Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, everyone. You guys ready for the podcast? It's a channel open? Someone, there, yeah. You spamming already? Let's go. Andy, you ready, homie? You ready to go?
Starting point is 00:00:12 Yeah. How about you, Poppy? You ready? I'm always ready. Perfect. Hello, and welcome everyone to episode 43 of the NZXT Clubcast, the official podcast of the NZXT community. This podcast is recorded live every third.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Thursday at 10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time of the official NZC Discord server and is available to stream wherever you listen to your favorite podcast, call me Rap God. My name is Dennis and with me as always is Ivan. Where's the outline? It's in my browser right now. Our special guest this week is someone who is no stranger to the community, no stranger to the Discord, no stranger to the podcast. Andy. Yo! Hi, hi, you and Andy. All things considered, I'm doing okay. All things considered as in like the state of the world? The NPR show or are we talking like... I mean, I love All Things Considered. I'm more of a morning edition guy because I'm working when All Things Considered is on and I just forget about it.
Starting point is 00:01:23 But every morning when I wait, I probably said this on the podcast. I yell at my smart device to play NPR. and I just listen to my local radio station, KCRW. Shout up to them. There it goes. Nice photo of Andy. Where's that from, by the way? Who's that photo from?
Starting point is 00:01:45 I think that's from the Linus Tech Tips Expo. What photo? Oh, in the podcast channel. Yeah. Oh, no, that's Computex. Computex. That's a... Where's that again?
Starting point is 00:02:00 Taipei. Taipei. I have a picture of Andy and his dad if you want to see. You have my dad? Yeah. Oh. So Andy, please explain this picture for those who are not listening live on the server. So in the before times, I don't remember.
Starting point is 00:02:24 It feels like ages ago. It feels like three years ago at this point. I went to spring training before the baseball season happened. or to be more specific did not happen. And I was at the Dodgers and Rangers spring training facility. And me and my homie were trying to get autographs, which we couldn't do-do, no one wanting to cite autographs because of COVID. Would you say do-do, Andy?
Starting point is 00:02:55 Guilty. I can help it. Sorry, I'm on a mood today. It's all good. So we were just walking in like the main carousel area. And then my friend goes, is that Raleigh Fingers? Hall of Fame pitcher from the Oakland A's in Milwaukee Brewers? You'd say exactly like that?
Starting point is 00:03:18 No, but I needed to, I needed to, you know, give some more context. You know when you like retranscripts and they add the brackets, that was a bracket for those. who didn't know. I added that in to give our listeners more context. Right, right. And I'm like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:41 And me and my friend, we anticipated to get all the autographs. We literally, like, we bought six official M-O-B balls thinking, like, we'll get these for players that we love,
Starting point is 00:03:54 like, for the good players. Then we bought a bucket of like 40 balls, and we're like, we're going to use these bucket balls for the players we don't really care. about like you know just just so we can just get their
Starting point is 00:04:05 autograph literally none of that happened um I don't know where he's going with this oh so we were seeing Raleigh's fingers and um wait wait you saw Raleigh finger or you saw Raleigh's fingers
Starting point is 00:04:19 both make sure that we're Raleigh Fingers that's his name Raleigh Fingers You have like large fingers with like long and like thin or were they like I mean pictures need good hands so what's he like
Starting point is 00:04:31 what's the ideal hand type for a pitcher? I don't know. And he knows nothing about baseball. He's the wrong person to ask. Oh, don't even, Ivan. Don't even. Don't freaking even. Ever since I've met Andy,
Starting point is 00:04:48 even like in the job interview, I remember when I was interviewing him, like the reason why I recommended we hire Andy is because his takes on baseball made no sense to me. And I could tell, I could just have a good time talk me about baseball. Like in our job interview, we just talked about like...
Starting point is 00:05:05 The show for like half of it. Yeah, the show for most of it. MLB the show. The things he was telling me about baseball, I was like, this guy's ridiculous, this hire him. Did you make the right choice? I think so. Because I do enjoy talking to you about baseball
Starting point is 00:05:20 because the things you say about baseball are hilarious. Well, let me just finish this Raleigh-Finger's story. So I met Raleigh. He's known to have one of the best moustaches in baseball. baseball. I'm growing out a mustache. And when I'm like, since we weren't getting any autographs, we went up to him and he was charging. It was like 20 bucks, which is nothing. Like lesser players charge like $100. And his wife said, you wanted to take a picture with him. And I said, yeah. And then when I took the picture, I went up, I said to him, I'm like, you know, I'm growing
Starting point is 00:05:55 out my mustache to be like yours. And that's kind of true. And he's, and he's, said keep at it so i have wait did you say the did you say he was charging you to take a photo with them no for an autograph he had a table he had a table um it was like some of the money went to some charity um uh okay okay i think he wasn't just charging straight up hey you want to see what a signature gave me five dollars it was really random because it was at the rangers ballpark and the only like is at the rangers ballpark and having a milwaukee brewer slash oakland a just doesn't doesn't make sense doesn't make sense but i got his autograph and that was literally the only autograph one of the only autographs that i got what other autographs did you
Starting point is 00:06:52 get andy sin chuchu on the texas rink what to say what would you say to me he's a um he's a um South Korean baseball player. He's pretty good, or was. I don't know if he's still good. I got it through the batting cage. He was signing an autograph and I went up to him. And I was like, hey, and he's like, go to the ball. And then I did, and I got the autograph.
Starting point is 00:07:22 And correct me if I'm wrong, Andy, but you have never played the sport of baseball, right? I have. Like from kindergarten to second grade. and then like softball and PE why do you like baseball so much it's fun it's interesting I like
Starting point is 00:07:42 even though people say it's boring it is a slow pace sport but there's a lot of tension in it yeah it's funny because I love baseball too and I grew up I played baseball most of my life I played from like kindergarten all through high school
Starting point is 00:08:00 school and like the last five years since I've been married and you know having a kid like I've been really depressed and sad watching baseball because the Dodgers have been killing me every year and it's a double-edged sword yeah and I get this last year in particular I was just like fed up with baseball and I was like complaining that the season was too long and you know I always get my heart broken in the in the playoffs and whatnot and then now that you know we don't have baseball. This year I actually really missed it and I went back and I watched that Ken Burns documentary baseball and his documentaries are so good but they're so dense. Yeah it's freaking long and then you know started getting really into super mega baseball the video game so now like I'm
Starting point is 00:08:52 super I'm super back into like obsessing over baseball so you and I have some unfinished business to talk about. Uh-oh. Oh, no. So before we get into that real quick, so for those who are new to the show, Andy, just real quickly, let us know what do you do at NZXT, just so people don't think we brought some random person to talk about baseball all day? I'm just the baseball guy, you know?
Starting point is 00:09:18 I just talk about baseball and all baseball-related things. Actually, his official title, for those who don't know, Johnny is a huge fan of baseball, and he literally hired someone just so he can go around and ask people how their teams are doing. Did you hear what the Mariners did? Yeah, so basically he's provided with this giant list of all the employees and where they come from, right? They're hometowns. So he'll walk up to them every now and then. They kind of like emulate that like, you know, regular office experience.
Starting point is 00:09:48 So if you see, for example, there's like, you know, someone who's from Arizona. He looks up because he goes, okay, Arizona. It walks up to that to that employee. He goes, hey there, ex-employee. I see you're from Arizona. how those diamondbacks doing. And then they have a whole conversation. And like everyone, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:03 just is really happy because they have these chats. Yeah. It's like an office pet, but we don't have to feed them. He feeds himself. Yeah. I drink all the boba. And I don't know what else I eat.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Does that work? Andy, you're on PR. What do you do on PR? I just contact all media and YouTube. Just coordinating reviews, getting out announcements such as the NZXTH1, which I think I was on after that announcement. But securing all the reviews, talking to all the media outlets,
Starting point is 00:10:43 and dealing with that outreach, writing the press releases, help organizing events that aren't happening anymore. Oh, I'm sorry. No, it's all good. But yeah, you know, just and just, help out wherever I'm needed in the marketing team. Yeah, Andy came up to me in the office during the before times. And he's like, hey, I need, it's like, I want to do something for community at Linus Expo.
Starting point is 00:11:15 What do you think? So I'm like, sure, you know, so I write up a, you know, like a little mini proposal to have like a little community meetup at Linus Expo. So you guys would have been able to beat me and Andy. Maybe I've been to felt like traveling, but probably not. most likely Vivian and whoever else decided to come with us. But yeah, Rip all you guys. But thanks to Andy for setting all that stuff up. Maybe hopefully next year, right, we can start attending more events and start dragging me along if you want.
Starting point is 00:11:45 Yeah, it's going to be interesting. Who knows? Like, that's all I'll say on events. Who knows? Yeah. So, like, besides the. how much has like your job really changed since it was usually below what like a like a a lot of emails and stuff right that you would send out to to I mean it's it's pretty much
Starting point is 00:12:08 normal I mean I could operate remotely just the hardest stuff is shipping right because I had more control over it um because like I could just say hey Sam ship this and then he would totally do it. But now it's just because everything's remote, it's just, it takes a little longer. And just communication, intra office communication
Starting point is 00:12:38 is just slightly harder. You're telling me. Yeah, I know. Like, honestly, this might be the first conversation I've had with you since we played Twitch Sing's in a non-work meeting. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Is that, is that, is that? No, it's like, that's, should I reach out more? If you want, I mean, I'm always here. But you know what? I meant like yes or no, though, Andy. Yes. Would you like me to reach out more out? That was me just playing hard to get.
Starting point is 00:13:09 Okay. Dang, okay, chill, dude. It's quarantine hours right now. But you know what I mean? Like, it's just harder to just, like, just, I don't know, just simple parts of human interaction are just a lot harder these days. I tried talking last night to Andy and his microphone is horrible.
Starting point is 00:13:29 That's how he sounds. That's how you sounded last night too. By the way. You want to go on Discord and you're just like, just use in-game chat. But yeah, we played super mega baseball last night, Ivan and I. some might not call that a game
Starting point is 00:13:57 it's more like batting practice for me to be honest I mean yeah I beat Andy like what was the score like 15 to 2 to 3 yeah but the first time you played it was funny it was like an extra innings game we played 15 entire innings we played for like over two hours. And what was funny about it was Andy's, no, this is the first time Andy and I have played against each other in this game. And we were both excited. And like Andy's first at bat, he hits this like massive home run. And then he starts, that's when I had hope. He starts typing in the game like, oh yeah, like let's go, baby. And then I got really mad. So then I said downtown. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:14:45 you said downtown. So the very next batter, I just beaned him right in the head and knocked them. I take a penalty? No. No. Is that penalties for knocking out into the player? Well, the player got, like my pitcher's mojo went down. It depends. If it's an accidental hitting, they just are awarded for space.
Starting point is 00:15:11 But if it, like, there's times when players intentionally throw at another player for whatever reason because baseball players are the pettiest human beings on this planet. Like some, like, I've seen the story of like one guy hit a home runoff someone like five years ago and he didn't for in like the guy like looked at it too long and he like threw at him. Like it's it's just incredibly petty stuff. Then they might get ejected. And then they might get suspended or find. It just depends on it's all.
Starting point is 00:15:47 context. How long does a game of Super Mega baseball take? You can set it so it's like anywhere from one inning to nine innings, but... A one inning game is just stupid. Yeah. On average, most people play five innings. And that's like, that can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes on average, I would say. We essentially played two games.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Yeah. Or more, man. We were, like, well, three games, if we're doing a five-ending. It was late. You played like over a couple hours. What if you had, what if you had like an office super mega baseball league? I want to. Amanda got the game.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Is she? Yeah. So for someone who doesn't care about baseball, so this is how boring I think baseball is, okay? I actually really enjoy watching soccer or football, right? If you're from literally any of the country in the world. Football America. No, that's all of medicano, right? Or football, or footie ball, or feetball, depending if you're in a really odd country.
Starting point is 00:16:54 Sell me on Super Mega Baseball, why should I get this game for $44? Okay. It's kind of expensive. So the cool thing about Super Mega Baseball is that while I agree with you, baseball is probably the most, and I'll say boring, even though I'm a baseball fan, I admit it's a boring, long game, you know, like compared to like basketball or football or hockey or soccer, which is like nonstop action and baseball is more laid back. The cool thing about Super Mega Baseball is that it's done like in an arcade type of style. Like if you remember NBA Jam games from back in the day.
Starting point is 00:17:38 Yeah, you do. NBA Shook a lock. Yeah, exactly. Like there's stuff like that in the game. like you know instead of saying like he's on fire like you have mojo and ego like so your team goes up and down and there's all sorts of cool things like for example when i when i beamed andy in the head like the animation of his player getting knocked out is hilarious like he spun around and uh face face down uh or if a player gets a bad you know they might grab the bat
Starting point is 00:18:06 and like break it on their leg um so it's done in a fun way and that's number one and number two like the mechanics of the game like pitching, fielding, hitting, all that, it's actually very realistic.
Starting point is 00:18:22 It's not, that part is not, it's not dumb down just because it looked cartoony. So that's the other aspect of it. And because you can adjust what they call the ego rating in the game,
Starting point is 00:18:35 you know, like going from easy to like super hard, it does get very challenging. And the third thing I like about it that I would probably sell you on this game is that there's tons of people who play it. And it's actually, you don't have to download the, or pay for the game to play with what they got called, they have this game mode called Pennett Race, which it's a five-inning online matches. You play with people all over the world. And it's cross-platform. So you can be
Starting point is 00:19:04 playing against people like on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, or PC. And that part is free. And that's like honestly like the most fun aspect of the game is that is the pennant race because you're depending on your skill level you're lumped into like groups and you basically just climb up the ranks and play against each other and people at your skill level to see who has the most wins and it's done on a weekly basis so at the end of the week you can see how you rank up and oh it's just a fun game man um and super you can you can either play like really casual or take it super serious you know Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:42 I agree with Ivan. But I'll add from, I'm a big fan of MLB the show. It's probably my favorite PlayStation game. It's a really good baseball simulator. It's really realistic, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And this does a good job of balancing the realism with an Arcadia experience. I think it's important, yeah. Like, I like how they do the pitching mechanics
Starting point is 00:20:15 and the hitting mechanics. At least the hitting is very similar to the show. But the pitching, I kind of like better than the show. The thing, this is really super nerdy, like, thing to complain about. I'm ready for it. The pitches that are in the game don't reflect reality. Like a two-scene fastball doesn't go parallel to the ground. It goes a little like 45-degree angles to the ground.
Starting point is 00:20:50 Like they just, no one throws a forkball these days. They don't have my favorite pitch, the splitter. They don't. But like, if you can get over that, which I have, It's just a very minor gripe. Like, it's a very solid, easy baseball game. Right. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:17 Is there a manager mode? Let's say I don't want to play the game to play it. I just want to play it to basically simulate if I owned a team in an alternate reality where I was born in the money. There is a franchise mode, but I haven't explored that. Okay. Okay. Well, how it is in the show is you create a team. and you just like run it and acquire players.
Starting point is 00:21:42 The same thing with Super Mega Baseball. Yeah. The other cool thing you can do is Super Mega Baseball that you can't do with the show. So like all the teams of Super Mega Baseball are goofy. Like, you know, I play as the Hot Corners and my team logo is a piece of corn. It's really cheesy.
Starting point is 00:22:01 It's super cheesy. And then there's like all these. Yeah, like you can customize all these teams however you want. So like, the names are pretty fun. I had a game called the Poochee, like the Poochis or something like that. But the other thing is like there's all these mods and you can import like real Major League Baseball rosters. And the stats for the players and teams, they get them from this other really great baseball game called Out of the Park Baseball, which it's basically like that game, if you ever seen it, it's basically like a spreadsheet.
Starting point is 00:22:35 I couldn't figure it out. Yeah, it's just spreadsheets. It's like the ultimate baseball stat, nerds, video game. And like, it's super accurate. So the players that you're importing with the mods, it's just like, it's almost like you're bringing in players from the show in a lot of ways. Yeah. Um, once how dope the name the show is, by the way, just like just real quick.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Like, you have Madden, right? And you have like NBA 2K as a pretty and Sheldon name. But it will be the show just sounds more like, I don't know. It sounds like a very like hardcore, impressive, like experience, right? When I think of the show, I'm thinking like in like big lights in your face and there's like a bunch of music playing. I don't know. That's why they call wouldn't like you go up to the major leagues like, oh, you got called up to the show.
Starting point is 00:23:27 Oh, is that what that is? Yeah. Yeah. The reason I talked about the show so much with Andy in his job interview is because I had never played it until. like that week. Like literally the day before the interview was the first time I ever played the show. And I played it
Starting point is 00:23:43 I think at E3. And I fell in love with the game just from playing that like, you know, a couple of minutes at E3 and I was super bummed out to find out that the game was not available on PC. Well. It's actually coming to PC next year, right? I don't know about PC, but it's coming to other consoles. So it's not a Sony exclusive anymore.
Starting point is 00:24:05 At least Xbox and Switch. Yeah, it's crazy that they're, that they're, I think, I think that might have been like a MLB decision or something, right? Or like whoever owns the actual license for that game, like gives it out to who is it, Sony, right? Well, I know that, I think I know the story of why that is. Ooh, okay, let's go, Andy. So, 2K had the license for MLB. Right. And so EA, you.
Starting point is 00:24:38 to have a baseball game which was really well regarded MVP baseball 2004 is considered like the best baseball game of all time um so 2K got the license but they were the exclusive license for third party developers so like you know you obviously 2K games EAs yada yada so they had the exclusive license and they basically killed it um okay they did a horrible job with it um the show like or 2K like everyone hated 2K games baseball but the only reason why sony could make it because they're a first party developer right so they just kept on making it and making it and then it became the best baseball game in town and um 2K just gave up so for so basically for the longest time that's why sony's the only platform which
Starting point is 00:25:38 a baseball game is because of that stupid agreement that 2K games made with MLB. So now since things are becoming more fluid in terms of like, like, you know, Xbox game pass is on PC. And you know, cross platform with Fortnite and all that stuff. So I think MLB realizes that they're losing an opportunity and Sony's stances on, you know, making cross-platform games has weakened. So they're just kind of sharing the love, so to speak, in 2020. I think that's part of it is like you have all these other sports games like the Maddens, the NBA's, right?
Starting point is 00:26:23 They're on every other console as well. And I'm pretty sure whoever's getting somebody on the back end is like, hey, we can make more money if you sell this game, literally everywhere else, as opposed to just one console, right? Yeah. It's part of it too. Because, like, I mean, if you just sell your game, especially like a sports game, to only one portion of the gaming audience,
Starting point is 00:26:45 then you're literally negating everybody else who could play that game. People with a switch or an Xbox or a PC or even a tablet if you want to throw it on a tablet or something, right? So I think from that perspective, definitely makes a lot of sense as well. Yeah, I mean, and also, again, the reason why they didn't it because it's a Sony made game. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:03 It was a selling point. like I'm gonna I mean even still I'm still gonna get a PS5 over an Xbox series X partially because of the show I feel will be better on PS5 also get it on PC but I just want a PS5 I feel that all right um since we're just going to chill in right now we have a couple of questions just go through some of these and see uh you know just go go through some of those maybe we'll spark another debate over baseball um I'll think about the game uh oh Actually, hold up. One more question about Super Mega Baseball.
Starting point is 00:27:39 If two people are playing, can somebody spectate? They're expecting a match. There's ways through Steam. Like, you can broadcast. Like, I don't know if there's an in-game client, but you can. I know, I know Andy was broadcasting our first match because he asked to chat with me, and I told him no, because my wife was sleeping. And then I could just, and I left his mic on, like, I can hear him talking.
Starting point is 00:28:06 He was talking to someone during the whole game. I realized that too. And I was like, who the heck is this guy talking to? I realized that, like, midway through him, like, oh, he could probably hear me. Yeah, I can hear you talking to someone. And then it was funny because when I hit you in the head and knock your guy out, I can hear you go, oh, come on now. I'm actually kind of surprised that there's cross-platform play on this game. I'm looking at the Steam list right now.
Starting point is 00:28:36 That's actually really, really cool. Yeah, it's good. Dang it. I even talked it up to me before, and I was interested in it. Then, like, once the reviews dropped for it, it just kind of sealed the deal. And I'm like, okay, I'm going to get this game. It's definitely the best baseball game you can get on a PC. I also have it on Switch.
Starting point is 00:28:58 The only baseball game. Well, that's true. I have it on Switch, and to be honest, I don't like it as much because, Everything is super tiny. I honestly could barely see the baseball, but I'm also really old. Yeah, I can confirm that. I prefer to play it on PC,
Starting point is 00:29:20 even though it is cross-platform, and I have it on Switch. One day I think I might want to play it on Switch, like if I'm on a road trip or something. I'm tempted to buy it on Switch, but I back in the day would have the show on my PSP and, you know, place, PS3.
Starting point is 00:29:37 and I like never played the PSP one because I've just gone the PS3 one. So it was just like, oh, what's the point? Yeah. All right. But really questions. Sorry, go on. No, like, just like when the show goes multi-platform, if it's on PS5, switch, and PC, there's a high probability that would get all of them.
Starting point is 00:30:05 that's so crazy to me that someone would buy games multiple times from multiple platforms but you know like well I actually I do that a lot and I do it I do it when I really want to support the the company behind the game and the company behind this game it's called the metal hit like they're super active with their community like they've already patched the game three times after listening to people's different complaints about things. And like on the loading screen, they promote their subreddit.
Starting point is 00:30:43 And they're on their subreddit, like, daily, like, answering questions. So I, for me, like, I didn't mind spending, like, $100, I guess, because I just want to support a cool company like that. Also, there's different cross-saving. Is there cross-saving?
Starting point is 00:31:02 Oh. Not that I'm aware of, but like, I'm not paying this much on on my switch. But I wouldn't do my season mode. Oh, maybe I would. Disregard. I know with the show,
Starting point is 00:31:15 at least from like PSP to PS3, there was some sort of cloud saving. The thing that's also cool about the show is you can use your characters from road to the show. They started, so you can import them into the next year. So I have an Andy that I've been using for three years who's quite good.
Starting point is 00:31:36 Oh, yeah? Is he a heavy hitter, Andy? I don't hit, I pitch. And then even when I do pitch, I won the Silver Slugger one year. I like, you're like, no, I just pitch. I'm not a hitter. Don't you want to be a hitter, though? Like, isn't it like the ultimate dream?
Starting point is 00:31:52 Pitching is my favorite part of baseball. Really? Mm-hmm. Okay. Even though pitcher wins don't matter? They don't. And why is the favorite part? I like the battle between the hitter and pitcher.
Starting point is 00:32:06 It's just basically, like, you have, it's like you have, it's like rock paper, scissors in some regard or Pokemon. That might be a better, like, you know, like the pitcher has to analyze the hitter, know what their weaknesses are, and basically exploit them. Then also the hitter, like, knows the pitcher's strengths and tries to, you know, shrinks and weaknesses and tries to figure out how to get them. So this is game of, like, cat and mouse. Like, who has the upper hand? Uh-huh. It's just, it's just like...
Starting point is 00:32:42 I don't think about baseball, so I'm just listening. But I don't know, it's just, it's interesting. Like, you know, like, you change the love, like the eye level of the pitch, or you try to screw up their timing by throwing something off speed
Starting point is 00:32:55 after throwing like eight different fastballs and you just kind of go like, got them. And then also handedness gets involved. Like, do I throw a right-handed, if I'm a left-handed pitcher, or do I throw a right-handed hitter, a curveball?
Starting point is 00:33:09 all like it's it's a complicated sport even though it looks simple right no yeah I mean I know for sure there's like more to it right there's there's like anything right anything that looks simple usually really isn't
Starting point is 00:33:24 unless it's like checkers right even checkers some people add some really crazy rules on the checkers I know about you guys but whenever I would play checkers as a kid I was taught that when you got one of your checker people to the very end of the board and they got kinged or whatever is called crowned they can then move up and down any lane as far as they want they can't overtake anything
Starting point is 00:33:53 so they have to land like not right next to them but they'll get eaten up but if they wanted to they could go from one end to the other provided that there's like a diagonal that they can go down I don't know if I'm the one who like played with that rule set I don't know where I learned that's how you're supposed to play I just played. Is that really? I don't know any checkers strategy, just other than being a queen. Is it queen?
Starting point is 00:34:17 Well, because, like, queen, I think it was king or queen? I don't know. And every great king, there is a queen doing some stuff. Monarch me. Yeah, monarch me. Crown me, right? But, like, if you think about it, what's the point of having this crown on your head if you're, you know, if you're like confined to the same rules as the other pieces, right?
Starting point is 00:34:43 So you should be able to move all the way down. I think, you know, obviously it's unfair if you can just eat people up from like half across the board. But if you can at least, you know, move more spaces than everyone else and it does make it more difficult, right? I don't know. Maybe just me. I don't know how I should be talking about this checker's thing. I mean, I've been talking about fastball. Yeah, but like, when's the last time you heard someone?
Starting point is 00:35:08 actually talk about like checkers, right? Uh, semi-recently, actually. All right. Good to know. Submit your checker-related questions to nzxte.com slash podcast. It doesn't exist, but do it anyway. All right. Uh, question for Frito, Bandito, aka Andy from PSG.
Starting point is 00:35:33 Uh, what do you love about NZXT? working or product wise yes both why not Andy you choose you want to choose you want to choose you want to answer this is your podcast now it's my my podcast um you're also going to edit it afterwards
Starting point is 00:35:52 oh I can do that um what I like is I mean I like the culture the community around just being around people who are like-minded, you know, like literally what we were doing these past 36 minutes, talking about, you know,
Starting point is 00:36:15 a baseball and a baseball video game, you know, talking about video games, PC building, you know, just the people around it, NZXT, are really great. And that's one thing I miss the most about not working in the office. Because I'm just in my room all day.
Starting point is 00:36:37 I have a puppy, but, you know, puppies don't talk to you about hardware. I mean, they could have you trained it well enough. Yeah, maybe. You know, I'll be in the room with you all day. Oh, no. She hangs with my sister, then I'll pluck her. Whose dog is it?
Starting point is 00:36:59 Is it a family dog or is it your dog? I believe I have ownership in the event I move out. How was that determined? Who owns the dog? I don't know. Just talking? Yeah. I paid for the adoption fees, but I'm not going to lord that over my sister.
Starting point is 00:37:26 That's what I believe I. In court. Yeah, exactly. if it ever becomes like a legal dispute between you and your sister because I hope it doesn't come to that but I dude like listen right like when it comes to like money and animals sometimes blood don't matter right
Starting point is 00:37:44 so you've got to like make sure you have all your ducks in a row you got your legal paper set up for the inevitable fight that's going to ensue over this dog and you don't want to be displayed for the world like on Judge Judy because you know what's going to happen right she's retiring Is she really? I think so.
Starting point is 00:38:02 Or she's having a new type of judge show. What's the difference in this? I just read somewhere that Judge Judy's hanging up her robe for a new show or something. Like, I mean, I think from like a licensing and like a show perspective, it makes sense, right? But like, like, Judge Judy's Judge Judy, why even bother ending it, right? Like, if you're going to go to another show, just keep doing Judge Judy. or like get more money. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:38:33 You know she's paid a ton of money. Oh yeah, for sure. I think she's like one of the highest paid TV personalities. I think she gets like 50 million a year, some crazy thing like that. I'm pretty sure like Kim Kardashian gets paid way more than that though, right? There's no way she doesn't.
Starting point is 00:38:52 I would say Kim has more outside revenue through like business ventures and like appearances. but in terms of like a TV contract I would say Judge Judy all the way I mean like Kylie's a freaking billionaire so from her makeup so if you think about it that way right
Starting point is 00:39:16 if you're a billionaire would you be on a TV show for anything less than like a billion dollars right it's like this is what I am worth Judge Judy ain't worth a billion dollars you better be paying me that Judge Judy money or you're not going to have a TV show on the E-network
Starting point is 00:39:31 work. Also though, it's somewhat of an infomercial for them because they use it as a brand building thing. So they can like say it's like $10 million a year per sister.
Starting point is 00:39:47 I mean, that's a lot of money still. But because they have the TV show and then they still get press from it, it boosts up their clothing line social posts. Right, right. Because they can probably
Starting point is 00:40:01 charge like a million dollars to post easily like if Kylie if a company went to Kylie and say like I want you to post our new water bottle and like she can easily make a million dollars off that that's how much I paid Dennis to post memes yeah exactly seem that's the much you basically to post about Ventrillo and TeamSpeak on a Wednesday night on Facebook. That posted really well, by the way. Can I talk about it real quick? I messaged you on Slack or on Trello about it this morning. Yeah, I'm actually surprised to see a Trello message about it. I wasn't happy about that. I would prefer a personal message praising me, not in some third-party application that I don't use on my phone.
Starting point is 00:40:53 But it was great. I think it's like probably one of our best, part of our best Facebook polls. ever. I think the biggest one is like, I think, which one was it? The GameSpy one or something? It was like 8K or something. Oh,
Starting point is 00:41:05 yeah. Like not, not to like talk up. Yeah. So what we do is, yeah, GameSpy. So what we do is like,
Starting point is 00:41:14 we'll do a poll of Facebook for Fonzie's, you know, and just asking a fun question. It takes like two seconds, right? And I've been getting more, more boomer about it. So the poll last night was, which was better,
Starting point is 00:41:25 Ventrillo or TeamSpeak, right? And we got five, thousand votes on it. I think we usually average like 2K, maybe, like around there. And I just thought it was funny because I was complaining because Discord was down last night. Oh, that was weird, because I noticed my icons weren't loading. Yeah, no, yeah. It was down for like, maybe like 20, 30 minutes or something. So I was like, man, like, you know, whenever went down Ventrillo, because you paid for a server on the side. It was like $5 for like 20 people, I think. It's really, really cheap to host that server. But, you know, once Discord came out,
Starting point is 00:41:58 And they're like, hey, you can have a server for freezes, then, you know. I personally liked Ventrillo more because that's where I met some of the people in the communities that I still talk to, like, now. But I know that TeamSpeak was like more feature rich. But also TeamSpeak was like way more confusing to use. I never used both. That was easy. Because I was a console gamer until I saw the light. So Xbox Live was my jam.
Starting point is 00:42:28 I think I did one. didn't do one no I didn't I was thinking of doing one was like should we bring back Xfire
Starting point is 00:42:34 I don't know if you remember Xfire Andy it went before your time this it might be before my time Xfire was lit
Starting point is 00:42:42 so Xfire was basically it was a chat program for gamers and you would load up your games right and it would overlay on top of the game
Starting point is 00:42:51 you know kind of like Steam overlay and then Discord does that too yeah it does but I don't know if you can
Starting point is 00:42:58 can you chat with the overlay I turn it off I have too many overlays I have steam overlay and I use cam No lie I should use the cam overlay And then I use it whenever possible Yeah no it's cool
Starting point is 00:43:12 I just wish I you know that the cam team would let me Hook all my games in automatically I'm playing a lot of dead side lately And it's not tracking on my valuable hours I got the game like a week ago And I've already clocked in let me see I already clocked in 12 hours which is actually pretty good time for me, I would say.
Starting point is 00:43:30 That's not, that's like, that's respectable. It's not, like, excessive, but it's not, you know, it's not insignificant. Yeah, for sure. All right. Next question for maybe Andy. Tenth Gen products coming to BLD soon. Soon enough. They're on the site.
Starting point is 00:43:52 I don't know. Are they on the site? Yeah. I thought they weren't on the site. I checked this morning, unless. unless people bought them. Are you... I'll check right now. I think you can get the I-7 and the I-9.
Starting point is 00:44:11 They were up there yesterday. Okay. Oh, yeah, yeah, I remember I was sorry about that. Yeah. I'll build myself on a brand-new Intel computer. You can get the 10-700K and the 10-900K. Oh, that first... I know what that means.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I need a 10-9-hundred. I mean, I really have a really good computer. I don't think I really need it. I have a computer and I don't really need it. I have, I don't really need it. Yeah, like, I've got a 9700K,000, so I don't know if going to like a 10.
Starting point is 00:44:46 You would have to get a new motherboard. Yeah, yeah, but I mean like, yeah, but like going forward, like, I don't know if I'd really like see that much of a jump of performance, to be honest, you know. I mean, GPU is probably going to be where you're, you know. you're at for a bit, like, if you were to upgrade. Andy doesn't even need his computer. He's on his iPad right now. No, I'm not on my iPad. I'm on my Mac mini. Why are you on the Mac? The last, the last, the last, well, the last like two gas, three gas I've all been on the Mac. Why?
Starting point is 00:45:14 So I was just talking to West. We're going to a computer company. I was talking to Wes and he brought up, he goes, you know, like, I have a work computer and a play computer. And I don't let work touch my play computer. And I'm like, that's a good idea so I shifted everything workwise to my Mac Mini so like
Starting point is 00:45:37 just to have that separation because since we're working from home right like it's kind of important to have that you should just do what me and Dennis did and just stop working yeah
Starting point is 00:45:51 we're just like this sucks let's just play video games all day I agree I legit like so what I do is I have in my Chrome two different sign-ins one for my work email that has all those stuff in it and then I have my regular Chrome login which my which is my regular stuff you know it has like my Twitch and my actual Twitter so that way I don't mistake one for the other and accidentally change the name on the corporate account or like that you know we keep it.
Starting point is 00:46:25 separated. Yeah, exactly. I can't even get to my email from that one. Like, I literally have to swap to the other browser login so that I can get to my work stuff. And that helps me separate. The only thing it doesn't is Discord, but I don't really see Discord is work, to be honest.
Starting point is 00:46:41 To me, it's just like a fun thing that I help out with and I can keep maintaining. To me, the Discord isn't really felt like work. It's fun because I always find a way to make it fun. Like, even if I'm moderating, I make it, you know, as goofy as possible. But I get that. I've been kind of wanting to build another computer, too. I'm slowly starting to amass like parts. I mean, that's the same thing that happened to me.
Starting point is 00:47:07 I mean, I have an H1 that's a very capable machine. But it's like a media center PC. Imagine using a case that awesome for a media center. I think it's a perfect media center. PC. I don't know, man. I feel like something that small that you can fit so many
Starting point is 00:47:32 amazing pieces into it, you should literally just like beef it up, you know, and make it like the best you possibly can. I mean, it is pretty... Technically video games are media, so it could be your media center PC. It should.
Starting point is 00:47:51 Thank you so much. It was an answer for everything, dude. You can hook it up to your TV. And like, do games on there. That's what I do. I play couch co-op games with it. It's essentially a console
Starting point is 00:48:05 replacement. Yeah. It's actually not a bad jump to go from like in 9700K to a 10,700K. I'm looking right now on the site. It's only 30 bucks. Go and grab them, folks. Grab those new... Upgrade.
Starting point is 00:48:22 Yeah, get those 10th gen tips. And then maybe I can snag myself whatever 9th Gen 1 for cheap. I don't know if you even do that. I'm assuming you just send them back, like if nobody wants them. They can't tell you want these. Like, nobody wants to buy these. I'm super content with my current specs and my computer's old.
Starting point is 00:48:44 I mean, that's not a bad computer, dude. Like, it's totally fine. It literally runs any game. Yeah. My CPU is like $50. My CPU is not $50. here's here's mine right here this is my stuff
Starting point is 00:49:03 definitely a lot more than what Ivan has but I also play like a lot more games I would say than I even does and I stream on the side too so you know I can need the little bit extra power
Starting point is 00:49:17 yeah that's my justification for getting the beefy CPU um have you guys in any quarantine upgrades anything at all yeah To my stream setup, I got a key light and a go XLR.
Starting point is 00:49:37 How'd you get a GoXLR? That's like really hard to get right now, no? It went on Amazon and got it. Really? And I got a mini, a mini, not a full one. Yeah, I don't want a mini, dude. The mini's fine. I mean, like, I don't need the other stuff.
Starting point is 00:49:54 I honestly don't need the GoXLR. I had some Amazon gift cards. Oh, must be nice. That I got for my birthday a while back. And then I was like, yeah, I want this. And then I got it. I just ordered through slick deals for $103 a 1 terabyte M.D drive. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:50:19 Because I need to replace my, well, I don't need to, but I want to replace my Samsung 840 Evo. It's only 250 gigabytes for two reasons. One, I can't effectively throw anything. thing on there because games are stupidly huge now, like for some reason. I don't know why call it duty has to be like 500 gigabytes. And like literally every freaking week, there's a 30 gig update. So like when someone's like, hey, oh, like do you want to play? And I'm like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:46 And it's like, oh, sorry, I have to wait an hour. Yeah, I'll see you in like 30 minutes. Let me go update. Yeah. I have a two terabyte hard drive that I used to use for Dropbox until I wanted to play Red Dead of Redemption too. I had to wipe the drive just as I could like play that game. I bought a 5 terabyte external drive to put games on.
Starting point is 00:51:12 Like it was only 100 bucks. Wait, 5 terabyte external drive. A WD black. Games on. Okay, okay. And movies. Good enough transfer speed for that. I mean, I don't know if you are supposed to put games into a.
Starting point is 00:51:27 It's called the game drive. is it? I guess if that's what they made it for I'm assuming that's what it's for I mean I hope like one imagine it's actually not
Starting point is 00:51:43 I did have some issues for marketing purposes I know a game drive but you can only put Excel sheets that'd be great I'm going to start loading some games that I really want to play and be able to load quickly onto the SSD
Starting point is 00:52:00 that's what I do Yeah because like Steam's actually really good at that Steam lets you move games from one drive to another pretty pretty pretty quickly like pretty easily So I think I'm gonna like I think I'm gonna like utilize that Feature a bit more Like I'm not really playing anything that's super huge
Starting point is 00:52:20 Like I for sure want to get Call Duty on there for Just because it's so big and it takes so long to load to begin with And that game murders my performance when my computer's loading up like I'll be in Discord and everything's starts glitching out until it finally loads in. The weird. It's just like, it's such a mess. The weird thing about Warzone is every time I play, it, it,
Starting point is 00:52:39 it changes the resolution to 720p. So I play in 1440p. So like every time I go in, I have to change it to 1440p. Right. And yeah, it's just, it's just annoys me. Like, I don't know why. I don't know why.
Starting point is 00:52:59 I don't play enough. of it though to right to like it's just like two seconds it's not that big of a deal I still love war zone but I enjoy war zone when I'm bored so like if I'm in like a discord call with the homies I'm not really working on much
Starting point is 00:53:19 then I'll uh you know I just love some war zone while we talk but I'm not like super super into it right it's not like my favorite game right now but it's you know it's it's it is it is right It is brain dead call of duty. I'll log on. I'll shoot some dudes.
Starting point is 00:53:35 And then I'll, you know, go do something else for a bit. For whatever reason, I'm terrible at BRs, but at war zone, I feel invincible. And to the point where I'm like cocky and just start picking fights with people just to pick fights. And strategically, it doesn't make sense because I feel that I'm better. And I have a higher chance of taking it on. Like in Apex, my friends and I, my friends more. because they kind of, because when I play, like, shooters,
Starting point is 00:54:04 I'm very aggressive. Not good, but I'm very aggressive. So, like, they kind of, yeah. You're not good, but you're very aggressive. Well, like, I told you, like,
Starting point is 00:54:17 I was playing against the CPU, and she had, the pitcher had a, like a 50 pitch, complete game performance against me. Which is nuts. It's like I don't even know this happened before Because I just kept on hitting the ball
Starting point is 00:54:37 Being aggressive in the zone And getting unlucky I phased out for a minute Are we talking about baseball again? No, I just Yeah The same being aggressive Because I don't
Starting point is 00:54:52 I make a lot of contact And I don't I don't strike out I just hit the ball And said the wrong places Got it well then let's see here
Starting point is 00:55:09 we got probably some more questions here for Andy I believe that one's already said what is the inspiration for the creation for NZXT I think Ivan
Starting point is 00:55:21 probably answered that one I'm sure he asked Johnny that question yeah that's an Ivan aside Johnny question it all it all started when Johnny was a kid
Starting point is 00:55:32 you know, he was like 16, 17 years old. And he was a PC gamer. And back then, you know, there wasn't that many, that many companies that were like doing anything different. Like every gaming company just was making computers that look like flying saucers, basically. Or if not that, then it was just like a beige or gray box, right? Like it was like one or the other.
Starting point is 00:56:00 There was no, like, nothing really unique. So that's basically it. You know, he was just 17 and wanted to make something cool that a gamer, gamer would want. No, real, that's the only story. That's like, it's not that exciting, to be honest. It's not like he was walking on the beach than a PC case just like hit him in the face. He just wanted to start a company that he would want, like, to see in the game.
Starting point is 00:56:32 space because there really wasn't, you know, it was it was kind of like a, there wasn't like no, there was really like no gaming industry or hardware industry. It was kind of like every computer that you had to play video games on just was ugly. So he just wanted to change that. And that's why he started in ZXT. And I see Nifty Fish is asking about the name. So the name came about because he envisioned the next generation of of cases. We started as a case company. It was a big Star Wars fan. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:16 And like the name was very long. So he wanted to call it next. And unfortunately, that name is actually taken. Steve Jobs has a copyright on that So then he just Basically changed the E to Z And if you look at our original logo
Starting point is 00:57:40 Like the The Z, it's almost like Like imagine like hitting it with your fist, right? And like that little extra bit That left the letter E to form the letter Z became the dot So What?
Starting point is 00:57:56 Yeah, and then the dot When we remove the dot, when we remove the dot, It became the puck. So the puck is essentially the dot. Yeah. There we go. Questions answered. Gragarius geyser wants to know,
Starting point is 00:58:14 why does Dom never speak? Dom speaks. You just don't hear him. You don't listen good enough. You listen with your eyes and look with your ears if you want to understand Dom and how he speaks.
Starting point is 00:58:29 Alan wants to know, it's probably for Andy. How long would the quarantine need to last before you start having conversations with amoeboes? I would have to get to like Howard Hughes levels of crazy. Like growing out my nails and not cutting my hair and... Right, right. Andy gets illegal haircuts. That's never going to happen. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:55 The quarantine did not affect Andy's haircuts. It hasn't. My hair is incredibly long right now. I don't know what to do with it anymore. I'm pretty sure I'm starting to clog the drain myself. It used to be just my mom and my sister, and I think it's me now. I think I'm the culprit.
Starting point is 00:59:11 I feel pretty bad about that. Yeah, Andy goes to an unlicensed hair cutter. So if someone wants to report it. Hey, keep that on the download, man. But careful, the feds might be listening, dude. It's a very popular podcast. The Federale's.
Starting point is 00:59:28 I don't want them on my tail. Napalm wants to know, can he get a free mustache? Yes, just wait, and it will come. There you go. PSG wants to know, how badly has COVID affected NXT? Well, I haven't answered that one. It's like it's impacting NXT the same way it's impacting a lot of businesses. I think every business was impacted by COVID.
Starting point is 01:00:03 A lot of businesses went out of business even or had to shut down and lay off employees. Like unemployment right now is super crazy. It's like almost 40 million people unemployed. It's like the highest since the depression. Yeah. And with NXT and companies that make computer hardware, like it actually had the negative effect or the reverse effect where our demand just shot through the roof. Like all of a sudden everyone needed a computer to either work from home or go to.
Starting point is 01:00:33 school from home and also to play video games from home you know because you're bored at home you want to play games and have fun right it's a social can't go to the movie theater and you can't do anything so there's a it definitely had an impact with demand like you know more people ordering more parts going out of stock um us being slower with with being able to keep up with a lot of things So, yeah, it's definitely not a good thing for the consumer, I guess, but we are working as fast as we can trying to get everything out there as fast as possible and as good as possible too, you know. Yeah. It's good. You know, I think that's basically it.
Starting point is 01:01:24 It's trying our best. Yeah. I think in any way you can think that any way you can think that any way, you can think of the it's affected the company it probably has, right? From just demand to obviously there's like a shortages with like, you know, components. I keep hearing people talk about how they can't find things for their own personal bills they want to do. Same here from people that I work with. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:44 Like I know, I was watching a JCP's video, just talking about how like, you know, he's like, don't build a computer right now. It's like kind of hard to get parts and like power supplies in particular really, really rough. Yeah, Andy was even saying like he sent. parts out to reviewers and they're telling him, I'm about to review this, but I don't have any parts to build a computer right now. So it's like, it's definitely having a like a positive and negative impact. Like, you know, on the plus side, yeah, people are buying computers on the negative side. It's like really hard to build a computer right now. People are buying computers. So it's just, you know, it is what it is. It sucks for everyone, you know, no one wants to wait around a long
Starting point is 01:02:29 time to get their computer built. We don't want to wait around a long time to build it, but it's really like, there's nothing we can do but wait right now. Just like everyone, we're, we're just waiting out. So coronavirus thing until things get back to normal, hopefully, soon. Pretty much it. Next question is for Andy, what's the funniest response he found while doing PR? Foniest response? Like, I think a lot of it. I think a lot of A lot of people think that PR is actually social media. Like, they think Twitter is PR. So maybe he's thinking like you're the guy tweeting or something.
Starting point is 01:03:17 Because a lot of social media is run like PR. I got them. Sorry, go on. I don't know. I mean, people are pretty straightforward. If I reach out to them and say, hey, we want to work for you. They don't go like, well, that's great, Zinger. Like.
Starting point is 01:03:38 like like responding to all emails like right now is like I want to work with you guys my name is Linus Tech Tips that sounds like a great idea Zinger it's like ha ha it's like you got a weird forehead dude
Starting point is 01:03:51 like like I don't know people are just professional for the most part right um yeah I'll leave it at that okay follow question from Jeff
Starting point is 01:04:07 what's the hardest thing you've ever had to promote power supplies don't say cam really power supplies why it no one beyond PSU guy like like no one it for like a YouTuber they're not going to dedicate a whole video on a power supply because and plus very few people there's like four people in the industry that write about power supplies in like very detailed. Like they like test them with like load testers and like the reviews are like 15 pages long and very technical. And so since their capacity to review, since they're like V people, their capacity to review is very minimal.
Starting point is 01:05:03 And a lot of websites just don't even bother reviewing power supplies. So like, and plus like, like I said, people aren't going to dedicate a video dead to a power supply unless it's like the most craziest thing ever. Like they're just not. So like you have to kind of sneak it into like coverage. If like let's say someone's building something. I'm like, hey, do you want a power supply? Like that's how you get coverage. for it like written websites beyond like the hardcore like it no one cares it it's not they don't care it's
Starting point is 01:05:47 not they don't care it's just like a power supply is one of those things is if it works and doesn't blow up your machine then like cool yeah and if like even if they fail no one's going to be like oh man never buying this power supply again there's be like oh guess it was just a bad one I'm I buy another one because they're 60 bucks right and 90 they never the time they work. I mean, if you buy some like really sketchy ones because there are some sketchy ones out there.
Starting point is 01:06:16 For sure, for sure. Like, yeah, like avoid that. But yeah, it's just no one no one really, it's just not a part that people crave. And you don't see it for the most part.
Starting point is 01:06:32 Yeah, no. Other than the cables, right? And for most of them, they're modular. You can stop those cables out for something else. So, I mean, at that point, who really cares, right? Yeah. I mean, like, in our cases, you don't even see the power supply. I know some cases have like a cut out for the power supply. Yeah. Like, it's just a black box for the most part. All right. Next question is, will the H1 be getting a refresh and or price drop in the near future or far future?
Starting point is 01:07:10 So that's kind of asking everything there. Just stay for refreshes. I mean, that's always like something that we look into with everything that we release, right? Stay tuned. Yeah, stay tuned. You know, we're, you know, same answer we give every time when people ask if we're going to come out with anything. We're always looking into everything. Nothing is off the table, but nothing is ever guaranteed.
Starting point is 01:07:35 Just stay tuned. Also on the price drop, we just released it, dude. Like, what do you want? I'll be real for a second. Do you think it just came out? I mean, if it goes on sale somewhere. Yeah, yeah. Like, you got to, if that's what you're looking for, stay tuned.
Starting point is 01:07:57 Yeah. And we're always working on not just new products, but also improving existing products. When that's going to happen, I have no idea. Stay tuned. But yeah, it's like, and even if we were releasing an H1 refresh tomorrow, we couldn't tell you. So it's like there's no real answer to that question other than that, yeah, we're working on refreshing every single thing we have. And we're also working on making all the things we don't have. But we just can't tell you when that is because we're always doing it.
Starting point is 01:08:33 This is just a podcast and it's not a place for announcements, right? Unless one day Johnny's like. like, all right, we're going to announce something big. And you can do it on the podcast. I think that's when we know that we've made it, right? That'll be like the litmus test for that. That would be cool. PSG wants to know how has COVID affected our cute poochie?
Starting point is 01:08:55 Social distancing and wearing masks. Yeah. I don't touch them anymore. In terms of like shipping Pucci out, surprisingly where we ship the insulin, X-T club rewards. It hasn't been impacted at all. Like in terms of like how fast we ship stuff out of our warehouse. But it also doesn't mean it hasn't been impacted in terms of like the post office. Like I have no idea how the post office is doing or how the post office in your
Starting point is 01:09:33 country is doing if you live outside of the U.S. I just know here in in LA where we ship all the poochies out from, business as usual, basically. He's also been a little absent from social. Sorry, he's busy with gamers at home. Make sure you submit your thumbs-ups. That's the thing for today. How do you expect COVID to affect production
Starting point is 01:10:01 for parts of feature NZC products? I mean... It actually impacted us way back in... Like November. right? Like, it started, yeah, like, January. It started at, like, in January, like, January and February is when COVID was really hitting hard in China. And a lot of the factories over there had to shut down.
Starting point is 01:10:26 So not just us, but, like, basically any hardware manufacturer. Because I know even Apple is expecting some noise. And ZXT, any Nintendo. Yeah, any electronics company, basically. like just had to like shut down business for like a month. And then in February, things started opening up little by little. And then by March, by the time COVID hit the United States where we are, and like we were, you know, starting to work from home and all that stay at home stuff started happening.
Starting point is 01:11:01 Like our factories started opening up. So like we already went through that phase. What's being impacted now, though, is the business, do here in the States, which is, you know, building computers, selling computer parts, things like that. That's where it's impacted now. It's not so much the manufacturing of it. But I have no idea how any of that will change. You know, I'm not a, I'm not like a logistics expert or anything like that. Megmanman wants to know. What's y'all's favorite sport? Well, if you listen to the podcast, you'll know that it's clear we're big fans of weird versions of pool.
Starting point is 01:11:44 Evan, what's your favorite sport? To play or to watch? I was hoping you'd have a good joke answer ready, but sure, yeah, both. To play, it's baseball because I'm super lazy, and when I was a kid, all my cousins played soccer, and they used to make fun of me because I just couldn't run. I hate running. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 01:12:08 And baseball is the only game I could find where I could just like, I could chew sunflower seeds and chew, like, you know, just hang out in the outfield and wait for a ball to come to me. So baseball definitely to play. To watch, it would be American football. Really? Why is that? It's just really exciting. And also, I love the strategy behind American football. Like, it's really like a game of chess.
Starting point is 01:12:36 you know like there's like so many different play like every play is different um it's all about like outsmarting your opponent as well as outmuscling them you know it's like a really like tough yeah it's it's really fun to watch and then i think unlike baseball which does have exciting moments um and baseball they're very rare like you're watching a baseball game it could be there's one exciting moment in a in a three-hour baseball game because there's no there's no clock in baseball, right? And football is the opposite. Everything is, it is timed. You know, there's a clock and like every play is exciting. So that's why I like watching American football. All right. I don't watch any sports to be honest. But if I did have to watch something,
Starting point is 01:13:27 I'll watch soccer, I find it to be exciting because the game's always moving, right? Like the, like the game never stops. Even like if someone's down on the ground rolling around like an idiot, right they're not stopping the clock they just add on like an extra two three minutes to the end of the match that's always there's so many like that always that aspect of like it I mean
Starting point is 01:13:48 it's all the same I guess but it's like maybe like it's just stop the clock I don't think so that's why I don't like watching soccer is because they have a clock and they don't use it right and then at the end it's basically the referee it's up to him to say
Starting point is 01:14:05 all right um I guess there's like about 10 minutes or so that we should add on to the clock. And I feel like that's part of the reason why there's so much corruption in soccer. Like they just busted like all the, I don't know, like hundreds of referees a couple years ago. Like it's really, it's really a very corrupt. Yeah. Soccer in general is shady for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:30 Also soccer is just like, it's really boring just because even though they're running up and down the whole game, like, like the score is very like low it's like one nothing two zero you know it's just like there's not enough scoring for me that's why i that's so that's actually so you touch on two things on why i think soccer is superior is because one they don't treat the clock against like some some fake imaginary thing time is time it's always going whether someone's playing or not you have a game like basketball where the last quarter of a game is literally like an hour long because they're constantly stopping the clock for every single little thing that you do that.
Starting point is 01:15:10 Which at that point, why you'd rather have it a clock. That's what I hate about basketball. It's just like the last 10 minutes, last an hour, basically. And then in baseball, what's the point? There's no clock, right? It's just based on the innings, right? And whoever finishes after like a ninth inning. So like, even then, like, what's, like, that's the problem.
Starting point is 01:15:31 I have a baseball is that I have no idea how long I'm forced to sit down into this game. And, like, there's been so many games I've gone to where people just leave at, like the seventh or eighth inning like ah forget this you know it's because of track if it's at dodger stadium it's because of traffic like that it's just in general you know like like this is in general people just we just up and leave which the me is always weird which is why i like soccer because even though the scoring is low it takes two seconds for that for that for that for that score to change in one way the other right like somebody can can miss like the pass and then that's it like it's it's it's um the the tension is like almost through the entire game right it's
Starting point is 01:16:09 always going because at any minute someone could hit a really good pass and the next and then next thing you know he's you know up on the field and he's about the you know score score a good one right so to me that's why I prefer if I were to watch any sport if I had to choose one I can only watch the rest of my life it will be soccer one thing about baseball it's it's very peak in valley like like some of the greatest moments of my life were watching baseball because I was at a game in Dodger Stadium during the playoffs where Justin Turner had a walkoff home run like just being in the environment like Dodger Stadium is the best park in baseball like there's no in terms of environment it has issues yeah like traffic and and that that yeah you're right you're
Starting point is 01:17:04 100% right I'm not going to take that away from you I'll concede that. But I've been to a bunch of ballparks, but the environment at Dodger Stadium is by far the best. Because people are into it. I mean, I like it. I think it's a very pretty park.
Starting point is 01:17:20 It's just a very simple park. Like in Houston, they got rid of this, though. They had a freaking, like, I called it the grassy knoll. I think people co-locally called it the grassy knoll. It was like a hill built in
Starting point is 01:17:35 the actual. playing field like the center fielder could run up the hill it was just like why it's stupid like it's so dumb
Starting point is 01:17:45 but um they got rid of it though but um but dodger stadium is symmetrical like you see a nice view of the mountains and you know LA weather
Starting point is 01:17:56 you can see downtown from the behind the park are you closer to Angel Stadium or Dodger Stadium Andy oh I know where you're going with this. Angel Stadium.
Starting point is 01:18:10 Okay. And would you agree that David Bar isn't really part of L.A.? Let's just be real. It's in L.A. County. But as far as from Los Angeles proper as you possibly can
Starting point is 01:18:20 without even, you know, without basically calling it like not Orange County or not Los Angeles. Like I don't know why Diamond Bar exists in that county.
Starting point is 01:18:29 It makes zero sense to me. It's, I don't. I don't. I don't, I don't call yourself a real Angelino I'm not an Angelino, but I'm part of LA County.
Starting point is 01:18:39 Like, when I vote, I vote for L.A. County issues. The angels are up to suburbs. There you go. That's it right there. Racking in the chat. Former moderator record. That's like the dumbest name ever for a city, Diamond Bar. Do you want to know why it's called like that?
Starting point is 01:18:59 They told us this in elementary school. Yes, I do. It was a lore. Because, you know, Chino Hills and Diamond Bar have a lot of paddle. So Diamond Bar was a ranch back in the day. And the brand for Diamond Bar was a diamond with a bar below it. And that's why they called the city that was a riveting story. Oh, shoot. I think you just found an ex-employee, Ivan. Then you find another foo for Anahe. Cool. Like, I've always wanted to have something that I can like,
Starting point is 01:19:38 leave in like that that just becomes the name of like a city or like a place but I think that I think that time's going to pass now you know I think that's it unless we start like a new civilization somewhere and they can get on the ground floor and the next thing you know you know I'm like oh hey this is you know this is Dennisland or something like that you know denland new denland pretty cool I mean every I think every um every like land mass on earth has been discovered. So it's like there's no point.
Starting point is 01:20:11 Like that can never happen really. How can you assume that every landmass has been discovered? Because we've mapped Earth with satellites. No, I guess it like, I know like in Alaska, like once in like Canada, once like the ice melts, like people are going to reclaim that land. Yeah, I feel like there's all sorts of stuff underneath the ocean that, like,
Starting point is 01:20:43 Atlantis. There's probably cities underneath the water that we can't see. I don't think that the earth has always been exactly how it is right now. Well, get your submarine and James Cameron and find Atlantis. All right. Next one is, what was the idea for the creation of Pucci? I think we touched this on several podcasts. So my answer to that is
Starting point is 01:21:12 listen to our previous 42 episodes to find the answer. When you find it, let me know which episode it's in so I can write it down and then forget about it again. Magmon Man wants to know, what's the weirdest announcement you've had to make? Like when a server?
Starting point is 01:21:28 Yeah, what's announcement? I mean, it's just products. It's not really weird. It's not like NZXT announced today, announces that we discovered alien life forms. Yeah. Like, you know, it's like, it's very straightforward.
Starting point is 01:21:52 Oh, yeah, stop leaking. I'm sorry. Yeah, I don't think we really make any off-color weird announcements, right? Like, we just announced stuff that needs to be announced. Like, we have a new product coming out or on the server, hey, we change the rules a little bit or, you know, we have a community event coming up. Like, I don't know what the, I don't know what the, what would be a weird announcement that we would have had to have made.
Starting point is 01:22:22 Probably that we have Andy on the podcast for the third time. You're desperate for material. You know, Andy, you can talk down to yourself all you want, Andy, but I think you're a perfectly great guest. Well, thank you. welcome all right next one is
Starting point is 01:22:42 what minor character from a game deserves their own spinoff and what genre would it be from a game yeah minor character
Starting point is 01:22:51 from a game Alan back at it again oh wait hold up I missed a question I just didn't scroll that far enough B wants to know who is your favorite co-worker and why is it me
Starting point is 01:23:01 wow you put me on the spot I mean B's awesome I got to meet her at Pax in the before times and I enjoy talking to be. She's awesome and I'm glad she's a part of the team. There we go. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.
Starting point is 01:23:17 Okay, my new character from a game. I don't really know. I think the Blue Ghost from Pac-Man deserves its own show. Blinky? Sure. Is that the name? That is a name. From a video game?
Starting point is 01:23:37 Tingle. No, Tingle already has some games. You does have a game, yeah. Waluigi. Waluigi has a lot of games. Not his own. He has Waluji games. Yes, he does. He has Waluigi games. Mm-mm. He's never had... He does. No. He's never had... Yes. He's... Andy.
Starting point is 01:23:57 He's never had a standalone game. Andy. Yes, he does. It's Mario Tennis. That's his game. Oh, there it is. And he's a garbage character, dude. Andy knows nothing about Nintendo, and he has, like, every amoebo known to Man. I know so much about Nintendo. Remember Trivia HQ?
Starting point is 01:24:19 They had a Nintendo night, and it's the only thing I ever won on trivia HQ. But I'm real, though. All these Wao characters that Nintendo keeps coming up with are useless, and they should just go away. I don't know why they exist. I don't know what the point of it is. There's only two. I understand Wario. Waluigi.
Starting point is 01:24:37 they just needed a do you know the story about waluigi no like his name isn't as stupid as you think it is okay hit me with it eddie so
Starting point is 01:24:50 that nintendo lore waru in Japanese I believe is bad then there's no distinction between the L and R sound so Waruigi so bad Luigi so there
Starting point is 01:25:03 like there it is okay Thank you, Andy. I don't have an answer, to be honest. Can I say a TV show? Sure. Go for it. I love Bob's Burgers to death.
Starting point is 01:25:21 And there's this character named Regular Size Rudy. Every time I see Regular Size Rudy, my heart just melts. Like, I love Regular Size Rudy to death. Oh, that could, yeah, yeah. Like, every time he's on, it's fire. Like, I, if, I mean, that's my answer. Regular-sized Rudy. Make a regular-sized Rudy TV show.
Starting point is 01:25:48 Why do you like Bob's Burger so much? It's just a great show. The thing is, it's like, in, like, a lot of dysfunctional family, cartoons like The Simpsons. Like, there are moments of, like, yes, they love each other, but they all kind of like just, it's not really realistic in some ways. But, like, Bob's is semi-realistic. And also one thing that I do like is everyone in the family is freaking crazy. But they know that and they respect that and encourage everyone to be crazy in some sense.
Starting point is 01:26:34 Like, they just allow them to be who they are and they love them for who they are. Do you dress up as Tina every year? Not every year, but every time I can. You should. You should dress up as Tina during one of our meetings with your cam on. I think that would be really great for morale during these rough times. You should do it. I mean, I've done it so much.
Starting point is 01:27:03 I got retweeted by the Bob's Berger's account because I was in my Tina cosplay at Comic Con. going to the panel. All right. Zdubs also asked, do you think N6T would be expanding into other products like mice, keyboards, and more obscure things?
Starting point is 01:27:24 So first and foremost, we addressed this like 20 minutes ago, right? And I think every episode, right? We're looking at everything. Nothing is off the table. Stay tuned for, because what is it?
Starting point is 01:27:38 The Avent always says, right? Our plan is always to take over the world or always has been to take over the world. And we've already made a NZXT mouse and keyboard. Typing on an NZXT keyboard right now. Also, I don't know if I would consider mice and keyboards to be obscure. I think you kind of need them, right? I think it's like, I don't know how it would play games with the mouse without a mouse and keyboard.
Starting point is 01:28:09 So maybe you need to. And he's a type of dude that uses a controller on his PC. just like she's navigating Discord How do you know that? His macro set up, right? Here we go. If the NXT company was a movie, who would be the main protagonist?
Starting point is 01:28:28 Who would be the hero of the NXXXY story? Obviously Johnny, right? I mean, it's his company. Yeah, I mean, he's the guy that started it all. I think I like the answer that Rack can put in. that it would be an A ensemble cast. I think that makes more sense, right?
Starting point is 01:28:50 I think that there's too many good personalities within the company to, like, miss out on that we don't want to focus on just one person, right? Or maybe it could be like, it could be Johnny at the head and he's dealing with all these people, right? He's survival of the people that he has to work with every day. There would be, like, a group of characters.
Starting point is 01:29:11 Like, it would be definitely Johnny, shin melody hose 11 like hairy it'd be like a heist it'd definitely be like a group of
Starting point is 01:29:24 a group of characters for sure the event just crossed the room with like tiny compared to NZXT Jeff oh Jeff I think I called Jeff Ivan Light the other day I forget to who though because he's definitely
Starting point is 01:29:42 definitely a memeer, but he's not, he's not, he's not the level of Savage that, like, Ivan can get to. Yeah. And if you're like... Jeff just tries you hard. Yeah. Yeah. And he'll do it at any means necessary, like hacking Mario Kart. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:58 Yeah. And, like... Yeah, he's... Dude, he wants to be, like, being so bad. He even had a kid. How pathetic is that? It's like, come on, bro. That's pretty, uh, that.
Starting point is 01:30:14 I remember when I first started working at ZXT, the old office, and I went to Ivan's desk because he was teaching me stuff. There's a picture of a guy with his eyes crossed out. And I'm like, man, Ivan was not really like this guy. He seems like a really cool dude. But I don't know why he isn't like this guy in particular. He must have done something to piss him off. And for the first week and a half, I didn't know if you actually liked Jeff or not. I had no idea.
Starting point is 01:30:42 I couldn't tell. I love the guy. I love him because he's Ivan Light. He's definitely, he's a meamer for sure. Ivan? Yeah, you're like, and I can mess around with him, and he messed with me, and I love it. Speaking of the devil, Ivan Light is asking to get unmuted. Should we unmute him so you can speak?
Starting point is 01:31:06 We could, but it won't be recorded. Oh, what? Yeah, so, yeah, because we're not recording through here, recording to Zen. So I'd give him the link for that too. I'm going through that effort. Also, I might break it. I want to break the recording again. I'm not recording another 45-minute solo episode.
Starting point is 01:31:21 We're answering a bunch of questions. Let's just continue to talk behind us back then. Okay. Yeah, so, like I said, like, I legit cannot tell for the first month whether you liked him or not, because you always talk so much smack. And I'm like, man, who is his Jeff guy? And why does I even hate him so much? Why is there a picture of him on his desk with his eyes crossed out?
Starting point is 01:31:41 Like, I don't understand what's going on here. Like this, this dynamic makes zero sense. I just like messing with that, man. All right. Let's see. We got to start cutting off soon, guys. So let's get one more question. I'm going to pick the best one from what I see here.
Starting point is 01:32:05 And then we'll let you guys all go. A lot of things we get to today. Let's see here. will Pucci ever have a Pucci V2? Pucci Part 2 That'd be awesome I would love that I'd love to have a Pucci part two
Starting point is 01:32:22 Um Gieser wants to know Why does Denzi Xxee refuse to accept my origin friend request Who uses me? Well, if you're playing If you're an apex I just wanted to slam me Slam. Slam. I hate origin.
Starting point is 01:32:39 Yeah. Yeah. I already I already explained this to him, but he doesn't listen, apparently, which is another reason why I'm not going to add him an origin. Reason number one, you don't threaten me with whatever he was going to threaten me with, I would deny your request. Two, if you don't listen to why I denied your request the first time,
Starting point is 01:32:58 then I definitely don't want you on my friend's list because I don't want you to, I don't play with someone who's not going to listen to me. When I tell them, there's a guy over there shooting at you, that's number two. Number three, I'm lazy. And here's a, this one should be pretty quick. What is the easiest thing to get people to review, Andy? The H1, because it's great.
Starting point is 01:33:24 Bam, easy, peasy. All right. Awesome. That wraps it up for baseball cast. Real quick, we got community roundup. Do you want to do this one, Ivan? Or do you want me to have it? Okay, cool.
Starting point is 01:33:38 So number one, congratulations to the gaming geyser for, winning setup of the week. And I'm going to say geyser. I don't know if it's Geyser, but it looks like Geyser to me, but it's not how you spell geyser. So that's, you know, make sure you take some grammar classes. Number two, congratulations to Keo again for winning wallpaper of the week. He keeps on winning.
Starting point is 01:33:57 Whether you're a mod or not, you're still a member of the community and you can still win. So that's awesome. We have a newsletter subscription page. So we have a weekly newsletter that goes through all the stuff that we do on the community side. all of our giveaways, the contests we have, things of that nature. Cool, cool things that we highlight. Sign up for it, please. So you never miss a email from the NZXT community, aka the Pucci Press.
Starting point is 01:34:27 Also, we have an H-1 giveaway in partnership with SeaGate, so definitely check that out. They're good folks at SeaGate. Yeah, they're the cool, the cool peeps. Now, worked with them there. A lot. make sure you retweet and enter that's very important
Starting point is 01:34:43 if you don't retweet it doesn't count and last thing I don't know if we talked about this I know we just did it but excuse me we have voice chats that pop up every now and then
Starting point is 01:34:56 I don't know if you guys noticed so the way they were doing the voice chats is we don't have a set schedule for the voice chats and we know there's been an issue with moderation in the voice chats in the past which is why they're not open 100% of the time so you have a special voice chat
Starting point is 01:35:09 team and whenever they have time to do it, they will open up a voice chat. They would chill with the community and chat along with you and they might even stream some of the gameplay. Yeah. So, you know, that's the nice little workaround that we have going with that. You know, one of the reasons why we can't have it open all the time is because we do have a pretty strict rule set here in the server to keep things fun and friendly, right? But sometimes people kind of don't translate that into voice so they get a little too spicy so this is the this is the solution right now if you guys have any other solutions feel free to hit up one of the moderation team and you know they'll you know they'll pass it along to the admin team well first first I'll pass it to
Starting point is 01:35:53 the lead moderator and she'll decide whether she likes or not and then she'll pass it on to the admin team and then we just go okay cool whatever it's like thanks for doing all the work for us and that's how it works folks. That's how the sausage is made. It's very glamour. Isn't it? It is. It is. Right. It's an interesting process. Andy, do you have any closing last words before we end this? Can you say that again? My headset cut out. Do you have any last words? Just keep on keeping on, wash your hands, put on mass, socially distance, and we'll get through this. Ivan, any parting words? just wanted to thank everyone for listening and I hope everyone is staying safe and just be careful
Starting point is 01:36:41 out there. It's a crazy, crazy time. Oh, and also, too, thanks for being patient with us while we work through the COVID stuff. It's obvious that, you know, we have a lot of people who have computers and, you know, they've been in their Discord so we can't ignore them and, like, not act like they don't exist, right? Sure we can. And we're working on it, you know? contact support. They'll do their best to take care of you. Let us know that there's anything else we can do. And other than that, stay safe.
