Here's the morning headlines from Michael Hill.
The New Jersey Attorney General says a handful of towns in the Garden State
are discriminating against same-sex couples.
A.G. Matthew Platkin is pursuing enforcement action against five towns.
Linden, Hanover, Fairview, Estelle Manor, and South Times River.
He says the cities published exclusionary information online on marriage licenses,
claiming online that marriage licenses were only available to opposite sex couples.
The AG's office says it's working with all the towns to make them comply with state law.
New York City's agreeing to a confidential mediation process to settle its efforts to limit its right to shelter obligations
amid a migrant crisis straining the city's shelter system.
The mediation could have heard what would likely have been a protracted legal battle.
The city will hold private talks with lawyers for the state and the non-profit legal aid society, which represents homeless New Yorkers.
Legal aid staff attorney Joshua Goldfein says the judge presiding over the case told the parties he would serve as the mediator.
Legal aid and the coalition for the homeless say they welcome the news and they hope the city will get more federal resources for the more than 64,000 migrants in the city's shelter system.
The EPA says the air quality is expected to remain good all day to day.
