Hello and welcome to episode 34 version 2, the NZXT Clubcast, the official podcast of the NZXD community.
This podcast is recorded almost live every Thursday at 10 a.m Pacific Standard Time on the official NZXT Discord server and is available to stream wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts.
My name is Dennis and with me is Ivan.
Hey, are you recording this?
I am recording this.
And Amanda.
Great.
Hey.
Hey, you might want to turn your mic up a little bit.
Amanda, you're kind of kind of quiet.
So this is a version version two of the podcast.
We originally recorded this podcast.
Correct.
Correction.
This is version foo, not version two.
Version foo.
We recorded this March 19th, 2020 is March 20th, 2020 because our recording got crafted.
So you guys get a bonus episode.
So if you listened live, you got the super secret cool episode where we did giveaways and talked about all kinds of stuff.
And if you're listening today, you get to hear us talk about Animal Crossing for 30 minutes because it literally launched last night.
And that's, I think it pretty much all me and Amanda did.
All right.
Then I guess you guys don't need me for this episode because I'm not.
I was supposed to hop into Doom, but I just got caught, you know, getting those bells, catching those bugs, fishing, crafting axes.
Yeah.
How's your morning going so far, Amanda?
chilling. You excited for another podcast?
I'm chilling. Can you guys hear me?
Yeah, we can hear you. Okay. I'm chilling. I actually, I tried to go to bed earlier last night,
but I ended up, I ended up like staying awake until two or three a.m. again because I was done
playing Animal Crossing, but Julianne had just started playing like right as I was
going to bed. And so I needed to see, okay, what island map is she going to get? What fruit is she
going to get? You know, what are her first two villagers and everything? I had to know. I had to know.
And she got, she got Sprocket and it's like another one that started with like a K or something.
And yeah, she was like loving it. She was like having a ball. And then I like briefly kind of woke up around like,
I think it was like 4 a.m. or 5 a.m. and she was still playing. I'm like, what are you doing? Go to bed.
Must be nice. You don't have to go to work, right? I know. Yeah. It's just relaxing. But, yeah, so we're both in that initial first process of just, like, getting addicted, pretty much.
Yeah. Have you ever played in Animal Crossing before, Ivan?
Yeah, actually, you could play a lot back on the Nintendo DS days.
Um, I, I, I, I, I, back then I actually had a season pass for Disneyland and me and my friends would take our DSs to Disneyland after school.
And we would like, um, you know, be waiting in line for rides playing Animal Crossing.
Uh, I liked it. I'm not, I'm not like the world's biggest Animal Crossing fan. Like, I'm, I'm, I'm not even that excited to be honest about this new one. Um, I, I like the game. I'm just not like this super obsessed fan over it. I'm more of, I'm more of, I'm more of, I'm more of,
a Mario
Mario guy
than Animal Crossing guy.
I don't know if like
this one is like anything
so groundbreaking, you know?
There's some quality of life stuff. There's some
annoying stuff, but I feel like
there, it's definitely a game that
we need right now.
Like a game that's like just more relaxing. It's not
competitive, right? It doesn't have to
you know, there's no battle pass or
there's no BR mode that they're going to
drop in like three months or something.
just like, you know, like a relaxing game.
You can take it your own pace and can I, you know, forget about the world for a bit.
Yeah, last night.
Well, I got on my switch last night, actually, like around 11 or so.
No, 10 o'clock.
Kind of late for me.
But I couldn't sleep because I had a extra root beer yesterday.
So I was like, whoa, a whole extra root beer.
Oh, my God.
And how about my switch?
And it's like, I normally see like two or three of my friends online.
but last night, 15 people online and everyone's playing Animal Crossing.
I played Mario Rabbits last night for like an hour.
Which is also, honestly, Mario Rabbits to me, it's like very leisurely.
And for the most part, I play leisurely type games anyway.
I'm really not into competitive games as much.
So for me, like Animal Crossing, you know, pretty much every game I play is very leisurely.
So it's not really bringing anything new to me particularly.
That's what I'm more excited to play Doom, to be honest, than Animal Crossing.
Yeah, I can't wait to get into some Doom today because I know like definitely at lunch I'm going to take a break to play Animal Crossing, right?
When like, you know, the replies a little slow and be hopping on that Animal Crossing.
You know, when I run down to the toilet, I'm going to log on that Animal Crossing.
I'm probably going to put my switch into a bag so I can play in the shower, you know?
Get to maximize the game time, you know?
That's true.
I think I did that once.
with my Game Boy Advance SP, like the, we call it the, the one that flipped.
And I remember when I was a kid, I was sitting in the bathtub and I would wrap my,
my Game Boy Advance in like a plastic bag, and like a zip-locked bag.
So it was like watertight.
And I would just kind of try to play while my buttons slid on my fingers.
It was pretty great.
Oh, that's kind of, that's kind of sad, actually.
I was that sad
It was things that kids do
You know
Like playing
Playing Nintendo with a bag
In the shower
Yeah because I don't want it to get wet and break
Water
Water used to be a big deal back in the days
Not so much anymore
Right
Like I will legit
Take my phone into the shower
So I can change music
While I'm
You know, washing my hair and whatnot
This is
My biggest complaint about you
It's always been
You can't
just focus on one thing at a time.
Like, dude, just take a shower and get it with and then play your music later and play your
video game later.
Like, you're always-
I need to go to a shower, man.
You're always trying to do like five things that wants.
And by doing that, like, you can't do one thing good.
It's like everything's like 50%.
Seriously, that's like, that's-
I was saying that on shower right?
No, it's not, well, yeah, I'm saying that.
If you're, if you're busy changing music and playing video games while you're showering,
you're definitely not showering the best you should be showering.
Yes, that's what I'm saying.
And this is like same thing with work.
I don't know.
If you're trying to work, if you're trying to work at the same time,
you're trying to play a video game,
trying to watch a streamer,
trying to check Twitter,
trying to read an article,
trying to chat on Slack, all this stuff.
You're not doing any of those things effectively,
I guarantee you.
Just do one thing at a time.
And I promise you you will be more successful.
I do one thing for five minutes,
then I do something else for five minutes,
and they go back to that thing
for another five minutes.
I'm doing one thing at a time in very small increments.
It's pretty much the same thing.
If you add up all the time, it makes up the same amount of time.
So I see no problem here.
That's you.
Amanda opinions?
I think that for certain tasks, it's okay to do them at the same time,
especially if it's something that you enjoy or makes you happy.
Like, you know, I could tell Ivan, hey,
Stop drinking your root beer and rocking your chair.
Just read the book.
But I'm not going to do that, right?
Because those are things that you want to do that you can easily just do at the same time.
So I think for the most part, you can multitask very minor tasks.
For some things like when you're working.
Yeah, for sure.
Yeah, sometimes.
But for like work and stuff like that, yeah, I would say probably putting your focus in one place is better than trying to split your focus.
But it really is, it all depends on the situation and exactly what the things are that you're trying to do.
If you want to listen to music while you're showering and dance in the shower, go for it, right?
Like it's, it really just depends on, on the tasks and exactly what you're trying to do.
But listening to music in the shower is different than putting your phone in a plastic bag so you can change the station while you're trying to put shampoo in your hair, you know?
That's a difference.
Well, I'm not doing it.
I'm not doing an overboard with it.
I'm not grabbing a handful of shampoo, then grabbing my phone at the same time and trying to like, you know, like a rinse my hair out while I'm having my phone out.
He's like, you know, I'll be listening to the music and my phone's there.
Oh, this song sucks.
I quickly pick it up.
I tap it.
I put it back down.
Get back to my regularly scheduled showering routine.
If anything, Dennis is practicing safe showering.
Exactly.
Also, all the music Dennis isn't too sucks.
So it's kind of a new point.
You don't know what I listen to in the shower, okay?
My shower playlist is way different than my driving playlist, which is way different than my working playlist.
Okay.
It's a bunch of cumbias in the shower.
It's the only thing that we'll do.
Glad we established that.
Thank you.
If I'm not doing a step kick while I'm like washing my armpits, then it doesn't feel right.
You got to bust at that two-step.
Okay.
So for those who don't listen live, let's just go through some of the topics and segments that we have set up.
up trying to get more organized here.
Shouldn't be a little bit more,
more,
what's the word, Amanda?
You're really good with the words.
Trying to get more,
I don't like organized,
or anything like it sounds right.
Structured?
Sure.
Is it a better word for it?
Organized is the correct word.
Is it?
I was going to say you're literally using the correct word.
I don't know what to tell you.
It just doesn't feel right.
Focus is another way of saying it.
Yeah, I think focus is a good one.
All right, so remote checking.
Trying to get our stuff together.
For sure.
It's not easy.
But speaking of getting our stuff together, since we're, what week two, working remote,
do we feel like we're more organized?
What do you guys think?
Do you feel more organized?
Yes and no.
This is our second week working remotely.
And the first week,
was really about, well for me at least,
it was really about setting up my
workstation at home because I really didn't have that in place.
I used to have like an entire room that I just used as my,
I called it an office, but it was more like just my storage room.
Like I had my gaming PC, you know, my gaming site,
like everything gaming related was in there.
Also I had like my records, awesome stereo system.
I actually had like cool posters on the wall.
It was basically like a man cave, right?
And then once my daughter was born, I had to give all that up because we only have two bedrooms in my house.
So that became my daughter's room.
And basically I had to just put all my stuff either in storage or just threw it away even.
Got rid of a bunch of stuff.
And when I did that, like I didn't have my computer set up because I'm at the
office all day. And I live really close to the office too. So it's like I don't really, you know,
like if I have to work late or whatever, I'll just stay at the office or going early. Like I don't
really work much from home on the computer. It's primarily on my phone. So just all last week,
it was just, you know, saying on my computer, I had to like install new fans on my PC. I had to
get all the, yeah, like, I had to, like basically get my PC a tune up.
I had to get a webcam.
Just yesterday, before the podcast that we didn't record,
I set up the blue microphone I brought from the office.
Yeah, and that's basically what the first week was.
And then the second week, it's kind of getting used to working remotely
because since everyone's remote,
it feels like there's a lot more needs to kind of have meetings.
So for us, our team, the community team, we have, we schedule the morning meeting every single day at 9 o'clock in the morning so we can plan out the day and all the tasks we have to do and sync up, right?
You sync up and hear Amanda complain about something.
It's a joke, Amanda.
It's a joke.
What?
It's a joke.
You give a chance to respond.
Hold up.
Like, y'all don't complain.
Okay.
It's just a joke.
We all just, I know, it's not funny.
That's why I said it's a joke.
You know, it's not funny when you have to say it's a joke.
But it's just a chance for us to kind of sync up and, you know,
talk about what's going on with all the different things we're working on.
And just basically plan on the day.
And it's not just with the community team.
I feel like I'm having a lot more meetings just in general with, like, everyone.
Like, I counted my meetings yesterday and I have 25 meetings this week,
which is ridiculous.
Like, pretty much the,
the entire day just seems like one long meeting.
And it's good and bad, you know, it's good that everyone's kind of working together.
But at the same time, it's like, I just need times I can actually do the work we're talking about, you know.
It's like a lot of things that just kind of like going slowly right now and just do the amount of changes that are going on.
But little by little, we're chipping away at everything, I think.
And also, I think, getting used to being home all day.
with my wife and daughter. It's kind of not challenging, but just different because I have to
respect their space. I have to respect my space and, you know, like they have their routine,
their schedule and I can't mess that up. So yeah, just getting used to it still. Yeah. Yeah.
Okay. That is. I was waiting for you to pick it up. I would say that,
It does. The only thing that's really changed the most is the ability to do different kinds of, like, video content from the office.
We post a lot of, like, Instagram stories just from the behind the scenes, you know, with the builders or when we're recording a podcast or maybe, you know, like, we're just doing something funny in the office.
Like, now we don't have that opportunity to do that.
And I don't particularly feel comfortable being like, hey, guys, look inside my house that I'm stuck in for however long, right?
And trust me, I'm not comfortable looking at it during our meetings.
Keep telling you. It looks like a Spencer's gifts, man.
I feel like you're jealous, and I think your wife would think it's really cool.
You should show her, and she'll probably think it's awesome.
She probably would, actually.
There you go.
I have this running theory that, like, me and Ivan's wife would be like BFFs.
Like, no lie.
Yeah?
Why's that?
We'll grow out.
We'll grab fah, got ramen.
all the stuff that Ivan doesn't like
we would do together and just chill
be buddies
Dennis and my wife have very similar taste
they have the same taste in men
me
I'm basically Ivan's office wife
Dennis is my wife
I have my wife and my wife
who
well this is a different kind of podcast
like I feel free to turn it off at any moment
you won't blame you
How are you feeling, Amanda, working from home? Week two, how's it treating you?
Good, good. I've stated this before on the podcast, but I worked remote, like, pretty much my entire, you know, gaming industry career.
So it's nothing really different for me. It's just a matter of sticking to routine, making sure that I'm eating breakfast, making sure that I'm getting up, stretching my legs.
I probably need to go outside sometime soon.
I'm thinking that's probably a good idea.
Definitely should.
It seems to be like sunny and nice out today,
so I'll probably take a walk today.
But just, yeah, staying in routine,
remembering to do the things that I need to do,
not only for work, but for myself.
And yeah, I think otherwise, like,
I've been pretty dang productive,
making sure that I am, you know, getting tasks on everything like that.
I don't have as many distractions as when I actually am in the office due to, you know,
having a separate room where I can isolate.
But, but yeah, that's pretty much it.
Like, it's not like this huge drastic change for me.
All right.
Sounds pretty good.
Yeah, I'm going to feel the same way too.
It's not that big of a change.
There's a couple things that have made a work life a little bit different.
But, you know, we're all keeping in touch.
You know, we're syncing up every day.
We're always talking on Slack like we normally do.
We're always talking on, you know, Discord and in our numerous, numerous meetings.
The only weird thing I would say is, like, meeting new employees has been kind of a funny experience.
As we had someone start on Wednesday and we were going to go out to lunch, but obviously it's not an option right now because half the city has, you know, closed everything down.
So instead we all had lunch at our desks.
We were on Google Hangouts.
We played Scribble I.O.
With the new employee and found out that some people can draw and some people cannot draw at all.
I would be one of the people that cannot draw.
Yeah, Amanda's pretty bad.
What, you were not any better.
I thought it was good.
No, you were not at all.
That canon drawing was...
I was purposely trying to make it.
Exactly.
I was purposely trying to make it not look like a canon
because I was just being a foo.
You get less points.
You get less points and people don't guess your thing.
But I made everyone laugh.
Doing that too for all my drawings.
Yeah, totally.
Everyone was like, oh, does not look like a canon.
I haven't.
No, just like making it worse.
I found out that Emily is like a, like a
pictonary savant.
Like she's, she's hacking, man.
He's crazy good at that game.
Like someone draws a line and she guesses it right away.
It's like, come on.
Like, she's definitely hacking.
It's like, it's like one squiggle.
It's like, oh, the Eiffel Tower.
Like, how'd you, how'd you get that?
Yeah.
It's pretty great.
Yes, pretty nuts.
We should, honestly, we should be doing that stuff.
More often?
Yeah, and I bet the mods would have a really good time with that.
Oh, yeah, for sure.
The minds are going to have a good time, then we definitely don't want to do that.
Yeah, actually, scratch that.
We only want them to feel the pressure of moderating and nothing else.
No happiness here.
How dare they ask for happiness when they don't cause us any happiness?
Correct.
Yeah.
Next topic.
Next topic.
Next topic.
Are we starting to annoy each other?
I think we're definitely starting to annoy Amanda, for sure.
I think I've been annoying Amanda.
You guys, I've said this before, you never stopped annoying me.
There was no, like, stopping and beginning.
It's literally, you guys have always annoyed me, but I also, you know, I also, I know that
that's a part of the process and, like, I'm going to annoy you.
We're all going to annoy each other.
And if we're going to come out better for it in the end, probably, unless we all hate
each other, I don't know.
Yeah.
And I feel like Dennis and I have.
a very, very, like, different kind of relationship that most, like, you know, people do,
I think, at the office.
Because we basically clown each other all day long, like, and for us, it's, like, normal.
But it's definitely not normal for other people.
So I can understand why that might seem, like, kind of mean or might take some getting used to.
But I think Amanda, I think little by little, Amanda's, like, learning.
like that we're definitely not mean in real life we're just dumb trolls no i'm getting i'm getting
more of your humor but it's not like you like i've seen you guys get like a little on each other's
nerves as well it's not just me like i've seen i've seen a little bit of like you know the the energy
shift it's you know it's human nature that sometimes you have specific days where you can handle less
and what definitely get on each other's nerves but i feel like
we always work through that stuff.
I don't think there's always like hostility that just goes on or whatever.
Yeah, like I don't hold grudges against you guys.
Literally a new day is just a new day, right?
I think that's like the best way to say is that there's no hostility, right?
It's all coming from a place of humor.
You just want to have fun.
And maybe sometimes we might be the best at it, the best at it.
But we always mean well and never with any ill intent.
Yeah, like sometimes you guys just aren't funny, but like I'll be like, ah, I'll just, you know, I'll let them not funny, you know, it's fine.
And I think that's the funny part is like when we know that you don't think it's funny, but we keep doing it because it's funny to us.
That's where the real enjoyment comes from.
Because like I'm the kind of person with like family members or like girlfriends or whatever.
If I start bugging them and they tell me to stop it, it makes someone to do it more, right?
It's like if you tell me not to press the button, I'm going to want to press the button.
You know, man, learn them.
It's hard because it's fun to not.
I mean, it's only difficult for some people.
Yeah.
No, for sure.
Yeah.
Not difficult for me.
Right.
For the for the for the tropegas, it's, uh, it's not easy.
It's definitely not easy.
Yeah, but, but I would say this being on the seam has been one of the more fulfilling things I've done, like, thus far.
like thus far. I think this is not only the best job I've had, the best position I've had,
best team I've been on, but I feel challenged every day. I feel like I have the space to think
of new things, to have like creative ideas and to, we all challenge each other every day. And like,
that type of stuff doesn't like come very often. Like people sometimes work their entire lives
that are never fortunate, like enough to have a team that works as well. Or like the,
ability to do the things that we do every single day. I'm still hoping one day that happens to me.
Ha ha ha ha. You heard it here first. Sample of Ivan's humor right there. Yeah, my job is to bring you down
whenever you bring yourself up. Oh my God. I'll go back to not saying anything. Yikes.
Yikes. All right, see, so sorry, it's just kind of an odd podcast.
We already talked about some of these topics, but like, we know that not everyone listens to it live, and you totally should.
So just a real quick plug.
We do record this podcast live every Thursday at 10 a M Pacific Conna time on the official NZXC Discord.
Discord.org.
S.EG slash NZXT.
That's FYI.
Yeah.
Evan, how's your wife and daughter coping with you being home all day now?
I'm definitely driving them crazy.
Oh, yeah?
Because I, like, I.
For example, this morning, we were eating breakfast.
And I was just, like, messing with my daughter as she's eating.
And, like, I got her all excited.
And she just started throwing her food all over the place.
And I was like, what are you doing?
Like, just let her eat.
Stop staring at her.
Stop playing with her.
It's like, I'm always trying to have fun with my daughter.
So it's, it is challenging because, you know, my wife's, like,
trying to like teach her stuff, like teaching her, you know, shapes and colors and how to say words
and how to hold a fork and all these like things. And then I come in and I'm like, you know,
just messing with her and, you know, kind of getting her excited and whatnot. So it's, I know,
I know it does bug my wife sometimes. But I'm trying to be better about that.
So would you say that you're like that you're like the good cop?
in the in like the whole mom dad dynamic like she has to be the one who sets the rules and you're
the one who like breaks them she's definitely more of a disciplinarian than I am but I'm starting
to be more as well um like for example this morning we started throwing her food like I'm the one
that that you know scolded her and it was like no Olivia you don't throw your food uh just because
I'm starting to see that if I don't if I don't do those things she just keeps it up and it's not
good.
Right. I'm becoming more of a disciplinarian.
I find it funny that you say you don't want other people to ruin your kid and their
behavior and you literally want to be.
Yeah.
Well, I'm not always like that.
I'm also, okay, I'm also, you know, trying to, like, potty trainer and, like,
doing all these other things.
It's not just having fun, but I try to have fun with those things.
All right.
Like, for example, like, at night, one of the, one of the ways I get my daughter's,
to potty is I get my guitar out and I start playing songs for her to dance to because I guess
it loosens up her bowels or stuff. So I'll start playing songs for my guitar and then she's
jumping up and down and I'm playing hiding the seek with her because running around helps her potty too.
I try to do it, you know, I try to do it, you know, fun ways like that.
All right. I feel like we need to have like a email for the podcast.
I want to hear from other parents too.
Is this a thing?
Like, if you make your kids run around,
does it make them poop more often or something?
That's so weird.
It's different down to my daughter.
I don't know about other kids,
but for my daughter for sure.
Amanda,
do you have any thoughts on that?
Do you poop more if you run around and dance?
I mean,
I don't have any kids,
so can't speak on that.
I do think it would be a really cool idea
to have a way for
listeners on all our different platforms.
firms to be able to just respond to the weird topics we have and give us their feedback and stuff.
I would love to know what parents out there do in response to Ivan's weird.
I'm not letting anyone take care of my kid type stuff.
Ever.
That'd be great.
But yeah, no, I don't know.
I have no knowledge of this kind of stuff.
I'll say in the meantime, if you want to respond or ask any questions and you're not a live listener.
send an email to marketing at nzc.com and put like podcasts in the subject title and that way we'll know and iven
go through that yeah even like letting us know job iven like the podcast or anything like that too
then set up into the filter okay so now i want to talk about what we all want to talk about
what we've been playing and when we talked about this yesterday on the on the corrupted files what i'm
to call it. You're talking about borderlands and stuff.
But I think you know what's about to go down Amanda. What are we talking about?
I mean, we already talked about Animal Crossing, so should we be good?
We can talk about it more. Okay. So my island's name is Vibein Island.
Ivan Island.
Vibeen Island. Come stay vibe.
I just realize Vibin rhymes with Ivan.
Vibe and Ivan. Anyways, we have parents.
I re-rolled about 10 times because I kept getting apples and then I got peaches once, which isn't like a big deal.
But I do feel like peaches are the fruit that everyone wants and turns to.
So it kind of makes me not want to do it.
Kind of makes me want to pick the one that everyone doesn't like.
Yeah, same here.
Yeah, go ahead.
No, like I wasn't aware that people hated pears so damn much.
Pairs are a horrible fruit.
Pairs are really good.
Are you kidding me?
They're like apples, but they don't suck.
They have a better texture than apples.
If you go to the grocery store and you get regular, like, green or brown pairs that, like, your everyday stuff, they're going to suck.
But there are some, like, really expensive, like, premium pairs, if you will, that are really good.
Or, like, I've found that there's, like, one pair I tried that was more, like, yellowish.
And that one was, like, really good.
It was super sweet.
I mean, it all depends, right, on the type.
But I mean, I didn't like pick it on based on like what fruit at like.
Because if that were the case, then I would have definitely picked peaches because peaches are.
I just went with the first fruit that I got.
Like honestly, I didn't care what I got at first.
I was hoping for peaches just because I personally like peaches as a fruit better.
But like if I got apples or something else, I'd be fine with it.
Because I know like part of the point of the game is like you're not going to get what you want.
Right.
So you have to go to other people's islands slash towns and you trade with them.
Like, yo, dog, you got them pears, you know, got them apples.
Come, you know, come bring a couple so I can plant some in.
So to me, it's never like that big a deal.
Like, I'll eventually get all the fruit that I want so I can sell them to Timmy and Tommy and whatnot.
So to me, it's never been a concern.
Oh, yeah, for sure.
I just, I noticed there's just so much pear hate and I just don't get it.
Everyone is so wholesome in the AC community until you pick a fruit of your throat, like,
and they'll come for your throat, dude.
It's actually really funny because before Animal Crossing came out, there's like this really great
doom slash Animal Crossing, like fan art.
And it's like usually super wholesome and really cute and it's like really, really fun.
And then all of a sudden the game comes out and it was like, yo, you got pairs?
Suck it.
Delete me from your switch friend code
Don't talk to me anymore
Ivan needs to add me on the switch
I can be among the 50 people on there
that are playing Animal Crossing
Yeah, do you have your friend code anywhere?
I mean, I can just drop it into
There's a spreadsheet in the Switch Slack channel
That's...
Oh, really?
Yeah, just it's in the challenge.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, yeah, I'll drop it in there.
Why not?
Everyone can add me.
I have a cool purple hat.
I just got that chat.
I just like that chat and long asked,
is there a way to turn off the animal's voices?
No, dude, that's the point of the game.
You listen to the cute little noises.
What the heck?
Why would you want to turn this off?
Some people, dude, they just don't understand.
Just don't get it.
Yeah, I think I'm liking the game a lot.
It looks really good.
Like there's like a cute texture to all the all the villagers and all the characters in the in the game they they look like little felt like sock puppets almost
It's like really soft and squishy and I can't think what else like I don't just like overall it it it still looks like I'm a crossing
But it's like you know a little bit cleaner a little bit nicer looking
The music's still really good right
And that I
made my character look like me pretty much except the hair is wrong now how do you feel about
how do you feel about the phones the phones i think the phone is i first didn't like it but i think it's
awesome now because it definitely uh brings together a lot of features that would have been really really
weird with animal crossing because animal crossing's UI has never been like super complex or anything
um it's really just like one button to open your inventory and that's pretty much it so i think having um the
phone to be able to look at like a friends list or look at what you're uh what basically are like
your achievements in the game uh with with the nook miles um or like look at your encyclopedia it's
makes it a little bit easy to navigate because it pretty much took like that old menu and just
put it into like a more modern kind of package because that makes sense yeah i'm for sure liking the
uh the changes and the game is like really good looking really really really good looking um
I think the one thing that I hope we don't sort of lose in this Animal Crossing, which I don't know anything because I haven't seen anything. I haven't spoiled anything for myself. But I am just hoping that we still have like sort of like kind of like shops you can go to or places you can go at like certain times of the day and stuff like that for specific things. I don't know if that's still going to be a thing in this Animal Crossing. But that's, I almost feel like the phone and going to Tom Nook for.
everything kind of takes away that quaint little cute feeling about New Leaf.
You know what I mean?
Where like you go to the town center and then you could like go to the shops and stuff.
Like being able to just purchase things right on the machine inside like his 10 and then you have the workbench in there.
And then you're selling things.
So like I don't know if it's Timmy, Tommy, whoever.
It just I don't know if it's like this is just because it's the start of the game.
You need to get new people in.
And like there's a lot of.
different like other things that need to happen to get to that point.
I just hope that that's still something that's obtainable and,
and it's not going to be like everything you do all the time is always on your phone.
Because I think that'll definitely lose my interest after a little while.
But that's my only thing I'm concerned with the game.
I think, uh, I think that they still do.
I think it's like in like one of the directs or something.
I don't remember that you still have shops.
But at the bare least, I get my media.
So like, I'm just like, as soon as I grab any new bug or any new fish, I'm like, this must go in the museum.
Where's the hour?
Yes.
It's probably one of my favorite parts of the game is just like collecting.
And it's like, because like, I remember playing older games.
You'd be walking around and you'll see like a beetle on like a tree.
Like, oh, I don't have that one.
Yep.
So like you like slowly push your finger on the sticks.
So you're kind of creeping and you got your little net ready to go and you just snatch that sucker.
Oh, it's so good
Yeah
I actually
I saw someone who had their
Their tent set up
With like a little aquarium inside already
I was like dang how did you do that
I don't know if it's like a
A pre-done thing that you can just buy like a fish tank
With a fish in it or you buy the tank
And then you put your own fish in it or what
It looks super cool
I think maybe like the the nook shop
Might be like different per person
I haven't
Yeah I haven't verified that
But I did go to one of our moderators as towns this morning because I woke up super early, not on purpose, but I woke up super early.
And she was playing still.
So I visited her town and I was shaking down some of her trees.
And I picked up a school desk.
And I'm like, thanks for the desk, sucker.
And I laughed immediately.
Wow.
It snatched and grabbed it, dude.
Oh, my God.
That's one of the cool things about Anna crossing.
That's some of the cool things about the game, though, is it.
It's definitely a different kind of experience than almost like any other game out there.
It can be played at such a casual pace but still be really enjoyable that I think is something that I'm really digging right now.
Because every game I'm playing is at the competitive or like high octane adrenaline action.
Like I have doom.
I haven't even ran that yet.
And like I'm just sitting at night chilling with my little furry, you know, raccoon boy.
Yeah.
I go through phase.
So I have like RPG phases.
I have chill game phases.
I have, you know, ranked FPS phases.
And I think right now, especially with everything that's going on in the world currently,
having something that like you just can play and it's super relaxing,
you do whatever it is that you want.
It's not pushing or pressuring you to do anything.
It's definitely not competitive unless you have someone visiting who's like trying to steal
yourself like Dennis.
And then it does get a little bit like, you know, you got a,
gotta kind of give them the old one to you.
That was still stuff.
Listen, I shook.
I shook that tree.
It came out for me.
You may not even ever have shook in that tree.
So I think that school desk is rightfully mine.
And you're welcome to come to my town to shake any of my trees.
I will.
I will do that later today.
Don't you worry.
Yeah.
All right.
And I would say it's it for Animal Crossing.
I mean, like I feel like I barely scratched the surface.
I have you know there's there's so much to doing that game and I know they've added a bunch of stuff
oh real quick how do you feel about the crafting just like off top um I don't know if I like it or not
fine like I have my stuff break I do hate having my stuff break I hate that like you know you have to
kind of get a lot of the flimsy tools right at the beginning but at the same time it does bring
a different element I think their logic behind the crafting system was probably like
like, okay, if we're going to put them on a deserted island, we need to have some sort of thing
that they're going to have to come back for to do every single day without having shops and other
things. And one of those things is getting to the DIY bench, like at the beginning of the day
because you broke all your stuff the day before and you need to craft it. And I like that you can
craft more so like cosmetic-y things too. Like I know like in my in my bench I have like a, I don't
know, like a bunch of different things I can put around my tent for like aesthetic purposes.
So that part of it's pretty cool.
Like I don't have any problems with it really.
I just hope that it doesn't become super annoying like later in the game.
Like if it costs a lot to get the really good stuff, that might be frustrating to have to grind that.
But I don't, I don't hate it.
I definitely don't hate it.
Yeah, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not heading it either.
It's just for, it's a little bit of annoyance because.
Like once I had that axe, I start going ham and I want all of the wood.
And then all of a sudden, breaks.
I got to go back to the DIY bench.
Oh, I'm out of sticks.
Now, now I got to go grab sticks.
And then I got my sticks.
Oh, I need one more stone.
Get around finding stone.
So I think that's, I think it's going to other people's islands that much more important.
And maybe that's also part of the reason why they did it like that.
Because in the beginning, you have such a small play area that you can only shake down
so many trees and pick up so many sticks, you know.
And maybe the idea is that as opposed to encourage.
you to play with other people and steal their sticks and their rocks yeah probably I would say
that's probably something that they definitely considered yeah Ivan if he can make your
animal crossing town right now what would you call it vibe and Ivan Ivan Ivan Island
or maybe like Poochee Island
Poppyland
Astro World
Cuddleville
I have a bunch of name
Astro world's pretty good I like that
Astro world
I have no
shortage of stupid names for things
Foo Island
Scante Village
Scante Village
I might have to edit that one out
Don't look it up kids
So you can
Say give a claim plausible deniability
All right
Play a little clown honk right there
Mark the time
Actually I can I can add timeline footnotes
Believe it or not
Oh, nice.
I know this software is pretty, pretty dope.
And if you guys see it there in the bottom, can you see it there?
No.
No, okay, so it gets maybe just me.
Yeah, this software is pretty cool.
All right, cool.
So Animal Crossing, Ivan, what are you playing?
Actually, still playing Mario Rabbids, the game that you bought me.
Well, I didn't buy it for you.
I give you a card, and that's what you said to buy.
Yeah, you gave me a gift card for Christmas, and that's the game.
game I bought. So technically you did buy it for me.
Okay. You're welcome.
But yeah, the game's really fun. I like it a lot. I like that
you can pick it up on the go and just play for like 15, 20 minutes.
And you don't have to invest like a bunch of, you know, hours into it.
I have like, you know, not that mean, like maybe like 10 hours in that game.
But it's all been played like in like 20 minute chunks. So it's kind of cool.
starting to get harder
yeah so playing that and also
playing a little bit of Tetris 99
and I'm thinking of
I don't know how much should I get Animal Crossing or not
yes I mean I don't have the time to like play this thing though
that's a thing like I don't want to play like for
where I can't play for like hours and hours like everyone's playing right now
I mean you don't have to play for hours you can't play for hours
you can just play like a little bit here and there i mean that's kind of the as we were saying
earlier is that's the beauty of animal crossing right you like you don't you don't have to play it at
anyone else's pace it's your games your your your island um so like i said earlier i'm definitely
more excited for doom the animal crossing so i'll probably get that first i was actually surprised
by that that that you're like down to pick up doom over animal crossing because i feel like
you would be more of uh i know doom well just doom has a special place in my heart because it's uh
the first game I ever got really into on PC,
and it's the reason I built a PC,
or upgraded my PC in the first place when I was a kid.
So I'm excited for all the Doom games.
I love Doom.
And Wolfensstein, too.
I love all the Wolfenstein's.
The New Wolfensstein's are really great.
They're really, really good.
Yeah.
I think me and men are talking about that while back.
Yeah, if you look at my Steam library,
it's like by play hours, it's like CSGO.
Wolfenstein and Doom
those are my top three.
Yeah.
I'm a huge
lately I'm more
of a Wolfenstein fan than a Doom fan, but the
new Doom just looks really, really good.
So I'm probably going to pick that up
before Animal Crossing, TBH.
Wow. How could you do that to us?
And you all know how good I am at
as shooters as I put on the show
company
at Game Night. I put on a really
good show. I keep the
audience entertained.
And yeah, I'm basically like the best gamer in the office.
I won't admit it until I'll see you Zeus somebody.
The next time.
I did buy Azizu.
In 2021, when we're finally allowed back in the office and we have our first Seuss Go
tournament, I want to see a Zeus somebody.
That's funny that you actually saw me buy the Zeus.
I didn't think anyone was going to see any buy that.
That's the first thing I noticed.
Like, I'm watching it.
And they're doing the spectate.
And I'm like, did this fool by your freaking Zeus?
Is he going to try to go for the close range kill?
I was going for it, dude.
I even told Dom, I was like, hey, man, cover me.
I have a Zeus.
For those who don't know, who never played CSCO or haven't played CSGO in a while,
I don't remember if it was in dirt launch, but Zeus is a close range stun gun in counterstrike that you can,
it's a one-hit kill, right?
It's one-hit kill.
Yeah.
It sounds like a chicken when you use it.
Really?
It was like, brah.
I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but I'm not going to debate you on that.
That's what it sounds like to me, at least.
Oh, it's too good.
All right.
So, let's see here.
We have only a limited amount of time blocked off for this.
So I think, do you have time for emails or do you want to go right into the roundup
and mom's advice?
I think we should go into the mom's advice.
I think so.
The community round up.
Yeah, I, okay.
Okay, hold on.
We're all just waiting for you.
The pressure's on.
While we wait, I guess I can read the, so yeah, we came up with the new segment on the podcast where I'm just going to read like a really dumb email that we go.
got from the previous week.
So I talked about this in the podcast yesterday, but this is probably like the really
weirdest email that we got this last week.
And it was no subject line.
And the picture, like the profile picture was this evil clown, like this really like
evil looking clown.
And I won't read the email address, but it's a very vulgar name with some very often vulgar numbers associated to it.
And the whole body of the email is just one long run-on sentence with no punctuation, like all lowercase.
It's like definitely written by like a crazy person, like maybe like the like Kwaking Phoenix character.
there in the Joker movie.
But anyway, the email says,
hello, I am a small YouTuber,
but I want to go big.
You might not choice someone as small as me.
My YouTube channel is redacted,
a Joker picture,
and I really would love it to get a sponsorship with you guys,
and it would be a dream,
and guys keep up the work.
And the reason why I chose this email to read
is because I feel like we get a lot of emails
that are similar to this,
where it's people that are asking for a sponsorship,
asking for review product, asking,
basically asking NZT to give them something.
And most of the time, it's like this where they have literally
no link to their channel, no information about their channel.
Like, you can't really expect a company to go on YouTube
and then just are searching profiles for Joker pictures, right?
So my advice to people who want to get sponsored or get products to review or, you know,
ask for stuff from us or any other company is definitely take the time to craft a well-worded email.
Be professional about it.
You know, don't email a company with an evil joker or evil clown picture.
Unless you're like a big streamer and that's like you're like branding it.
Yeah.
It was like, don't scare me.
Don't spook me in my email.
And yeah, you know, provide some information about yourself, you know, maybe say like, well, I have this many viewers.
My videos get this many views.
You know, I expect this by reviewing your product, I'll do this.
I'll do that.
I'll share it on my social media feeds, whatever, you know, just something to go with.
Not just like one sentence asking for something and then expecting like a reply, you know, or like, you know, it's not like, I don't know what these people expect.
I can't imagine they really expect we're going to reply.
Oh, we'd love to send you one crazy Joker guy or crazy clown guy.
He's a $5,000 PC.
Go for it.
Like, please, please let us know when you review the product, you know, it's not going to happen.
So basically, yeah, that's the reason I want to read that email just to kind of give some advice to the people that want to get sponsored or get product is just to, you know, be a little bit more.
consider it when you do so because you email keep emailing um you know like this you're probably
not going to get uh anything the end yeah no i mean it's that's kind of the the the purpose of like
talking about these emails is uh too is just kind of one it's funny right but two it's also kind of
educate a little bit and you know like to give someone or to give anybody who might be listening like
a takeaway like i received an email a dm on twitter uh the other day
where this person
he talked about
like what game he streams
like his Twitter followers
the impression he gets per posts
the number of viewers he gets per stream
so he was really structured
and really professional and smart about it
and I saw that
as soon as I saw that he was providing information
I'm like okay I don't really know what these mean
but I do know that our partnerships team
right the the marketing PR and partnerships team
those guys know exactly what these numbers mean
and where that fits within like their current
you know, whatever they're looking for, and it's sending off to them, you know, and, um,
especially with the company, you know, like ours who sponsors big streamers to begin with,
there's going to be a lot of people who are looking for those opportunities.
So you have to be the kind of person who's kind of standing out from that crowd, right?
To be someone who's, uh, who's going above and beyond, right?
Put in the extra effort and you know, you never know.
Something might happen.
And even if it doesn't, maybe we'll look at you for, for like other opportunities and
other things.
So I feel like
what to revise
and we'll probably say this every single podcast
and if you have any questions
feel free to DM Amanda on Discord.
You should give you a rundown.
Please never DM me.
DMs are off forever.
You heard it here first.
Keep it.
DM the mods only, bug them
constantly.
Five pings at a time
at the very least.
Right.
Or just email marketing at nzicc.com so we can get more funny emails.
Okay, thanks.
Bye.
Pretty much.
All right.
Anything else we want to talk about real quick?
We got four whole minutes, guys.
Anything else?
Now that I'm actually prepared, I can do the roundup.
So I'm going to kind of condense it a little bit, though, because I think if I try to fit in
the whole thing, it's going to go past our time slot here.
So, Mom's Community Roundup is back, and I'm bringing you the latest news and activities currently happening in the NCXC Club community.
As some of you may have seen, the team celebrated St. Poochies Day on Tuesday by providing a fun Limerick challenge on Twitter.
We tasked the community with creating their own Limericks and the one with the most likes received a purple NCX T-shirt.
Definitely make sure to keep your eye out on socials as well as Discord.
So you two can have a chance to earn extra prizes.
Thank you to everyone who participated.
and congratulations to APX-CTS on Twitter for having the winning Limerick.
And also we highlighted a couple of fun projects from the community in the announcements channel
and the Discord.
If you're a fan of VR chat, Magnumosity went ahead and created our favorite NXT Wifu Akari.
There's a file for her skin that you can currently have in the game.
So definitely check that out if you'd like to use it.
And also if you're fan of 3D printing, the gaming geyser, who DM me by the
way and told me that I pronounced his name correctly the first time.
Oh, really?
Brady print file of the one and only.
That is not how you spell geyser.
Feel free to print one out and then send it to me because I would really, really like that.
And yeah, no, he, he DM me and he said that I pronounced it right the first time.
Everyone says geyser or gayser, but it's actually geyser.
He spells it G, G, E, Z, E, R.
That's G.
When I read it the first time, I read it as geyser, to me, geyser would be too easy.
Geyser has a Y in it though.
I mean, yes, but I still think it's closer to that than it is.
I don't know.
Okay.
Find me on this.
Also, as a binder, we do have the contest currently going on this month.
We chose the NCC Clubcast as a theme.
So, you know, a lot of people have already submitted.
Generally, the idea here is, you know, maybe it's a podcast desk.
Maybe it's it's Poochie holding a microphone.
maybe it's like, you know, a little icon that we can have for the podcast or special branding or something.
But the clubcast is the theme.
So if you'd like to submit your own design for a chance to win some limited edition stickers,
feel free to check out the info and entries channel.
So far, I believe Nibler is still in the lead with the most voted for design and money was the runner up.
So definitely go vote.
Drop a purple heart on your favorite designs if you haven't already.
And as you may have seen last Friday, if you do pay attention to,
to our blog.
The first edition of the weekly Coochee Press series is now up.
We wrapped up everything from the new photography channel in the Discord to the H1
Mini PC giveaway.
So make sure to keep an eye out for the next edition tomorrow.
Also, let me know if you're enjoying the series.
If you have any suggestions or feedback, I would love to know.
And last but not least, one piece of advice for you.
Take a break from technology.
Get up, shut your legs.
Take your face out of Animal Crossing for, you know,
15 minutes.
I'm going to do that right now. Bye.
Play with your wooden tools in real life.
Bye.
And yeah, that's all for the community roundup.
And see you guys next week.
All right, cool.
Thank you everybody for joining us.
And thanks to Amanda and Ivan for chilling in this re-recording.
Remember, guys, tune in next week at 10 a.m. Pacific Center time
in the official NZXT Discord server and follow at NZXT on all relevant social media.
And don't forget to listen to previous episodes on Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Spotify,
and SoundCloud.
And if you would be so kind,
please leave us a review
because it helps us a lot
and it help you a lot
and everyone's happy and content.
All right.
Thanks again.
See you next week.
And if you have pairs, you suck.
