Starting point is 00:00:47 Hello, everyone, and welcome to episode 82 of the NZXD Clubcast, the official podcast of the NXD community. This podcast is recorded live every Thursday at 10AM Pacific Standard Time on the official NXC Discord server and is available to stream on demand on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and SoundCloud. So if you thrive in chaos, you thrive in chaos. I don't know what that means, but I write it down super late, and I'm assuming it's incredibly clever.
Starting point is 00:01:17 My name is Dennis, with me as always, is Ivan. How do you do, but people? Not doing so great today. Had a very rough night. Just, you know, everything. Like I said, you're not cut out to be a dog dad. I don't know what you're talking about. Do you have a special guest today?
Starting point is 00:01:47 TLDR late night and I'm tired. Special guest today, tonight. They say tonight, special guest today, and it's Andy from the PR team. Everybody knows Andy, right? Andy's a big fan of the show. He's a regular here. He's one of our many personalities here at NZXT.
Starting point is 00:02:05 And he's also from the PR team. Hi, Andy. Where'd Andy go? Did Andy die? He's just muted forever. I like how Andy's literally been talking to us for the last 30 minutes, but as soon as we go live, he's like, let me just meet myself.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Yeah, I'm just going to not talk. We don't need to have discussion at all. Yeah. I see your microphone is muted, Andy. I see your microphone is muted too. Let's see, Andy just DM me. He just said he has computer issues. Okay, well, that's okay.
Starting point is 00:02:50 We all have computer issues from time and time. It's nothing to be ashamed of, you know. It's a thing that happens, you know. It's external factors. Hello there, everyone in Twitchland. We are in the process of working on a better and bigger and better Twitch. So for now, you're just getting like a static image on there. But hello, for anyone.
Starting point is 00:03:12 Computer issue fix. Hey, let's go, Andy. Let's do it. Was the issue that your microphone was muted? No, half of it. My mic was muted within Google Meets, and Safari just decided to not work. You know, you work at a computer company that sells Windows PCs, correct? I do know that, but...
Starting point is 00:03:34 Okay. You might want to get on that then. I mean, at least my computer works on, like, someone in this channel. I'm not going to name names, but it rhymes with Toppy. Yeah, I... The reason I don't want to fix my computer is because I'm trying to actively disconnect from... You're not. From society.
Starting point is 00:03:58 That's why you stopped wearing glasses. That's one reason. But I can't see anyone. But actually, you mean accurately disconnects from everything? One thing I did start doing more of during this pandemic, which is kind of interesting. I started writing down things more than like typing things.
Starting point is 00:04:21 What? I don't know. Like I just started writing things down more like with a piece of paper on a piece of paper as opposed to just typing it. So before, like, maybe I would type, you know, my to-do list, maybe, you know, type it out, here are the 10 things I'm going to do today. But now I actually write it down a piece of paper because I hate looking at my computer all day long. It's driving me crazy.
Starting point is 00:04:41 Interestingly enough, I had my eyes checked semi-recently. And then I was, I thought to myself, oh, man, my eyesight's going to get a lot worse since pandemic just at my room all day, staring at a screen but then actually one of my eyes got better and one of them just stayed the same and I was just like huh
Starting point is 00:05:06 all right Was it your third eye Andy? It was my third eye See that was the rule of improv You said something and I said yes Yes and Andy
Starting point is 00:05:22 You're supposed to say yes and It improved Oh my God So we have Andy today Just to say hi But also Also to talk about the new N7 B550 motherboard to be launched
Starting point is 00:05:38 Literally today this morning Like a couple hours ago We'll get to that in a second I feel like it was launched last night I woke up this morning And I opened up my phone And then it was just like Why has there a million articles
Starting point is 00:05:51 About this thing already I know right It's going nuts But we can get into that In a little bit Andy, I don't know. What's going on with you, man? We haven't spoken to you in quite some time.
Starting point is 00:06:02 What have you been up to? Staying safe. Staying indoors. But while indoors, I actually created a podcast with my friend because I'm not on this podcast enough. So I'm like, I need a podcasting outlet. So we made a role-playing podcast. All right. Role playing what?
Starting point is 00:06:28 Like D&D. But we don't play D&D. We play like a different role-playing game called Monster of the Week. It's a lot more streamlined than D&D, I think. And it focuses on more role-playing. And D&D just has a lot of like, like, it's more like playing like Final Fantasy. You have like predetermined spells. Like in Monster of the Week, I like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:06:55 want a force field. And it's like within the realm of my character and I made a force field. And I'm like, you know what? I want echolocation. And I had echolocation. But it's really interesting. The podcast is called Roll Re-Rroll. And yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:14 I did follow Roll R-R-R-Rol on Twitter and Instagram. I did subscribe to the podcast on Spotify. I have not listened to it yet, but I have. have read the channel or the episode descriptions and they're actually pretty funny. Kudos Andy to whoever is writing
Starting point is 00:07:35 those things for you. It's not me. That's why I said kudos to whoever's writing those things for you. Yeah. Well, thank you. I mean, we worked hard on it. My friend who's a great DM or GM, whatever, it changes for game, but he's a great
Starting point is 00:07:51 dungeon master and he spent a lot of time on it. And it's a labor of love. Which of these friends have I met? I know I've met Saul. But I don't think I've met...
Starting point is 00:08:06 You met Saul, you met while. That's right. They're both on the podcast, but you haven't met the other one, David, and the GM Rahul. No. I like that name. Rahul.
Starting point is 00:08:21 Yeah, he's an awesome dude. He's a fantastic GM. Like, D&D, role playing is one of his. Are any of these friends, the friend that Dennis met at Walgreens the other day? No, that's a different friend. Oh. That's Mike.
Starting point is 00:08:36 So let me tell you my Mike story, because Mike's a great name. I'm a great name, a great dude. So I was at Walgreens and I was buying some eye flush for a undisclosed reason, right? I was buying some eye flush. I don't know why it matters what I was buying, but there we go. I was buying eye flush, right? and I'm wearing my, I'm wearing just like a regular hat, right? I got my mask on.
Starting point is 00:08:58 I'm wearing my NXT hoodie. The black one with like the black printing with like the purple, the purple, what do you call it? The purple inside or whatever. And I won't get past this dude. And he's like, hey, I'm like, yeah. I was like, do you work at NXT? I'm like, yeah, I do. It's like, oh, that's cool.
Starting point is 00:09:13 Like my friend works there. Oh, awesome. What's your friend's name? Andy. And I'm like, Andy. And I was thinking like old Andy. Andy like Andrew from my customer service, right? He's like, no, his name is Andy Johnson.
Starting point is 00:09:26 I'm like, oh, I'm like, that Andy. The person who you sat next to. Yeah. I'm like, oh, that Andy. Like, yeah, I know, Andy. You still talked about you for like five minutes. You said you're a good dude. I hope so.
Starting point is 00:09:39 I try. It's just like a random Walgreens like pretty far out from you because like you live for me probably like 30 minutes or so on the freeway, maybe a little bit less, I don't know. It's hard to tell time on the freeway here in Southern California because it just always fluctuates. It's not constant, right? But yeah, it's pretty far away.
Starting point is 00:10:03 And then when I told you, hey, dude, I met your friend. You're like, oh, you, you my friend in Lakewood? I'm like, no, it's not like nowhere near Lakewood. Lake Forest. Lake Forest. Wait, Lake Forest. Where's Lake Forest at? It's next to Irvine.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Okay, yeah, yeah. Yeah, so like it's not even further away. I was very surprised that old Mike was hanging out at the Anaheim Walgreens where I used to do stuff. I don't know. I rarely go to that wallings. Your old stomping grounds, essentially. Mm-hmm. Yeah, pretty much.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Yeah, I know I've known Mike for a long time. We wrote out of blog together. We've gone to E3 together. And we had a very memorable time. like on the last day we were playing a Star Wars game it was the first the first remake of Battlefront and it was like at the end of the day we're in line to get a demo and we were just exhausted and um there was like a rock star person just handing out energy drinks and I took one and I don't drink energy drinks at all like except when they're given to me at convention
Starting point is 00:11:17 And I just was hyper beyond belief. We were inside this tiny little room and it was like hot, but it was like themed like hot. And I very loudly said like, why is it so damn hot in this ice planet? And yeah, I thought, and I was just going crazy. All right then. Yeah, this is my E3 story with Mike.
Starting point is 00:11:42 It's a almost similar to my E3 story with you where you just came out with a giant bag of bang energy. I think the theme is if there's some free energy drinks, I'll just take them for no reason. You don't even drink them, right? Like, not even like a big drinker of those. The last time I had an energy drink was the, were those bangs. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:12:04 Yeah. Do you count coffee as an energy drink? I don't drink coffee. Why not? Oh, that was not the question. Just answer the question, Andy? No. They're similar, but an energy drink is a very defined.
Starting point is 00:12:26 There's cousins. Here's another question for you. Is the hot dog a sandwich? That's a good one. Yes. Correct. It is a sandwich. I remember watching an interview with Stephen Covaren, Ruth Bader Ginsburg,
Starting point is 00:12:39 and he asked her that, and she said yes. so I'll follow the Ginsburg precedent there. Good to know. I pretty much follow everything she does. She says that I do it. Or if she has said it, you know, because she's not with us anymore, I do it. All right, Andy, let's talk about this B550.
Starting point is 00:13:08 So, first off, what the heck is the N7B550, Andy? Well, it's our newest motherboard, but this time, instead of an Intel board, we have released an AMD board. We've heard the demand. The cries. A lot of people, like, even within the media, I'm like, hey, here's an Intel board.
Starting point is 00:13:32 They're like, yeah, that's cool. But when's the AMD board coming out? And then I always just like, maybe soon, we're working on it. But now I just went to a bunch of people. people and I was like, uh, we're actually doing it. And the, uh, enthusiasm was like awesome. Like some people were just like, F yeah. Like, that's awesome. And I'm like, yeah, I know. Um, but yeah, we finally released an A&B board. And from as of this recording, the reception has been
Starting point is 00:14:10 pretty well, or pretty good. Well, good, good. So, Andy, why B5, 5.5. and not X570 from someone in chat? I think the biggest reason why is because of the shroud, because X570 requires active cooling and on the chip set. Yeah. And B550 doesn't. This makes it a bit more simple, right?
Starting point is 00:14:35 Yeah, it's just a lot easier. But according to Wendell, Wilson, of level 1, one text. Wendell? I love Wendell. He's my favorite. Wendell's awesome. Wendell's awesome.
Starting point is 00:14:50 And I know you love Wendell. We had to talk about that. Well, but... Hold on. Before I continue, I don't, I don't want anyone to think that, like, I actually don't like Wendell. I think Wendell's really really cool. But I'm also not, like, a super huge fan.
Starting point is 00:15:06 And, like, I think Andy's, like, assumed I'm, like, the biggest, like, Wendell fan or something for whatever reason. So it'll make sure that everyone knows here. We're not being sarcastic. Like, Wendell is cool. No, I do. Lendell's, I love working with Wendell. He's very easy to work with and provides very good feedback.
Starting point is 00:15:25 But in his review, he says that our board has basically are better than some X570 boards. Really? Keep that. I don't know the exact wording, but he said this B550 in some instances is better than X570. Wow. Okay. So Andy, start going on, I was going to say,
Starting point is 00:15:49 I don't know, I didn't see the review, so I'm not sure which boards he's comparing it to, but in my humble opinion, like what separates, not just the AMD board, but all our other motherboards, like first and foremost, obviously,
Starting point is 00:16:05 is just the way it looks, you know, I think, I think we kind of, sorry, we set a trend with the cover. Yeah, well,
Starting point is 00:16:13 yeah, that's one thing, but I think, you know, obviously it looks very clean and minimal, but what's cool about that is that it's actually not that minimal. It has like tons of USB ports and headers, like more than any other motherboard I've ever personally used. Like this one in particular, the new one has eight USB 2.0 ports, eight USB 3.2 ports, three USB 3.2 ports on the back panel.
Starting point is 00:16:43 It's like basically like you're never going to run out of ports on an NDXT motherboard and the other cool thing about this one in particular that I like a lot is that you can install
Starting point is 00:16:56 RGB products from different manufacturers so it doesn't have to just be NZT Yeah that's pretty cool too and they work through cam as well so it plays nicely
Starting point is 00:17:10 with our hardware and the thing that's cool about that is because when you have like 50 different RGB softwares, it gets a little cumbersome to like, all right, I got to change my RAM color now, all right, now I have to change my GPU color now, all right, now I have to change my fans.
Starting point is 00:17:31 Like, the more that you can consolidate into one program, the better. Also, I did a quick poll this morning on the server asking what CPU people use and AMD is winning. surprisingly. It's not surprisingly. Because at least on
Starting point is 00:17:49 Amazon sales a while back, like AMD has sold out or outsold Intel like 9 to 1. Really? I didn't know that. The AMD has gained a lot of market share from Intel. Though it still has not surpassed
Starting point is 00:18:05 anywhere near the number of people who are using Intel. Because I was actually just about to talk about that. And I'm looking at the Steam hardware server right now from February and the split is still 71 28 in favor of Intel. So 71% of people on Steam. Now, granted, you know, like, I'm sure a lot of these are like a little bit older, right? And I think like if you're if you're if you're building a computer right now, right? You're, you're building a brand new computer. You're probably looking at Intel just because of the
Starting point is 00:18:32 price of performance, right? With particular chips, right? So obviously like, you know, this isn't a And, you know, it's not like, you know, every person who's using an Intel, you know, CPU on Steam is using, like, you know, brand new high and stuff, right? I think that. Like, Linus did a video, like, not too long ago of, like, what the average build on Steam was. And it was, like, a 1060 with, like, a fourth generation Intel CPU. So, I mean, yeah, people do keep their own. hardware for quite some time. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:10 They do? I know. Copy. Yeah. Actually, I remember when I first started working at NZXT back in the olden days. You know, I remember we did some like a research type of project where we determined that on average, this was a long time ago, but back then at least, people were building a new computer, I believe it was every
Starting point is 00:19:38 six or seven years. So people do hold on to their hardware a long time. That kind of is consistent with console lifespans as well because the, what do you call it? The PS4 came
Starting point is 00:19:54 out like 2014 or 13 only in the Xbox one as well, then the PS5 came out in 2020 and Xbox Series X-Ex as well, so. Yeah, like, to be honest, to be honest,
Starting point is 00:20:12 to be honest, like, it's only really been, like, a couple of years since, like, AMD's really been, like, on the up and up, right? Like, it hasn't been that long, so, you know, I feel like expect within the next, like, year, too, to really see those numbers, like, really start kind of eveninging out a little bit as we both start to replace their older hardware. But, like, you know, for example, like, on our starter and our starter plus, right, like, we're still using 1660s and, like, you know, 1050 TI. So, I mean, like, there's still really good cards for the majority of people.
Starting point is 00:20:36 you still get some really good performance off of that. So it's one of those things that are like, you know, I think us here on the more, like, enthusiast side are kind of looking to upgrade, like, a bit more often. Well, maybe that Ivan, because his computer is literally like, you know, from the dinosaur age. But, you know, like me and Andy, you know, like, I have a 2070 super and I'm already kind of looking
Starting point is 00:20:54 to maybe grab them like a 3070, right, once the, you know, in like five years once they're actually available again. But, like, I'm really curious to see, like, I, I, I wonder if Steam would ever do a survey that's not just based on people's hardware, but also based on the hardware they want to get in the future, right? It's like, what are people thinking about if they were to upgrade right now? I feel like that would be really valuable to know.
Starting point is 00:21:19 But I would say that just based on the amount of comments that we get on, like, Instagram and Twitter and Facebook whenever you post anything regarding our Intel boards, right? I'm sure a lot of people are probably looking to swap over to AMD now. Yeah, I mean, but also they're both, they're both. great for you're not going to have a bad time with either oh yeah for sure yeah Intel Intel has higher clock speeds generally and that generally favors gaming but AMD has more cores and that can help in multi-threaded workloads yeah um it just depends on your use case and like I think there's just a lot of tribalism within um you know gaming and hardware in
Starting point is 00:22:04 particular. They were like people like, oh, team red all the way or team blue all the way. Yeah. Like, I feel like that was more prevalent, you know, like five years ago. I don't really see that that much anymore, to be honest. It's still there. I mean, at least from all the YouTube videos, it's like, oh, AMD fan boys are flaming me or Intel fan boys or Nvidia fan boys. but I mean at least in the console space like things seem to be more like since like things are being more cross platform now and
Starting point is 00:22:41 yeah I think people I think people care less now at least in consoles but I think in the PC hardware at least in more in the enthusiasts there yeah I think you're right people do care more PC
Starting point is 00:22:55 because I know every time every single time we say anything about Intel. The first question is about AMD. It's really weird. It's also kind of like how like there's this, there's this like notion or I don't say notion, but there's a certain group of people who once they like learn
Starting point is 00:23:18 something, that's all that they care about talking about. So case and point, right? Like the whole thing regarding, you know, which way you're ready to should be oriented, right? No one ever talked about it. No one cared. It wasn't even a conversation. No one once ever told me, hey, bro, you might want to flip over that radiator until that video came out, right?
Starting point is 00:23:36 And then all of a sudden, now everyone's an expert on, like, radiators, right? And then five other creators made another video. And they're like, no, like, actually, like, you know, it's not that big of a deal. You're good to go, right? So I feel like a lot of people are, like, that same way where they hear from somewhere or something that, like, amD is better, right, for this or that and just automatically, you know, assume or just get it in their brain. okay, AMD all the time. If you don't have AMD, you know, you're missing out.
Starting point is 00:24:01 So, like, as soon as anybody says anything about Intel, what about that AMD, though? It's like, what about it? We're talking about Intel right now, dude. Happens all the time. Yeah, I think it's just people like being in a tribe, and it's like people like having a common enemy, like in sports. Like, me being a Dodger fan, like I always hate on the Giants.
Starting point is 00:24:25 I hate on literally every team. that basically isn't the Dodgers and it's irrational. But it's just, you know, you get into this like hive mind that, you know, it ruins your objectivity. Like, for instance, like, I would boo like Albert Pooleholst in his prime when he was ever at Dodger Stadium. And, like, you would say, like, Albert, Albert isn't great, Albert isn't great.
Starting point is 00:24:58 Like, he is great. Like, he's one of the best players of all time. And it's a really dumb thing to, you know. Yeah. Boo Albert. Should we get into baseball? Baseball chatter here, Andy? I mean.
Starting point is 00:25:13 How you compared Pujol's stats as a cardinal and as an angel? He's way better as a cardinal. Yeah. He's basically, like, he's not garbage as an angel, but. He, like, he... I would have been to. He's not... He wasn't worth the signing the money.
Starting point is 00:25:36 He aged really quickly. And there's a video from one of my favorite creators, Foolish Baseball. He's really, really good. And he takes, like, kind of like an S-NES, like, aesthetic and likes doing these, like, baseball essays that are like very analytical but approachable and he has humor and i love his background music and he did one about albert pull holes which is it kind of chronicles his decline
Starting point is 00:26:10 and i'll send it to you it's that it's really good can't wait to read that andy it's all you ivan it's a video it's a video so i read i read the close captions on videos andy well i'm glad because it'll stick better. It's like reading a or a subtitled movie. Speaking of reading, I counted how many books I've read this year.
Starting point is 00:26:37 Can you guys take a guess? 1337. No. I've been reading a book a week for this whole year. So 52? No. I read, I think, 12 books.
Starting point is 00:26:52 Yesterday I finished my 12 books. Oh, I thought you, sorry. I thought you meant like since, like, One of my New Year's resolutions was to read more. So I've been reading every single day. And I'm surprised how many books I've read three months. It's crazy.
Starting point is 00:27:13 I've tried to take up reading more as well. I've slacked off a bit in 2021. But like late 2020, I was reading more than I ever have had, which isn't a lot. But, you know, like reading zero. books a year than reading like three books within a period of three months that's a you know kind of a huge huge increase go on andy sorry i i don't think about baseball so i just like immediately tuned down oh this is not no this is oh books books sorry my books yeah okay iven real quick books wise what kind of books are you reading how big are these books chapter count page count are we
Starting point is 00:27:58 talking like harry potter size or or talking about like i don't know like uh I can't think of anything that's a small book. Small book for little word reads. Or like goosebumps. There go, yeah, Guzstan Bears. No, Bernstein Bears is like a picture book. You don't really read those books. I mean, you read them, right?
Starting point is 00:28:18 I mean, it's technically a book, and I mean, Poppy has a kid, so I don't know if he's Oh, that's true, yeah. Maybe he's counting the Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar. Eric Carl or, um, that's it? jump over the moon, cow jump over the moon. Corderoy? So to answer Genesis' question, I read two types of books. In the morning, when I'm drinking my coffee, I like to read nonfiction books.
Starting point is 00:28:50 Lately, I've actually been reading. Dennis is going to laugh. But remember how I keep talking about this hyperactive hive mind stuff? Oh, my God. I've been reading a couple of books about that from this author. called Cal Newport. So I've read Digital Minimalism,
Starting point is 00:29:08 Deep Work, and currently reading a world without email. Very interesting stuff, Dennis. You just check it out. A world without email sounds lovely. Yeah, and say I pray for a real without email.
Starting point is 00:29:20 I tell you, I have no time. Like, dude, don't send me an email. I don't read emails. Send it through Slack. Or even, so this guy, Cal Newport, his whole thing is not just email. It's literally like just all the communication
Starting point is 00:29:33 overload that we're going through right now. Like email, the type of communication that email is is literally the same thing as Slack, which is just instantaneous ad hoc messaging where it's pretty much impossible to keep track of your projects and tasks, but at the same time, it also makes it impossible to just unplug and do your work, basically. So I don't know, it's an interesting step to me because as someone who not only uses all these different tools for work, you know, to communicate with my coworkers. I also have to use these tools to communicate with the community. So it does become overwhelming when it's just nonstop
Starting point is 00:30:13 DMs all day, basically people asking you questions, people telling you things are urgent, people complaining. I can relate to that because I have basically four outlets of communicate, five that are used for work. email, Discord, Slack, Twitter, and texts. And, like, with Discord, because I'm in a bunch of servers, and it's hard. I try to mute as many notifications as I can, but it can get overwhelming on Discord because, like, people send you messages through DMs, but also they might ping you in a server. then I was watching that documentary, the social dilemma, and I was like, yeah, I'm going to turn off notifications.
Starting point is 00:31:07 That's what, did I, I haven't turned on notifications on my phone? Probably since I worked at NZT, man. Yeah, I got to turn those things off. I turned them off, but then I was missing Slack messages. So I was like, well, I got to turn at least Slack back on. But I at least turned off Twitter. I think it's hard for us, too, because, like, we work on, teams that sometimes we need to be available like at a moment's notice, right?
Starting point is 00:31:34 Like if it was like, you know, like, for example, the, uh, just, just like, just like, you know, just a random example, uh, the BLM stuff, right? Like, we, we did that like, like, like, that night, you know, like, we weren't like, you know, I'm, I'm going to say it was a reactionary, but it was, it was definitely like, hey guys, things are going on, you know, like, it's not really great out there. We should probably say something, right? Just, just to get some word out to sort of some support. And, like, I'm like, like, okay, you know, so we all buckle down at like 8 or 9, like, PM, you know, we wrote this message. We sent it around people.
Starting point is 00:32:05 Everyone thought it looked good. We signed off on it and we threw it up, right? You know, or like, you know. But in that scene, that's an instance where that type of messaging probably comes in handy because. Yeah. You got to get everyone like in sync really fast and, you know, no one's in person. And yeah, like Slack channel. But when it's when it's all day long and it's nonstop.
Starting point is 00:32:27 Oh, for sure. It's like overwhelming because everyone that's messaging you expects an answer relatively quick, right? Like if I send a Slack message to Dennis and he doesn't reply to me like within a couple minutes, I'm like, what the heck is this guy doing? Why is he not responding to me? You know? And same thing with anyone. Like anyone that messages me, like if I don't respond like in a couple minutes, they're like, what is I been doing?
Starting point is 00:32:55 You know, how come he's not responding to my message? He's reading books on his armchair near the fire with a copy. But the argument that this guy, Cal Newport, makes is interesting because his whole thing is like, not everything is urgent. Not everything demands your immediate attention. It's okay to turn off your notifications. It's okay to not take your phone everywhere. It's okay to just, you know, open up a notebook and write in it in the middle of the day if it's going to help you do your job. Like we don't always have to be in this constant connected thing.
Starting point is 00:33:25 which like I said I'm always connected I have to be connected but I'm just trying to disconnect you're just trying to use technology a little bit more wisely because I don't I don't I don't I don't like being a slave to it man but anyway too sorry real quick to answer your other question the other part of your question Dennis at night I like to read fiction and currently reading some Charles Bikowski. I know who that is. Continue, Andy. Sounds awesome.
Starting point is 00:34:00 Also with the amount of notifications that you get, it comes like with a boy who cried wolf. So you see a bunch of people and they could be talking about like nothing. And you're like, oh, okay, I don't really need to be here. But then once like the actual urgent
Starting point is 00:34:15 stuff happens, you sometimes you just don't you're not as timely as you could have been because you're like oh just another slack message no one's really saying anything of consequence then all sudden like you may miss something urgent and then you see like 50 bazillion slack message you're like oh oh no sorry about that yeah i think that this this is a conversation that we've had with our team about like how we fit not fixed but how we how we improve our communication and i think uh a lot of
Starting point is 00:34:52 it also has to do with like the channels that we're in how this messages how the messages are being delivered you know like maybe we just need like a channel that's like for marketing team emergencies right and we just when something happens that we all need to be aware of we spend that channel but it was like a DM I was going to assume we just want to say hi and then I'm going to like ignore it until like I get back on next time you know yeah here's the here's the other thing about this whole like constant communication that's interesting is number one Humans did not evolve to basically live this way. You don't know.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Like our brains were like it developed in a way that forced us to think. That's why like a lot of the great thinkers, like the philosophers, you know, like Socrates and all these people like that. But they, the way that they would actually do their work wasn't by sitting in front of the computer and chatting on Slack. It was like they would literally go on. walks, like walks. They would walk like eight hours a day and just think. And then when they were done thinking, I'm pretty sure no one has ever walked around for eight hours a day and just,
Starting point is 00:36:01 just thunk Ivan. Yeah, Charles Darwin, dude. And he was notorious for that. Okay. Yeah, but he's the exception that proves we're right. Well, most people, okay. Socrates walked for 20 hours. Socrates thought, I'm like, well, of course, that's literally his thing.
Starting point is 00:36:16 He was a philosopher. He thought. I mean, that's, I mean, the whole point is like this is how the human brain. functions, right? It's like supposed to think it's like it's not supposed to have a constant stream of inputs all day long, right? That's that's the point. So that's number one. And number two is apart from the human brain not developing that way, nobody ever once agreed that this was the best way to work. It just happened. It was just like someone invented email. Okay, we're going to use email. Someone I meant to Slack, we're going to use Slack. Someone I went to
Starting point is 00:36:50 Discord. We're going to use Discord. someone who met to Skype, we're going to use Skype. It was never once, like, agreed upon or decided upon by, like, people who use these things that, yeah, this is actually a good, a good way for us to work. It was just kind of, like, invented, and then we were told we got to use it. Same thing with, like, social media, like, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, all these different social media sites. No one ever really thought, like, oh, this is something. that it's something like good or bad. It was just kind of like, oh, this exists.
Starting point is 00:37:26 So I'm going to use it because I get some benefit from it. You know, like that benefit could be, well, that's how I keep in touch with my high school friends. Or this is how I see status updates from my coworkers, girlfriend's cousin. I want to see their baby, you know, things like that. Like this is just like a thing that we do without really thinking about it. So it's,
Starting point is 00:37:53 I recommend you guys look into the hyperactive I have mine some more. I am going to not. I'm going to continue on this way until my brain melt and I can no longer function. So B-5-50, that's how you feel, man. That's why I'm reading these books. You know, what also is really hyperactive, Ivan, all the sick features in the N-ZXT-N-7, B-5-50 AMD motherboard. Yes. I always end up on these really weird, like, existential tans.
Starting point is 00:38:23 tangents. Because you ask me questions. Yeah. When you're walking eight hours a day? No. What happened is that I've been, Andy said something and then you're like, hey,
Starting point is 00:38:35 let's start talking about baseball. Then from baseball goes to like books and then from books to how we're all destroying ourselves with technology. It kind of ends up there some way. Speaking of technology, let's talk about some other technology that will destroy you,
Starting point is 00:38:50 our N7B550. that really should have been that should have been on the banner this motherboard will destroy you thoughts opinions guys good tag tag good copy yeah book it all right I'm doing it right now
Starting point is 00:39:06 doing it on some Facebook and Twitter ads so Andy you said that the reception's been pretty positive what have you been hearing about this board that it's I think the best analogy
Starting point is 00:39:22 for it is you know how Mario in Mario sports games, his stats are just all around? Yes. It seems like from what I've read so far, that it's just a good all-around board. Okay. You don't need it for,
Starting point is 00:39:42 if you're not going to overclock extremely or need like super high performing, like super enthusiast level stuff, you know, this isn't the board for you, but... You really wouldn't be, like, overclocking an AMD board, uh, AI, uh, AMD chip, right? Like, it's... You can't overclock. They're all overclockable. Like, it's my understanding that, like, um, that it's not really as beneficial, right?
Starting point is 00:40:11 As, like, if you would, it's like, if you would want to. Right, okay. For, like, the people who would want to, you know, just do extreme overclocking and whatnot. Um, um, you know, you know, know this isn't the board for you, but if you just want a solid board that will look really good in your system and provide you with basically all that you need, this is this is the board. So who is this motherboard for, Andy? If you were to say the customer or the person who should be looking at this, what would you, what would you say?
Starting point is 00:40:51 It's for people who just want to get a clean looking build and just kind of max out on our aesthetic. Because like once it's in our case, it like, it pairs so well. Especially the black one because it kind of disappears into the background of the case, we'll call it. And it just, it just make it it doesn't scream. like, RGB, like, I'm a gamer.
Starting point is 00:41:26 Like, it's, you know, it's just, it's a very clean, um, aesthetics focused board. You know what does scream
Starting point is 00:41:34 on the gamer? A bunch of holes in front of your computer. That's what screams your gamer. And we don't scream that we're gamers. We silently suggest that we're a gamer with a little bit of class. So I would say. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:49 And it looks like a really good board. Um, I, like, if I, looking into building a ridiculous amount of USB ports. Sorry, I'm just looking at the images right now.
Starting point is 00:41:58 The rear I-O? Yeah, it's a lot. It's like a ridiculous amount. You'll never run out of ports with an NGXT motherboard, regardless of it's aimed at. Because we have three internal USB 2.0 ports.
Starting point is 00:42:19 And, you know, if you have like a crack-in, and what else the RGB fan controller even though you wouldn't really need it because this has built-in RGB fan controller functionality
Starting point is 00:42:33 but you know what I mean like if you won't really run out with this board you won't I would be impressed if you ran out I think for someone to run out of ports with this board they would probably need
Starting point is 00:42:46 an EATX case that has like at least 21 RGB fans. We need a lot, yeah. Yeah. Is it just one port under for for RGB?
Starting point is 00:43:02 Yeah, two RGB. Okay, so yeah, so it's basically, it's basically like our fan hub thrown into the board, eh? Yeah, and you can all control it through cam. That's another benefit too, because... Okay, here's a question.
Starting point is 00:43:14 Some other boards, with the built-in fan headers, you don't have digital control always, but with doing it through cam you can easily change your fan curves if you're like hey my PC's too loud
Starting point is 00:43:28 I want to shut it up then you can just shut up computer you sometimes you're like randomly your fan curves will just ramp up for no reason and then you're just like no I don't want that right now I just I don't want to hear my fan noise at all but when you're gaming
Starting point is 00:43:44 you could just he's like all right I want performance mode you know max out the fans if you want and then just, you know, have your headphones on so you don't really hear it. But your whole house will. All right, so here's the question, Andy. Let's say,
Starting point is 00:44:00 there's something that I complained about before, right? The X3 series on the Crackens, right? There's no in-device fan controller on that, on that pump, right? Which is something that I have very sad that we don't have, and hopefully we'll bring it back, right? But let's say I have an X-53 or an X-63 and I want to control my fans, right, that are plugged into my radiator,
Starting point is 00:44:25 I cannot do it through cam without having to go through my bios, correct? So if you just had without, that was the only MZXT part you had, you would have to go through the bios, yes. Really? So I still can't do it through cam. Just within X, just with an X, just with an X. X-63 and that is the only NXD part you have, correct? Right, but I mean, if I have the new
Starting point is 00:44:54 N7 board, right? Then you can control it through Cam. Okay, cool, cool, yeah. Because that's something that I hear a lot and, you know, now, I'm not saying that I'm going to suggest to people, hey, I can't control my fans through Cam on my, on my X63. I'm not going to tell them, go buy a $200
Starting point is 00:45:09 motherboard, right? But, you know, that, if you're planning ahead, right, you know you're going to get that board or if you know you're going to get that cooler and you're thinking about a board you might want to start considering the N7s then, right? Yeah, but if you already have a board, the RV fan controller will do the job for you too.
Starting point is 00:45:30 You just plop it in, and then you get the ability to control it through cam. And it's like 20 bucks, so it's relatively affordable. So you don't have to buy a whole new motherboard. What if I had a H-510 Elite, and it had the new N7 board and it had a crack in X
Starting point is 00:45:49 53, 63. How much RGB can I throw on that sucker? A lot. Have we done the math yet? There's four ports. NZT ports plus the two non-NZXT ports on the N7, I believe. Okay, so we have
Starting point is 00:46:09 two connectors on the board. You have two on the smart device, so that's four, and then they have one other RGB lane in the crack in itself. Oh, yeah, that's right. That's a ridiculous amount of RGP. That's what I mean.
Starting point is 00:46:25 Like, for someone to run out of space with this motherboard or any NGXC motherboard for that matter, it's like, you need to do a lot. Yeah. I mean, I would be really impressed. Yeah. That's an idea for a sponsored video, Andy.
Starting point is 00:46:41 The, the RGB overkilled and ZXT Cam only build. You should do it. Stay tuned. Yes, stay tuned. Hopefully that will come to fruition. I'm going to suggest it right now,
Starting point is 00:46:59 just so people can see. I think have any of the reviewers that we've sent the board to, have they talked about and used and like showing off the like just all the headers on the thing? Because like I'm really curious, like, like if someone's actually shown like just how all this stuff kind of works together
Starting point is 00:47:20 um stay stay tuned i think there's one coming hey let's go i don't know it should be coming soon um but i'll i'll just say that so far all right who's your favorite review randy they're all my children no i mean everyone is really chill like i i don't i mean everyone is really chill like I enjoy working with everyone. People in this industry are generally very easy to work with. Like, I was on an Intel stream earlier this week. I thought you weren't on the stream. Huh?
Starting point is 00:48:02 I thought you weren't on it. Oh, so I was. What? I was. I was. Because I'm very confused. I ended up being on. Okay, got it.
Starting point is 00:48:17 Yeah. But, you know, Robitech and Christopher E. were there. And, you know, like, I enjoy working with those two, and it was nice to see him in person. Because I haven't met Roby before in person. And I haven't seen Chris since TwitchCon. But, you know, they're just, we were super-chilled dudes. And dudes. Judes.
Starting point is 00:48:41 not Beatles, drummers. It's just super chill Jews and we just talked about hardware and life and yeah. It was funny because that day, Andy told me in the morning oh, I'm going to be on the stream. I'm going to go to Santa Ana.
Starting point is 00:49:01 And then like the stream started and then he messaged and he said oh they don't need me anymore. And like, okay. And then like an hour later he's like, I'm going to be on the stream. What happened?
Starting point is 00:49:14 Are you just like waiting around there, Andy? You walking around Santa Ana? Yeah, basically. With my duck mask. Yeah, okay. Can we talk about that mask, Andy? Yes. All right.
Starting point is 00:49:27 What makes that mask better than the other mask? Because I got to say you look ridiculous in that mask, Andy. Ridiculously cool. So that mask is an N95. So it gets, you know, generally. generally the best protection or, you know, best protection from airborne particles, especially the virus.
Starting point is 00:49:55 The way it's designed helps you, it helps reduce glasses fog. Like, I don't mind wearing masks, but as a glasses person, it's really frustrating to have your glasses fog every 10th. seconds. But with that mask... It's getting foggy. With that mask, it reduces
Starting point is 00:50:20 glasses fog tremendously to the point where it does still happen, but it's like a four versus like a 10 on other masks. Like when I was talking to Rovi, I had my other mask on. I just brought that just to have, you know, spare mask.
Starting point is 00:50:36 And then like literally, literally... I was taking... Huh? And then you bumped into him because you couldn't see him? Pretty much. No, Lund was talking with him. I was like lifting up my glasses every 10 seconds because they're just fogging up. So it was nice. Then I'm like, I'm just going to switch this mask. So it's nice to see.
Starting point is 00:51:01 And I bought some fog spray with my new glasses and anti-fog spray, and it doesn't work. And I was really disappointed. You're the first person I seen wearing that mask. I found it on the wire cutter. Because they're saying it's the best N95 for that reason. Have you ever sucked in air really fast and then like sucked in the duck bill? Chilled out of the duck bill? No.
Starting point is 00:51:30 And then like blew the air really fast and blew out the duck bill? Just like it. No. Can you really? I'll give you notes next time I wear it. But it also, it's a really breathable mask. Like, I don't mind wearing masks, like I said, but you do feel less constrained wearing that. Isn't it weird how a year ago when everyone started wearing masks, at least me and my wife, we were like, that's so weird, we're not going to wear masks?
Starting point is 00:52:05 And then now it's just like common. Like, I'm not going to go anywhere without my mask. And even after I get vaccinated, even after the pandemic is over, I'm pretty sure I'm probably still going to be wearing a lot. masks for... Masks are going to be about our lives for a long time. I went to the
Starting point is 00:52:24 beach over the weekend just to get out of the house because I haven't really left since November. Since cases were going down and being in like an open space and wearing a mask, you're still
Starting point is 00:52:39 relatively safe. Then people were just like weren't wearing masks. Like more than I thought, like, more than I was like, I was surprised. Was it Huntington Beach? Newport. Yeah, my sister, my sister lives in Huntington Beach and I'm going to go visit her not that long ago.
Starting point is 00:53:03 And yeah, like people on Huntington Beach, like, it seems like there's like no pandemic going on. They don't care. It's a little weird. I was kind of freaking out. I was like, why is there no one wearing mask? why is no social distancing why are they eating inside yeah like it was
Starting point is 00:53:22 it was it was a little shocking to see and it in like you get you it's like we're all we all have been traumatized by what's been going on because it's awful
Starting point is 00:53:34 and yeah like you know masks do a good job of protecting you but it's just it's so weird seeing being near people without them now. I did read this article that claimed that the virus is basically destroyed in UV light. So if you're outside in the daytime without a mask and not socially distancing, it's a little bit safer apparently than if it's nighttime and indoors and you're not wearing a mask and social distancing.
Starting point is 00:54:11 But I have no idea that's true or not. I don't even remember where I read it. Probably read it on some stupid Reddit post or something. Nothing scientific, nothing official probably. Just follow the CDC guidelines. Yeah, exactly. I don't know what's true or not. I just wear a mask.
Starting point is 00:54:31 I'm definitely used to it now. Yeah. Yeah, things are looking better. Most of my family has gotten vaccinated. I started doing this new thing where I stick my tongue out of people when I'm wearing a mask. Oh, I... You do that too? Well, like, the weird thing is, like, I, like, pull on my mask.
Starting point is 00:54:55 Or, like, I, like, I, like, I, like, I, like, I, like, contort my mouth differently. And then I do normally because it's, like, like, I don't know. It's, like, having a retainer, you kind of, like, play with it. So, like, I somewhat play it with the inside of my mask, with my, like, chin. Like, like, I don't know. It's weird And I don't know why I do it Here's a question
Starting point is 00:55:18 How often do you guys wash your masks? I don't have Washable mask I just use the Like the disposable ones I have a mixture of both But I've been I've been using those duckbell masks
Starting point is 00:55:36 And he washes his duckbell mask By like just dumping his head in the lake And he's like shaking it really fast Yeah, I just hang out with my peers. It's like, when I go, when I eat, when I eat lunch, it cleans it out for me. You know, getting some nice fish or tadpoles or whatever ducks eat. Speaking of eating lunch, like they just opened up like indoor dining in LA County last week, I think it was, or two weeks ago. And yeah, me and my wife were super excited because we,
Starting point is 00:56:13 One of our favorite things to do is go out to eat. It's like pizza Friday, right? Yeah, well, we order pizza every Friday, but one of our other favorite things to do is to just go to a restaurant and eat, like, at least once a week. Usually, like, on the weekends, that was our thing. But we haven't done that, like, in a year. So last week, we actually did that.
Starting point is 00:56:32 We went to one of our favorite restaurants. Shout out to the chicken coop in October. You're going to say domestic. No. Well, that's another one of my favorite restaurants. But I miss domestic so much. This is so good. But I did this weird thing where I haven't been to a restaurant in such a long time,
Starting point is 00:56:50 and I'm so used to wearing a mask that I actually took a sip of my drink while wearing my mask. And it got all over my mask. Oh, my God. Yeah, I was like, well, I guess I'm wearing a mask now. I'm used to wearing a mask. I went to pick up food over the weekend at a restaurant, and I kind of forgotten about that rule. being lifted a bit. So when I walked in, there was people eating,
Starting point is 00:57:17 and they were spread out, but still it was just like, it was like kind of terrifying. It was like, what? They're not wearing masks? And they're indoors, like, oh. I judge anyone who doesn't wear a mask, like at all.
Starting point is 00:57:33 Like, if you're not wearing a mask, I automatically just think you're being a Karen. TB. Or you automatically do you stick. Well, no, because there's like so much evidence out there that supports that like wearing a mask is not restrict your you're breathing at all right like doctors do it all the time you know i've heard of different people in different professions who already have a face covering who don't have an issue wearing a mask so you know i think that there is a very
Starting point is 00:57:59 very very very small so many people who who can't but the majority are just like it's like it's like it's like people who like strap on like a service animal vest on their dog right and you can tell that dog ain't trained at all right like it's not trained to do anything other than just run around and like poop and pee and stuff, right? I, like, you just, just, just, just, just, you know, it's not hard. The, the sooner you wear a mask, the sooner you don't. Exactly. And then we can, you know, be normal.
Starting point is 00:58:30 And then wear them again. And then wear them again once the next pandemic hits in like, you know, 100 years. It's going to happen again. It's going to happen again. It's just the way of the world, you know? Yeah. But one thing I'm excited for, and I think back to my most talk topic, is to actually go to a baseball game.
Starting point is 00:58:51 Like, I know they're opening up Dodgers Stadium to like 25%. Burr, I'm so close to Angel Stadium. I can walk over there. I just want to go. He said baseball. So, Dodgers. Yeah. Well, you know, like.
Starting point is 00:59:03 A reigning World Series champ. You know, I go there when the Dodgers play. It basically becomes Dodgers Stadium. Yeah, pretty much. Yeah, dude. It's like, it's just like a sea of blue. You know, it's funny, like, when the, um, back to the TwitchCon, the Dodgers were playing, like, as I was getting in.
Starting point is 00:59:22 So I went to a game. And, like, on the train, it was, like, filled with Dodger fans. And, like, it was a day game in the middle of the week. But there was just, like, way, way, way more Dodger fans. But this is before the Padres were good, too. So the Padres are never good. All right. But they're going to be really good.
Starting point is 00:59:42 this year. We got to move on because we're coming on time, Andy. Don't mean to cut you off. But we got a couple of community questions. Not too much about the board, honestly. I think it's because the board is so amazing and our spec page is so well written. We did a good job explaining it. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 01:00:00 That people have zero, zero questions. Tipa wants to know, though. How many messages did it take for the B550 to finally get made? One million. You send us a million? Honestly, that's a group. That's a pretty good question because I'm not exaggerating when I say people have been asking that question for years. And when I say years, I mean, literally the entire time I worked at NZXT.
Starting point is 01:00:27 And even before we made motherboards, people have been asking us to make A&D motherboard. So if I had to take a guess at the amount of messages, you know, thousands of them. it's never a guarantee but I mean the feedback helps because you know
Starting point is 01:00:47 it's like if people want it you know except for mesh except for mesh that's never going to happen that's never going to happen we've had chats about it it's never going to happen
Starting point is 01:00:58 um other than that I think it's really pretty much shit boardwise um we're running on time here so if you guys want to ask a question off the air
Starting point is 01:01:07 please send an email to Clubcast at nzicc.com. We had a couple of announcements, which is why we kind of want to cut this off a little bit. Ivan, would you like to go through the community roundup announcements? Why so? Sightonle. All right. So first announcement here, obviously,
Starting point is 01:01:27 talking about our motherboard. So go to ncht.c.c.com slash n7-B550, check out our new A-MD motherboard. Next piece of announcement here is if you want to read something that is not a product description page or a product feature page, you just want to hear a little bit more personal take on the motherboard and why we made it, check out the blog, blog.nzxc.com. Next announcement here is that we do have the Pucci's Pals. Dennis, do you have the link for the app?
Starting point is 01:02:07 Are we still accepting apps? Yeah, we always are. Where's Keel small? He always has all the links. I was going to let him do it. Okay. If not, then I guess you can just bug the mods until they issue you a warning.
Starting point is 01:02:26 Same thing with the Pucci's professors. There we go. If you're interested in being a professor and want to help people on the server, please apply to that. Thank you, Hyper, and I think Small also drop the link in there. We're also actively still accepting moderator applications, so please apply to that. Hyper, please drop the link.
Starting point is 01:02:54 And then last but not least, we still have our, we're actually, email contest just ended a couple days ago, but you can still vote. So go to the emo contest channel and you can vote by just reacting with a purple
Starting point is 01:03:09 heart emoji on your favorite on your favorite design and the most important piece of news I say for last if anyone and I do mean anyone
Starting point is 01:03:23 wants to get more of Andy you can go listen to his podcast and I'm going to drop the link tree in the chat I appreciate that. Link. Tr.e.
Starting point is 01:03:36 Slash roll re-roll. Our third episode just dropped yesterday. Do you what I'm going to do? For the podcast, like, tweet that we do on Sundays, I'm going to say Andy from critically acclaimed podcast role slash re-roll. Yeah, tag him on Twitter. Give Andy that, give Annie that cloud. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:56 And Andy, you have to have Dennis and I on your podcast at least the same amount of times we've had you on our podcast. It's only fair. It's a lot harder to produce our podcast, but we'll see what we can do. Hey, just, you guys are roleplayers, so just pretend it's easy. There you go. There you go. There you go. And
Starting point is 01:04:16 Dennis and I can role play as well. I'll be Dennis and it'll be Ivan. The character I play in this campaign is her name's Salem. And she's basic, she used to have a TV show on Discovery Travel
Starting point is 01:04:32 called Ghost Patrol but Oh, I used to watch that Yeah, it's a very popular show for her time slot and she doesn't do it anymore
Starting point is 01:04:45 and works at her family agency and she's a little bit of a diva but has a generous heart It's kind of like you in real life diva but a generous heart Yeah I tried playing Dungeons and Dragons one time
Starting point is 01:04:57 and I think it was like 30 years ago my friends in the third grade were like super into dungeons and dragons and I used to watch him play and then one day they invited me to play and they said we'll go to your house after school we'll bring the dice and the books and all that and I still remember the kids name his name was chaz shout out to chas if you're listening man um anyway he comes over and this guy chaz it was chas and david to the two guys they were like they were kind of kind of like the weird kids in my elementary school because they were into heavy metal.
Starting point is 01:05:35 So like those weird metal heads. Yeah. Like they basically were like Beavis and Butthead. Like they would all be wearing like mega death shirts or things like that. You know, I think they even had like their ears pierced. And this is, you know, back in like the 80s when it wasn't like that common for like a little kid to have his ears pier. So my mom, you know, she gets home from work. And then she sees me on in the.
Starting point is 01:06:01 front yard with this like book in the middle of us and like we're all sitting in a circle and she sees like these weird dice and little figurines and she freaked out man she thought she thought I was like doing some sort of like satanic ritual with these kids so she's like you're not playing this game in my house and basically forbid me from playing dungeons and dragons and to this day I have not played dungeons and dragons so when I go on that podcast I'm definitely going to be something satanic, Andy. You know, I... One of the characters I played in the past,
Starting point is 01:06:35 it was a vampire satyr and his name was Vampirno. And then I was just randomly go, I need to feed. Then I had an ability where I could just jump really high. It was a really weird character. But I would just go around going,
Starting point is 01:06:55 I need to feed and try to... My name. Instead of Vampiro, it'll be Van Pappy. Van Pappy. I love it. But, yeah. We're playing fun. Yeah, and one campaign I was, I'm a changeling.
Starting point is 01:07:13 And that's really fun because I just be where the heck I want. Yeah, I'm going to tune for sure, for sure this weekend, Andy. Like I said, I subscribed. You have to catch up. Yeah, I just, I wanted to do it last weekend, but got cut up with some other stuff. Yeah, we have a really cool theme song, too. My friend Ilnij is his name on YouTube. He's a really good musician, and he does a lot of, like, Pokemon songs, and we commissioned him to write us a theme song, and he did it all.
Starting point is 01:07:48 And he just randomly, when he was, like, deciding to write the theme song, he's like, what do you guys think about third wave ska? And we're like, just do it, dude. And he did it, and it's awesome. Skah, huh? Okay. Third wave. Third wave. I don't know what that means, but it's better than the first two waves.
Starting point is 01:08:10 What was the second wave? Like real big fish? I'm not an escassianado. It's a Bob's Berger's quote. So I can't tell you. The only ska band I really know is suburban legends, I guess. I guess third wave is actually real big fish. So I don't know what the heck the second or first wave.
Starting point is 01:08:35 Maybe there isn't. There's a third wave. Alan, the residence skanker in the server just confirmed. Third wave is 90s. Yeah. He's in a Scassionado then. No. I am not, unfortunately.
Starting point is 01:08:53 Not because I don't want to be. I just, I don't know. Too much music and stuff to listen to. Agreed. All right. Andy, do you have any parting words for our lovely community? Anything you want to leave us with? Any brain nuggets that you got?
Starting point is 01:09:18 I watched a video about how stars got mapped, and it's pretty cool. It blows your mind. It uses Pythagorarium theorem and a bunch of people in the 1910s. calculating distances and looking at brightness not that long ago yeah
Starting point is 01:09:41 and then it's yeah I don't know check out that video how the stars were mapped it's always sad to know that like when you look at a cool thing in space
Starting point is 01:09:52 they have photos of that it's probably not there anymore it's probably well it's like well because like let's say the nearest star it's like I don't know let's say
Starting point is 01:10:04 300 light years. So it's just a 300-year-old picture. So it was, that's what, I don't know, what's 300 years ago, like 2000, the 1700s. So, like, you know, during the revolutionary times. Yeah, like, like, I just learned, like, apparently if you look at the pillars of creation, and you can Google it,
Starting point is 01:10:24 it's like a very classic space image. Apparently, due to, like, time and space and stuff, the pillars of creation don't exist anymore. I believe that's what it is. They're just like not there. Like just, you know, like billions or whatever of light years away. We caught you this image, but it's not a thing anymore. Like, oh, that sucks.
Starting point is 01:10:44 Like maybe one day I wanted to go see it if we ever managed to, you know, achieve faster than light travel, which apparently according to our current technology will, like, never be able to achieve. Like, that's just like the current block that we have. Honestly, like, figure something out really crazy and become, like, insanely spacefaring. but yeah. So just a little bit of sadness for your day there about physics and stuff. Yeah. Space videos are great.
Starting point is 01:11:11 And I've been watching a bunch because of the rover. Yeah. And that's a whole basis of like Mass Effect, right? Like the mass relays allow us to do faster than Light Chauver or something like that. But they're like ancient tech, right? Yeah, yeah. Mass Relay, Mass Effect. And they don't.
Starting point is 01:11:32 we don't know, like, is it like, I don't remember, I haven't played it. It's like the creators or whatever. Is that a thing? The Perthians. Yeah, that's what it was. Let me see here. Did they build the Citadel and, and like. And he's a reptilian.
Starting point is 01:11:47 Okay. So, so it is that we do have faster than light travel in Mass Effect, but the mass relay allow us to basically do these really long journeys that would take other years or centuries only using FTL drives, which is faster than light drive. So there we go. It's just like a slingshot. Yeah, pretty much, yeah. A mass, I don't know why I'm reading the mass effect lore now. Mass relays functioned by creating a virtually mass-free corridor of space time between each other. This can propel a starship across enormous distances that would take centuries to traverse, even at Ftl speeds. Okay, so I guess, I guess, I guess, okay, so I guess you still need to achieve
Starting point is 01:12:25 faster than light travel before we could potentially find ancient alien tech to propel us across the galaxy universe. Well, if there's a Prothian mass relay in the Khyber belt, maybe Voyager 2 can find it.
Starting point is 01:12:43 Do you imagine if it was like the rover on Mars he's like doing its thing and he sees this giant thing? That would be a name, isn't it? Like the world would literally change, you know? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:57 Well, also, that'll be like a world changing event. The Voyager spacecraft, we like put like a thing that like a plaque that like tells us it tells whoever finds it about like humanity and like pictures it shows like a human on there and there's like a record that's made out of gold that has stuff on earth on it. I think you can listen to that record somewhere on SoundCloud or I think but it and like it shows a picture of Earth and I think it gives a map of our solar system.
Starting point is 01:13:29 imagine it's interesting and a link to your podcast and the link to my podcast you know that's what Carl Sagan wanted you're like you know listen to roll re-roll it's a good time
Starting point is 01:13:44 where Andy where an andimus Prime and crew find a mass relay in an ancient temple and propel themselves to a new universe filled with only
Starting point is 01:13:56 Astros fans coming to you to a re-roll podcast close to you. Yeah. It's wherever fine podcasts are sold. Exactly. All right. With that, everyone, how that ended up there?
Starting point is 01:14:17 Oh, man. Thank you for joining us, Andy. Really appreciate it, buddy. I always appreciate coming on. And thank you to everybody who tuned in. Remember to tune in next week at Tenney M. Pacific Standard Time of the official NZXC Discord, faster than
