In the news this morning, a New York City council member wants to bring back the infamous green stickers that were used to shame drivers who didn't move for street sweepers. Councilmember Gil Brewer says her Upper West Side Council District is plagued by drivers who simply don't follow. alternate side parking rules. I'm happy to undo the city council law that says you can't put a sticker on.
Starting point is 00:00:36 I put stickers all over these damn cars. So I don't know if you have any other ideas, but it's really curbing your ability to clean the streets. Acting Sanitation Commissioner Javier Lojohn agrees that workers are having a harder time cleaning the streets. The department
Starting point is 00:00:52 was blocked from using the stickers in 2012 after complaints about how hard it is to get those stickers off of vehicles. A The commission tasked with studying the issue of reparations has been given more time to come up with its recommendations. Deputy NMIC's Rune Venegal, Paul, has more. The deadline extension was buried in last week's state budget. It means that the State Reparations Commission now has until 2027 to issue its findings instead of the summer. Members of the Commission have been meeting since last year in an attempt to understand the historical and modern-day consequences of slavery and racial discrimination.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Reparations for the descendants of enslaved men and women is a politically volatile subject, and in practice is widely opposed, according to polling by Pew Research Center. But the extension means that any recommendations, such as monetary compensation, will only come after the 2026 midterm elections. The New York Knicks are one win away from eliminating defending NBA champion Boston Celtics. What a team effort, and a come from behind effort last night. at the garden. The Knicks 121, Boston 113. The Knicks will try to win a fourth game in the series to advance to the Eastern Conference finals.
