Here's the morning headlines from Michael Hill.
Today marks 22 years since the September 11th attacks,
and Lower Manhattan will be filled with events commemorating the tragic attacks.
WNIC's David First has more.
Vice President Harris will visit the National September 11 Memorial and Museum,
for the commemoration ceremony, along with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
St. Paul's Cathedral will ring its bell of hope at exactly 8.46 a.m., the time when the first plane
crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. And starting at dusk, the museum will light up
the night sky with twin light beams as part of its annual tribute in light. On his way home from Asia,
President Biden will mark the occasion at a military base in Anchorage, Alaska, and plans to meet with service
members, first responders, and their families. Jersey City is commemorating this day. The 9-11 attacks.
The city's ceremony starts at 8.30 this morning at Jersey City's Waterfront, 9-11 Memorial,
that's right off Grand Street across the river from where the Twin Towers once stood. The memorial itself
is made from steel from the Twin Towers. Jersey City Mayor Stephen Phillip will preside over the
event, along with members of the Jersey City Council.
Liberty will play the Washington Mystics in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.
The Lips lost to the Mystics yesterday in the final game of the regular season.
New York finished the second with the second best record of the season behind the Las Vegas Aces
after adding star players like MVP candidate Brianna Stewart and John Queld Jones.
Game one against the Mystics Friday night, game two is next Tuesday, both at Barclays Center.
And speaking of sports.
The New York football giants opened the new football season with an embarrassing loss of the Dallas Cowboys last night at MetLife Stadium.
The Giants had more mistakes than points.
A blocked field goal attempt at an interception, both returned for touchdowns.
The Cowboys sack Giants quarterback Daniel Jones seven times.
The score, Cowboys 40, Giants nothing.
It was the fifth straight time the Giants have lost to the Cowboys and the largest shutout between these two rivals.
The Jets play tonight on Monday Night Football.
