Starting point is 00:00:00 We go and one and two and three. What the heck are you doing, Dennis? Can't hear it? I don't hear anything. You hear anything. How are you not hear anything? Oh, you know what it is? I hear nothing.
Starting point is 00:00:40 It's because Slack is a wonky. Not slack. Everyone else can hear it fine, I believe. Yeah, true. I want to listen to the whole thing, do you mean, honest. I don't really want to start the podcast anymore. This is such a good song.
Starting point is 00:01:23 Hello everyone and welcome to episode 79 of the NZC Clubcast, the official podcast of the NXT community. This podcast is recorded live every Thursday at 10 a.m. Pacific Standard time in the official NZXT Discord server and is available to stream on demand on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and SoundCloud. So don't forget about this podcast when you're cruising down the street and your 6'4. My name is Dennis and with me as always is Ivan. Hello Honk Honk Honk
Starting point is 00:01:58 Honk Good morning Good morning How are you doing Doing great man I'm doing great too I changed up my breakfast today Oh yeah
Starting point is 00:02:09 What's for breakfast today Well since the pandemic Started a year ago It's been about a year now Oh my god it's been a year This last March I have made myself The same exact breakfast
Starting point is 00:02:23 every single day until today. And my breakfast is an omelet with some avocado toast. And yesterday my wife, she's like, are you tired of eating the same exact breakfast every single day? Like you've been eating that for a whole year. And I thought about it, I'm like, man, she was right. I got to mix it up. So today I had oatmeal.
Starting point is 00:02:46 So I definitely feel different. I don't know if I like it yet. But so far, I think it's. it's a good different but I'll find out yeah pretty much um yeah I I know you would you would tell me like in the past about your birthquist endeavors and you're like yeah I I eat it almost every single morning and I'm like how they how can you eat something so often I literally could not I'd rather eat dirt like if there was no other option I would just put dirt in my mouth I'm a I don't I'm a creature of habit man like everything in my life like everything in my
Starting point is 00:03:24 life, it's literally just like a habit. I don't even think about it. It's just like, oh, it's seven o'clock. Time for me to make my omelet. Oh, my God. I have my routine planned out pretty good, actually. Uh-huh. If you want to hear it, I guess.
Starting point is 00:03:49 No, yeah, no, yeah. I'm waiting for it, yeah. I'm waiting for it. I wake up at six. I make my coffee and then once my coffee is ready well while my coffee is brewing
Starting point is 00:04:02 that's like when I'm usually just like checking TikTok or Twitter or just you know just see what's popping on on social media for the day sometimes I'm at what my coffee is brewing and then once it's done
Starting point is 00:04:16 Reddit yeah once my coffee's done I pop open a book and I sit in a rocking chair and I read for a lot like 30 minutes drinking my coffee. That's some old man stuff. And then at seven, I hop on my, on my rowing machine.
Starting point is 00:04:37 And I row for 15 minutes. And then from 7.15 to 7.30, I'm swinging my kettlebell around. I do 100 kettlebell swings, Dennis, after my 15 minute rowing machine. Why do you say my name like that, Dennis? 100 kettleball swings, Dennis. Okay. So aggressive. I'm speaking to you, Dennis.
Starting point is 00:05:03 So I... Hold on. Then at 7.30. Okay, okay. At 7.30, that is when I'm making my breakfast. And during this time, this is usually when my daughter is like, you know, first waking up and running around the house and stuff like that. Yeah. And then
Starting point is 00:05:24 So I get my breakfast, play with her for a little bit And then at 8 o'clock, hop in the shower And then 8.30, when I usually sit down, I start working. Right. And then I sit here in this room until like 5 o'clock or so. Yeah. Oh, this is the whole day, right? Okay, keep going.
Starting point is 00:05:46 And I get out of this room and I chase a toddler around until around seven. Uh-huh. She takes her bath. And then I go in bed like around 9 o'clock and do it all over every single day. Oh, geez. And that's the routine, Dennis.
Starting point is 00:06:04 That sounds too structured for my brain. Yeah, I can't. Obviously there's other stuff that goes on in my life besides that. But like that's literally like no matter what's happening in my life, like all those things have to happen. Like we just, that's just how it is. It's kind of weird. Yeah, my, my schedule definitely varies quite a bit.
Starting point is 00:06:26 Like, whether I get up or not, depends on, like, the dogs in the house. Like, whether they want to go for a walk or not to use the restroom. But I'm definitely getting up a lot earlier now. And actually, to be honest, I don't mind getting up as early anymore. I used to really hate it. And, like, the only reason why I didn't is because there wasn't a reason for me to. But now there's, like, a reason for me to actually, you know, get up because there's, like, a animal that depends on me.
Starting point is 00:06:53 It's, you know, like it's, it's going to look a nice start to the day, right? It's like I get up, take them out. I put my brand new Sony XM4 wireless headphones on, right? Listen to a podcast, social music, and just chill outside for a bit and get some air. It's actually kind of relaxing. And you chase possums? Yeah, chase possums, dude. You have so many possums here.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Like, I don't know if it's just like I never noticed them being around. But like all of a sudden, I just, I swear. I see possums everywhere. And I don't know if it's like because of the pandemic where they're like, you know, it's safe. You know, they're not getting rent over by as many cars because, you know, more people are staying home or something. But like there's a lot everywhere.
Starting point is 00:07:33 I'm going to post the picture that you shared with me yesterday. You posted the podcast channel. You kind of saw a possum when you were going on a walk. Yeah. What was interesting about this picture to me is not the possum. It's the fact that your neighbor has a trash cat on the roof. I'm like, where does it? Where the heck are you, man?
Starting point is 00:07:53 Like, your neighbor has a trash can on the roof. Like, no wonder you have possums all over the place, man. It's disgusting. The houses in his area are an unincorporated area of Bannerheim, California. So we don't belong to any part of the city. And because of it, I think, like, the zoning codes are different. And a lot of the houses here have these, like, indoor patios. My parents just called the closed patio.
Starting point is 00:08:15 I don't know that's what they actually called. But that's just, like, what they've always called it, a close patio, right? and they're they're they're they're they're really low to the ground there may be like see i'm like five five eight on a good day you'd probably be able to reach it like without even like jumping like it's it's it's that low so i don't know why they put the trash can up on there that's a really like an explanation for that but they do uh we've never put trash cans up on there i know it's like a normal thing but that's what they do yeah um that's funny yeah the glad to hear that you have a a decent routine that's working out.
Starting point is 00:08:51 So you said that you made omelet. Did you tell me what you made instead? Because I might have missed it. Oatmeal. Oatmeal. With half a banana. Half a banana. That's it?
Starting point is 00:09:00 Like inside the oatmeal or? Inside the oatmeal mixed up. Okay. Okay. Yeah. I'm trying to lose some weight here. Good luck. Like I actually, I got really, really chunky last year, 20, with.
Starting point is 00:09:16 And so I've been working out. Like, I haven't missed a workout. Yeah. Well, actually, that's a lie. I've probably missed, like, two or three workouts since, I think, Christmas Eve is, like, when I started working out. How dare you. And I've lost 15 pounds since then. But I need to lose, like, another 15, I think, before I actually, like, start feeling good.
Starting point is 00:09:37 I still feel, I really, like, like, dude, I feel chudby, like, I bend down to tie my shoe lace and I'm out of breath still. I'm like, why is this so hard? you know but I think it's because I'm almost 40 man definitely feeling old like I was looking in the looking in the mirror today I'm like man like my hair is like all white I think the next time you see me Dennis I'm going to have like a full head of white hair yeah I haven't really seen you up close in like a while even now like when I get my haircut um like when I look down on the floor like it's all white and I asked my barber the other day I'm like Man, whose hair is this?
Starting point is 00:10:19 It's like definitely my body's changing, Dennis. I feel funny. Well, you're about at that time, young man. Yeah. So my midlife crisis is about to hit. Uh-oh. What are you going to buy an expensive gaming computer every midlife crisis? You need to go full in on like VR.
Starting point is 00:10:41 I know. What am I going to? I probably should, should buy something for myself. I haven't buy anything for myself in a while That's what people do right Like when you have like a midlife crisis You try to like do things that like make you feel young Or like to kind of
Starting point is 00:10:56 I don't know that's actually like the reason why people do them But like that's kind of what people do right It's like they'll buy like a really expensive sports car Or you know Divorce their wife or something I don't know man I'll let you know I'm about to hit midlife So I'll keep you posted
Starting point is 00:11:12 I mean midlife is going to relative to how long You're going to live right So technically like you know You give you 15 and that could be midlife, depending on what happens, right? Or, like, 40 could be midlife if you lived 80 or 50 could be midlife, right? True. But the average life, I guess. I feel like, kind of assuming that you're going to live a little bit too long.
Starting point is 00:11:29 Well, I mean, the average lifestyle is like close to 80, right? Yeah. Yeah. So in the Twitch chat said, you should get a 3090 for midlife crisis. It's actually really good segue. because we wanted to do some topics for the show, but not like news topics, like just kind of really interesting,
Starting point is 00:11:53 like think pieces that we can look at a talk on. And the first one actually is about computer issues, sort of. So the question is, Ivan, when is it time to upgrade, replace, or fix something? And the reason why you ask this is because you've been having consistent issues with your microphone in meetings since like the pandemic started, right?
Starting point is 00:12:13 Because like you never really had to be at home with like your with like your computer and stuff right and like you always have to restart your PC or like unplug one thing or like I think you would tell me that like you have like three things that are plugged into USB and like sometimes like the microphone won't work or like the USB won't work or something right yeah well my computer that I have at home it's it's really old well it's not really old it's like from like the hardware is from like 20 2014. That's what you old.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Like 2013, 2014. But I built this computer when I, when I first started working at NZXT, and it's in my favorite case ever, which is the Manta. So for me, like the computer is almost kind of like a,
Starting point is 00:13:05 I don't know, has a special place at my heart, I guess you could say. So I don't, like, I don't care about having, like, the latest graphics card or,
Starting point is 00:13:13 I don't, I don't, about having like the newest CPU or anything like that it's just to me I just like how my computer looks it just looks cool so for that reason I like I have no plans on upgrading it and even though it does give me trouble from tiny times particularly in in uh zoom and Google hangouts or whatever the heck is called um I'm cool with it I don't I don't care like it it works fine for everything else and even for the video games I want to play. So for me, no reason to really upgrade, which is actually kind of funny because when when when people
Starting point is 00:13:58 find out like I work at NZT, like PC gamers, they always ask me like, oh, what are your specs? And when I tell them, like, they don't believe me. Like, we think I'm joking. But my specs are like, I'll post a screenshot of my specs. They didn't go into cam. But I've had people like laugh at me and they're like you're joking right i'm like no that's literally like what my computer is yeah it's old in it and i don't care man yeah but i just drop the specs there in the chat yeah i feel like everybody's computer has like these weird little quirks right that you just kind of either learn to live with or you like desperately try to fix you know um and like for me it used to be um i used to get like really bad micro stuttering when I would stream games or it was it was like I'll be
Starting point is 00:14:42 playing like destiny and then watching uh madman or something on like my other monitor right and then I'd be getting these really weird micros stutters and it it was almost like really consistent and I can never figure out what it was until like I did like a lot of research and it turns out it was because I had one monitor there was like 144 hertz and the other one was 60 hertz so the solution would have been just one don't watch something on the side right or two upgrade that other monitor so you can do what you want to do. And it's one of the things where it's like, do you have the money?
Starting point is 00:15:12 Is it worth it, right? Should I, should it upgrade this monitor? Do you just leave it alone? You just deal with the problem. It's one of those things where like, it's going to hard to decide when that point is. I personally feel, Ivan, that you are at that point to start replacing my computer.
Starting point is 00:15:26 At least, at least replace the components because you always tell me, oh, the mantis is so great. It's so versatile. I can fit a lot of stuff. Dude, even when we were back in the office, My office computer was definitely like the oldest one there, but tell me, was it also not the coolest one there? The coolest looking one, yeah, but you can replace the inside.
Starting point is 00:15:47 For me, I care more about the look of my computer than the way it performs, but that's just me. I know I know I'm definitely in the minority when it comes to that, but I rather have a cool looking computer on my desk that just, does what the basic things I need to do than having like the fastest graphics card ever invented and all that stuff like I don't I could care less about that stuff okay and I know it's weird because I work at NCXT but it's true that's how I feel okay hear me out hear me out you can keep the case and put new stuff inside of it and nobody would know the difference and only you will and it'll perform even better but think about that that's an option to now now that's a different topic.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Now I'm going to tell you the reason why I don't want to do that is because I'm lazy. I'm too lazy. I'm too lazy to take apart this computer and put new parts in there. It has nothing to do with the money. I could probably get all those parts for free. I actually have some, I haven't done any CPUs
Starting point is 00:17:02 and at the office that, that were sent to me recently. Okay. I could very easily, I could very easily, like, upgrade this computer, but I'm just lazy. How about this? And how about this? Take your computer, right?
Starting point is 00:17:16 Grab your parts. Go to anywhere in the warehouse and tell one of the leads there. Hi, my name is Ivan. I'm the community manager here. I need to upgrade my computer, but I don't want to lose the case. Can you assign someone to please upgrade this computer? And I'm pretty sure they'll probably want to do it for you. I don't trust those guys.
Starting point is 00:17:36 I trust them with my life I would trust one of our builders to literally perform surgery on me even if they've never done it by the way I went into the office yesterday yeah what did you do I think yesterday yesterday the day before
Starting point is 00:17:51 no I just dropped off a package but say I'm okay okay there's something different so so just real quickly before we talk about anything else these are Ivan specs for for those who don't know okay his CPU is a core i5 440. Okay, he has a GTX 970.
Starting point is 00:18:14 He has 16 gigabytes of Kingston DDR3 RAM. The, let me see, I'm trying to look at the clock speed. The clock speed on that CPU is 3,200 megahertz, right? I think mine's like got four or five, just stock. And he has one SSD, and I believe you have. have a regular hard drive in there as well or is it two SSDs in that computer? I have one SSD and then a one terabyte hard drive. My mechanical hard drive. Okay. So that's like what that's fourth gen I five run
Starting point is 00:18:48 gen 11 now or something right like like I'm sure might be time for an upgrade dude it might be time for an upgrade just saying. I don't know we'll see. I'll do it for you If you want to come down here and like hang out with the possums, I would love to build an amanta. I've never built an amanta before. So, you know. You don't deserve that honor, Dennis. I mean, I could.
Starting point is 00:19:20 I could easily do it. It's not about that. It's just a sentimental value for me. Let's see here. I see what people are saying here about upgrades. I don't know. I think the last time upgraded my computer, so I don't do incremental upgrades usually.
Starting point is 00:19:40 I usually is like upgrade the entire PC. And like I'll go all in with like, you know, the RAM of the board, CPU, all that stuff, GPU. I think the last time I upgraded was when I went from a 980 to a 2070 super, which is a pretty big jump considering like I think I got like I got my 970 or my 980. I'm trying to think the year, like 20, what, it was on launch. It was launch or something. Let me see.
Starting point is 00:20:09 When did the, when did the, when did. The 97, he came out in 2015. Is it 2015? Jesus. Yeah. So, I mean, four year, four years, yeah, four years isn't too bad, right? Because I think you upgrade like 2019. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:23 So four years isn't, isn't too bad to keep your, your stuff. I mean, it was still a good card. I just wasn't getting the performance that I was asking for in certain games. And, you know, like as you play newer game, you kind of, you know, the requirement goes up, right? Like, I, I like to maintain a really good quality of detail. My personal, like, benchmark for how I want my games to run is, like, 1080P 1440 Hertz.
Starting point is 00:20:50 If I can hit 144 FPS consistent without any drops on my monitor, have no problem. And you're the exact opposite of me, because I'm not gaming on my computer, man. Yeah. Like, if I was really gaming on my computer, then I would probably You can't even take a Zoom call though Exactly
Starting point is 00:21:09 Like I'm gonna restart your PC for a Zoom I rather just take this Zoom call On my phone if that's the case I don't know If I was like playing a bunch of games On my PC then for sure I would probably be like you And wanting all those fancy
Starting point is 00:21:24 fancy upgrades Yeah I was his fancy But I'm also lazy That's the other thing Yeah that's probably That's probably like the big bigger part of it, to be honest, right?
Starting point is 00:21:38 All right, Evan, the next question I have for you, next topic I want to come up to is, are you looking forward to any games right now? Any games you're looking forward to playing either on PC or even like on another system? Great question, Dennis. Yes. Thank you for asking that.
Starting point is 00:21:58 No, there are actually, not any new games though. Does that still count? Not any what? They're not new games, though, because you ask me, you ask me, are there any games I'm looking forward to playing? So my answer is yes, but I'm telling you that they're not new games. They're actually old games. Oh. I would probably say new games because like I can't really say, I'm looking forward to playing the last of us too, even though's been out for like a year or something.
Starting point is 00:22:24 I mean, I guess you could, right, if you haven't played it. All right. Let's do both. Let's do both. So I guess I am actually thinking or looking for a new game to, to, to, to, you know, to get back in two. And I'll start with the old games first. So I re-downloaded CSGO.
Starting point is 00:22:43 I haven't played that game since the infamous game night last year, right before the pandemic where I was the MVP at NZXT. Remember that? Ah, no. Yeah, that was in February 2020, and lockdown happened March 2020. But do you remember there was that game night where I forgot what I did exactly, but I think I was like, I defused the bomb, then I shot McKay like in midair or something. Oh, CSGO, right, right, yeah, yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:23:16 You remember that, yeah. But anyway, so I red downloaded CSGO because I was bored, haven't played it yet. I redownloaded Super Mega Baseball 3. Again. Well, remember we were talking about it the other day with Amanda, and we were talking about playing. So I just redownloaded it, hoping that maybe Monday. we will play this game i want to play it i just want to play it for forty four dollars expensive for a game
Starting point is 00:23:38 i've never heard of oh you can't you can't put a price on super mega baseball dennis you literally can they literally have that's true but you can it um and in the other game i i was looking at getting into which is a new game on my stadia i was thinking of of playing cyberpunk oh really it's not a bad game cyberpunk isn't a bad game it's just um I think I think the problem people have with the game like
Starting point is 00:24:10 launch launches aside right just like as a game of itself it's it's great it's not groundbreaking in any way right it's not doing anything that like is changing the game literally and figuratively right um like I feel like there's more options in like the Witcher right I feel like there's
Starting point is 00:24:28 there's more things for me to do in the Witcher like for example um like you could literally play the entire game and like just do Gwent right and just do like card games and stuff like that there really isn't anything like that in cyberpunk which is which is like was really disappointing and like it's really surprising to me that they didn't add any kind of like you know thing on the side that like everyone's doing right because there's always like some game that people are playing right whether it's poker or baseball or like CS go or like you know fortnight or stuff like that right there's always like a game that like a lot of people are into it's like a popular
Starting point is 00:25:00 thing and people like know about it right like what if they added like like a small version of like League of Legends or something like in cyberpunk right and like you can just hey man you want to challenge me to some cyber legends all right let's go you know there was there was there was a huge lack of like death to the world in cyberpunk but the game itself like it's not bad right it's just it just wasn't what people were expecting I think I think I just talked out of that I can play it Yeah, don't play it. Like I said, the stuff that I did, I enjoyed, the characters are really, really cool.
Starting point is 00:25:35 The roles are really interesting to, like, look at and, like, explore. But beyond that, there isn't, like, you know, it's not, it's not saving video games from there, from there, you know, whatever fate that they have at the moment. You know what I mean? Maybe I'll go back to playing Red Dead Red Dead Redemption, too, then on my stadium. I heard Red Dead's, like, still, like, one of the top games that are being played right now. Like, people are still really into Red. Yeah. Beyond lines.
Starting point is 00:25:58 super popular. Yeah. GTA online is still like getting a huge updates too. Super big. Yeah, the game, I'm not really looking forward to too many games. The only one right now
Starting point is 00:26:12 is a Warhammer 40K Dark Tide, which is made by the same developers who did Warhammer the end times Vermin Tide one and two, which is
Starting point is 00:26:26 Vermin Tide is like, It's like left for dead. I was talking about like some Norwegian black metal. Yeah, Warhammer's whatever, what would you call it? Warhammer the Dark Times, Vermintyed one and two. Yeah, that's a classic black metal album. This singer looks like a little goblin. Yeah, I actually saw them live at Ozfest last year.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Speaking of which, dude, I was, I was an, So just just real quick aside, I was literally going like about to pull the ticket to pull the trigger. Awesome. OzFest tickets to see Ozzy live because I know he hasn't been like doing well health-wise. And I wanted to see him one time before like, you know, he just stops touring and just like retires. And I don't think I'm going to get that chance now. I don't think I don't think it's going to happen anymore. I know, dude.
Starting point is 00:27:20 It's going to be a sad day. I was surprised I hear him on Post Malone's new album. That's pretty cool. He's on, he's a personal music album. Yeah, yeah, and he's, it's really good. I'd play it, but I'd probably get the DMCA'd. But yeah. So I'm looking forward to Dark Tide because it's a four-player co-op, like, shooter slash,
Starting point is 00:27:48 think like Left for Dead, right? It's like left for dead where you're like, you're like going through a campaign mission. And there's like beginning and an end. There's like missions and like set pieces you get to complete to finish it. But it's set in the. Warhammer 40k universe, which is really, really cool because I like sci-fi and there are enough really good sci-fi games. But this is like grim, dark, like worst possible feature sci-fi. No opinions.
Starting point is 00:28:15 I just, you know what's funny is, you had a video camera on me right now. You just watch me staring at that posse. I'm I pull up that picture right now. And I was like, I was like seriously like looking at it. I was like, man, why is there a trash cat on that roof? I was still looking at that picture. The jury is still out on the on the possum situation. Yeah, that's something I'm really looking forward to right now because I haven't played a good Warhammer game in the long time. Any of the Warhammers?
Starting point is 00:28:47 Warhammer is kind of hard to get into because there's so there's so many ways to like to like interact with that with that series or with that like intellectual property. You can do other like the miniatures on. tabletop, which is like insanely expensive because you got to buy the little miniatures and then don't come painted out and believe and you got to paint them out. And then you get to, you know, they're always changing the rule sets from out to here and like, oh, you know, now there's this thing. And you need, you need to do, you know, you either use the newest version of the rule set, but you also got to buy new units or I don't know, something like that. I've never played it.
Starting point is 00:29:18 It looks really hard to get into. If there's anyone in either of the chats, you like want to let me know what it's like to get into Warhammer 40K miniatures, let me know. So you can just like melt my brain. Look in the chat. Look in the chat right now. Warhammer is a, so Warhammer is a threat. It's a death metal band. See, I knew I wasn't crazy.
Starting point is 00:29:40 There's a, there is a band called, I think, Hammerfall or something that's actually a band that was made by Blizzard employees. Oh, really? Yeah. Let me see. Wait, wait, no, no. Hammerfall, sorry. Hammerfall is, okay.
Starting point is 00:30:01 Hammerfall is the name of a band. And then there is a name in, there's this town in World Warcraft called Hammerfall that they named because of the band. But there's also another band. It's called like Torin Chieftain or something like that that isn't comprised of pure Blizzard employees because they just, they all metal. I always wanted to do. A company band? You know how we used to have game nights at the office? I always wanted to do like a karaoke night, but then have employees bring their instruments.
Starting point is 00:30:32 So we can all just like have like a battle out of the bands or something. It'd be kind of cool, right? Yeah. There we go. Tom, Tom knows what's up. It's called the Elite Tour and Chieftain. That's the name of the band. I'd be with Andy.
Starting point is 00:30:46 And then we like battle Patrick and Sam. Patrick's such a good guitar. Sam too, man. I've never heard Sam play. Is it good? Yeah, I've been to a couple of his shows, actually. He didn't really? Or he used to be, like, in a really, like, good metal band. Was it a Metallica cover band or just like a regular metal band?
Starting point is 00:31:08 No, he's just really into Metallica. They were just, like, a metal band. But he shreds. He's really good. Has Metallica ever been in a video game? I'm trying to think, other than, like, than, like, a guitar hero. Like, the band itself or, like, someone.
Starting point is 00:31:23 from the band. As guest characters, you mean? Yeah, like, there's a guest character or as like a voice actor. Yeah, dude, James McPhil's in a Fortnite. Oh, yeah, really? He's the final boss.
Starting point is 00:31:36 Do Fortnite's become like the craziest crossover, like, game I've ever seen? They have, like, Mandalorian and, like, Ryu from Street Fighter and Chun Li, and they got Black Panther and... Ryu and Chun Li are in Fortnite?
Starting point is 00:31:51 Yeah, they added them, edit them in like a week or two ago. I don't have logged into the game just to buy the pack to to buy the character pack and then I played like one one match and then I left. It's funny. Yeah, that's it.
Starting point is 00:32:07 Because like I really like Ryu and Chun Li, but you got like Ryu ruled warrior, you know, who could throw fireballs from his hands running around with a shotgun and building forts. I think that. reminds me like remember like a couple of months ago when we donated um to dr lupo's charity stream
Starting point is 00:32:29 yeah and it was on a saturday like early on a saturday and we were like texting uh on slack and i think i said something like make sure you you make the donation when dr lupo is not playing you know when he's dead yeah so you can actually like talk about the donation uh you know that nzxte made on his stream you know and then next thing i know like you did it like right like as in the middle of this he was playing and i'm like what the heck man like he didn't even like see it like he was he was the middle of the game and then you said i don't know i i don't know fortnight i thought i thought he was dead and i was like okay later on that day i get home i open up my i turned on my pc
Starting point is 00:33:17 first thing i see is like yesoki is playing fortnight i was Dude, this guy, this guy's playing me, man. I was trying to learn. I was trying to learn Fortnite. I was like, if I'm going to be watching Fortnite stream so you can, like, throw in a donation for like a good cause, you know, I want to do it at like a good moment, then I'm going to make sure that I know what the heck's happening in this game.
Starting point is 00:33:41 You're trying to get in some Fortnite, dude. Like, it's not a bad game. It's just, it's just, it has a really steep learning curve once you start getting, like, towards the quote unquote better players. And it's not even like that. It's like you'll, you'll, you'll start playing with like bots
Starting point is 00:33:57 and then instantly they throw you in with a bunch of other players. And so it was like that one really good one who gets super sweaty and like spends five hours and creative is like building all day. It's like you take one shot and like he turns he turns from a person into like the Empire State Building or something
Starting point is 00:34:11 or like that giant building in Dubai. It's crazy. It's such an hard game to like really get into. According to death rage, you can play James Hetfield. in Tony Hawk Pro Skater. Oh, really? That's another game I was playing last year
Starting point is 00:34:29 that I should probably get back into. I guess it's pretty fun. Yeah, I... I got it from the Epic Store or whatever. Yeah, I didn't get too far in Tony Hawk. I played... I think this was like the progression in the game really confused me with your characters and stuff.
Starting point is 00:34:51 But yeah, like some of those I forgot how hard those games were. Oh yeah. It's really, I forgot how fast they were. Yeah. It's not even so much like how hard for me. It's like, because I know the moves. It's easy to memorize, you know, like left and B is a nose grind or whatever.
Starting point is 00:35:11 Yeah. That stuff's easy, but it's so freaking fast. Like I don't remember it being that fast. I can barely like hop off from like a ledge to a rail or whatever. it's just like super fast for me. Yeah, it's like, it's, it's in this like weird realm of games where like you can play it very, very casually, but if you want to actually move on and get like different levels and stuff, you have to actually get good at it.
Starting point is 00:35:35 And like part of the getting good is like gaming the system and like really cheating the game to like do much of tricks, right? So you do like a bunch of kick flips and then you do a manual for like 30 feet. And then you do a bunch of kick flips and then you do something like a wall jump or something then you grind for a while because they have like different meters and whatnot. And at that point, I'm like, what the heck I'm even doing in this game? Like, but it's a really fun, like really good port. Like I was really, or remastered, really surprised, like, how much it felt like playing those old games.
Starting point is 00:36:08 Like, I felt like I was like 11 years old again and playing on my PlayStation, like, in my living room, playing Tony Hawk. Yeah. I think I might have played it on the N64 too. It's a really bad version. I used to play it on the Dreamcast. Was that version again? Yeah, it's fun. Dreamcutt's awesome.
Starting point is 00:36:28 Yeah, it's like back in the day, because the consoles were so wildly different in like the tech that they used and like the hardware that they had, that there had to be so many concessions made from one console to another. Like I was watching this really cool. I like watching video essays on like video game stuff
Starting point is 00:36:44 and there's a really good one about the different ports of Tony Hawk and it's like the PS1 version does this and this and that. And then the N64 version does this, but they removed, you know, this color palette because it can't display properly the N64. And because of the, you know, the, like, limited RAM,
Starting point is 00:36:59 they added, like, a giant fog of war to it. So you can barely see, like, five feet in front of you or something. It's really crazy. Like, how, how different ports are these days. And I feel like people, people don't realize how bad it really used to be. If you didn't have, like, the console that that game, or, yeah, like, that one console that that game was designed to play around. Because if you played it on like anything else,
Starting point is 00:37:21 the experience was, like, wildly, different. I think Dreamcast won a lot of the times too. I actually beat Super Mario Bros. 3 on my Sega Genesis. Yeah, that's never going to happen. No, you're totally right. Yeah. And then they would always do this like really like wonky version on like the Game Boy, right?
Starting point is 00:37:45 It's like if you want to play Call a Duty or something or I can't think of a game off top of my head, but it's like if you want to play Godzilla. of the game for your PS1, it plays like this, but then you go over to the Gameboy version and it looks like not even the same thing at all. I remember playing Harry Potter. I think it was a Chamber of Secrets video game, my Game Boy Advance. And that was like a really wonky experience. That was really, really weird.
Starting point is 00:38:13 It did not hit at all. I'm laughing over here. I'm drinking water laughing because they're saying that my voice sounded like I smoked for three packs of day. I know it was a little raspberry. Damn, you're all rude. I know what happened there. All right.
Starting point is 00:38:33 Let's get some. I am drinking water. I'm actually drinking water from a Discord water bottle. Stay hydrated, folks. I'm like advancing the Game Boy. Let's go. I'm always hydrated. I am probably dehydrated because I've been drinking coffee all morning.
Starting point is 00:38:49 All right. Community questions time. Don't forget, guys, we do have the Gleam on the Discord server. If you want to check it out, go to Gleam. Discord.g-G-G-G-S-N-Z-T. That's Discord.g-G-G-S-N-Z-T to check out the podcast channel and to join the Gleam giveaway for Steam gift cards. Give me some Steam gift cards.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Okay, so community questions. Also, if you want to ask questions off the air, send an email to Clubcast at n-X-T.com. That's C-L-U-B-C-A-S-T-A-S-T at NZXT.com. First question from Luke, what are some PC building disasters you've experienced? I don't think I've ever had a disaster,
Starting point is 00:39:31 to be honest. PC disaster? One time, I, so back when I first started working at NZXT, I used to do a lot of different things. And one of the things I had to do was actually build computers.
Starting point is 00:39:51 Like if we had to go, to an event. Like, we didn't have PC builders like we do now where we can say, like, hey, I need 20 computers or whatever for an event. Like, I literally had to build a computer. So I built the first ever water-cooled computer that I ever built. And I didn't build it myself. I built it with another employee.
Starting point is 00:40:20 But that thing was all messed up. Like, I had no idea what the heck I was doing. And it had to go to some show. I forget which show it was going to. I think it was at the Anaheim Convention Center. And anyway, I had to, like, drive it in my car. So I'm driving it in my car. I'm at a red light.
Starting point is 00:40:40 I look in the back seat just to check on the computer because I had it, like, you know, tied with the seatbelt. And I just see, like, a bunch of red fluid on the car seat. What the heck? Yeah, so it was leaking. So I pulled over, open the box. I'm sure enough, yeah, there was like a giant massive leak of water leaking the PC. So the whole PC got ruined.
Starting point is 00:41:03 My backseat got ruined. The computer didn't go to the show. And yeah, that's basically a, that's pretty much a disaster, I think. Oh, boy. I've never really had a disaster while building a computer. But I would say I've had really, really frustrating experiences. And that is when I would use like a really, really cheap third party cooler, like a, and cheap, I mean like inexpensive price, right?
Starting point is 00:41:31 So example, like the Hyper 212, right, which is like a classic cooler that like a lot of people use because it, because it works really well. That little X like bracket that they give you has to like align with like a little divot or like a pin on the actual cooling block. and I'm so butterfingers that I always like screw up like lining it perfectly so then when it go to like screw in the the the actual screws to fix the back plate and the in the front plate to the motherboard it like falls apart and I'm like I get so angry and frustrated I'm like okay like please just stay and like you know you got to get your hands in there it's such a pain in
Starting point is 00:42:10 the butt but it's like the only time I've ever really ever really had like a disaster I've never broken a component, never snapped anything in half, I never bent my pins. I've dropped stuff, you know, like I dropped like a screwdriver onto the motherboard. You drop the computer on your feet and cut them in half? Yeah, exactly. Yeah, but like, I'm not though. I've never really had a problem building, to be honest. I see CCC-1-12 is superior to the 2012.
Starting point is 00:42:44 We've built a computer in a long time. So I see which one that Martin here is showing. And I disagree. And the reason why I don't like that cooler is because of the mounting little brackets for the fans. That's probably my least favorite way to like mount a fan onto a radiator or onto a radiator fin is because of those little clips always seem to like fall off or like pop off. Right when you're put to put it on, one of the ends just flies out. Isn't that how they're all connected, though? I've never seen a different design, I don't think.
Starting point is 00:43:22 I feel like there should be another one. I don't know. Maybe I'm really bad at building a office. That's why I go with that. Cryer rig air cooler, same deal. That's why I go for for Crackens. I don't have to deal with that. Just screw it into the radiator.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Let's see here. Death Rage wants to know. How do you rate Dennis on today's? intro on a scale of 1 to 10. I'm going to give him a 7 because I feel like he used that intro before. Which one? The cruising down your street and your 6-4. I don't think I have.
Starting point is 00:44:02 Someone should... I'll give you a 7.5. Someone should go and like figure it out. It's all right. Yeah. Yeah, chat's fixed. There's an issue with the podcast chat. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:44:21 Your next one is, or did I answer the question? No, no, no, no, I haven't. Favorite NZC staff? My favorite staff. Well, I have a lot of favorites for different reasons. Both staff. Pick a department. Customer service.
Starting point is 00:44:45 That would have to be Lauren. really Lauren interesting okay build if you know any of the builders now I don't know who's there anymore to be honest that would be Harry
Starting point is 00:45:05 Harry isn't a build Harry is like a different part of build though he's like product or something no okay no I'm pretty sure he's favorite builder how about that I'm going to say I don't remember too many because I also don't know who's still there but if Denzel is still there then Zell's a cool dude I don't know if he's he's still building
Starting point is 00:45:34 but I'm gonna say Jeremy Jeremy I don't know Jeremy's I think Jeremy might have left dude I don't know because I tried to tag him the day and I didn't show up I don't know if he could change his name it's it's hard to tell dude it's really hard to tell like who's like it's like we haven't been the office in forever right and they'll real contact it would have with people in the builder house would be when I walk in there, you know, just to see, okay, yeah, yeah, Shio says she's, uh, that, uh, that he's not there anymore. I miss him. Jeremy, why?
Starting point is 00:46:06 Jeremy with the Y. Um, that guy, yeah. Yeah, like, uh, I haven't been back there in forever, you know, like, I haven't been the office in almost like a year now. So, you know, it's, it's, uh, I remember, I vividly remember telling Johnny in 28, 18, like right when, like, I think right where like around when you got hired, that news, I remember that's like when I, I didn't know everyone's name anymore. And it was really weird because it was just like so many people.
Starting point is 00:46:35 I remember telling Johnny, I'm like, is it weird that I don't know everyone's name anymore? He's like, no, it's not weird. It's kind of weird, like, to not know, like, the entire company, right? I mean, it isn't. It isn't, right? It depends on the size, you know? Like if the company, like you were saying, it's only 20 people, then you can't remember 20 people's names and you have a problem, right?
Starting point is 00:46:58 You know, but like, you know, if we're going through like, yeah, right? But if we're going through like crazy pandemic surge where like everyone's buying a computer for whatever reason and, you know, we bring on like 100 people or something, then yeah, I don't expect anybody to remember all 100 people, right? Like that's also why like teams in departments exist, right? Like I'm sure there's like a team one and a team two and a team three. You know, so there's like one manager managing 100 people.
Starting point is 00:47:20 Like that would be impossible. We don't know everyone's name anymore. You just lost that love and feeling. It's definitely a different feeling, right? That's right. I just call everyone Dennis. He's called everyone chief. It's like, I'm going to say, yeah, I, it's like, once you get big enough,
Starting point is 00:47:44 the team that you're working on gets big enough that they just become, you know, the people who name you should know, right? Like, I don't even know the name of everyone. on our community team. What's your name again? I don't know. I forget too. There's so many people
Starting point is 00:47:58 I forget my own name. Like I think marketing used to be like when I first joined it was this new me, Andy, Emily and West, right? No, that was it. And then like we brought on Josh and then Newton's on
Starting point is 00:48:13 and then I think we got like John Francius and this one other I think up top of my head. I don't remember. And then like I guess Mike's Mike Taney's is on the team, too, right? Mike Tee, yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:26 Yeah, Mike T. Because I know he was like contracting, but I guess he's like just full on with this or something. I have no idea, right? Like that's the thing. And then we were about in Talley, you know, and if we're looking to hopefully expand again,
Starting point is 00:48:37 it's just like, I can't remember names of our own, of other people in our own team, you know? I just see who's in that Slack chat. Oh, yeah. And then Jeff, right? Jeff knows on our team. Is Deb Jeff.
Starting point is 00:48:52 Beaty Jeff Yeah It's hard, dude Let's see What else you got here Next question is These are all from the Discord by the way for now What is the best
Starting point is 00:49:07 What is the best breakfast What is your favorite way to have eggs Let's just ask the second one I like sunny side up I'm a fan of sunny side up eggs Eggs solo I'm going to say scrambled But my favorite way to eat eggs
Starting point is 00:49:22 is in an omelet. Ketchup or no ketchup on eggs? Saracha. That's a, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, such, like, get on a lot of stuff. Saracha tea is good on everything. Hamburger's pizza, hot dogs, eggs, rice, chicken, like, literally any food you can imagine, like, like, saracha makes it better for sure.
Starting point is 00:49:52 Um, people don't, I guess people don't like ketchup on eggs. It catch up on eggs is fire. It is really good. Ketchup on eggs is all right. Saracha on eggs. It's, it's, it's amazing. Don't like drown it, you know? It's like just like don't drown it.
Starting point is 00:50:08 And it right? Just put like a little bit. It adds, it adds to it. The Nakutu tried it, all right? Um, let's see. How am I laying in my bed right now with the anime pause because I have to listen to this? I don't know. How are you? Let's see. I'm looking some of the questions here.
Starting point is 00:50:30 I don't want to like, I've asked that one before. This might be a good one for you, Ivan. Has anything drastic happened to your office? Earthquake or tsunami or something like that. Have you had like a natural disaster in the office? Maybe the old one. Kind of.
Starting point is 00:50:47 Yeah, no, in the old office we did. There was one particular week, I remember, where it was pouring like nonstop like for a whole week it was just raining constantly and our roof didn't collapse but like it cracked
Starting point is 00:51:05 because of the weight from the water on top so our whole warehouse it didn't get flooded but a lot of I think a lot of stuff did get ruined did we like ever lose computers
Starting point is 00:51:20 or something like that like did they yeah like I know for sure like in the in the marketing room in particular one computer
Starting point is 00:51:31 actually you know what funny funny story that computer that I told you that was leaking in my back seat we fixed it and then that computer then got destroyed
Starting point is 00:51:42 because the water fell on it from that storm he's getting saved it from the whole time of faith live by the water died by the water it's like a final destination kind of thing right that was like a dude that was like a like a 5,000 dollar computer yeah like so many like crazy things in it um it looked like a UFO had so much
Starting point is 00:52:09 RGB but anyway that one got ruined and uh another interesting side note from that story is um that that crack never got or that uh I guess it's a crack, right? Like in the roof. It never got fixed right. So there was like open a little bit. So there was one day where a couple of birds flew in. And they were like flying all over the warehouse, dude, scaring people.
Starting point is 00:52:40 And I remember Vivian. I think Vivian was like trying to catch the birds or like chase them out or something with the broom. Yeah. But then when we ended up moving from that old office. to the new office, there was a bunch of stuff in that marketing room where we stored everything that had a bunch of bird poop on it. So, yeah, so I guess the birds had, like, nested in that room after that storm. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:53:09 They pooped like in a bunch of computer cases and parts and stuff like that. If it's bad as someone ever got that, right? Like we send it to, like, uh, we send it to like a uh i don't know i'm trying to think like a like a like a like a influencer or something something like test it out and it's like it's got a bunch of bird poop on it just like why is your bird poop on my computer yeah oh man um Jesus it's ridiculous i know sometimes like rma they'll get like computers that have like roaches and bugs in them and stuff because they like the warmth i remember once i had a friend who brought
Starting point is 00:53:53 over his PS1. This is a long time ago. And he opens it up and just a bunch of roaches fly out of it. And I freak the hell out. My bro, why the heck are the roaches?
Starting point is 00:54:02 First off in your house, right? And second, why are the roaches inside your PlayStation? Like, that's so disgusting. I freaked. It's so gross. That's great. Let's see here.
Starting point is 00:54:15 Shio said you can hear the birds cooing or walking on the roof sometimes. Right. Let's see here. What else he got? We should see what other questions we got here. Some good community questions. This is me.
Starting point is 00:54:32 I'm going to crotchy. Ivan is already a crotchety old man. He's already gone to that point. I'm definitely getting more crotchety. My patience is wearing thin. It's because I'm always testing it. Here's a tech-related question. Someone asked a while back.
Starting point is 00:54:51 I know if they're still here, but can one RGB controller power for RGB fans? Yes. Pretty much, yes. You can do up to like eight, I believe. If it's the smart device V2, then you could do eight fans for per lane because it's, uh, uh,
Starting point is 00:55:06 I think it's, uh, isn't it six per channel? So, it depends on the LEDs on it because, but you, you can do, you can do, you can do,
Starting point is 00:55:16 40 LEDs per lane. And I believe the fans have like five. I think. Yeah. Yeah. So it's, I think, I think the,
Starting point is 00:55:26 It's six devices per channel or 40 LEDs, whatever comes first, basically. I'm doing the wrong, I think I might be doing the wrong math on that. Let me double check. Because I'm curious. It's always nice to like, no. You said five, right? Six times five is 35. No, no.
Starting point is 00:55:40 It's eight LEDs per, per RGB fan. I'm not smart enough to do six times eight. Yeah, neither can I. Someone tell me what six times eight is in the chat. Whoever's first. on either platform. 48. That's 48.
Starting point is 00:56:01 Which, so maybe it's 50 LEDs, under 50 LEDs. Yeah. So, you're asking the wrong people this question. Please contact NZT
Starting point is 00:56:11 service if you need assistance. Do you actually cool, though? And this is a really good idea that we should probably tell someone to do is do like an RGB LED calculator, right? Where you like, you punch in how many strips you want,
Starting point is 00:56:25 what kind of strip, the size of strip, and then the fans into the thingy, and then see how it goes. That's a good idea, but it should totally ask you some different questions, like, what type of video games do you play? What sort of energy drink do you consume? What's your favorite anime? And then based on those answers, it gives you like an RGB formula, like, oh, you need to have, you know,
Starting point is 00:56:54 uh, RGB fans and, uh, some, some, some nano leaves on your wall or something like that. Um, that'd be amazing.
Starting point is 00:57:02 Okay. Yeah, it's, it's, it's, 40 LEDs per channel. So if there's a, eight times five,
Starting point is 00:57:09 yeah, so there's five, five fans per channel, which is 40, right? Um, because, Dennis, go,
Starting point is 00:57:16 watch. This is how my brain works. Perfect example. Okay. So I know eight times 10 is 80. is 80, right? Because he has moved the dead. He's smoothed us over.
Starting point is 00:57:25 Right? So half of that, which is five, would equal 40. So it's five fans per RGB. So yeah. So you could do, you do it at the five NXT air
Starting point is 00:57:40 RGB fans until your, into your, into your, I think. I think you're worse at Matt than I am, dude.
Starting point is 00:57:53 I, never claimed to be good at math ever pretty bad yeah i've never claimed to be good at math ever horrible at math oh i mean i to be honest like i don't really know how people just do mental math like especially with like the the multiplication table like they just like memorize that stuff they made his memory i have no idea yeah yeah it's for us it was like a those thing we had to remember um okay uh is do one last question then quick community round up and then Time for lunchies. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:58:24 We already asked that one. Would it be episode featuring Ivan, Amanda, and B? We can make it happen. We can get everyone on here. See any of the questions? That would never happen. No, okay. Never would never let that happen.
Starting point is 00:58:41 Too many people for me to keep track of it. I can't remember my name. No. Let's see here. I think that's really pretty much it. I don't think anyone else really asked too many other questions, which is totally fine. I have no problem with that. Or I miss them.
Starting point is 00:58:58 So that's it. I don't think I'm spending them today. Yeah. I told you I was going to be lazy today. I'm like, I'm not going to do anything on the podcast today. Just talk. Same here. That's all I want.
Starting point is 00:59:11 All right. So we're almost in here. Community Roundup Time. A couple of things. So first and foremost, Poochie's Pick. So our new Poochies Pick recipient winner, has been announced, and it is Don's from the server. Don's, congratulations.
Starting point is 00:59:27 Very, very proud of them. Everybody tagged Don's in the podcast chat and I know the heck out of him. But I really like this one. So a couple really cool notes about Don's. He got, or they got, because I don't know, you know, I want to assume. Don's got, not Don, Don's. Oh, my God, you guys are ridiculous. That's it.
Starting point is 00:59:44 No, you got it. You got it right. I guess it changes his name again. I was like, no, you're tagging the wrong person. He, they received the most votes out of any person we've ever had since we started allowing community to vote, which I think is really, really great. So it goes to show. I, I've seen him in our channels, our hardware and software channels helping people out. So really, you know, like really proud of that.
Starting point is 01:00:12 You know, these like helping out the community. I mean, you guys are going nuts on these links. Thank you, though. and one thing that I talk to him about is he I know what he's doing because I've done the same thing and I used to do it when I used to work in like customer service and like tech support which is someone comes in with the someone comes in with the question he may not always know the like the correct answer but he'll look it up and I can tell he's doing that based on like the way he's kind of leading people towards the question which to me shows like no lie it
Starting point is 01:00:42 shows awesome ingenuity because like that's 99% of tech support right. right, is I don't know this, but I know how to find the answer for you, right? Give me a minute. You know, I'm going to put you on a brief hold while I find out for you, which you think is super, super awesome, right? Like, I think if you just expect people to know everything, you're kind of being like a goofy goober because how the heck could anybody ever know everything ever, right?
Starting point is 01:01:03 Like, you have to learn some way, right? And I think it's awesome that he's doing that. And I've seen him got like get better too. Like he's definitely increased his knowledge like exponentially since he's been here. So I'm super proud of him. super happy to see him, you know, participate in the community. And, you know, it's a, it couldn't have happened to a better person getting the poochies pick. So congratulations to them.
Starting point is 01:01:25 I have an interesting Don story, actually. Oh, yeah? Yeah. What is it? So I, it starts off bad, but it's actually turns good, right? Uh-oh. So he won, like, one of these steam card giveaways. that we did. I don't know if it was on the podcast
Starting point is 01:01:46 or on social or something. He won one of the team card giveaways. And then he messaged me and he said, hey, I can't accept the gift card because I can't use steam. My parents won't let me use steam or something like that.
Starting point is 01:02:02 And for like a split second, I got really mad. Not mad, but I responded to him in a very, very mean way. And then I apologize, like right after I said, I said something like, why the heck did you enter a giveaway you can't use the prize or something, something like that. And I immediately regret it.
Starting point is 01:02:21 I was like, oh, that was mean. Like, I should have said that. I told him, I'm like, hey, sorry, that sounded really mean. I didn't mean it. But anyway, I started talking to him. And I was like, man, this guy's like really nice. He just seemed like a super, super cool dude. And I told him, well, you know, can't use this gift card.
Starting point is 01:02:40 Like, can I just give you like something else? I think I gave him like free nitro or something. But yeah, I just remember that day because you're being, because I remember talking to him for a while and I realized like he was a very, very, very nice, nice person. So I'm glad he got Pucci's pick. Yeah, I'm going on the same way. Sometimes we're like, I'll see someone respond to me in a certain way. And I just think like, why the heck?
Starting point is 01:03:07 Like, come on. Like, are you serious? I'm like, no, you what? Like, I'm just being, I was being grumpy. I didn't have my omelet this morning. Someone's mowing some lawns outside here. Sorry for all the background noise, folks. Okay, next thing on the, on the,
