everyone, welcome to episode 51 of the N60 Clubcast, the official podcast of the N60 community.
This podcast is recorded sometimes live every Thursday, 10 a.m. Pacific Center time on the official N6T
Discord server, Discord.j.g. slash NZXT. And you can find us not live online on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and SoundCloud.
This is a pre-recorded segment that will lead into a non-pre-recorded segment because I screwed up the beginning of the
recording as you will hear i've been giving me kind of about that as he tends to do so with that
thanks and uh enjoy the rest of the show you sound um what do you say uh fine on zencaster but you don't
sound good on discord so rip anyone who's listening live yeah um also i realize i totally screwed up
that intro because my microphone was muted so i'm not to go in and do it on my own let's go
Love it.
One day you'll get it right.
One day, yeah.
One day we record this podcast without any scripts.
Who knows when that'll be.
But let's moving along here.
We have a special guest today.
I'll say probably one of the specialist guests we probably have ever had.
Today's special guest is Stephen from the R&A team.
Hi, Stephen.
Hello there.
How you doing today?
I'm okay.
I don't know if I would call myself the special.
specialist guest, but you know, any compliment, I'll take it.
How would you, if you were to like kind of categorize how special you are, say at level
one to ten, how would you be?
Maybe a seven.
I don't know.
I'm not that important.
I mean, I would say what you do is pretty important work, though, right?
You kind of help make sure that computers get fixed.
That is true.
I do fix computers.
All right, great to know.
Stephen, what is your official title at NZXT?
What's in your business cards?
I am RMA technician, tech two.
Okay, so I got all the questions about that.
What does tech two mean?
It means I can do all the things in RMA, mostly.
So if you're a tech one, you can't do all the things.
Tech one is RMA in training,
Tech 2 is RMA out of training
Oh, how long is training take?
Undisclosed amount, it varies
Uh-huh
I don't know how long it took other people
But Calvin, who got hired on with me into RMA
We both got out of it at the same time
About four months in
Has there has ever been someone who like came in
And like within the first like day
they were just like out of
out of Tech 1 there's like that good
they know every single thing
or does that person that exist yet
I would like to meet that person
if you could
what would you tell them
are they a spy
because how do they know
all of these things
that's the only explanation right
is so there is spy
what does your
what does the daily routine
of a RM8 Tech 2 look like
Well, lately we've actually changed up the process to kind of make it more efficient, I'd say.
It used to be that we would receive repair and like QC all of our own stuff.
We still do most of that, but now we have two shifts.
So a morning shift is mostly in charge of receiving everything and like responding to requests.
and second shift is more repairs QC
and like doing the more technical stuff
with like actual computers
Okay
And so I'm on the second shift
So I'm the more repair person
Rather than like respond to customer service and stuff
And like intakes and things like that
Yeah
I still can do all of that stuff of course
But you know I don't have to know
So I have no problem with less paperwork.
And your opinion, which is the best shift, first or second shift?
I like my shift.
I like computers.
How long have you been in ZXT?
Since November.
So however long that is.
November of last year?
Yeah.
So I went in right before Black Friday.
Ooh, how was that first Black Friday working RMA?
Actually, I hired in to BLD.
Oh, okay.
I actually did builds for three months.
So I was building from November to January.
I think like January is right when I got hired on, like around the 15th.
So do people get hired on?
like straight from RMA or do they usually work up from building into RMA?
We like to hire internally.
So it's mostly people that do build, just because, you know, you already know most of the, like,
wherever things are at.
Right, right.
But we have hired outside of RMA, but that was before me.
Okay, okay, good to know.
What did you do before you worked at NVXC?
I did a couple things
right before in ZXT
I worked at a mechanic shop
sorry I worked on cars
that was actually pretty cool
it's one of those like
it's a hobby of mine thing but I don't know
if I like working in other people's cars
I like working on my own though
and then
before that I worked at an Apple repair shop
okay so you've been kind of
working like repair and like
and like fixing stuff for for a while then, right?
Yeah.
Do you know like the first thing you ever face it?
Sorry, would you consider yourself a genius?
No, I would not.
You worked at the genius bar though.
I actually worked in the back.
I was the guys in the back doing the repairs.
Yeah.
Geniuses in front,
don't people in the back now.
Yeah.
You know,
the people you don't want the customers to see.
That was me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think that's why I think that's why I've increased my face off of social media for that same reason.
That's one reason.
Yeah.
I'm one of the dumb ones.
So how'd you get hired in ZXT?
So you went from working at Apple doing repairs and,
repairing cars and then you kind of made the jump to computers.
How'd you do that?
Well, doing the whole car thing, I realize that, you know, I do like working on computers
a whole lot more.
It's not more so that it's challenging.
They're both equally challenging.
Like, you both have to know a lot to do both of them.
I just, you know, I wanted to keep that hobby as a hobby and less of a job.
Right.
So I kind of just put out the fish hook and waited for some bites and I got a call from you guys, which was great.
You know, don't regret that.
I hope not. You're here.
Yeah, I'm here.
And, you know, I came in and I was interviewed.
And I think the most notable thing about my interview is that the guy that interviewed me came in, looked at my resume,
looked at me and he was like,
so you worked out of Starbucks?
And I was like, yeah.
And that was pretty much the only real question he had for me
other than like, oh, you know computer things.
I was like, you know computers and you drink coffee.
That's great.
Yeah, you fit right in.
That's like great.
Can you name who that was?
because I really want to get more info on that.
That was David.
He actually doesn't work there as of like two weeks ago.
Maybe it's because he was asking too many people about Starbucks.
Yeah.
Too many unqualified people like myself.
It's waiting people slip into the cracks, right?
Yeah.
When you, so did you, so since you were here,
since November, I believe that was after the, actually made the move to the new office, right?
You never took a trip to the old office?
Yeah, I never saw it.
I had been there as like a customer, but not an employee.
I just like, I had a broken queue and I was like, hey, you guys are down the street.
Can I just replace it?
Do you remember who answered the door when you showed up?
No idea.
It was a while ago.
It's funny.
Like back in the old office, there was a lot of time.
where like just people would be driving down the street.
And we used to have like this giant sign in the front, just NZXT, right?
And like people would be driving by and they would recognize the sign and they would just, you know, come up and knock.
And every once in a while, like Johnny would answer the door.
And it was always making me laugh.
They were like, they would knock and then Johnny would answer the door.
And they would say, hey, is this NZT?
And Johnny would just be like, yeah, come on.
A lot of people, a lot of people used to.
walk in like that to the old
awesome yeah
just because you know like you said like oh I live
down the street can I just go in and
because we had that giant sign out there
it was basically like you know
at least at least
I would say three people a month would just
randomly show up
on our doorstep there
we had a guy
show up at our doorstep like last month
with a cracking in hand and he was like
hey I need help with this
yeah it still happened at our new office
because now I think people just Google NZT and they see,
oh, they have office hours because that's the Google business list
or hours of customer service.
Well, that's the thing.
He didn't show up during hours of customer service.
He showed up until the night.
That's really creepy, dude.
Yeah, we just kind of looked at each other and we were like,
uh, what do?
I hope you kicked him out.
We didn't kick him out.
We were just like, hey, like, can you call customer service?
we can't help you.
Yeah.
Get out of here.
Yeah.
I'm trying to kind of
rot my brain around that.
If it was someone coming in like during like normal hours,
I think it'll be kind of, it'll kind of make more sense, right?
Like middle of the night and Jesus has like a random cracking,
I'd be afraid of someone like trying to like strangle me with like the tubes or something,
right?
The crack and strangler or something like that.
Ooh, that's a good title.
you should write that book
I should
That's a yeah
Zephyr really
What's your favorite thing about working in RMA
Well
I really like the people
We somehow
Managed to get like the nerdiest people
In the whole warehouse and shove them into one place
And that's RMA
Sometimes you'll be walking past
just see us doing like random like dancing for no reason and like I've noticed like people seeing
us doing that and they're just kind of like they're walking fast and then they kind of slow down
and stare and then walk away yeah I think I'm one of those people I think that last time I was in
the where I was in the office I was maybe like in the main office for like five minutes and like all right
I got to check out the warehouse like I haven't been in forever and there's been a lot of changes
I want to see what it looks like.
And I feel like things haven't really changed too much, right?
It's like, it's definitely a lot busier.
It's, there's a lot more people there.
But it's like, it's the same stuff, right?
It's like you have random people yelling things out,
and then you have someone watching anime,
someone's watching K-pop on like another screen,
well, can be like tested or something.
I also have like this really weird thing where I think when,
I haven't gone back there today,
but I think it's usually when it's cold,
they built like this wall of like cardboard to like prevent wind from
because we're right next to the loading docks
so when it's cold we just get a big breeze
and so we put that wall there to get rid of the wind chill
and then there's like a giant um
Pikachu head hanging on the wall like a
like one of those like deer with antlers type of things
to me it looks like a Pikachu
mixed with a weeping bell. It's really weird because it just has like a big mouth. Give a picture of it?
Not on me, but I can send you one. Yeah, no, if you could, that'd be that should be really great.
Yeah, I'll take one in a bit. Yeah, no, for sure. Okay, what's your, what's your least favorite thing about working in Arme?
honestly sometimes I just get computers that are all destroyed and mingled
because they were just kind of put into like a like a random box that a customer had and like sent it to us
I have a few pictures I could give you if you want to like post them or something but like the
GPU is just bent and the PCIE slot is like yanked off and the cooler is just somewhere in the case
and it's usually a mess.
Like those computers just break my heart.
What's, um, is there going?
I was going to say we had a computer that had the Instapack tear a hole and it, the, like, the foam came out and glued itself to, uh, 2070 and like a Tomahawk motherboard.
What's the fix for that? Is it just like a complete replacement or like, what do you do with that?
Yeah, we got to replace everything because you can't really get that stuff off cleanly.
And so we just, honestly, the GPU ended up in a scrap pile, which was, yeah, we were just like, we can't do anything with this.
And just like, yeah, we can't just pull the cooler off and put it on another one and send it to a customer.
Like, that's, that's not right.
Right.
What's, um, since we're kind of on topic, what's,
like the hardest
RMA that you've ever had to do?
Like, just one that was really tricky
that you just couldn't figure out.
The tricky ones are usually
like B-Sod
or crashing computers.
And they're tricky
because if a
customer wipes their computer,
which they normally do
and send it to us, does not really
any way, any
you know,
traces for us to retrace.
we got to start at ground zero and try and make it crash so we're basically trying to break a computer
because we can't figure out what like what's going on not not all bsods like are like hey look at me
i'm i'm crashing yeah no um i think that like software is probably one of the most annoying
stuff to fix right um like you remember i remember when i was like younger and i was like trying to fix
my computer is now I would get like a blue screen I would never like know exactly what the problem was so I would just
basically take the whole thing apart and plug everything back in and like the time that usually work which to me
probably means it was like the memory right but when you're like young you don't really know anything
especially back in the day looking for like tech help was not as easy as it is now because I can literally
just look up like a YouTube video right yeah and someone just tells me what the problem is
what's what's really funny is the whole method of turning it off and on again works wonderfully like I
I apply that to hardware.
What I mean by that is I kind of take everything apart and then put it back together again,
and it just fits itself.
Really?
Yeah.
Sometimes those connections just need a little reconnection.
Just need a little bit of TLC, right?
Yeah, yeah.
What is your favorite N60 product?
That's a good question.
thinks they try
well I actually have quite a bit of NZT products
I think currently it's the H1
but I'm
I just
I like tinkering with those the most
usually when those come in I just go right up
and like steal them
and I don't think anyone else really gets a chance
to work on them just because I just take them
I just go up and any H1 that shows up, I'm like, this is mine now.
Yeah, like anything ITX that we have to repair, everyone just knows don't touch it because I'm going to take it.
And is that because you're like really good at them or just because you like them?
I just like them.
They're harder to work on just because they're time-consuming.
to cable manage.
And sometimes I'll get them
and the cables inside of them
are just like a giant spaghetti monster.
And I would like take a picture of before
and then I'll pull everything out
and put it back in,
take a picture of after and like it's just night and day.
And it's something I take pride in, I guess,
is like just fixing the cable management
sometimes.
If we could make a cable management,
product where it's just like, oh, fix it yourself.
That would be my favorite product.
What would that look like?
We just put a bunch of wires into a box and shake it.
Hopefully someone can come up with that.
Yeah.
That's some like big brain level stuff.
What's your least favorite N60 product?
I think for a little while there,
it was the eye devices.
Really?
Well, not because they're bad,
but because sometimes they break.
And when they break,
there's like five or six wires
all plugged into it.
And in order to take them out of the case,
you've got to completely undo all the wiring.
You can't just unplug it and plug in a new one.
There's like wires attached to it.
So you got to like fish that out of there.
yeah I was helping
I was helping the roommate
doing to do some
some cable combs yesterday
some of the RGB cable combs
and those are
kind of a pain of the butt
I am
I was gonna say I was going to install
some of those into my system
but the cable gauge
on my like my extensions are too thick
and so I was like sitting there
trying to put each individual
wire through it
and it just got so hard
I gave up I just
yanked it out of there
I think
before my 510 elite
I've never had messed with any kind of
RGB right because I had an
840 and
when I got my 510 I look at these
like RGB cables and like the ins and outs
and I just completely like my brain turns off
and I'm like I have no idea how this works
I don't want to do this anymore
I literally had customer service do it for me.
And it is one of those things
where like it's so much effort
and almost kind of like pain
the matter like what manufacturer brand you go with
to get RGB because it's like it's not necessary.
So I kind of feel like sometimes
there's a little bit less care taken into
into making it easy right?
Because that's something that like people need
and like are always messing with.
But it's like if you really want this to get a fight for it, right?
Yeah.
All right.
second last question for me is what would you like to see n16 make any product whatsoever i think you were to kind of said uh the the cable management like magic box right yeah um there's actually a different one i really want us to turn the like the pump for the z 63 into just a water block really yeah i want to be i want it to have just gene and quarter fittings on it and that lcd
way and just able to put it into a custom loop.
If we did that, like, RMA tickets would be like quadrupled overnight.
That's true.
And I think there's only two of us right now that do water cooling stuff.
So it would just, the two of us would just be busy all the time.
Yeah.
I feel like, I feel like I would never want to work on someone else's.
like custom loop, right?
Because I feel like it'd be such a painful thing to be working on every single day,
considering there's so many things that can go wrong with a water loop.
Not only you just go wrong, but all the maintenance involved, right?
Like, if we were to sell custom water loops,
we would have to then trust that the person who's buying this crazy, like,
water-cooled PC knows how to, like, maintain it, right?
Which means you have to, like, swap fluids,
check the temps on it regularly, all that stuff.
And not a lot of people know how to do that.
Yeah, especially like we're not going to want to ship it with water in it.
So what are we going to do?
That too.
Like a gallon of water.
I'm like, here you go.
Exactly.
Just fill it.
No, I was thinking like just sell it as a standalone product.
We don't install the G13s, but you know, we sell them.
You mean G12s?
Yeah, G12.
Leaks, we leak in now.
Yeah, that's one thing that I would think will,
but like maybe make it like work would be if it was if it was like the G12 right where you can you can install it but if it breaks we kind of won't fix it for you right because technically what you're doing is they're like out of warranty right um but i know people probably wouldn't like hearing that like hey buy this water block by the way if you break it and help you with it right i know we do it the water block itself we could replace i don't know about the customer's whole system that'd be right right yeah because I know we do offer you offer
that service with their crackings, right?
With the closed loops, but I don't know how that would work with just the block itself.
I'm not sure how other companies who sell blocks can handle the like RMA warranty process.
Okay.
I do have a few pictures where I gutted the Z63 and added like a copper radiator to it and turned it into a custom loop.
I just posted a picture of your build.
the podcast channel.
I sure.
Can I do that here?
Let's see.
Yeah, if you scroll up to the podcast channel.
By the way, guys, this is a live podcast, so
we do not pre-record this.
It's actually a really, really cool looking loop.
Oh, hey, you put it there.
Yeah.
Cool.
What kind of graphics card is?
Oh, the Poseidon?
Yeah, so it's a 1080 T.I.
That's a huge card.
That's a really big card.
And that's in a, is that a 210?
Yeah.
If you look at it really closely, that card sits inside of the radiator bracket.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
That's a really tight fit.
Yeah.
Oh, boy.
I love it.
Yeah, I'm not sure if I could do that myself.
I have very little patience for anything nowadays.
and I think like doing a custom loop
something I've always wanted to do
but something that I've always been afraid of doing
for fear of breaking it.
Yeah, you know, if you buy all the stuff
you can just bring it to me and I'll do it for you.
Sounds like a plan.
I'm going to hold you to that then.
Somebody already has.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
There's a guy named Simon
that works in the warehouse and he's like,
hey, I bought all this stuff.
Are you going to do it for me?
And I was like, oh yeah.
Sure.
You start charging for it,
and then you can start, you know,
like a little side business
where you start doing water cooling loops
and the next thing you know,
you have a whole warehouse full of
weebs and Korea booze
who watch K-pop and listen to J-pop all day.
We're already like that.
The only difference, though, now
is we have people that play like band-a music.
Do you want to
Do you want to name names?
The only thing I'll say is sometimes I'll be sitting there working on a computer
and then I'll just hear the little chimes of the bell tapping.
And I'll just like, oh, here it goes.
What's your, what's like your favorite banda song you hear in the warehouse?
Do you have like a favorite?
Is it like a top 40 hitter?
I'll be honest.
I can't name any particular banda songs.
I listen to it.
But like mostly at parties.
I don't really know.
Right.
No names.
All right.
Most of the music played in the warehouse, like out loud.
I don't know what it's called, but it sounds great.
Just like,
that's how it sounds like.
Yeah, for those who don't know.
Steven, so last question for me.
Do you have a special shout-up for anyone in the
company. Anyone who thinks deserve some love, some recognition, who you want to give a shout
out to? Honestly, I think right now everybody in the warehouse kind of, you know, needs a shout
out because it's been pretty busy. Kind of like we've been nonstop since. Right.
Since like it almost feels like since Black Friday, we've just been on a continuous like
everybody is going like all hands up kind of thing.
Right.
You know, everyone lately has kind of been pulling,
pulling tasks that they wouldn't normally have to.
And for everyone doing just a little more than, you know,
they need to, they definitely need a shout out.
For sure.
Yeah, I know that, um,
I'll say that like even myself, like working social
community, I feel like it's been like a huge load of work. It's been dumped on like everybody.
But definitely like, you know, the warehouse, right, from from the builder to the pickers to,
you know, the peeps in shipping who are playing the band-a music, right? RMA who's getting,
you know, things fixed and like sent back to people, customer service. It's been, it's been.
Are you saying that you don't want any more work, Dennis? Because that can be arranged.
I would love to do less work.
We certainly have a hundred computers waiting.
to be worked. If you want to work on that, I'll send it you away.
I sure, yeah. I'll be his own work computer. He's had his motherboard sitting on
on his desk for like a year. I'm not, listen, I'm not going to fix my own work computer, right?
If I'm, if I'm there all day for like eight hours, the last thing I'm going to do when I'm
down with my shift is open my, it's open up my own work computer and start fixing it.
Well, that's funny because like at NGXT, we don't have like an IT department because, you know,
Everyone that works here has to build their own work PC.
So I remember when Dennis first started, there was issues with this computer,
and he asked human resources, people ops, for some, to fix it.
And then they like, edges the box over, like, here you go, fix it.
And just came a motherboard.
And Dennis was like, I'm not going to do that.
It's literally been on this stuff for a year.
Yeah, when I was hired into RMA, they were like, hey, you get a computer.
I was like, oh, cool, do I get to build it?
And I was like, we have like these open box computers you can choose from.
And I was like, oh, can I do like an ITX computer?
And my lead was just kind of looked at me and he was like, do you really want to do an ITX computer?
And I was like, yeah.
And he was like, okay.
And like he just, he like just walked over there and like grabbed a bunch of parts and brought it to me.
And he was like, here you go.
I was like, awesome.
Thanks.
There you go.
All right, Ivan, your turn.
Yay.
My favorite part.
All right.
So, Mr. Stephen, my first question for you is, why does your microphone sound like absolute trash if you have two preamps on your setup over there?
Those are actually for my headphones.
My microphone is a USB mic, so I'm going to blame it on USB.
It should upgrade that, man.
You sound really bad.
I am sorry.
You should RMA that microphone.
All right.
Next question is, and this is something that I myself have experienced.
back in the old office.
I remember,
I didn't work in RMA,
but I remember I walked out to,
to the warehouse one day,
and I walked by the RMA department,
and the RMA guys were like,
what the heck?
Why would we get this?
I guess someone had sent us,
like a palette full of computers
that were supposed to go to Best Buy or something,
and they just, like, delivered them to us.
So I guess my question,
to you is have you ever received
anything interesting in RMA that
should not have been sent to us?
Yeah.
We actually just received like a whole chair backing
for like a really high-end gaming chair
and we looked it up and like though
just that part of the chair was like a thousand dollars
and it's like a Titan chair
if that means anything to anyone
but like we just received it
and we're like we don't know what this goes to.
we don't sell these things.
We all just kind of like stared at it and we're like, well, I guess someone's getting a free chair.
I'm pretty sure we can probably return those.
We do, but sometimes like customer doesn't respond to us.
Then like three months later we hear from them and they're like, oh yeah, you can, like, I don't want it anymore.
And we're like, okay.
Thanks.
All right.
Next question for you is, how much?
does it suck being left-handed?
Ooh.
I don't use scissors, right?
Whenever I reach up to, like, turn the knob to wash my hands,
it's always, like, scorching hot water.
What about working on computers?
Like, do you find it, like, difficult sometimes
because you're left-handed?
Computers, not so much.
I do hate it when I got.
to reach in there and there's like an air cooler there and I got to plug in the eight
pin for the CPU power and like I pull my hand out and there's a bunch of cuts
but I think that might be everyone at this point like
everyone like gets eaten by computers eventually. Luckily for you and Dennis who are both
left-handed left-handers don't live as long as right-handers so you guys don't have to
deal with those problems for a long time. What's um do you do you use your your mouth
left-handed or do you use the right-handed?
I use my mouse left-handed.
I use a G703, which it has the buttons on the wrong side, you know, for me.
But it tends to be pretty nice in my hand.
It's not super curvy.
Something you normally think about, but like the curviness of the mouse just kind of, it irks me.
Yeah, like today, I told Dennis, hey, by the way, I set up my computer in the podcast studio, so I want to record from there today.
And he said, why don't you just use a podcast PC?
And I told them, it's because you're left-handed and everything is backwards.
It's just so annoying.
Like, I don't know how left-handed people can function in this world, to be honest.
It's literally not backwards.
You just move the mouse from one side to the other, change it in the settings, and then you're good to go.
Do you guys drive six shift?
I do.
Yeah, is that weird?
I think you get used to it now.
Yeah, I'm pretty used to it now, but my car is a European car.
So, like, it's a European car made for the U.S. market.
So the shifting pattern is backwards.
What kind of car do you have?
It's a little Triumph GT6.
It's a 1970.
So it's a little tiny car.
Triumph GT6.
Yeah.
Let me look this up.
If you look up the one that's like a yellow color, that's it.
That's it.
1970 triumph GT6.
Whoa, that's a fancy looking car there.
It is not in that kind of condition, I promise you.
How come I've never seen this?
Oh, you said you worked the second shift, right?
Yeah.
I was like, I've never seen this car.
It looks pretty cool.
Oh, yeah.
That's really, that's the right color.
It looks like a James Bond type of car
You know, that's exactly
It was my grandmother's car
And that's exactly the look she was going for
That's pretty cool
Well, that kind of explains a little bit about you
Because we were trying to find some
Some dirt on you
And we were trying to see if you had any social media profiles
And we couldn't find anything
So I guess next question for you is
Are you a spy? Are you like undercover or something?
Why can we find you online?
My life is not that interesting, I promise you.
Most of my time I spent in my room playing video games and watching anime.
Can't relate.
I was a spy.
I would be a terrible spy.
Wow.
Real quick, before I want to the next question, before I forget,
what left-handed gaming or computer products would you like to see?
All of them.
Just send them all to me.
another thing you don't also think about is headphones are also right-handed because the buttons
are on different sides oh um here's a question for you on the on the left-hand mouse gang because
i've only met like two other people and think you're one of them who's used the mouth-thhanded
do you have your your keyboard really far out so you have like a really white stance or do you
like kind of squish your arms together?
I have an L desk, so my keyboard is actually right in the middle.
Oh, that's smart.
I'll send you a picture so you can, like, show everyone.
Yeah, I'm going to send a picture of mine too because I want people to see, like, what I actually work with every day, at least here at home.
And it's one of those things that's like, this is the most comfortable, but it also takes up a lot of space.
and luckily
if I ever had to share
like a desk with anyone
and they're right-handed
we're pretty much good to go
because like our elbows
or whatever aren't going to be bumping up right
but here let me let me send this out right now
you really are missing out
if you're not listening to the podcast live
in the podcast
channel
well my whole like desk system
is a little dusty so please
please be nice and don't
make me feel bad
yeah so there's
right there in the podcast channel.
So I will say at the very least,
the best part about this
is that
I can put things in the middle between the mouse
and the keyboard, and it just works
really, really well, right? I just have stuff,
you know, like, I can put like
a bottle of water over there
or I can put like
some pens and pencils, like a little notepad
which makes it pretty easy.
So, yeah.
I also have a picture of my
desk.
at work.
I don't know.
I'm not saving my phone though.
So I don't know if I can send that.
What time do you come into work?
Well, that kind of varies
because I like to come in
early. So lately I've been going in
at 2 o'clock, but the official
start time would be 4.
So it's 4 to 12.30 at night.
What do you do from two to four?
Repair computers.
Come on, Ivan.
Usually when I come in, I get any paperwork done and send anything I need, like talk to CS about anything I need to talk to them about.
That's usually like the main goal of coming in early is like, hey, I got, I have this computer at my desk.
I don't know what to do with.
Like, can you reach out to someone?
right like I have a return to center computer and it's on my desk and so a little H1 and I was like hey there's nothing in the system about this computer what's going on and CS kind of like looked at that and they were like oh that's not supposed to happen the customer was asking about that and I was like oh well I have it what do I do with it let's go ahead and give it back right yeah yeah I
I think I'm still waiting to hear back about that one.
They were like, oh, wait, we thought the customer had that.
They told Lee were like, hey, I found it at my neighbor's house.
And then I was like, no, they did not.
The customer is always wrong.
That's what we like to say around here, right?
Maybe not anymore, right?
All right, my next question for you is,
since we couldn't really find anything about you on social media,
all we had to go by coming up with some fun questions for you and digging up dirt was your Slack profile.
Not even your Discord profile, because we caught that this morning, but your Slack profile.
And we noticed that you seem to be really into dogs.
So are these dogs yours or whose dogs are these?
The husky is mine.
She is a...
12-year-old Siberian Husky.
She still acts like a puppy.
She's running around,
super active. She never stops.
Lately, she's gotten
into the habit of back-talking me.
So whenever I ask her to do something
or I'm like, hey, stop that.
She, like, screams.
She's like, shut up, Stephen. Don't tell me what to do.
Exactly.
She just back-talks me all the time.
I'm like, excuse me.
is you like like I'm talking what's your dog's name her her name's Rory R-O-R-R-R-Y
yeah um and then I have her and then another dog named Henry who's not that one not the one
in the picture the one in the picture is my cousin's dog his name is Micah he's a little
meanie Ozzy um but I have Henry who is
Maltapu. So he's a Maltese poodle.
He thinks he's a big dog.
So he was raised by the husky.
So he's always up in other dog's faces.
He plays with another dog named Rambo.
And Rambo is like three times his size.
And he's like just, he's a codel bug.
So he just wants to lay there and sleep most of the day.
And you'll see Henry decide that he wants to suddenly
play and he'll go up and grab Rambo by the face and like try to pull him outside and
like hey let's go play and it's really funny because it's it's a little tiny dog playing
dougal war with a big dog's like cheek it's hilarious couple buddies yeah and then i have cats
fish and two tarantulas what are your cats fish and tarantulas names
Um, the cat is Knox and Riley.
There's two of them.
They're both females.
Knox loves Stocher's murder things.
She's always breaking like dead lizards and birds and leaving them on our doorstep.
That's cute.
Yeah.
I don't know where she gets them, but like one time I saw her just kind of batting around a lizard and I, like, tried to save that lizard's life.
But I think, I think she just ran it.
to exhaustion.
And that lizard never, never recovered.
Oh, jeez.
And then I have some sick lids.
I have about four of them.
I have two Jack Demsies and two African sicklids.
Some what is.
I know what that is.
Sick lids are predatory fish.
They're kind of, they're the fish that eat other fish.
Sick lids.
Is that what you're saying?
With a C.H.
C.H.
I found it.
Type in Jack Dempsey or something and that will show you.
Do you take Dempsey a boxer?
They are American fish.
We like to name things after like people.
Let's see.
Okay, I found them right here.
These look pretty dope.
They're looking to scary to be honest.
This fish looks like a fish.
You will definitely punch me out.
I think it's a cichlade.
I know.
It's a cichlid.
It's a Du Boise-African Ciclet.
It's a Du Boise-African sicklet.
Yeah.
Mine are...
I think I have a picture.
There we go.
I think I found a good one.
This is a great radio, by the way, but here we go.
This is it right here.
Oh, yep.
Look, we sent the same picture.
Boom.
Hey.
Am my top a little better.
My sister-in-law has this really
big fish tank in her living room
and whenever I go visit
I'll sit in front of that fish tank and I'll stare at these fish
for like hours. It's
really, I don't know
relaxing is the right word but
it's kind of hypnotizing
in a lot of ways. Do you have like one of those crazy
fish tanks with like LED lights and everything?
Yeah, my
fish tank has actual like plants in it.
So it's like a real fish tank right?
Yeah.
I have like a whole light setup and the whole filtration system.
Nice.
I think the most of this conversation, this whole like podcast is about me having too many hobbies.
You can around too many hobbies, to be honest with you.
Do you have names for your tarantulas?
I do.
So I have two of them.
One of them is like a really lazy one.
and that one is named Iro
and then I have another one who's like a big fiery looking
tarantula and her name is Azula
and as their name suggests
Azula will attack you
she's way more aggressive than Iro is
Iro you can like go in and pet him and he'll just kind of like
relax there and like vibe with you
and Azula just wants you to
like leave her alone.
She's like, get out of my face.
What do you feed tarantulas?
Crickets.
And that's it?
You can feed them other things.
Right now, they're actually little babies,
so I can't really give them like mealworms and stuff
because like the little tiny mealworms,
I can't really find them anywhere.
I thought you were going to say Jack Dempsey fish.
He reads the fish to feed the bird.
Yeah, why not?
I think if they were to get into a fight, the fish might win.
Really?
Yeah, I think the fish is actually bigger than the tarantula is.
Not only to look up a video, because I have no idea what the scale of all these fish are.
We're saying they're bigger than a tarantula than...
Well, my tarantulas are only six months old, so they're actually pretty young.
They're little ones.
How old, six months?
Yeah.
How long do trenches live?
I've seen some of their lifespans be up to 20 years.
I don't know if these are 20 years, but some of them can live for 20 years.
It's ridiculous.
Like, I've always wanted to get like a parrot, but they live for like 70 years,
and I don't feel good about having an animal that's going to outlive me.
Like, if I die, well, okay, we're just thinking about it, right?
If you die, what happens to that?
Just get a left-headed parrot, so it won't live as long.
Oh, yeah.
Be careful, though.
Leftended people are prone to, like, mental illness,
so that parrot might turn on you.
Dude, what are you trying to say about me, man?
I'm not saying anything about you or myself.
I'm saying, be careful of the parrot.
You can't trust parrots, to be honest.
So besides all these pets that you have and computers in your car,
Do you have any other hobbies besides that?
That's already so many hobbies.
I know.
It is a lot.
Well, you have three big ones, right?
You have computers, cars, and animals.
Do you have a fourth or fifth?
Does collecting things count?
Yes.
What do you collect?
He's like, I collect cars, computers, and animals.
I mean, well, yes.
I have a bunch of like little figures and like I have a like fallout merch that I like to collect.
Oh, that's cool.
I also have the Star Wars.
Do you have the NZXT Fallout Boy case and the Nukukkahola case?
I don't.
But mostly because I don't know where I would put it.
You put on the wall.
I do have a wall, but that wall already has, like, paintings on it and, like, shelves and a fish tank.
So I'm not saying I don't want them.
I'm saying I just don't have the space.
Right, right.
So I'm going to ask you the first question I asked you about your audio quality.
Are you sure that your microphone is not just plugged into your monitor right now?
I am sure.
Would you like me to...
It sounds really bad.
would you like me to
troubleshoot it and you guys can just randomly talk
no
I don't really cool
okay
next question is
are you a fan of city pop
if that's the music you were playing earlier
I'm going to say yes
but that was the first time I listened to it
do you know what jazz sounds like
yeah
I thought it was jazz at first
and then someone started singing
and I was like, wait a minute.
I was a little confused too.
Yeah, you know, if you got a playlist for that,
I'll gladly listen to it just all the time.
There's a guy that I work with in RMA,
and he listens to, like, remakes of video game music.
And he sent me a few, like, albums,
and I've just been playing that as white noise
for the past few days
and video game music
is just the best music
to repair computers by, like with
Yeah, I feel like it does right
Do you, so are these remixes like,
Are they like, are they like chip tunes or
They're like different kinds of one
But like with
kind of like a more DJ vibe
kind of thing like a lot more like
there's like just added beats to it
like it's just it's better I'll send it to you
I can't play it obviously because you know
internet exists
can I like link the album
to Discord or tell people where it is
yes you're allowed
okay yes sir
and the
Pokemon one.
Dennis, should we play this?
Can we play this?
Not unless you were on the mixer.
Let me turn it.
Well,
while Stephen drops that link, I'm going to ask him
my last question
of the day for him.
One of the things
that not just RMA, but I guess like the warehouse team really enjoys our snacks.
There's like tons of snacks out there.
So what's your favorite snack while working?
I'm always bringing in tachies and little like leachy candies.
Could you say tachies?
Tacis, yeah.
Those are white tachies.
I am really into spice.
I love spicy food.
If it doesn't make me sweat, it's not spicy enough.
And, you know, like tahin?
Tahin?
You put tahine on your fruit?
Oh, yeah, tahim and watermelon is my good.
Or like tahim and like lemon with cucumber.
that's good too
yeah my my daughter she's too and she loves
she loves that stuff she's constantly like going
spicy spicy and just put it in her mouth
yeah I think he's good
yeah
yeah that's my last question
Dennis you want to hit up the community to
start answering those
well I've actually got one last question for Stephen
this kind of related is did you grab a snack for the podcast
because when I was
when I was asking him yesterday
we're getting everything together for the podcast.
He asked me, he asked me if we would be providing snacks and I told him that I wouldn't.
He said that was outrageous.
So I'm curious if Stephen brought a snack today for the podcast.
I did.
You did?
What are you snacking on?
Right before I checked in with you guys, I went over to my local donut shop.
And my breakfast consisted of a ham and cheese croissant.
And tachies.
and a calypso
lemonade
that sounds like an amazing meal
that's not like
it was great
yeah
all right
so I didn't get like a donut
but I got like a little
breakfast sandwich
and that was
that was great
yeah it's definitely not a bad podcast
bad podcast
definitely not a bad meal
yeah it's a good like
in the morning meal
like you're not quite awake yet
but you need something to wake you up
And that would be the takis, right?
Yep, that's what the takies are for.
Let's get you for the spice.
Okay, dokey.
So we got some community questions here.
Get ready, because these are fin to get a little weird.
Number one question from MilkBottle is who is the nerdiest?
Like between us or like R.M.
I'm assuming he's asking about RMA.
We actually have our own E-G girl.
his name is Denzel
everything
E-girl that you can imagine
that's him
he's our mascot
he is the absolute
nerdiest of us all
I'm a big fan of
I'm a big fan of Denzel
I actually had him on my team
when we had the
company-wide
Cannistrike tournament
Oh okay
Yeah
He put in some work for sure
He's great
like he he's into anything
like you play just a little tiny snippet
of any theme song
and he's like oh yeah that's that's from this
and it's this exact song
this is who wrote it
and we we always try to challenge that
we're always playing random like
theme music or like you know
just like anime stuff
around him and he's just
super super on top of it all
all right next question from fish
do they sell those mouse pads on the n60 website
Uh, which mouse pets?
I think you talk about mine.
I put the picture my setup.
Uh, the answer is, yeah, these purple ones, uh, they were gives for staff a couple years ago, but, um, we saw black ones.
Okay.
Um, yeah, I've, I've seen those purple ones floating around the office.
I am selling my old purple one that's really grimy and dirty if anyone wants to buy it.
if you want we can get some of denzil's bathtub water and pour it on there for you too
no thank you
it's a little sprinkle of it right yeah
just like put it in a little spray bottle and sports it
just add some flavor
keoh's son wants to know if you were to apply again at nxx t would you still pick
the same position
actually yeah yeah um i really enjoy
building computers.
I think that's the one thing
that sold me on working there
is, hey, you know what you do at home
normally just for fun?
Come here and get paid
for it. I was like, yeah, let's do it.
Like when you were applying, like, did you
look up NZXT on social media at all?
I kind of already had a bit of
like an exposure to you guys prior
to applying.
I don't know if I necessarily looked you up.
but I kind of already, you know, was like, oh, hey, I like this company.
This company is pretty cool.
I like them.
I like their cases.
I wonder that sometimes because, like, sometimes, like, there'll be people, like, you know,
new employees here, and then I'll meet them, and then I'll tell them what I do here.
And then they're like, oh, cool.
You guys are, you're funny on Twitter or something like that.
I was just wondering if, uh.
If I thought you were funny?
not funny but just you know we're like if you had like you know followed us on Twitter or something like
you know then we in a weird way like Dennis and I would be talking to you already before you
worked here you know um no uh I actually kind of I kind of went into NZXT not really knowing
anyone like I haven't not really any contact with anyone so I was you know fresh off the boat
kind of thing like strange new world of giant nerd utopia
right you know you i think we have like a few videos where like people are doing
walk around oh jay's video jay has a video of you know all the like anime like posters up on the
wall um that's still very much there and that's the first thing they point out to you they're
like hey look at our giant wall of nerdy things
the wall scroll of
Tom Cruise in the warehouse
do you like it if you hate it
do you want more of them
I think we should
fill that whole wall
of just
you know the nerdiest things
we can find on the internet
we're nothing but Tom Cruise
yeah it just Tom Cruise's face
on everything that would be
that would actually be pretty interesting
If we could do that.
Like turn Tom Cruise into a dragon or something.
Or possibly we do like a custom craft case, but it's Tom Cruise.
Yeah.
And like the the air intake fans are his eyeballs.
It'd be a little bit too much.
Okay.
Before we get to the next question, I'm going to go ahead and throw out the giveaway for our Nitro.
Apparently it's not going for me. Hold up. I think it's the wrong channel for this.
There we go. Okay.
So we're going to be giving away two GidsCorp Nitros in the podcast channel.
Please be, I don't know, just click on the thing.
We'll make it for five minutes. I want to take too much time.
There we go. Okay. It's out.
While that's going on, next question is going to be from Hamster Lord.
What is your favorite tool to use in RMA repair?
This sounds down kind of dumb, but my favorite tool to use is my hand.
Because sometimes I just go over and I smack a computer and it turns off.
And I just think that's the best thing in the world.
I have a few videos of me just going up and like the computer is on and running and then I just tap it.
And it shuts off.
And I'm like, yes.
I'm not sure if you want to be telling people that we smack it.
computers? We have a shake test. I know that sounds really, really dumb, but for some reason,
some computers come to us and it will pass, past every single test. It will go through the
whole process. And then we'll have it running there and something will tap it and it will just
shut off. So I will gladly let people know that if they, if they send computers into
RMA, I will shake it. Just to make sure.
Gotta get all that
Yeah, it's true.
Yeah.
Seems your computer has come down with a case of too much air.
You know, you just got to squeeze them out.
Other than that, we have like gyroscopic screwdrivers.
Those are pretty cool.
Well, drill gun.
That's pretty fun.
I've seen those.
I want one.
They're really cool.
Yeah, they're like $100 and I've almost bought myself one like three times.
I look at my like $5 screwdriver and I'm just like I can't leave you you've been with me so long
I've honestly seen those in the warehouse so many times and I've always wanted to like to
slat I like go on to Amazon and buy like a really cheap one because it looks like they're like really really really handy
especially for just like the real basic annoying stuff that you got a screen all the time right
um I think black and decker has a little handheld one uh it is button
there's a button on it, so it's not so much like you turn your hand either way.
But it's just a little one that is pretty much the same thing.
I think like $30 compared to, you know, a $100 drill.
Right.
And I have one of those.
They're pretty neat and handy, actually.
One time I saw one in a Paul's hardware video and I was like, hey, I have that home.
It was supposed to give when you have something that like the pro has, right?
Yeah.
you feel like you're just like a little bit better
yeah like I'm just like oh I'm smart
I thought of that too
Alan wants to know
do you have a cardboard cut out of yourself
at Dodger Stadium
I don't
I'm not that famous
I you know
if they ever reach out to me and ask me
like hey do you want a cardboard cut out
my honest reaction
I'm like are you sure
like I don't know if you want my face
that large in front of people
they may not show up
or maybe it'll come just for you, right?
You never know.
You know, to those people that show up,
to those people that show up just to see me,
my question to them is why?
Why would you do this?
Fish wants to know, would you recommend working for a PC company like NZXT?
Yeah.
All right.
there's a certain
kind of thing you have to think about
whether or not you want to turn
your hobby into a job
because turning your hobby into a job
does definitely make you think about it differently
and I'm not
going to say you'll be sacrificing it as a hobby
but you got to be able to separate the two
you know don't
don't bring work home with you and don't
think that work is just
fun time
don't don't listen to him Dennis
yeah you gotta
you gotta be able to balance it
no you can't you can't
not when you work in
in community and social media
it never sleeps you
you you have to take work home
no excuses
I asked work if I could bring work home
and they're like
no you can't just take an open product home
yeah that makes sense
like obviously you know I don't think it makes
a lot of sense to like, you know, like if you were a mechanic
and then you're like taking the car home with tools to work out of home,
that doesn't make sense, but, you know, for like Dennis and I,
you know, like if someone, if someone
you know, tweets or does something crazy on the server at midnight
and we're there and we're up, we kind of have to do something.
Yeah.
Yeah, I imagine you guys,
like you're always, always working.
We're working right now.
Yeah, you got me out of bed.
I'm working too.
Literally me doing my job right now.
It's listening to talk.
Of all the fun stuff, you guys do in RMA.
Ghost Turtle wants to know,
what is the most common issue you run into in RMA?
And he says, mainly focusing on the consumer parks,
not the BLDs.
Okay.
So a lot of the times
When something is here, it works
And we test it every single computer goes through QC
And gets like that stamp of approval
But once it gets put into a box
And it leaves our warehouse
We don't know what's going to happen to it
And so a lot of times our main
our main thing that we get is
D-O-A computers, so computers
that get to the customer and it doesn't even turn on.
And that one, we get a lot of those.
It's one of those things where no matter what,
if we were to send a thousand computers out the door,
at least 3% of them would come back.
You know, luckily keeping me in a job.
I mean, I would say that like,
ideally everything would come in working, right?
Yeah, if everything worked, I wouldn't work, you know?
Right, right.
So a lot of those times, it's, I think the main thing we get is like dead power supplies is, I just think the, I don't know what it is.
Maybe just the connections internally, they don't like the vibration moving around.
It's because power supplies are not important.
I disagree.
Yeah, we do a lot of power supply.
Do you have a friend for you here on the server?
If you do like car supplies?
We also get a lot of GPUs that just didn't want to stay put
and they come out of the socket and break things.
And I think those are like the two biggest ones.
It's either the power supply died or the GPU just decided to, you know,
have a jolly good time.
Jolly good time
Jolly good time
I'm gonna rub my
my brain around that
Here I wants to know what's the nastiest
RMA you've ever worked on
I'm not sure what he means by nasty
but I'll let you decide what that means
I had one that had
a spider's nest inside of it
What
It was abandoned
But there was an entire nest
Of spiders
That used to live inside of this computer
and it looks like someone just put the computer outside in a shed and left it there and things just moved in
and it was pretty gross um I was like hey like can I even work on this and they're like are you
comfortable with it I was like yeah I guess and they're like okay well then work on it and I was like great
Cool.
That's a
That's
Oh my God
Ivans, please stop posting
photos of
Twitter.
We should just post it on Twitter
with like no caption
and just see what people say.
Is it right after this?
Like seriously it's good.
Okay,
MilkBottle wants to know
how much time do you spend
on each RMA?
That's actually a good question.
I like that.
It varies
depending on the computer.
No matter what
every computer
is on my desk for a minimum of 30 minutes
because that's how long I do my whole
burn test suite.
Sometimes, you know,
the computer comes in.
I look at it and, you know, it's like, oh,
easy fix and I fix it.
Sometimes if it's like a, the ones that take a long time
are the Bsods or like software issue ones.
I had one for three days.
It was not giving me anything.
It was just being a,
perfect computer and right on that last day when I was about to send it out I got a B-sod and I was like
I was just so like why computer why do you do this to me so I guess it could be anywhere from
an hour to three days I think three days is my cutoff time and then add to three days what
do you use chuck it or do you do you do you send a new computer it's like forget it I'm over this
here's a new computer.
No, I do
just hours and hours of burn testing.
I'll leave it running at
just full bore that whole time.
Or I'll play games on it,
see if I can, like,
if the customer is like, oh, hey,
like when I'm playing CSGO,
my computer crash,
I'll look at him like, well, I guess I'm going to be
playing CSGO for an hour.
Right.
Sometimes.
What's the,
what's the funnest,
RMA you've ever had?
Has there been one where like you finish it?
Like that was actually like a really fun computer to work on.
I don't know if I think, I don't know if I would say that like working on computers is fun like that.
Like, oh yeah, this is great.
I'm going to just, you know, hang out with this computer.
I've had a few computers where they were just, you know, easy to work.
work on. I was like, oh, hey, like, this motherboard is broken. I'm going to replace it. And I just,
like, it's just everything comes out. I think, I think, like, one, one cable management is done
beautifully. I love that. So, like, clean cable, cable managed computers are my favorite.
Okay, okay. I have a thing against too many zip ties.
I'm all for, you know, zip ties and everything. But, like,
like I've opened up a computer and there was like 20 zip ties in there and I was like how.
All right.
I have one, not really a question, but more of a statement from one of your friends in CS.
She wants to say, can you tell Stephen that I said thank you for the zip ties that one day?
Oh, yeah, that was a, I know who that is.
Hello.
Yeah.
You know, if you need more, I have so many of them.
All right.
You guys hear it here first, right?
If you need zip ties, hit up Stephen.
He has.
No, hit up CS, but like, hey, C.S.
Stephen said, give me zip ties.
And then you give it to him?
Yeah, just tell CS you want zip ties.
All right.
Ethan Bradbury wants to know.
We got a couple more questions here to get through.
Ethan Bradberger wants to know, have you received any insect-confested,
insect-confessed PCs, which would be the spider's nest, right?
I take that and then I raise you
Dead lizard
Dead lizard
What?
Dead lizard
Yeah
Like
Not even like
freshly dead
Like
Very old dead
Like very old dead lizard
Completely dried out
It's just a husk
It's so gross
Where
Where was it located
The
Power Supply basement
Like down in that area
That makes sense
It's probably trying to get warm or something, right?
Yeah.
And Fish commented a stale lizard, and yes, very stale wizard.
Stale lizard.
Okay.
Charcoal wants to know, what is the best tip you would give to beginners thinking about water cooling their system?
Definitely say start small.
Don't think that you have to go hardline tubing.
right out the gate. Hardline tubing is
a whole other ballgame.
There's water cooling
and then there's hardline tubing
water cooling.
And you know, just start from the bottom
work your way up. You don't have to
like you don't have to water cool everything
right out the gate. You can start with
CPU and then
add in the GPU later on.
You know? Don't
like straight out the gate
go running.
It's more of a more of a sprint.
right right
all right
next question is
who is cooler
Poppy or you
Steven
that would be Ivan
by the way
if you don't know
that his name is Poppy
yeah
I don't know
I think
I think I'm going to say Ivan
correct
because I think I'm really cool
but there's always
you know
room for me to grow and I'm not super savvy on social media you know social media people
bubble think I even's cooler than I am you're right I'm kidding you're pretty close even
I like I you're probably cooler than me you have way more way more cool stuff than me I mean
I don't have on cars yeah 1970 European car with reverse um gears
or pets
if your car doesn't have a reverse
gear I would be very worried
you might need a new car
it took me a hot second to get but
I get it
Ethan Bradbury wants to know
can we get an NXC toaster
or kitchen appliances
this is for you Stephen
can we get them
if I just slap a sticker on it
and say it's from NZXT does that count
I'm going to say yes
Yeah so I'll just I'll
I'll re-rend it
I'll put a sticker on it and be like hey
Look at a cool toaster oven
And just send it
You know
Don't ask questions
Just put in the box and send it
Right
Right
Folks wants to know
Does setting to XMP void warranty
And then no RMA
My answer for that would be
Contact customer service
I'm not the expert on that
Okay
Then ask me for information on warranties
I will get them wrong
every single time
Charcoal wants to know
what is the best tip you would give to beginners
thinking about water cool in their system
Do I have to give tips again?
I will
Yes
Okay
Stephen Tech Tips
I would definitely say
Put some kind of
Antibacterial in there
I use PT nuke
which is like a little tiny vial
I one time
did that whole thing
and I opened up my loop and there was like something growing in there.
So main tip is make sure there's no leaks and make sure nothing grows in there.
I didn't even think about like a antibacterial, but like that would be a thing you need to throw into a water cooling loop.
Yeah.
It's like some liquid in there.
Well, you leave a couple water outside and algae starts to grow in it.
Right.
Why would a computer be different?
I don't know, because it's hot.
And it's going through...
Apparently lizards and, you know, spiders grow in computers.
That's true.
You don't want to manually spawn a spider or a lizard, right?
Yeah.
Charco wants to know, what's the hardest responsibility
that's job that you have?
We're responsible for a lot of inventory moving around in the warehouse.
So the main thing is staying...
Being able to stay on top of that is probably the hardest thing.
is knowing exactly what you're taking out and what you're putting in
because any little mistake
will drastically make inventory off.
Right, right.
And, you know, we were having an issue recently
where we haven't gone through our inventory in a while.
And we're sending a lot of things back to, like, our vendors.
And we actually had negative inventory.
I don't even know
how you do that.
Yeah, yeah.
That's definitely a really important part, right?
Like there's a lot of stuff that a lot of people don't realize
like has to be done in the warehouse.
And like keeping track of our inventory is like a big part of it, right?
Just knowing what we have, how much we have.
If we order more stuff.
And like especially if you're pulling things for like repairs, right?
I could be standing there with the part of my hand
and inventory will say we have like negative eight of them.
I'll just like look at my hand, look at the,
computer and how? How does this happen? It's right here. It's in my hand, right? Yeah.
I was going to ask that as well. So if somebody buys like a refurbished part or a refurbished
computer, does that pass by your guys' desks? It passed through us. It goes through us. We make sure
all the parts are there. We test everything. If there's a user on it, we restore it. We make sure,
you know, everything is clean. If there's anything broken.
in it, we will replace it.
And then it gets packed up.
And then once it gets bought, it will go through the whole build process again.
So someone else will go over, grab the box, check the parts, make sure it turns on.
And then send it over to QC.
And QC will go through it, check everything again, do all the tests again, and, you know, get it ready to ship out.
So something's like triple check, right?
Yeah, I think funny enough, open box computers and like refurb computers go through more checks than brand new computers do.
Right.
And that makes sense.
And I think it's something that I've heard from a lot of manufacturers just in general that if you buy something refurbish, you're technically getting something that's like checked more than a normal part or product order.
Yeah, exactly.
Funny fact. I actually have a refurbished X62 in my in my computer right now. I did only payable price.
So I got it for whatever the employee refurbished practice was, which is ridiculously good.
So I was like, for this price, I don't get a reasonable messed up.
A lot of things that happens with like stuff like that is we we sell through like Amazon and MicroCenter.
And whenever a customer receives it, opens it up, changes their mind.
and then just tapes it back up and sends it back without even installing it.
That stuff ends up over on our end.
Oh, really?
Like, oh, hey, like, you want to buy an open box cooler that's never been used?
Yeah.
No, when I got mine, it was literally like a brand new one because even like the little plastic that went over the thermal paste was completely intact and the same thing with thermal paste.
I'm like, okay, so I guess someone just didn't just thought it did.
They didn't like it, so they sent it back.
Yeah.
With that stuff, honestly, if you need something, you know, let me know.
All right.
I'm sure to hit you up.
Yeah, once the plastic wrap is broken, we can't sell it anymore.
Yeah, yeah, no, for sure.
Okay, a couple last minute questions here.
Zach your boy wants to know.
What's your favorite video game?
My favorite video game is always going to be fallout.
definitely not not 76 but I've always I've always been into Bethesda and I like those like long
role-playing games you can just kind of sit there and explore I like really big open world
type games are excited for the new Assassin's Creed so it's going to be open world biking stuff
I'm actually pretty excited for that one I haven't played an Assassin's Creed game in a while
mostly because since we've gotten busy
all of my like free time to be able to you know sit down and
enjoy a long game hasn't been here
so I've been playing a lot of like short
just jump in FPS games right
no same here I've definitely had a lot less time so
and anything that I play is definitely like more of a short PlayStation kind of thing
yeah
all right final question
and I think you might have already answered this one.
Tell me from wrong, from director,
if you receive an RMA, what's the first thing you check?
Number one thing.
Packaging.
I check the packaging first.
If the system's not packaged correctly,
it kind of sets the stage for what's going to go on
with the rest of the bill.
Right.
But when I get it out of the box and everything's there,
the first thing I do is I go in and I pull off the cooler
and I check out the CPUs.
Right.
Yeah, and then disconnect the power, use my own power supply on it,
and, you know, see if, you know, what do I need to do to get that thing to turn on?
Then there you guys have it.
Number one thing, check your packaging if you have your own computer.
I guess it doesn't really make sense, right, if it's your own computer and you pull it yourself.
So never mind that.
Well, I mean, you can still check, check.
your boxes, like, if you have individual,
like you ordered everything, you know, if there's any
damage on that box, you kind of
expect the worst.
And if you don't, if you're already expecting
the worst and, you know, the worst doesn't happen,
then, you know, there you go, you're already
on a high note. I like,
I like that line of thinking.
Low expectations
to start and then everything else is a nice,
nice surprise, right? Yeah, I mean,
when it comes to
like the smaller thing, you know,
you don't want to have low expectations
towards friends.
You want to be like, hey, you're my friend.
Don't mess that up.
You heard you hear first, folks.
All right.
I got some community roundup stuff.
So first off, thanks to, you know,
thanks to everyone for hanging out in the community.
You know, it means a lot you guys are chilling.
I think we're definitely having a good time
in the server these days, you know,
a lot of new friends coming in.
You know, let's, number one,
let's just make sure that we are welcoming
to everyone who's new and we
teach everyone what it means to be a good
N60 community member
N60 club member
so community roundup time
set up winner of the week this week
was milk bottle so congratulations to milk bottle
I think they're in the chat
thank you to them
and I'm sure you guys already have looked
at it but congratulations to
Luke I'm going to mess this up
Luke 7i
7G
someone's how to pronounce that for
a wallpaper of the week, which is actually really, really
dope wallpaper. We'll post that announcement up
in a little bit on the server.
I mean, do you have any other updates for the server?
I think we've been kind of
chill lately, right?
The only other update I want to give
real quick is just on
the rewards
and the shipping
information. So
as you guys, some of you guys might know,
I've been trying to improve
the process of the way that we
collect your information and ship out reward so it's much faster and it's going good you know rewards
are shipping out faster um and then i'm also working on getting people like tracking numbers automatically
emailed to them because it's really annoying when i wake up every morning and there's 50 DMs and they're
all like i have my tracking info like i i wish i could just you know spend my entire day giving people
tracking info, but to be honest, you don't need tracking info. You're going to get your reward.
Like, you just have to trust me and believe me, you're going to get it.
But if I have time to go to DMs and, you know, look up tracking info for all these people,
I do it. I just might be slow. But just no, you know, you don't need your tracking info.
Just trust me. I have been able to ship out thousands of stickers all over the world,
and you will get your stickers.
And I'm actually at the office today because I finally processed the sales orders for the design contest number six stickers from last month.
And everything's already packaged up and ready to go.
I just got to print out the sales orders.
And that's actually part of the reason why we didn't have a design contest for this month is because we're still trying to speed up the process.
the process of the way we ship all these things because, you know, now with the whole pandemic
situation, it also becomes a little bit more challenging because now I have to get stuff shipped
to my house, then I have to come to the office and get packing materials, and, you know,
I'm still packing stuff up, so just now everything you can get in the mail was in my living
room at one point and I touched it with my hands.
So I don't know
if that increases the value of it or not,
but just know that.
Just know that I'm trying to make
the rewards
get to you guys faster and I apologize
if you've de-ed me and
I haven't replied with the tracking info.
It's not like, you know,
I don't have everyone's tracking info memorized.
So for me to take time
and look up all this tracking information
it is time-consuming just because so many
people keep asking me for it.
So yeah, that's my only update.
All right, cool.
Thank you very much, Ivan, for that.
I think, yeah, I think it's really pretty much it.
Nothing really new.
I don't think.
I'm trying to think like what we've done on the server,
but we're just gonna give me things going in,
kind of plugging things along, you know?
Should we, should we just say that we wanna hire mods right now
and drop them up the mod app link to?
Yeah, I don't have the app on me,
but I'm sure someone here.
Look at the moderator link.
Oh, look at that.
Nice.
Very, very, yeah.
The only thing I want to say is it like back in stuff,
we're just working on on kind of simplifying a lot of that stuff,
the things that you guys don't see every day.
But yeah, you know, we are always looking for moderators,
so I think you're, you would be a good moderator.
Please apply.
We want to have, for sure, more people in the, like, early AM Pacific Standard Time.
So basically, like, whenever Aiden and, like, Hawks, you're awake, right?
We want to give Coxu the time to fly more airplanes and land them successfully.
Check out Aiden's X-plane 11 streams or whichever game he uses to fly planes.
So yeah, do that.
Only advice that we give to people is, you know, just do what the rules say, right?
It's really not hard.
Be nice to everyone, welcome people, you know, stuff like that.
we do look into the things that you say on the server.
So obviously, right?
Like, you know, if you apply,
and the application looks good.
And then we see your being mean the people in the server,
obviously we're not going to bring you on, right?
So be nice to everyone.
Be nice to your friends.
Be nice to people who aren't your friends, right?
It's probably the most important thing.
If there's someone you don't even like them,
you can be nice to them.
That says a lot.
Think about that one for a second.
I can name a few.
Yes.
I also just dropped the mod app link in the podcast chat and I pinned it,
but I also dropped it in the announcements channel
if you guys want to look at it later.
Please apply.
Steven, you should apply.
I already like work for you.
That's true.
All right.
And with that, thank you for joining us, Stephen.
Really appreciate you taking the time out of your day
to be here with us.
Yeah, anytime.
No, let me know if you need me to just come and talk
for no apparent reason.
again.
All right.
See you next Thursday at 10.
Yeah.
And thank you to everybody who tuned in.
Oh, actually, I do have a quick announcement, sort of announcement.
So next week, we're going to have a very, very special guest, which we're not going to announce yet.
But we're working on something pretty cool.
Yes, it's actually Stephen again.
Awesome.
Thank you for you.
We're tuned in.
Remember to tune in next week at 10 a.m. Pacific Standard.
of the official nz60 discord server and follow at nzc on all relevant social media and don't
forget to listen to previous episodes on apple podcast google podcast spotify and sound cloud also
please if you can be so kind leave us a positive review if you like what you hear and even if you
don't so thank you very much guys and with that we will see you next week iven hit me with those
fat tunes please you got it all right
I don't know.
I don't do this away.
