So start clicking on those clacky keyboards and get the whole world knowing about this amazing favorite your awesomest podcast.
My name is Dennis and with me as always is Ivan.
Oh, hold that.
I screw that up.
even on the one year anniversary one year anniversary of screw up say it again Ivan how are you Ivan
I said happy anniversary and I hope you know maybe in another year you'll actually be able to get
this right same here record a podcast without mistakes it wouldn't be it literally wouldn't be
me doing anything there wasn't some like goof up here and there on like at least every single
episode so to celebrate today's one year anniversary of the podcast being a thing we have a very
very special guest, the one and only Frank of random Frank P. Fame.
What's going on, guys? How are you? Great. How are you? You excited?
Yeah, definitely. This is really cool.
How many episodes have you listened to so far?
I listened to the last three to get like ready for this.
It's kind of like familiar with the format and stuff.
Oh, snap. How do you, uh, what's your like critique or like your opinion so far?
No, I think it's good. I like just, I, just, I say,
I like listening to podcasts that are like chill at the same time.
Like you can tune in and out at the same time.
So it's like, I don't know, I just enjoy it because you have like the tech aspect and stuff.
And it's, you know, it's nothing too serious, you know, so I enjoy that.
I'm pretty excited, I got to say.
I feel like I'm watching YouTube right now.
It's so weird.
Like, you know, I've seen like a bunch of Frank's videos and like talking to them.
It feels weird.
Yeah, right?
It really doesn't feel like I'm watching the YouTube video right now.
Like it's not every day that you can talk to someone that you watch like every day on like the YouTube's right.
So it's a little weird for me.
I'm not normally someone who gets like Starstruck right, but it's like, yo, it's random Frank P from random Frank P.
Well, I remember last week we tweeted up the podcast and then Frank replied like, NCCC has a podcast?
Yeah, I had no idea, honestly.
And then like later on that day, Andy.
Andy messaged us and he's like, hey, do you guys want Frank on the podcast?
And you're like, heck yeah.
It's like perfect timing too, you know, celebrating one year and figured, yeah, it's like, let's celebrate with Frank and, you know, give away some goodies on here.
Yeah, it worked out.
I really like the, like the different thumbnails you guys have for the podcast too.
Like each one's designed a little bit different.
But, uh, I think that's cool.
Yeah, that's all community artwork too.
Oh, nice.
Yeah, we have a.
a lot of like awesome artwork that the community draws for us in the discord server and
you know we have all these contests and stuff so we we love showing it off because it
it's uh it's really cool like and i don't know i don't see artwork for a lot of companies out there
you know we have yeah like tons of it so it's it's cool to show it off yeah i dig it yeah like
it's one of those things where when we first started we had no idea what to do for the art um
because a lot of podcasts use the same art right for for for every single
episode, which is totally cool, right?
It's like, it's like totally a branding thing.
But we kind of don't care about that because we have like all this amazing community
art.
So we figured why not use it?
Unfortunately, it doesn't apply on like Apple podcast or Google.
But on SoundCloud and Spotify, it does change the art every time because it just
pulls straight from the RSS feed, which is a, which for me is like a nice little treat.
Right.
So like if you're listening and using like those two platforms, you get like some cool different
n-6 art.
Yeah.
And it's all community.
it's all community made.
We just steal it from them.
It's okay.
So Frank, for those who don't know, who are you?
Who are you?
Yes.
So I pretty much just make tech reviews on YouTube.
And I'd say it's fair game for pretty much anything like tech and PC related.
So like gaming peripherals, keyboards, headsets, that kind of stuff, even like console accessories.
anything gaming and setup related pretty much.
I try to tie into the channel.
I do reviews, first looks, cool tech under 50,
different sort of setup videos and stuff like that.
So tech reviewer, call me that.
I literally wait for those for those cool tech under 50 videos because I'm like,
I have some money.
I have an Amazon account.
What do I buy, Frank?
Tell me, what is the coolest thing this month that I'm going to buy?
And like 90% of time is like,
almost like like you know there's like
there's that one thing like I'm just about to pick up but I kind of stop myself
like no I don't want to do it I can't do it yeah that's that's
definitely my most popular series in the channel I'd say
and I've been doing that every single month since the end of
2015 I want to say so it's it's been going
it's been gone do you ever like is that when you started your channel
in 2015 no so I started
if we're going to go way back here I opened the account back in
2008 just to like you know have a YouTube account but I never had internet growing up a little
fun fact about me I didn't have internet until I guess I was in like a senior in college or a senior
in high school sorry which was 2011 and once I went to college I was not really doing much on
YouTube obviously and it wasn't until my senior year of college which was 2014 where I started
uploading some videos and gaming stuff and um
just throughout uploading maybe like once or twice a month,
I started to build a subscriber base,
but then once I graduated college,
just when I started to like, all right,
I'll take this more seriously.
And instead of, you know, applying the jobs that summer
and putting my degree to use,
I figured, okay, I have,
I think at the time I had like 30,000 subs,
which was pretty good for not uploading, you know, at all pretty much.
Like I built this base just from uploading once every few weeks
or once a month or so.
So I figured, all right, I'll take the summer off.
and take the channel seriously, treat it as a nine to five.
And then a few months later, I, like, doubled in my subscriber base.
And now we're here five years later.
Wow.
Pretty crazy.
Yeah, it's been making you grow, man.
Like, I remember, you know, when you had, you know, like 30,000 subscribers, like you said.
Wow.
Like, I've never interacted with you.
Like, I don't work in PR, so I don't, like, you know, send out samples or anything like that.
but I do see everything happens on social media.
So I remember seeing you just come up and you're at what,
1.6 million subscribers now or something like that?
Yeah, 1.6.
It's been a wild ride.
That's nuts, man.
How often do you watch that number?
Do you use like Sierra at it sometimes?
What did you say?
How often do you watch that subscriber number go up?
So I used to have that like, like,
a lot metric clock.
Like, I remember, you know, that thing where like I can show you the real-time
subscriber base and I used to have that on my desk and it was great just to like see numbers go up
and also go down but then like last year they kind of changed it where it doesn't like display the
actual number now since YouTube just like rounds out in the channel so that's been a sort of
buzzkill but yeah I try not to I try not to look at it pretty frequently but someone
tagged me last week saying that I hit 1.6 so that was cool nice really cool did you did you want to
become a content creator when you were growing up i mean i i know there wasn't like a thing but
like did you want to be like in front of a camera or like did you know like one day just like you're a
kid and you're playing in the sandbox like i want to i want to be a star mom no this all just sort
of happened um i originally went to school for sports journalism i was very big into sports and
sports journalism growing up and i had a lot of you know early ventures involved with that whether it was
through like I did a lot of feature columnist work for the Philadelphia Eagles when I was
towards the end of high school in the college. So I got my foot in that door very early.
And then throughout college, I sort of shifted from sports journalism to sports PR.
I worked a lot from my university sports information company and stuff and worked in the college's
very own PR agency. So I was doing that for a bit. And that's what my degree is in. I have a
degree in public relations and communication studies. So I was your favorite team?
Yeah, I'm a big Eagles fan.
But yeah, I never really wanted to be a YouTuber or thought this was even a thing, really.
Like I said, it just kind of happened after I graduated.
But I will say, like I said before, after not having Internet growing up, like I would always, obviously, like at my friend's house and they'd like go hang out with friends.
I knew about YouTube, obviously.
It was a thing back in 2011 at that point.
And we would watch a lot of YouTube videos, even like the beginning, where it was all like just bail montages and just like crazy, you know, let the bodies hit the floor montage, that kind of stuff.
And I, there was something in me that always, always wanted to have a viral video.
So that kind of like, I guess once I started creating content was like a driving factor.
But I do feel like I always had a video camera in my hand growing up.
I'm also very heavily inspired by the TV show.
and movie jackass, which is like, and I know now maybe a lot of the younger kids don't really
know what that is, but when I was growing up, that was like a huge thing. So one of my first,
like, big purchases as a kid, I think I was in fourth grade and I dropped like $200 on a
video camera, which was like my entire life saving at that point. So I bought, yeah, there you go.
I bought a video camera young and me and my friends would just do like skateboarding stuff,
dumb little stunts and
I would edit the videos
in my free times. Yeah, someone in
chat saying CKY, yeah, CKY is
a huge influence on my
childhood. Oh my God.
You kind of look like one of the
jackass guys.
Kind of like Ban Marjora without the tent of it.
Yeah, Bam was definitely
he was an idol growing up because I'm
from like the Poconos, Pennsylvania area
and Philly's not that far. Yeah,
and he's from West Chester and stuff.
lives pretty close to me now where I live
funny enough but yeah
yeah when I was a kid too
I was really into
CKY because I was a big BMXer and skater
Oh nice yeah
Like I remember watching all those crazy videos
Those tapes were legendary because I remember like
I'm like a little bit younger than Ivan
And I remember being like the playground
And I would hear like stories of like these videos
You know these guys and they skate
They do crazy stuff
I'm like I'm gonna watch these videos
I remember there was this one video
put out by this company called Little Devil,
like a clothing company.
But it was basically like all the CKY guys
and like those guys were,
I don't think that sort of content could fly today to be honest.
Yeah, original CKY videos are not anything that could get by today.
But those were huge to me.
So I'm very happy and surprised
that you guys actually know what CKY is in those early videos.
I have them on, they're actually like right over here in my living room, VHS and DVD.
No way.
During the ship, so I'd buy them for both mediums.
Dennis and I are jackasses, so we know everything.
Yeah, no, I remember we used to pretend to do jackass stuff like in the playground.
Like you would like climb on top of the, the like baseball, what do you call it like a baseball chain link thing and like jump off.
They're like, oh man, we're doing jackass.
We're so crazy.
Some good stuff.
Yeah, so rough
Translation
That's pretty much the influence
Through everything I'm doing now
Random Frank P
Sounds like a jackass type of name, right?
Yeah, so
Okay, another little story for you guys
Like I said, we would make those jackass-inspired videos
But our series that we would call
Was called Random the Movie
So we had Random Movie Volume 1, 2, 3, 4
So I was Random Frank P
And that was like my AOL name
And my screen name for stuff
This is way back, like mid-2000s.
And when I opened my account, that was just my name at the time.
I never really changed it.
Like, I never intended the channel to take off.
And at that point, I didn't want to change the name.
So, yeah, it's all coming full circle here.
That's what the name comes from, all the roots there.
I want to see some random Frank P. Stunt videos, yeah.
I do have them.
A lot of them, I couldn't get on, like, what's it called?
Like a hard drive or anything, because the medium we use,
The camera I used back then was only capable of transferring files through Firewire.
And at the time, it was like crazy expensive for Firewire.
So I never really got them over to a digital format, unfortunately.
But we do have some DVDs and stuff that we made.
If I put it online, it would just be a giant embarrassment.
But we'll see.
We'll see.
Channel around once you had two million subscribers.
We do have some very early stuff up, and it's still live on the channel.
If you go and sort by like oldest to new, there are some skits that we would upload that are still there, but most of it's gone.
You go to always to start like a second channel like Linus does, right?
He has like the channel super fun with the really crazy word stunts.
I mean, that could be like your new, your new avenue, right?
The second channel should be Frank without a beard.
Yeah, clean shaving.
It's just one side, right?
Frank were you really technical growing up
like were you super in the tech or was it just like something that you fell into as you got older
I guess I sort of fell into it I mean I was always a big gamer
I was definitely like into all the gaming stuff when I was young
and I'm trying to think of what year it was I can't remember the year
but yeah I was big on like the original Game Boy N64 Dreamcast and all that
but that was like my extent of tech.
So I would just game a lot and never really got more into the technical side of things,
PCs and peripherals,
I guess until somewhere in college where,
you know,
I could start to afford to buy some stuff and buy some peripherals that I want to try,
new headphones,
different headsets.
And then I was doing gaming content,
but I would also upload reviews because I wanted to,
like I wanted to find out information on a headset that I wanted to buy,
but I couldn't find that info.
Well, I would buy it and then up with the review myself.
And I just started seeing that the tech reviews were doing a lot better view-wise
than the gaming stuff was.
So I just kind of shifted from gaming to tech.
Do you want to buy these so you can reveal?
I am very pumped to them.
I am.
What was your first tech review you did?
First tech review.
I think, as stupid as it sounds, I think the first time I reviewed something.
technology was a tablet stylus.
I think that might have been it.
After that, I know I reviewed the Sony Pulse Edition headset for the PS3,
but also, NZXT was the first company to supply me a product for review back in,
this is either 2013 or 2014 at this point, and it was the P240, the P240 case.
That was the first product I ever got for free on the channel to review.
And you got it from Mitch, right?
I don't remember the contact.
Yeah, I remember I was there when you first started,
and I remember, like, when we sent you that.
And, like, I think we sent you an S340 at the year after that,
an H440, I think maybe.
Yeah, but definitely, I had the H440 for a long time.
I think it was the P240.
You probably would remember the actual.
I think it was.
P240. It was the last
time we made.
The last one and the cheapest one.
Yeah, so that was
definitely cool because that really opened the door
for me to be like, okay, so if
NCXT is definitely like on board
to send stuff out, like, can I
evolve this and do this more often?
So it was cool.
Has it ever been something that you wanted
to get sent out that you just could never get
your hands on? Is it a holy grail
for you?
I mean, there's definitely
been like some headphones that I really wanted to try out that are like a few thousand dollars so
obviously can't get my hand on them.
Unlike the Senheiser ones, the like the HD 800 and 800 S, but I just wound up buying them
because that was like my holy grail.
But yeah, there's still definitely some things that I can't, I don't have access to because
I'm not either like in that genre of tech for the company to send out.
But I do what I can with what I'm given for the channel.
So no complaints on that front.
Right, right. How do you feel your channels changed from when you first started to today?
More structured and professional.
Because when I first started doing the tech reviews, I was just uploading content with my iPhone 4.
And like the footage wasn't good, the audio wasn't good.
I was just like awkward on camera.
So over the years, I got more, you know, comfortable with it.
And I've evolved to have like a full studio and stuff in the house where I could, you know,
work on lighting all the time and setting up that kind of stuff, perfecting little things for B-roll.
Definitely got more professional and quality's gotten better with camera and stuff.
That's been a big help.
Yeah, I know that there's just like kind of, I'm not going to say it's like a misconception,
but I feel like a lot of aspiring content creators feel like they had to have all the good
equipment before they can just start, right?
Yeah.
Do you feel like that's the case?
No, because, I mean, I know for me, like I said, I started with an iPhone 4.
My buddy who also does tech videos, Justin Say, he, I think it was, he used to do a lot of Apple stuff,
but he would also upload stuff on a webcam, his iPhone.
And a lot of us, I mean, it is kind of tough to say now because people are shooting with $50,000
reds, RELXA cameras, just crazy, crazy expensive cams.
But just getting your foot in a door, getting that experience with web.
whatever you have, whether it is your phone, especially phones now.
Phones now have great cameras.
So if you just want to use that, even an old webcam, you just start getting more content up.
There's no reason not to put out videos or content if that's what you want to do.
I'm just going through some of the community questions because some of these are kind of related.
I want to get these in here now while we're talking about the same kind of thing.
And also because we also at the max too.
So I want to get some more questions cycling through.
What is the most outrageous thing that has happened
during the filming of a video?
Oh, man.
I honestly can't think of anything.
Okay, I got one for you.
So last year during Cool Tech Under 50 for January,
I was just showing off a little gadget
that was like a multi-car device for,
it was like a USB charger, I think,
but could also like puncture the window and stuff
if you were ever like going underwater.
I was showing off one of those.
And to demonstrate it, I thought it would be a good idea to just show it on a light bulb.
So I'm holding a light bulb, but I'm using this thing that could puncture and shatter a windshield.
And it completely exploded in my hand.
I cut a pretty decent part of my fingertip off on camera.
So I had to go get that stitched up.
Yeah, I left a little bit of that at the end of the video as a blooper for those who might have stuck around and saw that.
But yeah, that happened.
A lot of blood.
Some CKY stuff right there
There's literally some jackass stuff right there
Let me just stab this
Yeah, I wasn't thinking too small on that
What was the scariest thing
Starting out as a content creator?
I think the scariest thing for me
Was just the unknown
Of the leap I was taking
After college
So like I was just gonna take that summer off
And I didn't know if it was gonna pay off
Like I just got this degree
Am I gonna put it to use
Or am I just like wasting
that and, you know, uploading videos.
What if that doesn't take off?
You know, so I was definitely conflicted at the time.
But it was one of those things where it was like, if I don't try YouTube and don't
give it a shot, it's always going to be one of those things in the back of my head where I'm like,
what if, like, what if I just started making videos?
Like, who knows what kind of subscriber-based an audience I could have gotten instead of
just, you know, working a 9-to-5 PR job.
Right, right.
So I'm happy I took that leap.
But there's definitely a lot of unknown in that.
definitely don't want to end up like Andy.
There's nothing wrong.
I guess that came out wrong.
There's nothing wrong with PR.
That's what I went to school for.
But I just meant for me, like, you know, trying out YouTube and kind of having that
opportunity at the time.
I couldn't resist.
Andy, I was going to ask you, since I brought him up, I'm going to ask you now, like,
Andy loves you, man.
He's like, even today he was like, oh, can I come up?
I go on in the pre-show.
I want to chat with Frank.
I guess my, what's it like working with Andy?
I'm curious.
Yeah, no, he's great.
He's always offering to send out some new stuff.
And even a lot of times, like, right as it's coming out,
he'll come up before I even like, you know, say yes or no,
it'll just be at my doorstep.
So it's great.
He's a good guy.
Yeah, I love Andy.
Even like for today, very last minute, we were like,
hey, Mike, you give us some stuff to give away on the podcast.
He's like, sure, anything for Frank.
No problem.
Well, thank you, Andy.
I know you're listening.
I mean, well, it took like three months for me to get a crack in Z so I could do some stuff from home.
It's like I can post on Instagram.
Frank, what was your favorite or what has been your favorite NXC product to review?
Let's bring it back to us.
Let's see.
I still got to say the H440 is one of my favorite cases of all time.
Thank you.
I love that case.
The H510, I believe, that was.
I used that one for a while as well.
That was a really great one.
And I haven't hooked it up yet.
But like you said, the new Cracken AIO, like the display and stuff, I'm waiting to upgrade my rig.
Probably in the next month or so.
I'm going to integrate that.
But that looks really awesome.
And I've seen a lot of good stuff about it.
What was your least favorite N60 product to review?
And be honest.
We're all listening right now.
Least favorite one to review.
I can't think of a certain product that's given me.
a headache other than
cam software every now and then
especially with
I mean like I use the RGBs
like with the IQ not the IQ
that's course there
the uh how dare you
I can't even think of the name because I used to have the one
that had the dials on it
and I know you guys switch to full like digital
for the RGB but yeah those have been
great and just the cam sometimes
gives me it gives the issues every now and then
cam was definitely at one point
our biggest, I don't want to say a problem, but that was a challenge, you know,
because we were a hardware company.
Well, basically, we were primarily like just a case manufacturer that was trying to make software.
And like, you know, five years ago when we started cam, there was literally no software developer
in the world that wanted to work at a case manufacturer to do software.
So we kind of had to figure it out ourselves.
but little by little it kept improving and then two years ago now or yeah two years ago now
I think we actually bought a software company called forge and now in my opinion you know
cams definitely still not perfect but it's definitely in a great great place yeah it's got
gotten a lot better for sure yeah especially I really like the beta version too if you haven't
got you check that out I well shoutouts to the
cam team Jeff and the boys out there in SF and all over the world.
Cam, cam, cam, cam, it's on our Discord server if you want to check out the beta.
And I think also like Cam, like full release also will bug you if you want to go into beta, right?
It's like, hey, we have a beta.
You want to, you want to do it?
You want to break your, you're going to break your RGB?
Test it with us.
What, in your opinion, Frank, and this is something that,
I think we don't really get to ask a lot of reviewers very often.
What do you see?
What changes have you seen in NSXT over the years for good or for worse?
I'm really curious what your opinions on that.
Kind of like what you just said, like the willingness to adapt and stuff.
So it's just from starting as a case company, you know, making these cases,
you guys have tons of new products and stuff.
And even with the headsets coming out.
Like that's a whole different sort of category for tech.
And you're venturing into it.
It looks great.
I'm pumped to check it out.
So the fact you guys are taking the risks and kind of broadening up the inventory, if you will,
is definitely something I could appreciate.
What would you like to see us make besides that sets?
I'd like to see you guys make.
I don't know.
That's a tough one.
Because you guys do a lot already, whether it's, you know, the GPU coolers.
I don't know.
I was like a podcast without mistakes
Same here, yeah
Unfortunately
You gotta pay a little bit more for that
You get what you pay for
Someone in chat said
Keyboards
That would be a cool product to eventually
I'm a big keyboard guy
I have an N-Z-XT keyboard right here
It's a Ducky
Two or Ducky 3 I forget
Which one is it?
This is great radio, by the way.
You can't even see it.
There, yeah, the NXC Ducky keyboard.
Yeah.
That's some old school stuff.
I remember when I was using one and Wes is like, hey, where did you get that keyboard?
I'm like, oh, I haven't gave to me.
He's like, yeah, we're going to need that back.
He's like, when he got like two left.
Yeah, I don't know either because they just sit there and like that room.
But like, you know, like it makes sense, right?
It was literally like next to a trash can.
like next to a trash can in like a open brown box
like there's this
like I didn't know I didn't know he was saving it
there's some like diehard NZC fan who's like
looking on eBay for one of these keyboards
and just here this next to trash can
and the office are like oh my God
Frank what's something that a hardware manufacturer
does that makes it easy for reviewers
um
very well done like briefing
guides and review guides because a lot of times you know before a product comes out and we get sent
something there's no information out there so know more about it if i want to know about specs or something
like that like the you know the fine details of it so having it's a really good briefing guide or some
sort of reviewer's guide that just breaks everything down for you definitely helpful saves a lot of time
can you rate andy's reviewer guides one out of ten i'll give him a nine oh you hear that andy
Give him a nine.
What is he going to do to get a 10?
I'm trying to think of the last one that I can remember from you guys.
Maybe a cleaner text.
Cleaner text.
From what I remember, if I'm thinking of the right one, it's just a weighted a little bit too much.
So maybe just a little cleaner.
You hear that, Jen?
I know you're listening.
All right.
So here, just a couple of easy ones here for you.
Just real basic.
How does someone become a YouTuber?
If I want to be the next random Frank P.
If I want to be random Denny B, how do I do this?
Just start uploading, be consistent, put out good quality content that you would want to watch.
Because at the end of the day, if you're putting out stuff that you don't want to watch or you don't enjoy or it's not just like a final product that you would want to watch, then no one.
else is going to want to watch it either, you know.
So just do what you can, try to be consistent with it, try to get on the good side of YouTube's bizarre, unknown algorithm, and just go for it.
All right.
And a final question for me.
Do you have any questions for us?
Nothing I can think of other than when's that headset coming out.
We talked about this already.
Yeah, Andy.
Come on, dude.
All right, Ivan.
What's up?
Your turn, Ivan.
Let's do it.
Well, I thought we were going to skip the fun questions and go straight into the community questions.
You're right.
My only fun question was I wanted to know what it was like working with Andy.
But I do have a question for Frank, though.
Yep, what do you like most about your subscribers?
Because you have a lot of them.
And I'm sure, you know, everyone's audience is different.
Like, I know what I love about NZXT's.
community, but what do you love about yours?
Yeah, I think one of the things I could definitely appreciate is a lot of them are like OG viewers.
Like people, like, I'm pretty good with names and stuff, and I will see people like still commenting and interacting from like way back when I was even doing like gaming stuff.
And like people who had early followed me on Twitch when I was trying to do Twitch stuff even before YouTube.
They would like follow me there, come over.
And it's still even today watching around.
So I guess the loyalty is definitely one thing I can appreciate it for.
a lot of the viewers is they've stuck around for a long time and they're still putting up with me
i think you'll get two million before for the end of 2020 yeah that would be cool i uh i think i'm on
track to be right around there but we'll see we'll see you're next year it'll be uh putty pie
versus random frank p yeah defeat random frank p um before we get into the community questions i
think right now is a good time to set up the giveaway so Dennis here will be dropping
the bot message in the chat people just react with the Tadda emo and you'll be answered to win
a giveaway and Dennis do you want to tell them what they'll win I just asked you because I want to
make sure I just got this right but it is an NZXT crackin X 63 yay yes I'm excited I'm excited
I can find us with any data or concrete evidence, but I do think it's probably our most popular water cooler.
I think it's the one that's compatible with literally every case we make.
So it's definitely a popular one.
Thank you for pinning it, whoever pinned it.
I was trying to grab it in the channel.
The channel was flying up so hard.
I couldn't grab it.
I was hoping there was enough room to pin.
But yeah, anyway, just react to that message, guys.
And it ends at 1104.
So 1104 will announce the giveaway winner in 30 minutes.
But until then, we have a bunch of community questions here that we'll get through.
So, Dennis, I'll let you take it away from here.
Sure thing.
All right.
Community questions for Frank.
Here we go.
Frank, what headphones are you using right now?
These are the HyperX Cloud Alpha S blackout, I believe.
Let me see.
I just got them recently to check out, but I believe this is actually my first time using them.
I had to unbox them and set them up beforehand.
But, yeah, the blackout edition.
The HyperX headphones are really comfy.
Those are the ones I had before these, and they fit really good over my big ears.
Yeah, these two fit pretty good.
How does it sound?
Does it sound okay?
Sounds great.
That sounds perfect.
Director wants to know what's it like being a tech YouTuber.
So it's just like overall, what's it feel like being?
being you know being the guy and no it's it's definitely cool it's still a very very bizarre feeling
where i'm out somewhere and someone will like recognize me or like come up and like talk um it happens a lot
more frequently than i ever thought it would and i'm still just not used to it like i was sold
it's like i'll look at him and i'll try to be like okay where do i know you from like did we go to school
together like and they're like oh no i'm a fan or i watch the channel i'm like oh okay so i'm still
like not used to it on that front right but it's also deceivingly a lot more work
than people, I think, probably think or give credit to.
Like, I am constantly putting in, like, 10 to 12-hour days, editing, getting stuff ready.
Lighting takes a while.
It takes up a huge chunk of the day.
Really?
And I really only take, like, Sundays and Mondays off.
But there's a lot of work that goes into it behind the scenes that people don't really, like, you know, fully understand or what I would think about.
You see an eight-minute video, you think, oh, it took eight or ten minutes to make.
Now it takes sometimes multiple days, 10 hour days.
A lot of work.
That's literally the reason why we don't do video content.
Yeah, like I've tried doing like really small like 15 second, 50 second videos for Instagram and like I'll spend hours in that thing.
Like tweaking it, making sure it's right.
And like Ivan, I got time for this dude.
Like I want to do, but I ain't got time for this.
Yeah.
It's a whole time job.
As like one man crew, like I do everything myself, color correction.
editing, audio, the lighting, the camera work, everything myself.
So it definitely takes a lot.
Yeah, so that kind of answers the next question from start to finish on average.
How long does it take to upload a video?
So you would say, what, anywhere from day to a couple days, right?
Yes, some videos I can knock out in a full day, like, you know, put 12 hours into it.
Some other videos will take like three or four days of 10 hours.
Some will take a whole week.
A lot of the PC stuff or like benchmarking or full reviews on cases take a long time.
But it could definitely vary from like, you know, 10 hours to like maybe like 30 or 40.
Right.
IAPAC XE wants to know.
Will you watch Samsung unpacked August 2020?
And if so, what are you excited for?
Probably not.
I'm not for a tech guy.
I'm not really too much into or evolved of like, you know, smartphones and stuff.
I'm fine with my phone.
I know for people out there who hate Apple, it's okay.
I rock an iPhone.
I always have.
Yeah.
I know Samsung's doing some good stuff,
but I probably won't tune in.
I'll cash everyone else talking about it afterwards.
I'm the same way.
I couldn't care less about phones.
Yeah.
I mean, their phones are cool,
but I feel like phones have gotten as cool as they can get for a good long while.
I don't know what else we could do with them
other than just like add like 50 more cameras to the back of it.
Yeah, the camera stuff has been the new trend.
And over the last year with like the folding displays, that's all cool.
That's not going to, you're not going to see more of that stuff probably until they perfect it.
And then the norm is just going to be, you know, the slim profile in your pocket, whatever size screen.
But yeah, yeah, I'm fine with mine.
Speaking of, like, other guys who do, like, video and stuff, are there any other tech YouTubers that you, like, inspired by or that you, like, really, I don't know, it's really, what's the word?
respect. Yeah, for sure. So even before, like I said before, before I was doing YouTube as a job or even
doing tech stuff, I was always watching MKBHD, your average consumer. Shout out to them.
Linus, like I would never miss an upload from those guys. Hardware Canucks. And then what's really cool is
as I got to do this, you know, I got to meet them, become good friends with them. I talk to a lot
of them like very frequently. I got to, it was really cool. My first CES that I went.
I think it was 2016 and I met MKBHD and he like knew who I was and was talking to me about the camera I just got so that was just like really surreal and cool for me to be like I've been watching you for like five years at this point and I'm like new to the game but like you already know who I am so that was definitely cool the old heads are always watching right
I think you already answered this question uh what inspired you to start YouTube I think it was just you doing reviews right just just just yeah just try to just try to
to get my opinion out there on some tech that I couldn't find.
So like a lot of the big things was with headphones and headsets.
I just wanted to get a really good pair back in the day, but there are some things that I wanted to know that I couldn't find out there.
So I would just buy it myself and talk about my own opinion on it.
All right.
Let's keep scrolling down here.
What phones do you guys all use?
So I use an iPhone X.
Ivan, what do you use?
I have a purpleish Google Pixel 3A.
and the only reason I got it's because it's purple
I'm on the
11 Pro Max
I believe it's what's called
you're not a real baller though unless you rocked your phone
without a case
I know I know well we need to do this is what happens
my phone's all cracked up on the
on the corner
yeah I like about this phone too is that it's plastic
so I've dropped this a million times
never once broke it doesn't even have a chip
on it and I seriously dropped it like a bunch
yeah I've got a metal bumper on mine
I don't think you could see it but I've got
some scratches and
vents all along the sides
from dropping it.
So this has saved me.
Mine broke in the bathroom
on the bath mat.
Like,
it fell on the corner
of the bath mat
on like one little bod spot
where there's like no,
no fuzz.
And I'm like,
well,
like this is,
this is how it goes.
This is how it goes, right?
That's what you get
for taking your phone
in the bathroom.
Yeah.
I started writing best tweets.
I've broken two phones
in my lifetime.
They've all been in the bathroom.
I don't take my phone
in the bathroom.
It's a good habit not to.
When I do, it's just going to, like, you know,
using your phone in there and, like, drop their toilet or something.
Nothing better than, like, just sitting down and just, like,
scrolling through TikTok for, like, a couple minutes, you know?
It's really relaxing.
Stonky wants to know.
Did you ever get Pucci?
And then he also linked a image of you saying that you hear for a plush from 2019.
What's the name of it?
Poochee.
Poochee.
Poochee.
Poochee.
No, no, I never got one.
I mean, that's when I first found out about the Discord.
Oh, really?
Yeah, so I hopped in for that.
Just say what's up to everyone.
I'm going to make a note right now.
Tell Andy to send Frank Coochie.
Here for a plush.
Yeah, what was that last summer?
Maybe that's why Andy hasn't met Frank yet because he never got that plush.
You think the PR guy would be able to take care of that, right?
I lost my mouse cursor
I hate when that happens
as soon as this
solve for that
okay
hacker man Viggy
wants to know
any thoughts on the
lumix G7
don't have any thoughts
in the Lumix G7
I know it's
one of their
like mid-range
budget cameras
I know they do
good stuff
Panasonic does
definitely good stuff
as an alternative
to Sony and Canon
but I haven't looked
too much into it
I've been rocking
my black magic camera
for a while now,
so I haven't really looked
to upgrade too much.
A little black magic.
Those guys are great.
Everything to do is just amazing.
Yeah, I took a giant swing
back in the day
on the Black Magic
Ursa Mini Pro when that first got announced.
That was in 2015.
After using a...
I was using some sort of Lumix cam at the time.
The DZ-1000, I want to say.
And that was like the first like
4K budget cam at the time.
So I was using that for a while.
But then, yeah,
I took the plunge and upgraded the black magic.
And it's been pretty good ever since.
Big learning curve, but it's paid off.
Yeah, no, for sure.
They're definitely not.
They're definitely different.
I'll see that.
Because when I used to work in e-sports production,
like 99% of the cameras are all black magic for whatever reason.
Not nice.
Captain Batpool wants to know.
Do you think that AMD will ever be competitive enough to actually take on NVIDIA?
I think, oh, take on NVIDIA.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, it depends.
Because with CPUs, they're definitely at the top of the market right now.
But graphics cards, it's tough.
I think it's just safe to say that we'll give AMD the GPU market and or the
AMD the CPU market and Vividy and Intel the GPUs.
I would love to be rocking like a full AMD build.
I just, I'm just still myself too comfortable with where I'm at, you know.
I'm still so happy with what I got.
I love building.
I don't love building that much.
Winter wants to know what is your monitor.
I don't know what monitors I have in the office,
some MSI monitors.
I don't remember the exact model number
because monitors always have just like,
you know, tons of stuff around the end of them.
But it's one of LG's latest from last year at this point.
It's a 34-inch ultra-wide, 120 hertz.
Can't remember the name.
I did a vlog about upgrading to them.
But I also have the new Samsung Odyssey G9,
which is their crazy 49-inch one.
I have that monitor at a separate setup in the studio,
and that's definitely even crazy.
How can I mean you want to know,
what's your favorite video game of all time?
Oh, man, I played...
Let's see.
I played a lot of Battlefield 3, like an unhealthy amount.
Okay, okay.
I'm down.
So I can put that.
up there. That also came out like a week within Skyrim. And that was all my freshman year of college. So they came out within a week of each other. And me and my roommate were just, we were just sunk in for that entire semester pretty much. But yeah, those two definitely stick out to me. I'm still a sucker for old like N64 games that I grew up on. But I could say probably Battlefield 3 and Skyrim up there.
Yeah, we were talking about, I forget what does.
device was I think we leaked in in our slack like 20 times this week I haven but it's it's like
this little handheld that accepts like carts for all kinds of other things yeah it's the
I forgot the name of it too the digital digital it starts with the P or something right but anyway like
I was thinking about like what games I would like to play on this thing and I like went to my drawer
and I dug through everything and I found out my old cart of golden sun and I was like I forgot
I love this game.
I forgot.
It's like one of my favorite games.
I need to actually beat it.
I've never beaten it and it's my favorite game.
Yeah, it's called the analog.
Oh, there go, yeah.
Alan just linked it.
It's available for pre-order, I think, pretty soon.
But it's $200.
So I don't know.
I'm going to pre-order it because, like, I have like a knockoff thing like this.
That's an emulator that has like three,
N-E-S and S-NES game already.
I got her for like $20 and it was fine, but
this design was freaking awesome.
Yeah, there's a lot of emulators
out there. He's got to find the good ones
between the knockoff
junk that they get pushed out with.
Yeah. And plus I think all the
games I would play are, because my favorite
game is Super Mario Bros. 3.
I play it all the time on my Switch. So I don't
know if I would drop another
$200 on this thing just so I can play with the
cartridge. I don't care that
much.
It does look cool, though.
Yeah, that's the only thing is, like, I don't want to be holding around a bunch of cartridges, right?
Like, it's too much.
I think I already made the switch to digital once, like, Half Light 2 came out.
Like, I just, like, internally, like, okay, I'm going to buy games on the internet and just download them now.
I don't want to have boxes, but, you know, sometimes you still hold these things kind of dear, right?
I feel you.
So I got a core wants to know.
What is your favorite brand overall for gaming headsets?
Favorite brand overall?
I think in terms of consistency, I would have to go.
go HyperX.
Logitex had some really good releases over the last year with their GPro X product line.
They just released the wireless version of that.
And also Razors done a really good 180 in terms of kind of flipping like their design
and all their stuff.
They've come out with some really good budget stuff.
Even today, like my review just went up like an hour or two ago of their brand new Black Shark V2
and V2X headset, which was one of my first actual head.
headset reviews the original Black Shark.
And then today they announced the like seven years later, the V2 and V2X of it.
And it's really, really good for 100 bucks.
They have two different versions.
So there's a lot of, it's a good time to be a consumer.
Let's just say that.
You know, tech's always evolving.
And we're only going to get better products in the end.
That's all it should be right.
Like that's, that's how it.
Sorry, I'm trying to read chat to you the same time.
I'll try to try to try to do this podcast thing.
Minicuddle wants to know.
Can you show us your pretty custom mechanical.
that you built if you have it with you?
I don't have it with me right now.
I'm up in the living room.
That's down in the studio.
Sorry,
but which one, though,
because I've built a decent amount.
So I actually want to talk about that
because I've been noticing,
and I'm sure everyone else has this,
all of a sudden,
everybody's building keyboards.
Everybody's talking about keyboards.
And I feel like your videos are coming up
consistently when it comes to mechanical keyboards.
Is that something that
you've noticed or something that you just fell into like or do you just go I like this thing I want to
start making keyboards and now like it's if I feel like it's exploding it's getting really huge
yes the custom keyboard community is definitely exploding over the last year so yeah um there's just
been a lot new companies popping up that are putting out really great stuff and there's a lot of
good content creators out there I got to give a shout out to Teja Types my buddy who does
really great, like bespoke builds for creators.
He's one that built Tifu's $3,500 keyboard forum,
and he's been, like, streaming these for the past few years.
And, yeah, the keyboard community is just insane.
There's always going to be people, you know,
trying to push that even more to make really cool custom keyboards,
whether it's different key caps.
People are making their own custom switches.
It's just always, always evolving.
And there's so much that goes into keyboards that people even, like,
think about unless you were really starting to dive into it.
It definitely gets pricey.
I could say that.
But there's just something about keyboards that I don't know.
I love.
Yeah, I was just watching Christopher's video yesterday about like why keyboards are the
worst hobby in the world.
He got a lot of crap for that video.
Which is actually,
no, it's true.
It's not, it's not, it's not true.
Like every single person I've heard he builds keyboards is like, I'm like $800 in the
hole on this one keyboard.
I'm like, bro.
What?
Yeah, I like keyboards and I have two fairly expensive keyboards.
You know, one in my home office and one of my regular office.
But I don't have any reason or desire.
As much as I love keyboards, like, why would I, in a million years, invest thousands of dollars into multiple keyboards that I can't use?
Like, it's just like for show.
It's like you're just basically something that you're never really going to use all the time.
To me, it's kind of weird, to be honest.
Honestly, you're 100% right.
Because out of all the keyboards I've built, I don't use any of them as, like, my main keyboard.
They are pretty much just like once they're done with the video, then they are.
Yeah, they're kind of for show afterwards and they kind of have.
But it's the same thing with people, you know, who like collect guitars and that kind of stuff.
That's true.
It could be sort of same for a lot of different hobbies.
But, yeah.
If your keyboard costs more than your computer, you're probably doing something wrong.
Yeah, I haven't hit that point yet.
Most of mine have been under around 700 at this point.
But they can go crazy, crazy expensive.
Because like I said, there's just so many different parts of a keyboard that there's just so much flexibility on in terms of upgrading and customizing.
I can go all day if you wanted to talk about it.
Let's do it.
I would say that for the, at the very least, you could sell these keyboards, right, and get some money.
back on them for the most part, right?
So that's like, so that kind of like,
offset's like the cost and the time that you've been,
you know,
that you'd be putting into it.
Yeah.
And that is the one thing that I think people gave Christopher
like the most crap on is like getting,
you know,
into the market to flip it.
Because, yeah,
first off,
not only are key caps unbelievably,
like limited because they're in group buys and they're just so hard to come
by because whatever you,
if you find a perfect key cap set that you want,
it's either not in stock right now because they're all sold out or it's an interest check phase that the group buys already over so there are people you know constantly looking for new keycaps and keyboards themselves like the actual unit at the company's produced are rarely ever in stock and once you do get them in you could flip them for like two three times the worth because they are so limited um but i would just rather instead of flipping them for the uptick i would just rather keep them for the not that not the nostalgic value but just like the sentimental mental
value of okay I built this I customized I put all this work into it but yeah related
question from bounce what are your favorite keyboard switches I think something about the
lubed cream novel key switches are very very nice um they're called novel keys cream
switches and the thing with most linear switches is you could take them apart
and apply a lubricant to them.
And then once you put them all together,
it completely changes up how they feel.
They're just a lot more smooth.
So there's a whole aspect of customizing your switches
and all that stuff.
So I love those for lineers.
And for clickies,
I'm a big fan of the box jade switches.
They're very loud and clicky.
Even though I prefer linear,
it's just like the complete opposite.
There's something very satisfying
about a super clicky switch.
Yeah,
I just took a really, really small dive, and because it works social, and I needed to do numbers every now and then.
I need to type numbers in.
And I just started playing, what game, GTFO, which requires you to type into a command prompt.
So, like, I didn't want to go with, like, a 60% or anything like that, but I recently picked up.
And this is, like, really basic, like, baby steps to GMMK with box whites and the pudding cap switches.
And they're nice.
I like it.
You know, it was, like, 150, 100,000.
60 bucks with everything including like the the what do you call it the o rings and okay I felt good
I don't I don't I don't feel like I have a need to build anything else but then I see some
these keyboards and I'm like this is pretty nice yeah you never have a need to upgrade until you
see or try out like a bespoke custom keyboard and then it's like oh god like now I'm into this
yeah it's the thing I want with cherry red switches
Let's see, okay.
Next up is
Braden.
What is your favorite N60 product?
I'm pretty sure we've answered this question
every single podcast.
The Doco is my favorite N60 product.
Director wants to know
what cameras do you use for YouTube.
I think Frank was saying he uses a
Black Magic.
The Black Magic Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K is my main.
And I also have the
Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera
6K as like a B cam.
someone google that
have you know what this man just said right now
I think I'm cursed
so we'll say
uh
tragically snafi wants to know
if you could talk about any subject
not related to tech what would it be
probably sports
I'm a big sports guy
you know what's funny that you're an Eagles fan is
I'm a Raiders fan
and Raider fans they have like
his reputation of being like
you know rowdy and all this stuff and every time
someone tells me that I'm like do you not know about the Philadelphia Eagles they have they have like
the craziest fans I went to a raider Eagles game in Oakland a long time ago that wasn't a seven
touchdown game was it with Nick Fools no no no okay this is like maybe like 15 years ago now okay
but I remember like there was like thousands of Philadelphia fans that went over there and you know
most of the time, like, people don't mess at Raider fans.
And these guys were, like, throwing beers and chugging boxes at people.
It was, like, nuts.
And I think even, I don't know, they still do it, but I think, I think the Eagles are the only NFL team that has a prison in their stadium.
Like, underneath the football.
What?
No.
So they used to have a prison in their old stadium about 20 years ago.
That was a thing where, like, if you were, like, if you were, like, drop.
and starting fights at games that are just throwing you out.
They just throw you in prison until the game is over.
It's not like you actually just go to jail then.
It's just kind of like a holding thing underneath the stadium
for you just to calm down and relax until after the game.
They have a judge down there and everything.
Yeah, yeah.
I do like the Eagles.
Can you sing us the Philadelphia Eagles fight song?
I can't.
I can't.
I won't.
But one thing I will say is I've been to a lot of Eagles games.
And I do feel like a lot of Eagles.
of the hate that Eagles fans get is a lot of just like media hype and stuff, you know.
Out of all the games I've been to, there's definitely been some fights,
but it's always been because of like someone on the opposing,
like an opposing team's jerseys, like causing problems and stuff.
And I looked up a few years ago, but believe it or not,
they have like one of the lowest, like, fan arrest numbers and like stuff like that.
So there's a lot more teams out there with fans that are getting arrested.
and there's like stabbing
and stadiums and stuff a lot.
I know Dallas has a lot of stabbing every year
for whatever reason, but that's, yeah.
How about baseball?
Are you big baseball guy?
I'm not.
I am not a big baseball or hockey guy.
Sorry, Andy.
Sorry, Andy.
Speaking of Andy, I actually just heard back, Frank.
He said that he has your poochie for you,
but you have to sing the Philadelphia Eagles Pite song.
Oh, my God.
Or you can't get your flush.
I think I'm going to forego it then
because I am just not a person who's saying,
or is like lively like that. I apologize.
But even like it's definitely a cool song, but even at the games when there's 68,000 other people singing it after a touch stand, I'll just be like, you know, just going not in my head with it, but I just, I don't know, I'm just not much of a
a lively singer type guy.
Let me, okay, I've never heard this song. Let me, let me pull it up real quick. See what we could do here.
Let's go.
And so after every touchdown,
everyone sings that song.
Interesting.
It's like an old school song too.
Yeah, it's, I think, from the 60s maybe.
Maybe a little bit later than that.
It's much better than the Raiders.
The Raiders fight song is actually a poem called The Autumn Wind.
It's really a guy reading a poem going,
The Autumn Wind is a Raider.
And it's actually the,
The kind that says the poem is, like, the famous NFL voice guy.
Get his name, though.
Oh, like, the NFL films, dude, with, like, the really deep.
Yeah.
The name is his name, I think?
I don't know.
I don't know his name.
I'm trying to find if there's, like, a Eagles fight song, trap remix I could play,
but I'm afraid to click on any of these because I don't want to, like, want to break.
Yeah, I'm not going to miss it that.
I'm scared of whatever that is.
The image worried me.
I don't want to get heated off a church for a stay back.
All right.
Former moderator Rat King wants to know.
Favorite kind of cereal?
I'm a big honey-nut Cheerios guy.
Really?
I could eat those.
Yeah, mixing some bananas and I'll be set.
I'm a big honey bunches with banana guy.
There you go.
Honey bunches with almond.
Nice, yeah.
I'm a great man myself.
Really?
God, dude.
What are you?
So.
Favorites are good, man.
Not they ever had them, actually.
No, they're not good.
Sorry, I disagree.
Error wants to know favorite clothing brand.
I really don't know.
I'm trying to think.
Like, I know I have a lot of Hurley stuff.
Hurley and Adidas maybe is probably like the one company that I have the most of.
I don't put a lot of thought into my outfit.
I'll just be like, okay, I'll wear this today and go on cam.
I have like a mix of lots of whites,
grays, blues, and blacks,
and that's kind of the range there.
I need to go clothes shopping.
My wife keeps telling me, like,
can you just go to the store and buy some clothes?
She's tired of wearing like the same outfit like every other day.
I rarely go out and buy anything.
My wife does pretty much all my shopping for the clothes and stuff.
She's charged my wardrobe.
Yeah, I hate shocking.
CNP wants to know, or CMPI, my bad.
How did you come up with your logo, Frank?
So I was a junior in college, and I have a minor in graphic art and stuff because for PR,
I kind of wanted that to go hand in hand or I can do like press releases and design stuff for clients.
Right.
And one of our projects was to create, I think it was create a logo.
Okay, I was assigned to create a logo for an energy drink company called After Hours.
And I was very big into like designing stuff with negative space, which is what the Randolph-P logo is.
So you see, you have the black R and then the F is in the middle between the R and the P.
Right.
Then you have the P at the end.
So that's negative space.
and I designed a company
the logo for the company
After H, and it used negative space
to create the AH with like a clock and stuff
and this was kind of like when I was
I was still doing gaming videos at this time
but
sorry
but everybody back in the day
I know a lot of stuff like now
everyone's YouTube name is their actual name
with a picture of themselves
but early YouTube everyone had a nickname
and a really cool logo for their channel
so after some trial in there
I designed that.
I was very happy with it.
And I kept that with the random Frank P name.
And really haven't changed it since because I like the logo too much.
And I have like, I don't know, just a bunch of stuff with the logo on it.
So I don't want to change it.
Just 41 seconds left in the giveaway, guys.
Yeah, I know.
I'm watching it right now to see who is the winner.
Watch I win.
I just click it right now and I take it.
Oh, Frank.
They reviews it.
Have you gone a chance to review the new Krakins, Frank?
What is that?
Have you gotten a chance to review the new Krakins?
I haven't.
I have the one with the display in downstairs,
and I'm going to be updating my rig, probably in the next month,
but I'll be using that for my AIO for sure.
All right.
All right, congratulations to Bitburns on winning the Krakken X-63.
Please message Poppy with your information, and he'll get that out to you.
I don't know how long it will take.
It'll probably bug Andy after that too.
All right, cool.
Next, what do you want, Siri?
Go away.
I did see Alan and chat before ask if I could still land a kickflip today.
The answer to that is definitely no.
How deep were you into skating, by the way?
So I probably skated consistently for five, six years with my best friend growing up.
We never proceeded to get better.
but it was always fun just to go outside and every weekend just skate for hours on end
and that was also like I said before a big part of our videos and stuff was like well like skate films
but I never got better never improved and I after not skating for a long time I recently bought a
skateboard and I wanted to get back into it but it's just like oh okay I'm almost 30 and I am not
what I was back when I was you know a teenager so I can't do these things like I thought I could
But if I put more work into it, you know, it'll maybe get better with that.
I'm almost 40 and I still skate and I actually started skating more during the quarantine.
I have a two and a half year old daughter and I've been teaching her and I'm the same.
My only trick now is just not falling off basically.
Yeah, I always have the urge to get back into it.
It's fun. It's really fun.
Yeah.
Also, I think it's an underrated.
exercise to be honest. Yeah, yeah, definitely. My glutes are on fire right now, Dennis. Good to know.
My skating career, I believe, was shut down by God. And I'll tell you why it's a little of a story, right? So when I was a kid, my mom and my dad owned a video rental store, right? So for those who don't know, he used to go to a store and rent a physical movie on physical media and take it home and then bring it back or else you'd
pay like a giant fee for not bringing it back.
It's a lot of people, you know, didn't steal.
And I would spend a lot of time there.
So one day, my uncle gave me a skateboard.
Say, hey, I know you're bored, you know, chilling in the store all day.
You know, a child of immigrant.
You know, you basically go to work with your parents all day and say, hey, you have
a skateboard.
I'm like, sure, cool.
So, you know, I started skating in front of the store here and there.
And this kid is like, hey, do you mind if I borrow your skateboard.
I'm going to do a trick on it.
I'm like, sure, you know?
I'm just starting, you know, we'll have to see.
someone do a trick. Kid does a kickflip,
board flies out from under him, flies into the street,
and gets ran over by a car. And to me, I'm like, yeah, no. I'm like, I'm done.
Man.
Somebody does not want me to skate. I don't know what his name or her name is.
I'm not even going to, I'm not going to bother.
And that was it. I never touched a skateboard again.
I have some breaking news.
Yes.
Justin, who's on vacation, he just, he just, uh, message me and he says,
tell Frank that he wants to do a video of him upgrading to the Z.
I'll give him a cracking Z.
I'm like, all right.
Cool.
So there you go.
There you go.
I'm not sure which one I have, but I'll let you guys know if I did need one.
Free crack and z's.
All you got to do is hop on the podcast and talk for an hour and 40 minutes.
He also, he also missed me a picture.
He just finished his first custom keyboard yesterday with novel key.
With novel key creams.
I'm going to post a picture of it because it came.
Oh, nice.
Really, really slick.
Yeah.
Yeah, so I saw that.
He posted that at 1am today.
So this guy's like on vacation for a week and he's like,
hey guys, by the way, it's one of the morning.
I just finished my first keyboard.
That's awesome.
Yeah, I know it's great.
We have a lot of people in the company who just love talking about keyboards.
It's becoming a thing now.
And nice.
Yeah, it's exploding.
All right.
Hunter wants to know, would you consider making a game?
gaming channel or guess would you consider making a return to making gaming content um i get that a lot
really because yeah i do because i'm in most of my reviews in order to like you know test a product
or to show it off properly for b-roll like i have to use it with gaming uh so and i still play a lot
of battlefield even though like i despise the game in its current state i still play all the time
um but yeah i always got a lot of people asking if i would do gaming content and like i'll do a very
rare one-off live stream every now and then where I am like gaming and stuff for a few hours.
And I've thought about doing a second channel, but it's just a lot of extra work on top of what I
already have and I don't have a lot of free time as it is.
Do you find streaming to be easier or harder than producing like video content?
I think it's probably easier just because it's there's not as much setup involved.
and just the final production.
Because like I said, I could put easily 10 to 40 hours into a single video
only for people to watch, you know, 10% of it
and then just like call me a name of the comments and peace out.
Whereas on Twitch, you know, I could just say,
I can take a chill, set up a light or two, put up a webcam,
doesn't have to be the best and just game and chat with everybody.
So I feel like it's a lot more, it's more personal that way
because you can have that one-on-one interaction,
which I do like, and that's why I do like streaming.
but yeah so i think it would be easier on that sense i could see you on ticot to be honest
really see i again like for whatever reason i just do not understand ticot like i got vine
i was big into vime but i just don't get ticot i i didn't understand ticot either when
when it was like people i guess so i think when ticot first came out people were just dancing on
there yeah yeah it was just what it is now it's not like that at all like now like
Now there's people doing like tech reviews.
Is it?
Doing like social commentary on there.
Like people are kind of turning into like a mini YouTube, right?
Huh.
It's pretty cool.
Yeah.
A couple of YouTubers take their videos and make little clips of it.
There you go.
You're welcome to the idea.
Yeah.
It's not a bad idea.
Yeah, there was.
Frank Channel on TikTok.
Yeah.
And the algorithm on TikTok is,
actually pretty strong. Like, like, it'll put you into groups and, like, depending on the
stuff that you like, and the things you're commenting on, like, you'll eventually get thrown
into, like, a group. And right now, I'm on, uh, millennial, Hispanic, Weeb, tech, uh, woke
TikTok. It's, it's, it's, it's like the weirdest combination of, like, content that comes in,
but it's really great.
Oh, my. I watch a, tequacha tic tox.
No kemaka.
No, kemaka.
I feel like the quacha TikTok is basically like trucks burning out
I don't know why it's literally like the algorithm just said oh
food's from Texas with the Edgar haircut right food's gone wild
it's literally all my all my TikTok is that just trucks burning out in circles
but I like it it's fun
okay bringing it back here Captain Batpool wants to know in your opinion
do you think Android or iOS is overall better for the quote unquote average person
For the average person, I guess iOS, because it's just a lot more user-friendly and just straight in your face.
Like, okay, very simple design.
This is here.
I know like a lot of older folks also use a lot of the older iPhones because they're more like user-friendly in that sense.
But that's also coming from somebody who's rarely ever checked out any Android stuff.
But just from what I see from the user face and user experience, you obviously have a lot more flexibility to customize Android phones.
But in terms of just being user-friendly, I think iPhone.
You have you here, folks.
I won't get an iPhone.
Ndixie Jin, our creative director, wants to know.
What would a world populated by clones of Frank be like?
Well, the world would be pretty deserted because I'm definitely a homebody as it is, even before quarantine.
Like, I just home all the time.
I don't like go out that much if I don't have to.
So, yeah, I'm a big, I like to sleep in.
you know, drink coffee until late in the afternoon to kind of get myself up and going.
So the world of all me would just be a lot of empty roads.
Just chilling all day.
I was going to ask you, too, like what the quarantine stuff.
Do you think it had a positive impact on YouTube?
Yeah, I mean, as obviously negative as the whole quarantine has been just for everyone in the world and the environment.
I guess the quarantine is good for the environment because I know like the
The emissions have gone down a lot.
But this is the state of COVID.
It's been obviously terrible.
But yeah, with everybody home during this time, YouTube has definitely had an increase.
I know my channel has seen about a 20% boost, usually from around April, April to March.
I'm sorry, April to May are usually like one of the two worst years, the two worst months out of the years.
Because that's when the weather starts getting nice.
You know, people are outside more.
They're not on YouTube.
So historically, we've always been pretty bad months for views.
But this year, they've been all-time highs.
So, yeah, I feel like it's definitely been good in that front.
Everyone's just home on YouTube.
Yeah, I think we're going to start seeing a lot more people creating content online, to be honest.
Especially, you know, like you said, more people at home now and just not bored,
but I think that's just the way people are going to be just kind of communicating with each other, you know.
It's just like the new normal.
Yeah.
And if anything, it's good in the sense that, you know, it kind of proves that you don't need to go to an office, you know, for how many hours a day, every single day during the week to do a job that you can do from home.
I know I've had, like, a lot of meetings and, like, doctor appointments and stuff that I would have usually had to have gone in the office for five, ten minutes.
But I can just do it over Zoom or something like that real quick.
So it's cool on that front.
Can't complain.
Goodness, so I had to go to the office today.
Yep, I'm in the office right now, actually.
Yeah, I'm trying to ask the bosses for a bigger house,
so I can have another room just for the podcast.
Former moderator, Rack King wants to know.
What was your favorite part of sports journalism?
I guess the freedom to just get my thoughts out
and that the fact that there would be viewers,
not viewers, but like readers.
I could put out an article,
and it would get seen by a lot of people.
So I don't know if you guys are familiar with Bleacher Report.
So before they were, I believe, bought out by Fox in like 2011,
before they really took off, I was a feature columnist, like I said, for the Eagles.
And that gave me really cool career opportunities at a very young age to, like, you know,
write for them pretty much on that site.
Not full time because they weren't like paying people back then when they first got bought out and stuff.
But it was cool because I got to go to, you know,
training camps and meet the players, do one-on-one interviews with them.
And at the time, I was like 18 or 19.
I'm this young kid surrounded by like Philly Media, like writers who've been doing this
for 30, 40, 50 years, guys like that I've been reading and stuff that have been doing
this their whole life.
And just like little me, you know, just watching training camp five feet away from the
players that I idolize and that I watch on TV.
So that was definitely, definitely cool.
Who makes the best cheese steak, by the way?
Best cheese steak in Philly.
My favorite is Sunnis.
I know everyone, I can't even really remember.
What are the two big names?
I don't know, but I know every single person I ever met from Philadelphia
has a different answer on this.
Yeah, there are two big names in Philly that, for whatever reason,
people talk about because it's the big tourist attraction.
I can tell you right now,
someone knows they want to throw it up in chat.
They, from what I tried, are not good.
My favorite Sonny's.
Woodrow's is also very good.
But yeah, everyone's going to have a different answer.
All right.
I'm going to try to see other questions we have here.
Catch you wants to know.
What games do you play, Frank?
I pretty much only play Battlefield 5 right now.
That's the one I play most frequently.
Yeah, even though like I hate the game right now, like it's EA and Dice have just done so much bad with it over the last year or so.
There's hackers and stuff all the time.
But I do play that pretty frequently.
But I've also been really big on Session and Skater XL, which I like the two kind of alternative skateboarding games right now.
And since there's been a lack of skating games ever since Skate 3, you know, 10 years ago,
they've definitely helped fill the void recently
and I know Skater XL just got a full
1.0 release like two days ago
so those are definitely some interesting
alternatives people want to
you know play a skateboarding game
I've been hooked on them
I've been playing the beta for over a year
are you fun
are you excited for the remake
of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2
yeah that'll definitely be cool
the controls I'm still like
I know that's what we grew up on
with the Tony Hawk controls
where it's a lot easier
I'm gonna try to enjoy that
But even with skate
The skate controls are a little bit better
But Session and Skater Xcel have like very realistic controls
That are completely different
Where each foot is a different thumbstick
And you turn with the triggers
So it's a lot more intuitive
And it works exactly like you would
Like be skating in real life
So going back to those easier controls
Will be interesting
But it'll be fun just to revisit those games
And like you know the
The re-envisioned levels
and the 2020 graphics and stuff,
so that'll definitely be cool.
And the music, right?
Have you seen Skate Bird?
Skatebird?
Yeah.
Oh, man, I haven't.
Skater.
Skater's awesome.
I pull this up.
You should link Skate Bird for him.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, man.
It's not out yet.
But I'm looking forward to his game so much.
Yeah, that'll be something.
It's silly birds on a skateboard.
Like, what more could you want?
I love the logo, too.
It's like a thrasher logo.
I really miss like old skater brands.
Like I feel like they don't exist anymore.
And it maybe feels like I'm so far away like just far removed from like the culture now
because like that like when I was growing up skating was such a huge thing.
Like everyone skatered like everyone was talking about skating.
Like Tony Hawk was a thing and the games are coming out.
It was nuts.
I don't go outside anymore.
Yeah.
That's you too.
Right.
We're all playing skate as opposed to skating outside.
Kids these days.
Hey man, Pac Sun was the store to go to.
Everyone was wearing like DC element, all that kind of stuff.
Yeah, you don't see it too much now.
No.
I remember.
You still have early.
Yeah, yeah, I still even have a few element shirts and DC stuff that I'll wear every now.
I remember when it saw my first hookups board and I was like, what is that?
They still make crazy design.
Yeah, the do.
Yeah, the hookups brand.
is still doing stuff and then the guy who designed
like the hookups look
is still doing stuff and I remember
seeing it and I'm like that looks like anime but it's not
anime but it's kind of anime I don't know what to make
of this thing it's so weird like why
why is I grown naked on the skateboard
it's so weird
I just want to hear
Goldfinger again
Death Ridge wants to know do you have a pick of your first setup
oh I don't think I do
um we're talking about during a meeting actually
Ivan. First set-up picks?
I don't have a picture of mine.
But...
Johnny does.
A few weeks ago, I
did a reaction to my
first set-up video.
So that's kind of relevant.
I actually kind of want to check that out now.
I'll put them on the list.
Rat King wants to know, why is Carson
Wentz underrated?
Ah, man.
Carson also again just being a part of the Philly media
he gets a lot of hate as well
he's under that narrative that he's always hurt
he's been hurt for two
happened twice out of four years like come on
he'll hope for everyone wrong
there was a reason why the 2017 year
we won the Super Bowl he was the number
three rated player in the NFL
in his second year in the league so he'll bounce back
just got to stay on the field
that's how you know Frank's a real sports fan
because he said we won the Super Bowl
Yes, yes
I bleed
I bleed at midnight green
Who is your favorite
YouTuber besides yourself?
I probably have to go with
MKBHD because every video is just so clean
and polished and just
chill, it's all natural
I definitely
And again for him being one of the few channels
that I watched from the early beginning
back when he was also like in his college dorm room
Yeah, he's evolved so much.
And yeah, great, great person as well.
What I like about him is he's a really good ultimate frisbee player.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Funny thing about that, too, is last year, my wife and I went to the Eagles and Seahawks game.
And at halftime, his team came out, and they played for about like 20 minutes during halftime.
Nice.
Huh.
That's really cool.
Yeah.
I heard him on the Joe Rogan podcast talking about that.
and I looked him up and I was like, man, this guy could, he could fly.
Yeah.
He can jump. He's got a vertical.
Yeah.
Really athletic.
Okay.
Deathridge also wants to know.
Have you gotten your stickers yet, Frank?
Have they gotten my stickers?
Yeah, N-60 stickers.
Oh, I don't think so.
Andy, get on it, dude.
Give him the whole setup.
Andy's sleeping.
Gear him up.
Rat King also wants to know.
Do you enjoy other sports besides football?
Um, I watched basketball before, obviously, the quarantine and stuff.
Um, I could definitely say that football is like my number one by far.
American football or real football?
American football, yeah.
Sorry.
I had to throw that one out there.
Yeah, NFL.
Hand egg.
Hand egg, yeah.
Um, okay, let's see here.
Some other good questions before I start going to community stuff.
Racking also.
Racking here.
hitting it good. When did you realize you had to behave as a brand rather than just an individual?
That's a good question. Deep ones. Yeah, man, I think I just kind of made that natural shift
when I started doing it full time because just having that background in PR, I knew the
professional sense that I needed to have in a way when it comes to communicating with not only the
companies, but then portraying how I want to be represented out there. So I know like obviously
starting out, I couldn't be like, you know, throwing the F-bomb out there every other word like some people do.
Because that wouldn't get me taken seriously necessarily.
But, yeah, I mean, I feel like I also like watching videos that are more professional when it comes to tech reviews.
Obviously, there's a time and a place for, you know, just off the wall stuff.
But for just like getting my opinions out on tech, I can, you know, be chill, I can be me and keep it professional.
here's a funny question I actually have about keeping a professional how do you balance like doing a review with say like let's say you like a company you like the people who work there but they bring out a product and it's just like not hitting for you it's not good how do you balance that relationship and how do you balance that criticism um well I mean that's that's up to the company then to I guess decide whether they want to continue you know sending stuff out for free because I have always been 100% honest with my reviews and it's funny because it's funny because
Because the one that I can think off the top of my head that I still get crap for today is last year with the Logitech G933 or G935, they re-released their Artemis Spectrum headset that I just did not like.
Like when it first came out and last year they released another version of it and they didn't change anything that I hated from the first version.
So like I trashed it in my review because at the end of the day, my channel is a review of my opinions.
I'm not just like, you know, reading a spec sheet that you guys can find somewhere online.
And that's it.
Like, I'm going to tell you how I personally feel about it.
And I didn't like it.
I trashed it in the review.
And people all the time, they still look for reviews.
They'll comment on that.
And be like, why are you just trash it on Logite?
It's a great headset.
I just didn't like it.
So, yeah, I don't ever worry about whether the company is going to, you know, appreciate
that or not because at the end of the day, they're sending it to me for my opinion.
But a lot of the times, you know, if they're professional as well,
they're going to take it as like, yeah, it's just my feedback on to the next one, you know?
All right.
I think that's all we have here.
All we have time for.
Ivan, do you have anything else we want to ask, Frank, before we go ahead and start closing this out?
When this whole quarantine thing is over, will you come visit us at the office?
I do have an urge to, first of all, I've never been to California, so I definitely want to make it out there one day.
I have an urge just to go somewhere nice for a bit after being, you know.
I think everybody does.
Here for a while.
Everybody does, yeah.
Come over and we'll skate for it and go skate and grab some children of two sticks.
Yeah.
Sounds like a plan.
And catch your Raiders game right in Vegas.
That's just so weird.
Can I ask that real quick?
How do you feel about the Raiders moving to Vegas?
I hate it.
I love it.
I think it's dumb.
It's awesome.
What the heck of the Raiders have to do?
With Raiders.
The thing about the Raiders, if you look at their logo, it never said Oakland.
I never said Los Angeles.
It always said Raiders.
Because the Raiders, their whole thing is it's from L.A. to the Bay and like all over the USA.
So they're basically like Raider Nation is not just one city.
And for me, it's awesome.
I'd rather I'd rather drive to Las Vegas and watch the football game inside of Oakland.
And Las Vegas is also like the gambling capital of the world.
So to me, it makes sense.
I think it's awesome.
I was actually really excited for this season.
I was going to watch the Raiders.
So many things are missing out on.
After the next year.
What a dang shame.
Yeah, I think it's, I think more teams should go to Vegas, to be honest.
Like, their hockey team is pretty popular.
They should get a baseball team down there, basketball team.
It makes sense.
Everyone's out there gambling on sports.
Why not?
That's true, yeah.
You go to any casino and it's like that,
There's the nice part and there's like
Everyone sitting in the chairs
Staring out the big screens right
Just watching all the all the games
You said a no no word
Oh my bad
I didn't remember what it said
Time it time it quick
Okay so before we ended up here
A couple of quick announcements
So number one
Congratulations to everyone here for you know
One year of N60 Clubcast
Super excited
You know, it's like the first brick project that I worked on when I started here.
So I'm kind of, you know, very happy and proud to see where it's come.
And maybe we'll, you know, we'll start doing some more cool stuff with the stream and whatnot.
And then let's see.
Next, setup of the week is Mr. Trev.
Congratulations to him for winning his super cool NXT, a purple NZXT shirt that Frank will get once he visits the office.
That's where they're held.
If you want that shirt, you have to come through.
And I believe we have a tie this week for the wallpaper of the week.
If I'm right on this one, I'm sure people will start adding me from wrong on it.
But it's Prodigy, aka Prodigy, and Luke.
Luda Wook, Champion of K-pop.
Luke 7G, I don't know how to pronounce his name.
So send me a DM, and I'll get you guys your stuff.
Congrats on the cool white paper.
I really like the
They're both good
But I actually really like Prodigies a little bit more
Because it has the like
The map of like the Los Angeles
Southern California area
Which is really really cool with the N60 logo on it
It's pretty dope
I'll post it in the podcast channel right now
We do record this podcast live
So
You can't blame me
There you go
Looks your really dope
Other than that
We do have
So Ivan do want to do a couple of special
I think we have some other stuff to to yeah so because it's our one-year
