Welcome to NYC now.
Your source for local news in and around New York City from WMYC.
It's Thursday, November 9th.
Here's the morning headlines from Michael Hill.
A fundraising party thrown by the company at the center of a federal inquiry
into campaign contributions to Mayor Adams appears to violate the law.
WNIC's Charles Lane reports.
According to interviews and an analysis of campaign finance data,
the Brooklyn Construction Company KSK and a Turkish business group
invited some 40 people to KSK's offices, where Adams met with donors.
The event raised roughly $75,000.
However, the fundraising party wasn't disclosed as required by city law.
Sarah Steiner is an election lawyer.
You really do want to know who's involved in this because that's the kind of thing that can lead to corruption.
Adams has denied any wrongdoing.
KSK officials did not return phone calls.
New Jersey's Republicans have been celebrating a win after a renewable energy company
pulled out of two major wind power projects in the state.
They say Democrats are out of touch with voters' concerns over that type of development.
But speaking on WNYC's Ask Governor Murphy's show last night,
Governor Murphy said he thinks it's actually the opposite.
He says voters see the big picture and that helped Democrats pick up seats in the state
legislature. They said, wait a minute, this is a huge economic engine. It's not just clean energy.
It's not just the right thing to do in a state that's as exposed to climate change as we are.
But it's a big job spinner. Murphy says wind power will move ahead, even if it takes longer than
he had hoped. The NYPD accuses a queen's man of firing a weapon on a Manhattan subway platform
to intervene in a dispute Tuesday night. Officers arrested the 43-year-old man yesterday
after police had he shot at a man trying to forcibly remove something from a woman at the 49th Street,
N-R-NW subway station. The man has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon,
reckless endangerment, and other crimes. Police also arrested the man, accused of trying to take the woman's property.
Attorney information for the two arrested men was not immediately available.

and then tomorrow back to the mid-50s under mostly cloudy skies. Cooler this weekend.
