Starting point is 00:00:11 And welcome to episode 42 of the NZT Clubcast, the official podcast of the NZXT community. This podcast is recorded live every Thursday at 10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time on the official NXT Discord server and is available to stream wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts. My name is Dennis and with me as always is Ivan. Who wants a free PC podcast? Uh-huh. Got them. Moted. Today's special guest from the cam team is Joe. Hey.
Starting point is 00:00:42 Who's Joe? Who is Joe? How tired are you of that joke now? You know, I just got over it from last time I was on the podcast. How long ago is that like? I want to say that was like three months ago, yeah. I have no concept of time anymore. I know.
Starting point is 00:01:09 Every day just bleeds into each other. it's the same old, same all, every single day, right? It seems like it's like April 56th at this point. Yeah, it's like March. It felt like it was going on forever. And then April flew by and like now we're in the middle of May. I have like no idea what day it is. It's kind of crazy.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Yeah, it's super nuts. Like I don't even know what I'm doing anymore. I'm just here, you know. I just wake up and I do what I'm supposed to do. then that's like it's like pretty much it yeah my schedule pretty much consists of wake up do work have dinner with the family put the kids down and then jump on call of duty for three or four hours with my friends go to sleep and then do the same thing all over again every single day living the life man that's right not funny if i can get in that same schedule play way more
Starting point is 00:02:05 video games i probably will uh super mega baseball three just came out yesterday so I'll be playing a little bit more video games. RIT. So, Joe, how are you feeling? Are you excited? You ready for this? I'm super excited. I got my cheese-its.
Starting point is 00:02:25 I got some fruit snacks. I got some water. I'm ready to go. Hold up, hold up. What flavor cheese-its? This is the half-and-half. So it's half Parmesan, half cheddar cheese, half original. So it's good.
Starting point is 00:02:42 So half, half and half. Half, half. Yeah, so instead of half and half, it should be third. Thirds, cheese it's right? Yeah. I feel like he's lied to me there. Um, more of a clarification of what cheddar was. Right.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Welcome to episode 42 of the clubcast. We forget what cheddar is. We have Joe from the cam team. Joe, what is your official position? and ZX8. My official position is product designer for software. That is a very lengthy title. What does that mean?
Starting point is 00:03:20 So I work primarily on CAM, which everyone has come to love now, now that we've been working on it. Oh. But I also work quite a bit on the product side. So like when the Crack and Z came out, I spent a ton of time working with the product team on how that was going to look and how that was going to function from the software side. But we also have some other products coming out that I'm also, I work quite a bit on as well. Okay. Okay. What are some of the things that you're most proud of from the current iteration of Cam?
Starting point is 00:03:56 I was really proud of the kind of the UX overhaul that we did. Initially, Cam had this top-level navigation. But as we needed to add more things to Cam, we needed to kind of find a way to fix that since we couldn't just keep adding to that. So I introduced that like left-hand nav. That was a little spicy with the reviews when it first came out, but I think everyone's kind of love it now. So that's one thing that I think is kind of like a larger thing.
Starting point is 00:04:26 It looks like a small thing, but it was actually a lot of thought went into the U.S. with that. And then, of course, dark mode. I mean, who doesn't love dark mode? So that one was fun too. Yeah, actually surprisingly, a lot of people talk about dark mode. but can light mode is actually kind of cool looking it looks really nice all right
Starting point is 00:04:44 I've spent a ton of time on light mode we had one version of light mode that had a lot of purple in it a lot of different colors and I spent about three months actually in the code changing it just like little tweaks here and there to kind of make a cohesive a cohesive experience and I think light mode's in a much better spot now I can't use light mode I'm sorry Hey, man. I'm with you. I'm with you. All right. Joe, sorry, I'm getting DMs. I'm Discord. We do record this live, folks, so, you know, there's a little bit of a different flow to this. Joe, how long have you been at NCXD? I just celebrated my one year at NSXT, like, two weeks ago. So I've been here about it.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Wait a minute. What day? It was before you. It was April. Excuse me. Yeah. It was April 1st, actually. Dude, it's not even a month since April, bro. You are in full. I know. It's actually funny.
Starting point is 00:05:49 My one year was officially on the sixth of last. I still celebrate it on Cinco de Mayo, though. I think we should. I'm kind of torn. I want to do it on May 4th, but I also want to do it on Cinco de Mayo. So maybe I'll split and I'll do half of May 4th. It's my one year and then the other half. you know, of the of the next day.
Starting point is 00:06:13 So that way we don't get too crazy. I don't want to take it. Or we can just have it like a whole week, right? I think, and correct me if you're wrong here, I think I'm observing of a full week of celebration. But I don't know what you guys think. Thoughts opinions? I mean, if you can do it for your birthday,
Starting point is 00:06:28 like my wife celebrates her birthday for like the entire month. So I mean, if most people celebrate their birthday for like, oh yeah, I mean, it goes on forever. So, I mean, if people, and I mean, people do that for their birthday, They celebrate for like weeks on end. So I mean, if you can do that for your birthday, you might as well do it for NSC too. Like take a couple days.
Starting point is 00:06:46 Celebrate it. You're the Ivan? The first of every, of every May. I'm not going to be here. Okay. Joe, before NZXT, what did you do? Before NZXT, I worked on a couple,
Starting point is 00:07:02 or worked at a couple different places. I've freelanced for a long time. I've worked as a app designer for like, Android and iOS. I did that for about three years. After that, I went super corporate and worked at a corporate loan bank software company. So it was like a company that manufactured loans and all that corporate stuff. Sounds very exciting. Yeah, it was not fun. But I mean, it was like a, it's a good piece of my portfolio overall. And then right after that, right before NZXT, I worked at actually a game betting studio.
Starting point is 00:07:44 So this was a studio that created like poker games and like different ways to bet on video games. And then that kind of transitioned to be into XXT. How that transition? I'm trying to figure out like how video game betting website leads into NZXT. Yeah. Like, yo, hey, you made me like a million dollars. You want to come work for my company? No, no, it wasn't.
Starting point is 00:08:09 I mean, I guess it was kind of like not a strong transition, but like getting into gaming, like I've always played video games and I've always wanted to kind of get into the gaming space, doing some type of design for it. So that was kind of like my first, like, hey, this is kind of what the video game landscape looks like for a product designer. And then once I kind of had some of that under my belt, it made me, when I applied to NZXT, it made me kind of favorable over other people since I kind of had that gaming. background with working at a gaming studio. Okay, that makes sense. That makes sense. I'm kind of seeing how that goes in there. I thought that maybe like, you know, like a Rob, like hit it really big.
Starting point is 00:08:51 And he's just like looking like at like who worked on that, on that like betting game. And he was like, yo, this guy's pretty cool. It's a guy's a designer. We should bring him on or something. No, I wish I had a cool story. He owes me some money, but not really. It was actually a mahjong parlor. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:11 Okay, so how was the process of getting hired in in 16? Were you recruited? Did you just like apply? How did that look like? Yeah. So I was looking at a couple different job board websites. And I looked at a gaming one and I just flat out applied. I applied and then about two weeks later I talked to the hiring manager at the time,
Starting point is 00:09:35 which was the VP of consumer. His name was Jared. So Jared called me and we chatted. And it was like a super cool chill conversation. It was actually in the parking lot of Whole Foods. My wife was shopping. I was like, oh, I got to take this call real quick. And we just chatted.
Starting point is 00:09:51 And then I talked to everyone on the team over the course of like three or four weeks. They flew me out to L.A. So I kind of toured the warehouse, saw Build, signed a non-displosure before looking at Build. And kind of like got a tour of everything. met a bunch of people. And it was like, it just seemed like a total fit. And it ended up working out. It's been awesome ever since.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Did you remember seeing me when you visited? Yes. I think so. Like, I think I'm like, I think that's a better at your desk, but I actually had lunch with Vivian and Andy and Jeff. Oh. And we went to a little fish taco place. And Jeff stole my lunch, by the way.
Starting point is 00:10:37 Classic Jeff. Classic Jeff. what's what's the hardest part of working with jeff be honest oh man besides his personality i don't know man like we talk about you so well and i think we have like very complementarily work styles which is great because like we talk every day um so i mean like i can't really find a bad thing to say honestly are you are you like offended that he didn't name his new baby joe i'm a little offended like yeah a little bit it's like dude I spend I spend more time with you than you than you spend with your wife and family I feel like it's only like yeah I feel like it's a
Starting point is 00:11:20 perfectly reasonable thing right I'm like if you're if you're not naming your kids after your co-workers and like what's the point right like why even do it right because like I'm definitely going to name one of my kids Ivan and I'm going to name the other one Irma right because I think Irma's a dope name I'm name one Helen right I definitely If we want a gin, right? You should name them all with twins since you don't have two ends in your name. Jin Ivan, Helen. And then if you end up adopting somebody, you can name them Andy.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Rip Andy. So, no, I forget because I don't remember anything. Are you typically remote or do you go into an office with us? I don't. So I've worked remotely out of Kentucky for about eight years now with all the different They're in Texas. No, no, I'm not a Texas dog. I'm in Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:12:20 Damn, we get a little aggressive there, man. Calm down. I'm just, you know, just, you know. It's a little missing form. Excuse me. Yeah. Texas is one of those states. Like, I mean, like I lived in California forever for like 18 years.
Starting point is 00:12:32 And like, I have a lot of pride coming from California. But like, Texas has a lot of pride too. And I was like, okay, you know, maybe there's something. to that. But then when I visited Texas, I was like, I do not get the pride, dude. So it's like, when someone says like, oh, Texas, I'm like, dude, screw Texas. Wow. Where's, where's Alan? Because Alan is our resident, big hat wearing boots, scooting, buckle wearing Texan over here. And, yeah, I don't know. I feel like you should be here right now to come like defend his. One B, Alan. One B one. One. One. One, you guys in Rust.
Starting point is 00:13:09 I'm down for that rest one v one. Surprisingly, just like a side note, I get a lot of DMs and a lot of questions on social media about Rust. I wasn't aware that there were that many people who played Rest who wanted a computer, but they're out there. So, you know, BLD team, if you're looking out,
Starting point is 00:13:26 apparently Russ is the game to beat right now. Yikes. Russ is dope. It's super fun. I've never played it. Is it fun? It's like, it's like
Starting point is 00:13:39 Minecraft but people are naked in it so like when you spawn in the game you literally spawn with nothing so you're literally like your character's naked and you have to like hit trees with rocks and then you turn those trees into like
Starting point is 00:13:55 weapons and then you eventually start building bases and stuff like that it's a it's really cool but it's also like a very grief heavy right yeah I think I watched a stream of this I watched Moon Moon pretty religiously
Starting point is 00:14:09 and I think he was playing Rust and tried to get a cult like start a cult and a religion Oh yeah Yeah yeah You know it's great It's great It's it's
Starting point is 00:14:19 It's definitely one of those games It's like It's sandboxy enough For like it's super fun But it's also There's like enough of like a little like The goal is literally just I want to beat that guy up over there
Starting point is 00:14:32 Who has that giant house I want to get in your house I want to blow up. Yeah, I want to take all your stuff. Yeah, literally. Okay, so what is your, what is your favorite thing about working with the CAM team or gets on the product design team? Yeah. My favorite thing about working with the team, like kind of outside of the culture, like everybody's super great. Everyone's really cool. I think we all get along really well. But one of my favorite things is whenever I go to present a design that I feel like really strong about that I feel like is really solid and can just like pretty much be made and like be put
Starting point is 00:15:07 straight into protection and be made. It's like typically they'll get a lot of feedback with that and like kind of tear down my design like kind of beat me up a little bit. But what comes out of that is like a way, way better product, which is cool because like our developers are so design focused and customer focused that even if I have something that I feel really, that I feel really strongly about that's really good, it ends. up being better than what I could have imagined because like everybody cares so deeply about it. And like to me, that's what's great about like building a product like this is like coming up with something that is important for the users and will help them out in the long run.
Starting point is 00:15:48 So that's like really cool to kind of see that evolution. Right. Just due to everyone like caring so much about it. Yeah. I feel like that's that's one of those things that like that I think I've been instilled in me really early on. is like if people aren't complaining or they aren't like bugging you about stuff then they don't care and that's when you should start getting upset and worried right like the fact that people care so god dang much about what cam looks like and like how it performs tells you know should should inform us that like that's that's you know that we're at least on the right track right they're making something that people want to use and they're having each of it with it and they want us to fix it right yeah like to say that i believe oh no no i was just i was just going to say um like we've had like as of late, we're coming out with a couple new features on CAM. We spent probably an hour or two in a meeting talking about one little edge case
Starting point is 00:16:45 and one little scenario that might happen to make sure that if that person runs into that problem, like they don't walk away with a bad experience. And it's like that level of granularity in detail is something that we take like super seriously. So it was such a, it's such a small thing. and maybe 5% of users will run into it. But we talked through the ins and outs of it for no joke an hour yesterday about it. Can you specify what that thing was, or is it to NDA?
Starting point is 00:17:19 I'm just curious. That was probably a little to NDA, but we do have some other things coming out soon. What's like the longest conversation about the most, like, minute, not real possible thing that you can remember. Because like I like I like to watch a lot of like developer interviews about like video games and they'll be like we were going to implement this one feature but then we realized that this one stick in the West one level could cause a problem. So we literally have a three day conversation whether we should remove the stick or not. I'm like wow, that's a lot of conversations about that one stick that you could just literally remove it wouldn't change the game a whole lot. But people notice that stuff right. And people get kind of like angry.
Starting point is 00:18:00 they're like, hey, there's a stick here. Where's my stick at? I never used it, but I want that stick. Yeah. And I feel like, I feel like that's something that that it's kind of hard, right? Especially from like a design perspective, right? Because it's not just how it works. It's also like how it looks.
Starting point is 00:18:17 And people get very attached to how something's like appear to them, right? When they're when they use them for like years and years. Right. And like, which is funny too, because how it looks is really like 5% of the conversation. Right. Because like, for instance, that left-hand side navigation, like anybody can put a list of icons and a list of text there and say,
Starting point is 00:18:41 hey, this is how the navigation works. But for that, I mean, we spent a long time talking about how that works and how we disable things. And, like, even disabling things on the left-hand nav, which I don't know if many people know you can do, we went through probably 10 different revisions of that and how to do that. And when we stretched it. out and made it a little wider. We talked about, will it mathematically make sense to a divisible
Starting point is 00:19:08 of four, which is like kind of crazy. But we were like, okay, if we can expand this, if we can like make this expand, will it break our application, will we have to read code a bunch of stuff? Well, all are adding still work, like that kind of stuff. But like how it looks was like 5% of it. Dang. So for those who are asking in the chat, if you guys do want to ask questions, feel free to ask questions. We do have moderators. You're going to be pinning them about anything, anything about Joe, anything about Cam, anything you want to, you want us to answer. We won't get to all of them because we do have the cut short today. We have our quarterly town hall with the one and only Johnny, the boss. I was like, I was going to add more to that. And I was like,
Starting point is 00:19:50 he's just the boss. Yeah, okay. What's your least favorite thing about working on the product design team and maybe cam specifically um probably my least favorite thing well i don't know um i know sometimes like my feelings get hurt based on customer feedback which which again just shows passion but every once in a while there's something that like like i feel really strongly about like the team feels good about it and then it's like not super well received or people don't care about it and it's like man i put so much work into that like y'all should love this um do you have any any examples of So one of the things we did was we made the window taller in addition to being wider. Remember that?
Starting point is 00:20:35 Yeah, that was crazy. And that like totally took me aback because I was like, yeah, I mean, you can see more on the screen. Why wouldn't you want to make it larger? I remember that as soon as I got that update, even I complained. I'm like, hey, Joe, I don't like this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I was like, dang. I forgot.
Starting point is 00:20:52 I forgot that you work with this too. So like I felt a little bad, but I was like, no, like, I actually don't like the way this looks, joke, like, please, please fix it. Yeah. And that kind of stuff, like, doesn't bother me at all. It's like, okay, yeah, I'll make an update. Like, we almost put a hot fix out, like, updated it that day almost. But I was like, for whatever reason, it just hit me weird.
Starting point is 00:21:12 It hit me different than, like, other feedback. And I, like, got kind of sad. And I, like, went out of, like, all this food and, like, ate my sorrows. Oh, no. I was like, hey, dude. that it's um yeah it's it it's like one of those things we're like we we have a really like nice and like open structure within the company where like anybody can say anything right like i mean if you if you're like in any of the slack chats like i will literally ping as many people or
Starting point is 00:21:40 or whoever it doesn't matter what level they're at if we're having issues or having concerns or people bringing stuff to us right so like sometimes i kind of have issues controlling that part and also my like angry gamer part of myself where like a change happens in the game and I'm like, why is this broken? I don't like it, Joe, fix it. So like apologies, like you felt bad. No, no, that, like that was totally fair. It just hit me different for whatever reason.
Starting point is 00:22:06 I don't know why, but it did. Yeah. It was, it was definitely one of those things like, where it was, it wasn't just me either. It was like a gut reaction from like a lot of people almost instantly on Twitter, especially on a Reddit, because that's where everyone goes to complain, right? On Reddit, for sure, face. because that's where all the boomers hang out.
Starting point is 00:22:26 And I'm like, okay, so glad it's not just me. People are legit having some issues with this, with this kind of layout here. Yeah. Well, and I think it was a combination of two things, or I guess three things. One, we changed the navigation in that update, so it moved to the left.
Starting point is 00:22:41 Two, we made it wider and we made it taller. So it was like, maybe it was too much sticker shock all at once, probably. Yeah, possibly, yeah. So, but yeah, we did shrink the window. It's because, like, you know, I mean, it's like you and I both know that there are are obviously things that we're working on, right?
Starting point is 00:22:56 And we're not going to stop making product, right? That's kind of the objective of the company, right, is to take over the world, right? We're going to do literally everything and everything because we can. But like, all of a sudden, we're like, yeah, we're making room for all this new product. Bam, the windows five times bigger.
Starting point is 00:23:12 And I'm like, oh, dude, chill out. Yeah, yeah, sometimes. Let me look at some of the questions that people are pending here, so I don't miss these. All right. Okay, so what is, going to pivot a little bit. What is your favorite NZC product? Oh, man, my favorite NZX product 100% is VH1, dude.
Starting point is 00:23:38 Like, I love that thing so much. It's like, it's so sleek. It's so cool. It, like, it would look so rat on my desk. And, like, that one was funny because we've been working on it for so long, and it was, like, so quiet. Like, it was kind of quietly announced. and then it was just like taken over by a storm.
Starting point is 00:23:57 Like I remember when they posted the promo video in Slack, I was like, dude, like we made this thing? Like, I mean, I heard about it and I knew it was coming out, but I didn't know what it was. When it came out, I was like, dude, I want that thing so bad. I'm selling some on eBay if you're interested. Yeah. Okay, so what is your least favorite NZXT product?
Starting point is 00:24:21 My least favorite NZXT product. I think we could do a little bit better with our strip lights. Like right now, it's just kind of like they're kind of pinned inside of the case, or they're like stuck to the edge of the case, and I would like to not see like the actual light force, I guess, if that makes sense. Right, right. So are you talking more like diffusing of the lights? Yeah, like diffusing, and then like I have an H5.
Starting point is 00:24:56 or a like what is it H500 and I would like to see maybe like a groove for those lights to fit in potentially so that they're not just told shin right there I know yeah no I don't want to I mean shim does fantastic work I'm sure there's some reason why they didn't do that but I noticed that when they never thought of it when they ship me in my PC I was like oh these lights are like just right here speaking of shit out of funny shin story from yesterday oh yeah go for it so yesterday I went to the office because I had to ship out a bunch of stickers, right, from the last design contest. And Shin has actually been going to the office every day. Like, he never stopped going to work.
Starting point is 00:25:37 Like, he never, you know, work from home or quarantine or anything. So I'm on my desk and I'm, you know, packing stickers and envelopes and stuff. And he comes over with his face mask and he goes, hey, what's up, man? How you doing? Oh, Shin, man, I didn't see you there. how's it like working in the office do you miss us and he's like no not really i always just tune you guys out i never pay attention to you and like oh that's nice but yeah he's like always like focused and just like you know his head down working hard doesn't stop yeah shin
Starting point is 00:26:19 shin's a cool dude i i hit him up the other day because um i was asking him if he knew what month NZT was founded and we had like a whole conversation about like you know hey how you're doing are you safe and I was like man I really miss seeing Shun like at a glance every now
Starting point is 00:26:37 and then it's just walking around the office because we don't really talk a whole lot but you know like you start to miss people even if you don't talk to them a whole lot right was he able to tell you the date by the way so it's supposed to be March right March am I wrong on that one
Starting point is 00:26:50 I can look it up somehow I think March 2004. I remember seeing the... I don't see the... I get up on like an exact date. I actually, I have a document somewhere that has the exact, like, founding.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Really? I got to look for it. Oh, yeah. I was going to ask you, but you were out on Monday because you were out. You're out because you're out. But, yeah, right. But I didn't want to bug you.
Starting point is 00:27:21 So I was like, you know, I know it's in March for sure. I just don't remember the exact. The exact date. Yeah. Let me say. Oh, so I'm already pinned this. Okay, cool.
Starting point is 00:27:34 All right. Next question here. Joe, what non-gaming product would you like to see NZXT make? Non-gaming NZXT product. Yes. I would love for us to make some, like, smart wall lighting. like have you seen those like nano leaf aura stuff? Yeah, except just not $200 each.
Starting point is 00:28:01 Yeah, exactly. One that's affordable. I would love for us to make some of those. Those would be so cool. Be like tired through cam, all that fun stuff. That'd be awesome. Ooh, it's actually a good idea. I wouldn't mind having some like more external stuff through cam because I have a key light.
Starting point is 00:28:16 You've got a key light and you control it through through Wi-Fi. There's no cable into your computer or just use your phone to say. sync it up to your home Wi-Fi and then you use your, you know, your control deck or whatever, it's called the control center on it. So that actually would be kind of neat to be able to control all your lights in your room with cam. That would be, Brad. Yeah, because I've been thinking about buying some lights in my room because, you know,
Starting point is 00:28:39 I just have like the ceiling light with like no cover on it. Yeah. It's just like super ghetto. It's been like that for like 12 years, I think. And I think it's time to kind of up my game a little bit and kind of make my e-girl bunker look a little bit nicer, you know? You should. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:56 That's kind of, I think that's the next move. All right. Final question for you, Joe, is, do you have a special shout out for anyone in the company who deserves some love? Within the company that needs some love? Yeah. I'm just kind of looking at my pins. Oh, like, I'll give a shout to Hanata.
Starting point is 00:29:14 Since Jeff has been gone, like Jeff went on maternity leave, like Hanata has picked up so much extra slack. I think it's like it was supposed to be kind of be divvied up between her and I but she's like definitely taking the brunt force of that. So huge shout out to her for like picking up a lot of extra work which has been like super helpful for everybody on the team. Yeah, she's great. Whenever we're in those meetings,
Starting point is 00:29:42 she's a part of she's always like just super, super on it. So yeah. She's been a great addition to the team. Super well prepared. Keeps everyone rolling. and keeps the work pumping out. It's been great. Yeah, no, she's the boss.
Starting point is 00:29:54 I think she used to be a Blizzard, correct? Yeah, yep. I think, yeah. Yeah, she just got... Blizzard refugees. Actually. No way. Yep.
Starting point is 00:30:05 I want a sword. What do you think? It's coming soon. You heard it here first. If we could, so, so, yeah, so like... We have an N-D-D-I think we've got two of them, right? Or just the one. And then we're two helmets.
Starting point is 00:30:19 Yeah. So like if for those who don't know Blizzard, what they do is that for every year you work there to get like a different item like a sword or a shield or something, what do you think we could do at NST? We were actually talking about that yesterday. Oh, really? Me and Jim, we're talking about it. So we got to get a body pillow. I want to. Your first year is a body pillow.
Starting point is 00:30:46 Your second is a Adidas track suit. It's just like really off the wall stuff. Year 3, sport sandals. You get to keep your job on your anniversary. Yeah. Your NJC. Your game attack on the back. Your paycheck is...
Starting point is 00:31:02 Oh. Actually, a bathroom isn't a bad idea that's like monogrammed, right? Yeah. And you have to wear it the entire day. Or maybe some like slippers. Just like a whole like, you know, a whole like a lounge set, right? Like a nice, a nice, like really thick. like velvet robe, maybe like a with like an ascot, you know, the goes with it, some nice
Starting point is 00:31:26 slippers, maybe a chair to lounge on, just give it like a whole. T-carbs pipe, like a little, what are that called? Yeah, uh, corn cobb pipe or something, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then, and then, and then, well, it'll give you a, a, a portable fireplace so that you could, so that you could be like, you know, oh, hey, I didn't see you there. After one year, you, you get a free download for Canada. a non-buggy version of cam yikes you said it not me all right moving along here Ivan i think you have some fun
Starting point is 00:32:03 questions for uh for joe i do have some fun questions for joe oh no why are you saying no no man because i can i like we were going to do video chat but i can i can i can hear you smiling through your word even though I can't do you. I guess my first question for you, Joe, is, you know, your Twitter handle here, it says you're the husband of one wife. I'm just curious, have you tried to have more than one wife? And did they say no? No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Like, that's mainly like a huge nod to my wife who is like, she's like huge on social media. So that's more of just a nod to her. Like, hey, check out her account if you want to know what's going on with me. How can you entire your account then? Yeah. But it is she, isn't it linked on my Instagram? If she's not on Twitter, is she really big on social media? She's huge on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:33:06 Like, she'd be posted on Instagram probably three or four times a day. Okay. Huge on Instagram as if like what's her, what's her following like? Um, let's see. You didn't tag on your Instagram either, dude. I thought I'm literally looking at your Instagram right now. We just followed you this morning so I could, so I can snoop on you. And first off, I see, like, I had to scroll way down to see any photo of your wife.
Starting point is 00:33:31 You have more photos of your dog than you do of your wife. More photos of your computer than have your wife. I was literally in my sixth photo, and in my sixth photo, that was 150 weeks ago. Like, that's how often I post on Instagram. I don't know, man. I mean, you're talking a lot of game, but it doesn't seem like you really walk on the walk. here. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:33:52 Let's just go back to your Twitter for a second here. So I also notice on your Twitter account that you link to a website and the website is actually expired. What's up with that? Are you having plans to reopen that website? I will reopen that website when I need a new job. But since I don't need a job, I turned it off. Well, surprise, surprise.
Starting point is 00:34:19 Speaking of jobs, so your job is a designer, then why is that website that you're linking to on Squarespace? Okay. This is actually a, like, well-kept secret within the design community. So many people use Wix, Squarespace, and all of those like freebie WordPress websites to run their portfolios. Like some of the world's best designers that are out there, some type of template. Cam is actually designed on a Tumblr blog. That's true.
Starting point is 00:34:57 100%. You know how to design by designing MySpace pages back in the day. All right, Joe, you're the husband of one wife. Are you a father? And if so, of how many? I have two kids. I have two girls, two little girls. One is about two and a half.
Starting point is 00:35:19 And the other one just turned one on May 4. And how come you don't mention that in your Twitter bio? You should say father of two daughters, if you're the husband of one wife. Okay. You got to give them some love, man. I'm an expert in my opinion, Joe. I have an NGXT to see if he will. Oh, you say world's greatest daddy, but where's your wife in there?
Starting point is 00:35:49 there, dog? I just, I only, I only care about my kid. So in my opinion, Joe, you have probably the coolest Discord name I've ever heard in my life. Oh, thanks, man. The notorious USB. Just curious how you came up with that. Um, so I'm, like, I'm a huge fan of, like, 90s hip-hop. Um, I love, like, that whole ice coast, like, jam that they had going on in the 90s. And Notorious is, like, very similar to my last name, which is Norton. So it all just kind of ended up working together. Who's your favorite? Who's your favorite 90s hip-pop?
Starting point is 00:36:35 Here we go. Here we go. I'm, like, I really like Ice Cube. Uh-huh. You can say Biggie Smalls, P. Diddy, Tupac. Their favorite Ice Cube song, Go. Oh, man. Shoot, you're going to expose me.
Starting point is 00:36:48 I'm gonna type it up right now I know I am like I'm looking to see what my top He's like my favorite My favorite esq song is Friday Yeah I mean honestly like you know how we do it It's so good
Starting point is 00:37:04 Okay A nice chill song to roll down the Yeah Like I just like the chill Like Can you give us Can you give us a Yay Yee?
Starting point is 00:37:16 Yeah Yay Yeah All right, he is definitely from California. I confirmed it. All right. So my next question for you, Joe, is why did you make me hate Animal Crossing? Because of you and the camp team, I literally rage quit that game and I muted the Switch Slack channel we have over at NZXT because you guys are driving me crazy with it.
Starting point is 00:37:42 So why did you make me hate Animal Crossing? How did I make you? hated, I guess. Well, basically, because when that game came out, you know, I was looking forward to it, like everyone else, but then I don't know why everyone at work is just, like, grinding, like crazy on that game. I actually looked up the hours that everyone on the cam team has. How many do I have? Because I don't feel like I'm really good idea that much. The average is like 60 hours per week or something crazy like that. Dude, that's not me. It's mostly Jeff.
Starting point is 00:38:16 It is 100% Jeff. Yeah, but it's like, okay, so not only Jeff, but Sitong turned into a bot for some reason. Now, like every day at 9 a.m. at 12 a.m., he spams the NZXT turn up prices. It's true. Yeah, I don't know. I guess, like, I'm just curious, do you guys spend more time playing Animal Crossing than working on cam or what's going on over there? 100% Will you will you ever add a
Starting point is 00:38:52 turn up calculator into cam Kimmy can make the app Oh snap Hold up Actually That's actually kind of a good question That I wanted to ask that I forgot to
Starting point is 00:39:08 Is that something that like you guys are Possibly maybe looking into is like adding more like Mimi type things in the cam Or is that something that we just can't do because we're just so busy making Cam the best that it possibly can be? I think it's a little bit of both. We've talked about putting in the Konami code or something in it and doing something like that. But I mean, we're just like so slammed right now. Like I think like our next opening for like that's not planned out is sometime in like the last part of October.
Starting point is 00:39:42 and that's only for like a week. It's like a week or two where we're like, hey, what's playing for like the sprint starting in October 19th? And then we'll, we have to jump on something
Starting point is 00:39:52 in like November through like February. Follow question. What's a sprint? I hear you guys talk about that a lot. And I'm, and I'm always afraid to ask. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:04 So sprints are basically like two weeks schedules where we say, hey, for these two weeks, we're going to accomplish this many things. and with each thing that's in there it's given a point value so like in a normal sprint all complete anywhere between like
Starting point is 00:40:20 like 20 to 30 points worth of work so we just like that's how we categorize like how long things will take and it's also kind of like a motivator too to like mark everything done so it's not it doesn't seem like this endless mountain of things you need to complete but more of like it puts it in more tangible groups So it seems a little easier to do. Is it true, it makes sense.
Starting point is 00:40:47 Is it true that Cam was designed on a Mac, and that's why Cam is Mac spelled backwards? Can confirm. I never realized that Cam was Mac spelled backwards. Do you actually need a Mac to be a designer? Because I noticed this morning you sounded very echoey, and we asked you why, and you said, oh, yeah, it's because I'm on a Mac. So do you need a Mac to be a designer?
Starting point is 00:41:15 Is it or what? So the software that I use is Mac only. So yeah, if you wanted to work on Cam, like with our files, then you would need a Mac. It's also developed on a Mac too. Like a lot of the dev environments are set up on Macs. It's just kind of the like go-to for everybody for like design and development. Will we ever start doing that on Windows because we are a computer company and we saw Windows computers or is that like out of the question?
Starting point is 00:41:43 You can definitely do some development on Windows. Like I go into my NZXC computer to do some like development set from time to time. And I know our devs do as well. But yeah, I mean like on the development side, like it's a little more fluid. But on design, I use an app called Sketch and that's Mac only. Oh God. half the freaking design team
Starting point is 00:42:09 or the creative team is using sketch and then they'll send us these sketch files so that we could go social assets and then they never
Starting point is 00:42:16 export them like JPEG so we can't use them and then I saw it for the first time in action last week during our
Starting point is 00:42:22 weekly creative meeting call and I was like what the heck app is that is like oh it's good it looks very very like simple
Starting point is 00:42:30 and easy to use it looks kind of cool yeah um And it's like, it doesn't use a lot of resources, which is why they have it for Mac only. Is like, for instance, my CAM sketch document has like 20 pages worth of designs with like a ton of stuff in it. And it runs like a clean document when I open it. Like it doesn't slow down at all.
Starting point is 00:42:58 All right. Moving on to my next question here, Joe, is, are you a bro? Am I a bro? I mean, sadly, people would probably categorize me as a bro as you throw in that photo. I do drive a Subaru and it's WRX and, you know, it's awesome. And I listen to music really loud. The reason I ask you, your bro is not because of your Subaru, which we'll get into in the minute, but it's because I notice that your hat is always backwards.
Starting point is 00:43:31 And you always wear hats, right? I do. Is your hat backwards right now? It is, actually. Why is your hat backwards all the time? I don't know. I just, there are no real reason I just always put on a hat when I get ready in the morning. All right, so you said you're a bro. So I guess my next follow question to that is, do you even skate? I don't, actually. Is that a prerequisite for bros to skate?
Starting point is 00:44:04 Well, if you're from California and you're a bro, yes. Don't you skateboard? I do. Wait, so does I mean you're a bro, a bro, Ivan? I would classify myself as a bro. Oh, no. I thought you were a foo. What happened?
Starting point is 00:44:24 What did you change? I'm a little bit of everything. No, I don't skate. I did ride a ton of dirt bikes growing up and that kind of stuff. You look like a skater and you dress like a skater. Like I think you're wearing a Vans t-shirt right now, right? Yeah. So why are you reping the skate culture, man?
Starting point is 00:44:48 I mean, I just like it. I like the music. Like the style. That's a good reason. So you mentioned your Subaru. I myself love Suburu I'm on my second
Starting point is 00:45:03 Subaru right now I have the Subaru Ascent I'm in the Slack Subaru channel on our at MDCT And that's Subaru Woo by the way Subaru Subaru
Starting point is 00:45:16 And as much as I love Suburus The one thing I just don't Get though Is basically like the obsession with like customizing and modifying
Starting point is 00:45:30 Subrues and you're one of those people so can you just tell me a little bit about like why you're so into just modifying your Subaru um yeah so um I like I had a truck too that I modified
Starting point is 00:45:45 quite a bit um I had a Tacoma that I like lifted and put tires and all that on it which makes me even more of a bro um yeah no but like I think specifically with the Subaru I think it's because it's so compatible with so many things out there that people just, like, gravitate towards it.
Starting point is 00:46:05 Because it's fast, it, like, handles really well and just a lot of, like, a lot of parts work for it. Like, I don't do any, like, engine stuff. I've just all done cosmetic stuff. How much money have you thrown into that Subaru of yours? I mean, less than $1,000, honestly. Probably, like, probably, really some fine. Yeah. Man, I always feel like you spent more because you're, especially, you're always talking about
Starting point is 00:46:34 these things I've never heard of and then you post a picture of it and then I was like, what did you do? I don't even know what it is. Yeah. So I bought a rear diffuser and I brought a front lip. Yeah, so it makes it. Yeah, so the front lip you can kind of see in the picture, it just makes it a little lower. And then in the back, it's like fins that face downward and it goes like underneath your car.
Starting point is 00:46:56 and it helps it like drive better um with the conditions is it actually though it does yeah like i've noticed a huge difference actually hmm i don't if i believe you to be honest you should you should drive it to california okay i think you could you uh i mean i've i've driven cross-country like um when i moved out from california to kentucky i drove cross-country I would want to go for a ride in your Subaru, get some tacos. That's right. That's what we did when I went out there. Speaking of which, so the last time you came out here, you met my good friend Andy, right?
Starting point is 00:47:39 I knew Andy, yeah. And Andy, you know, started talking about baseball and, correct me right wrong, but you're a baseball fan, right? Yeah. And Andy is very adamant about this whole pitcher wins don't matter thing. So I just want you to clarify once and for all. Do you think pitcher wins matter? 100%. 100%.
Starting point is 00:48:04 It's not the most important, but it is totally important. Yeah. I refuse to have Andy on this podcast ever again until he acknowledges that pitcher wins do in fact matter. I think the reason why he's mad is because, like, there's a couple Dodgers pitchers. that don't have a lot of wins, but supposedly have like all these good extra made-up stats that make them look good. I have no idea what's going on right now. I'm not a sports person at all. I only have one more question for you, Joe, before we move on to the community questions here.
Starting point is 00:48:45 So right after the podcast today, we're going to have our quarterly town hall. and I'm just curious, did you ask any questions to Johnny in the town hall? No, I did not. If you could ask Johnny a question, what would it be? For this town hall? Man, that's a good question. Like, I want to know, I guess when, I mean, I guess it depends on, like, L.A. and all that. But I want us to get back to, like, working in the office, have everyone working in the office?
Starting point is 00:49:18 This was like right before all of this, like we had a huge trip planned out to San Francisco and it all got canceled. So I was kind of bummed. So I'm like, I'm like itching to see everybody again. So I'm going to go back. We're pretty sure that there's a question that everyone's going to ask. Yeah. Will I ever see at everyone in the general channel for people to move their cars? Actually, it's weird because, you know, I live super close to be.
Starting point is 00:49:48 office and I drive by all the time, like when I go to the grocery store, because I go to the grocery store right across the street from the office. And, you know, we're still, we're still busy there, you know, the operations team, all the builders are there. So it's, it is really sad to, like, drive by and see, like, you know, some employees are there, but not everyone. And then, you know, yesterday I actually went inside to ship some stuff out. And it was just like, it's really like I'm with you it's kind of it is sad to know that like man like we're so far apart like I wish everyone could just go back and and go back to how things were but I don't I really don't know when or if that's ever going to happen again it's kind of crazy to think about yeah what it's
Starting point is 00:50:34 weird someone like me who's like always been remote I'm like yeah let's get back to the office man no it was just like I think it was just like like with me working remote one of the like requisites I said. It's like, yes, I love to work for you guys, but I want to come and visit. I at least once a quarter, and they seem to all be down with that. So it's been like a couple quarters now where I haven't gotten the travel. F in the chat. Everyone at F in the chat for the NZXT office, I guess. Yeah, that's the last of my quote-unquote fun questions for you, Joe.
Starting point is 00:51:12 That wasn't super fun, dude. I'm going to go make all my private now. don't let anyone know know about the secrets all right so I think yeah I think I think we're actually making some good time here so yeah feel for to ask more questions guys we're not going to answer every single one of them because believe it or not your question is probably already answered so feel free to listen to previous episodes we have a whole 41 of them
Starting point is 00:51:43 you can go through and listen to all those same questions to find your favorite So first question from Razazikiz. I never know how to pronounce this guy's name. Are there more colors coming for the H1? Have anyone to answer that one? Sure. So if you guys look at our website and you see and you just click at different cases or just products in general,
Starting point is 00:52:09 you will notice that we don't have a lot of products. We don't have a lot of colors. And that's not because we're lazy or don't want to do it. that's because we want to keep things simple. We don't want to have like a bunch of different, you know, products and make things complicated. So with that being said, you know, there are some color options for products.
Starting point is 00:52:33 The H1 is only available in two options. I don't know if we'll ever make other color options, but I do know that, you know, when people request different color options, we do let the product you know and they do consider it. And enough people ask, we will do it. In the past, we used to make a lot more colors for products, especially cases, because, you know, like five years ago, for example, we were primarily making just cases.
Starting point is 00:53:04 And we didn't have that many other products to go along with it. So we would always try to make a bunch of different colors for these cases so they can match all sorts of different colors for products. So we would have orange cases, yellow cases, green places, blue cases. And this is so you can match it with blue RAM, blue motherboard, et cetera. But nowadays, there's not that many color options either for hardware. So that's another reason why most of our cases and products in general are just black or white. Because most hardware nowadays is black and white.
Starting point is 00:53:40 Um, a few exceptions, of course, but, um, yeah, we're trying to treat it like, and it's like, you can go and with your own stuff with RBART TV. There's a, there's a really cool video that I've been shared with me the other day of this guy who, like, did this whole, like, drawing with like Sharpies on his white, um, H510. It looked super, super cool. Um, maybe if we start sharing those, well, we'll get more, we'll get more people just going, yeah, I'm, I'm going to buy the white one with the intention of like painting it almost all people by like white vans or something and we'll just paint those and make this cool designs on them yeah and you know our products are very easy to
Starting point is 00:54:17 customize so if you do want to paint it it's totally possible um we do it all the time um no johnny johnny has a purple h1 andy painted at dodgers h1 um jins looks like uh was it uh imperial or rebel stuff yeah it's like star wars yeah it's cool logo going through like two sides of it. So it started on one side and it ended on the other. It's pretty cool. Yeah. And there are people who talk about,
Starting point is 00:54:46 who posts on our subreddit on the N60 subreddit, who like, hey, hey, you know, I'm selling vinyl, you know, vinyl wraps or whatever for the H-1. So, I mean, that's also an option as well. The wood one had a problem with people doing it. Yeah, the wood ones look really dope.
Starting point is 00:55:00 Yeah. And it's definitely one of those things were like, you know a lot of people are not going to be buying a wood grain one, right? But for the people who do want it, it's like, yes, Let me grab it, right? And that's also part of the thing to you, right? It's like, but if we make another color,
Starting point is 00:55:13 that's another skew we have to carry another amount of cases that we have to potentially sell and maybe even not sell through it, right? So everything is calculated. All right. Next question. This one actually is for Joe. In the future, will Cam have a community feature
Starting point is 00:55:29 where people can make RGB profiles and share them? I'd say we're interested in that. One of the hard things with that is like, your setup of what, of like what you make with your colors will almost never work for somebody else unless they have that exact same setup, because they may not have all the same lights you have or even in the same position. So we want to do it where it makes sense. Right now, it just doesn't make sense, but we are interested in that. Yeah, and it's definitely something that we've been, that people have asked before, and I know it's like, it's like definitely a very, very much
Starting point is 00:56:08 nice to have not like necessary for the for the for for for for for for for for for work but it's super cool right so it's like you want it it's like if you can how do we allocate the resources for it and also how could we make it better than other software that does the same thing right yeah we've even looked down to like the data to see if there's like common trends of like what people are selecting in cam like if a lot of people are using the same color like white or or brown or blue or whatever. And we're seeing like they're all just so, so different.
Starting point is 00:56:40 So it's like, okay, this might be something we revisit later. Yeah, I changed my color profile. My color profiles based on the holiday. So upcoming is Memorial Day. So I'm going to do a red, white, and blue cam profile. We used to have a NZEGST CAM candlelight mode that we did for the holidays a couple years ago. It would make your computer look like a fireplace. I think Jeff uses that exclusively.
Starting point is 00:57:09 Does he really? You would. He does. That's funny. All right. Agza 25 wants to know, is there anything that would make you quit your job? Joe. Yeah, if I'd be a CEO.
Starting point is 00:57:24 Ooh. Got him. I'd fire it before you quit if I become CEO. I would promote Joe. He'd be like head of head of, bro science. Cam. Bro science.
Starting point is 00:57:38 Yeah, we have a data science team, but I would make a bro science team. Oh, bro science team. Bro, bro design. Industrial brozine. Tank top of the backward cats only. Razz also wants to know, what was the first product you designed? First product I designed was the overclocking panel in Cam. That was actually part of my hiring process was they wanted to know my thoughts on how to communicate that.
Starting point is 00:58:14 And they liked my idea. So we put it in. Where did it go? Overcocking? Yeah. Oh, there you go. I accidentally uncheck the box, which is a cool feature that cam has. You can get rid of some of the panels so you don't see them.
Starting point is 00:58:28 Whoa. Good job, Joe. As soon as you mentioned, I'm like, wait, where the heck is that overcrowding panel? I'm like, oh, yeah. I got rid of it because I'm never. going to do that. Yeah. Well, yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:40 And like even overclocking for GPU is not like even supported super well with like even manufacturers. It's kind of bootsy like even from the manufacturer. Yeah. No, that's it's definitely something that like I've seen in other programs before that I never felt worked 100% and I was always like super scared to do it, which is why we have that giant notification when you hit the tab. All right.
Starting point is 00:59:04 next question is how did you get into the gaming industry nzc.com slash careers hey there we go you're born this way you're born a gamer gamers are born not made it's true he's got to be a video game yeah
Starting point is 00:59:28 Raz wants to know again what was the biggest issue you've encountered with something you were working on? I don't have a good example that I can share. Uh-oh. Yeah. Moving on, folks. A little too spicy for this podcast.
Starting point is 00:59:47 What's your favorite case other than the H-1? Favorite case other than the H-1? Some nectar. I do recommend the elite case. My brother-in-law just bought that, and that was the case that I recommended. I think the RGV fans look good. but like kind of like what I said before
Starting point is 01:00:05 the case is really just kind of like a like a canvas just in different sizes so it depends on what you do on the inside because what you might do with an H510 elite might be totally different than what I do with it so the experience might be different yeah definitely makes sense especially with the with the RGB on it mine's currently all purple because I just got lazy
Starting point is 01:00:27 I'm like yeah it's just at purple you know that good old was it a 5-7-0000 01A, right? That's right. Just the classic. Someone asked me that the other day, like, hey, what's the purple color? And I just gave them the hex code.
Starting point is 01:00:41 And like, how do you know that? I'm like, I'm supposed to know that. It's my job to know that. It's different in the game. It's a different color. Why is that? Last five. There we go.
Starting point is 01:00:54 No, you're definitely right on that. What's the NG-XT orchid hex code? I're asking me or as in Joe because I don't know. should know because that actually is also an official nzzyxy color and that looked great on on black it does it does i just don't like the the the the bright purple i like more of a dark purple but the hex code is uh bf4 cbf oh there you go you just posted it yeah correct i told i told you look it up i just uh i just pulled it out of my brain it was in my mind palace and i pulled it out And there it is.
Starting point is 01:01:33 All right. Next question is what will we see Cam on Samsung smart fidges? It's a toughie, huh? Yeah. Probably, I don't know. I can think of anything smart. No worries. It's still early in the morning.
Starting point is 01:01:56 Kevin wants to know, how's the work environment at NZXT? It's awesome. It's great. I love it. I love that. Like, since we do work in sprints, I have two. weeks to complete my work. So if I need to, like for instance, today I got to go around and pick up my wife's car from the auto shop. I can do that. It's just like those type of small things or if my kids have something going on. I can do that as long as I'm just getting all the work done. Since it's a huge gaming culture, we're all watching Twitch strings all the time and, you know, making fun of those or watching, like checking out the new game. So it's like all of my interests with like a hundred other people with all of my same interests. It's got a neat.
Starting point is 01:02:39 Sorry, I'm getting DMs now. For some reason, it keeps hitting me. I can't not look at them. It's like a really bad habit. All right. Next question is, what's the first thing you got from NCXT? I'm assuming the first thing you purchased. Mine was in age 40.
Starting point is 01:02:55 I never went back after I bought that case. First thing I purchased, I don't think I purchased. Never? I don't think I purchased anything. No. Wow. And you call yourself a real NZXT cam fan?
Starting point is 01:03:13 I have a ton of NZXC stuff, but mainly just because, like, I have to test it all. So if, like, something comes out that I want, I'm like, except for the H1, I'm like, hey, can you send me one of those so we can work on it on cam? Would you, would you buy something from NZXT, though? I buy an H1, yeah. Okay, do it right now. eBay. eBay, dude. eBay, it's only low low, low price.
Starting point is 01:03:38 price of $900 right now on eBay. Pick it up. That's a steal if you ask me. Like from the warehouse. All right. Next question is, what new features are going to be coming to CAM?
Starting point is 01:03:56 We can't really talk about obviously what we have coming out. What we can talk about is the beta program. Yeah. I know that we've already spoken on that a few times. And I think it's better Joe explains that. Yeah, so we have a beta program coming out, which will essentially be like two or three builds ahead of what people will have in what we call production.
Starting point is 01:04:20 So in that beta, there'll be a lot of like new features coming out. And we have a pretty big one launching with beta a couple weeks after beta gets released. So if you want to know like straight from our dev environments to you, that would be the best place to check them out. What are you most worried about with that beta program? What am I most worried about? Yeah, I'm just curious. Well, we want feedback from people with beta, and the goal is to kind of get any bugs from like a small group of people
Starting point is 01:04:58 before it goes into the like 500,000 people or whatever who use it. What I'm worried about is people will go in there and say, like, how do I change the color of my RGB case? or something like that, where we're like for feedback on like new features that we're releasing. Because then it means that like beta is not super helpful at that point if people aren't. Providing feedback. Yeah. If it's more like bug fixes that aren't related to us or cam or anything.
Starting point is 01:05:31 Yeah. I'm definitely hoping that like we have more of like a superfan kind of base who uses the beta, right? sometimes people will like use a beta just to use it but i really hope that it's used in the and the way that it's intended which is to help us like really like dial down what can make him even better for literally everybody else uses it right yeah yeah we're looking for people with like technical knowledge who like can kind of think through some things or like talk about how things could be better rather than like they don't like this or like this is bad Okay.
Starting point is 01:06:11 All right. Next question is, what do you think of the new PS5 demo? I watched a little bit of it. I watched the Unreal Engine demonstration on it, which seemed cool. Of course, everyone's like, what does this mean for Fortnite? It's like, Fortnite's not going to change, man. It's going to be the same. Yeah, I don't see it.
Starting point is 01:06:33 I see it the same way as like a concept car, right? It's like a cool robot car. and like this auto show, and you're never going to see it, like, actually on the streets, right? Yeah, you'll see it, like, a couple years later. Like, I could see that demo, like, the people who made Jedi Fall in Order or, like, those type of, like, Omega AAA games, like, utilizing some of that, but it's not going to be, like,
Starting point is 01:06:54 even the good games that are out. Like, some people talk about maybe Grand Theft Auto 6. Being built on that, it could be cool, but we'll see. Yeah, but I also think that isn't, like, doesn't Rockstar have their own engine for that stuff, right? I think they literally have their own, like, it's all in the house, no?
Starting point is 01:07:12 I don't know. Far as far as I know, yeah. Because there's no way that any of the engine has that wonky of like a walking, tripping over everything system. That's got to be unique to Rockstar, dude. Grand Theft Auto 6 actually exists. It's just been loading for so long.
Starting point is 01:07:30 That Grand Theft Auto 5 loading screen, that's like the, my God, that's like the longest. this loading screen in the history of video games. I think they intend to make it because of the artwork that's there at the loading screen. Maybe. It's scary. All right.
Starting point is 01:07:49 Next question is, what about releasing NZXT RAM? We are and we're going to call it goat. Do you like NZXT and what would you? you want to change? So I'm going to answer half of that for Joe. He loves NZT. He loves N60 so much that he's never bought a single N60 product. What would you change about NXD? That doesn't change, I'm sorry. Yeah, I know, dude. What I would change, man. I don't know. I mean, like all of our products. I like the way our products are going. But, yeah, I like it. It's great. It's great quickly. All right.
Starting point is 01:08:35 you you heard to hear first folks n60 is literally perfect nothing should ever change we're good to go okay um let me pick up um here's a what is one thing you would like to most what is the thing you would like the most to design um yeah so um i love designing actually apparel like t-shirts sweatshirts that kind of stuff um and i have the opportunity to do that. Some things just popped up where I can do that. So outside of like software, I like making, like designing tangible things that you can hold. And like apparel is like one of those things where it's like I can design something, make it, print it, wear it, and put it on and like feel it. And I like doing that. You can technically wear a cracket now. I mean,
Starting point is 01:09:28 that's kind of, you know, just wrap it around yourself. Liquid, pull my part, just plug it right in. Like a chain or something, right? All right. I got one more here. Unfortunately, we do have to start hopping off soon, guys. But last question is from Hatsili. How does hearing criticism about Cam make you feel? And does it give you any motivation to make it better?
Starting point is 01:09:50 Yeah. I love seeing people post about Cam. I think the criticism is probably the most helpful thing. Because when people sometimes put solutions, we likely thought of that or we likely can think of 10 other reasons why that wouldn't work. So instead of why I think the solutions are helpful to some degree, but for somebody to give criticism of what they don't like or what they're trying to do or what they're trying to accomplish with it,
Starting point is 01:10:18 that helps us kind of fill in the pieces on how to accomplish that. And those are the types of Reddit posts that like we share internally or those tweets or whatever of somebody running an issue that like we try to solve is when, somebody has like thoughtful criticism or they've taken the time to like talk about what they want to do in cam and like those things that go really far with us all right i think that's the last one i'm gonna answer here because we do got to do a community roundup and then we got to start getting ready for our for our town hall super excited for that can't wait um all right uh and all right it's going to be weird doing it all through zoom do you think johnny's going to have a cool background i'm i'm positive you will uh what's done hall town hall so hopefully it's that was oh that would suck yeah jim told me that he designed a custom background for johnny for today that's going to be great i'm sure it's going to be cool uh what's town hall so the town hall is something we do
Starting point is 01:11:25 every single quarter where all the heads of all the departments basically present what we've been doing what we're working on success as failures and just you know overall snapshot of the company and then people get to ask questions like when are you fixing the bathrooms or when are we getting snacks back into the cafe or you know when are we going to work on this yeah more parking spots but it's like a chance for anybody in the company whether you're someone who works you know like cleaning up or who works as, you know, like a COO to ask a question to a Johnny to address. So it's pretty cool. I think it's a good idea.
Starting point is 01:12:05 And like, you know, it's, you get different feedback from different people who you normally would never hear from, right? Would you think it's super important? For real, though. Where's that parking? We need it. I heard it's really bad now in the office, right? Like, it's still super, super bad.
Starting point is 01:12:20 Not even that we need to be fixed. We just need it to be a problem again. It's probably the biggest thing. It's a good problem to have. Yeah. All right. Come in your round up. So number one, setup winner.
Starting point is 01:12:31 Congratulations to Omi and Team Earth for winning the setup of the week. Don't forget, guys. We do have a setup contest every single week. Head down to the setup channel in the Discord server, discord.g.g. ZXT to participate. The wallpaper winner is from Encrypted. Congratulations.
Starting point is 01:12:48 And Team Earth again. Team Earth winning all of a sudden. Look at that. I think for like weeks there were like last. or second to last place. Coming up now, coming up. A couple of other important announcements. So NZXT and Designed by Humans
Starting point is 01:13:03 teamed up together to release a T-shirt for charity, for direct relief that directly impacts COVID-19. 100% of the proceeds go to direct relief, and we also are going to be matching $10 for every sale that we make. And if you do buy one of the shirts and you're in the Pucci Cup. Mom, Amanda, will be giving you some Pucci Cup coins if you can send her your confirmation that you have purchased a shirt.
Starting point is 01:13:31 So someone please, thank you. I have. I appreciate it. And one more important and kind of sad announcement. So due to the COVID-19 stuff and due to us having to figure out how to get these stickers to you guys, we unfortunately have to delay our upcoming design contest, which Joe is totally going to participate in and possibly win. So yeah, right, totally 100%.
Starting point is 01:13:56 He just told me before this podcast started. He's like, oh man, I wanted to do this design contest. Yeah, so it's going to be delayed a little bit. Stay tuned for more info on the next design contest. If you guys have any suggestions or feedback or anything you want to ask about the design contest or maybe even future contests, definitely let us know we're always listening to you guys for anything you want to do. Doesn't mean we'll do it, but we're always listening,
Starting point is 01:14:25 aka just deem Amanda all day every day. She loves it. Also, don't let Nibbler win again. Yeah, don't let Nibler win again. I mean, I love when she wins because she has awesome designs, but, you know, get to give her some competition out there. She's really good. Also, I forgot to mention, too.
Starting point is 01:14:44 The Designed by Humans charity shirt was actually designed by Nibler, so there you go. You know, imagine entering a contest and then getting paid by NZXT design stuff for them. Pretty cool if you ask me. All right. And I think that's it.
Starting point is 01:14:59 Unless you guys have anything you want to throw in there. Ivan, Joe. I just want to thank Joe for coming on the podcast. It was great having him make a solo appearance. You know, it was cool having him with the cam team last time too, but I think it was a lot more fun just having him on here, and I hope he had fun. I did have fun.
Starting point is 01:15:22 Thank you. Thanks for having me. I appreciate it. Who would you nominate to be on the podcast next, Joe? Do you what? Who would you nominate to be on the podcast next? I'm just kind of looking to my podcast next. Do you think you should do it?
Starting point is 01:15:36 What do I think should do it? It's going to do it. Y'all should talk to Veroon. Maroon's a lot of fun. You've been trying to. Yeah, we're trying to get ruin on here. I think if he sent him some words of encouragement, some words of encouragement, he might hop on.
Starting point is 01:15:54 It's a little camera slash Mike Shy. But I think we can do it, right? I think we can do it. All right, Alex would be good, too. Ooh, yeah, Alec would be great. We can have his dog on too. He can speak. He's got a huge, overweight.
Starting point is 01:16:09 What is it? What kind of dog? It's huge. Corgi. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, his corgi is a. a big boy. All right, guys.
Starting point is 01:16:18 With that, thank you for joining us, Joe, and thank you to everyone who tuned in.
