A grand jury has indicted a man for vandalizing three synagogues at a Jewish volunteer ambulance in Manhattan. WNYC's Charles Lane has more. Harlem resident Lenny Delaroza is accused of leaving hateful graffiti
Starting point is 00:00:30 on an Upper East Side synagogue on August 12th. then doing the same to two more synagogues in a hutsala or Jewish volunteer ambulance in the neighborhood two days later. Rabbi Hiam Steinmetz of Congregation Kahulath Jeshurun called the attack disturbing and welcome the indictment. It calls a spade a spade, an anti-Semite that specifically targets a series of Jewish targets at the same day. What that means is that this person is looking for a way to confront Jews. De La Rosa has pleaded not guilty to the charges. calls to his attorney when not immediately returned. The city's transportation department is considering covering a sunken section of the Brooklyn
Starting point is 00:01:11 Queens Expressway with green space. The concept known as capping was presented as part of a broader proposal that reimagined the BQE at a public meeting last night. DOT's chief strategy officer, Julie Barrow, says the proposals were put together with community input from previous workshops in mind. We've been able to identify an area. of the sunken highway of the VQE that we can build over, that we can build bridges that could contain parks
Starting point is 00:01:39 or other community amenities to reconnect the communities that have been divided by this highway.
