Welcome to NYC Now.

It's Monday, October 28th.
Here's the morning headlines from Michael Hill.
New Jersey firefighters still are monitoring conditions in the state after spending the weekend
battling a sprawling forest fire in Essex County.
The state fire service says the nearly 200-acre fire is 90% under control as of last night.
But Eric Weber from the New Jersey.
As far as fire services, it'll be completely extinguished when we get some rain.
So I would say the conditions we're currently experiencing are unprecedented.
This is a dry spell and record for New Jersey.
We're going into a drought.
Probably this is the worst case scenario we've seen in potentially a lifetime.
The Garden State has gone nearly a month without significant rain,
and there's little in the forecast.
Most of the state is at extreme risk of wildfires.
Bicyclists and pedestrians hoping across the Georgia,
Washington Bridge overnight were given a morsel of what they wanted. Just a morsel, though,
as WN. Myc's Charles Lane explains. The bike and walking path across the George Washington used to
close from midnight to six in the morning. Now it opens at 5 a.m., giving morning commuters an extra hour.
The Port Authority says it has to close for five hours a night, for cleaning, something no other
bridge pathway does. Rich Jones says he doesn't buy it. He bikes across the bridge five days
week and says that sometimes they unlock the gate late.
There are usually a number of cyclists and we will then end up riding together down to the ferry,
but there's a bunch of people who would be walking and they're all quite out of luck.
Jones is among over 800 people who have petitioned the Port Authority to keep the path open
overnight.
The New York Yankeers are down to two games to none in the World Series after losing to the Dodgers
Saturday night in L.A. 42.
The Dodgers struck out Aaron Judge three times Saturday night as he's struggled in this postseason.
But the Yankee Slugger says he's excited to get back to the Bronx and remains optimistic.
It's a seven-game series for a reason.
You know, and we got the group in here to battle the storm and, you know, end up where we want to.
Game three of the series tonight at eight in the Bronx.
Dodger star Shohei Otani is set to play after partially dislocating his left shoulder
when he got tagged out trying to steal second base on Saturday night.
Thanks for listening.
