's Julia Haywood reports, the season is already off to a loud start.
The city's 3-1-1 system received 40 noise complaints in the zip code containing Forest Hill Stadium on the same day as the venue's first show of the summer.
That's almost triple the number of claims made in the same area the previous place.
week. And it's on trend. An earlier WNYC analysis show that the number of noise complaints on
nights there were concerts increased last year. And considering that there are multiple events
scheduled to take place at the stadium from now until August, it will likely continue. The next
concert is scheduled for Saturday. Forest Souls did not immediately respond to request for comment.
The New York Liberty have won all eight games of this new WNBA regular.
season. That's better than the start of their first season in 1997. The Libs will make it,
will try to make it, to nine in a row tonight in Brooklyn when they host Angel Reese and the
Chicago Sky. An injury has ended the season for the Sky's guard, Courtney Vandersluad,
who helped the Liberty winning championship last season. 63 were clouds and fog and mess, a dense fog
advisory till mid-morning because of low visibility along the shore. And we have showers and maybe a
thunderstorm, afternoon sunshine, and maybe another thunderstorm, a high near 76.
Warmer tomorrow, sunny and warmer all the way up to 84.
Thanks for listening.
