Starting point is 00:00:13 Hello, everyone, and welcome to episode 172 of the NZC podcast, the official podcast of the NZC community. This podcast is recorded live every Friday at 10 a half Pacific Standard Time on the official NXC Twitch and is available to stream on demand on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and SoundCloud. My name is Mike, and with me, as always, is Ivan. How you doing, Ivan? How it do, baby boo. Happy to be here, another podcast, episode number 172. It's going to be a fun one. We're going to talk about one of our favorite topics, TBH, which is working out.
Starting point is 00:00:47 I know Mike and I look like we don't work out, so we want to prove it to you. So we're actually going to do this podcast with our shirts off. All right. No, but we asked our Discord server earlier this week to give us their fitness tips. So we're going to talk about those, and then Mike and I are going to let you guys know what we do to stay fit. and then hopefully we'll give out some good advice. But before we get into that, I do want to quickly mention we got a couple of things going on.
Starting point is 00:01:19 So the first most important thing we got going on is our H6 giveaway is ending today. So the winner will be announced tomorrow. If you haven't entered that giveaway yet, go to nzxte.co slash H6 giveaway for your chance to win our new H6 Flowcase. which if you haven't seen it haven't heard about it you should google it check out the reviews it's amazing airflow so i know nzxte hasn't always been known for having amazing airflow but this case debunks that myth i guess you can say and then the other thing going on if you are tuned in live to twitch.tv.tv.m.tv.m.m. type exclamation giveaway in the chat you will be get you'll get a
Starting point is 00:02:10 link to another giveaway we got going on and that giveaway will allow you to possibly win an NZXT hoodie NZXT t-shirt NZXT Lanyard or sticker pack and last but not least if you want to get involved with these podcasts and you know give us your your input like we are collecting today for example where we ask the community for fitness tips and whatnot join the Discord server Discord.g.g slash nzxte. We do a lot of fun stuff there. And that is right now the only real way to get poochie.
Starting point is 00:02:48 So everyone that asked us a question or submitted their fitness tips for this week's podcast, they entered into a raffle to win our little poochy plush mascot there. So yeah, Discord.org.g.g. slash NZXT, it's a good time. But yeah, anyway, now that the announcements are out of the way, without further ado, let's get into the fitness tips. Like I said at the start of the show, Mike and I, I'm not going to say we're fitness freaks, but we work out every day.
Starting point is 00:03:21 At the office here, we had a fitness challenge recently and our team name. It was a team challenge, and then Mike and I's team name was social media because I like to tell Mike that we're the Buffett's social media team in the in the PC hardware industry. Easily. Yeah. So Mike, what is your workout routine look like?
Starting point is 00:03:44 Yeah, that's actually the first one. We're going to talk about like, first we're going to give what we do as like people that tend to be relatively healthy and strong. And then we'll go into what people else like suggest and other things like that. So for my thing, it's it's very simple. I don't have like a strict thing. I just do upper body for. one workout and lower body for another and I basically just I don't really macro track uh I don't
Starting point is 00:04:13 really you know I kind of just the only reason why I mainly work out is because I want to eat because I love food um so that's mainly the the main thing so um but sorry I'm just reading the chat but uh that's basically main thing I don't do anything complicated I just try to work out at least four times a week. Upper, lower, break, upper lower. That's a good way to do it. I like to keep things simple too.
Starting point is 00:04:46 So what I do, I alternate between doing kettlebell swings and my exercise bike. So today, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, I'll do 100 kettlebell swings and 100 push-ups.
Starting point is 00:05:04 I'm like one punch man. You know, I'm just doing that stuff every day. And then Tuesday, Thursday, Thursday, and Fridays, I just hop on my exercise bike right when I wake up. It's the first thing I do when I wake up is make myself a quad shot of espresso. I know Mike's telling me to cut back, right? I do it anyway. And then I just start working out, man.
Starting point is 00:05:25 And the reason why I do that is because, you know, yes, I am a gamer, but I also, you know, work sitting down all day long. and if I didn't exercise in the morning, I would definitely not be healthy. And I'm not saying like I'm trying to be like Mr. Universe or anything like that. I literally just want to be able to not have back problems, you know, be able to chase my kids around and, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:01 just keep fitness atop of mind because like literally, when you're sitting at the computer all day long, it's super easy to just, you know, not move, start snacking on chips all day, drinking soda, and then you're done with work, and yeah, it's time to play games now. It's nighttime or whatever, and then you're sitting there again,
Starting point is 00:06:22 and it's not good for you. So that's the reason why we wanted to do this podcast is because, you know, the holiday seasons are here, basically, and people are going to be gorging, eating a ton of, of, junk food which you know I'm sure Mike and I are going to be participating in that as well oh yeah but that's also another reason why we we'd like to work out is just so we can you know do that stuff and not let it not let it be too too damaging for us so yeah I think it's
Starting point is 00:06:52 important for gamers or not even just gamers everyone but mostly people that sit at their computers a lot you got to get out there a move if you don't if you're just stationary you know it's not it's not going to be the best thing in the world for you and it will catch up with with you right mike yep uh i'm sorry i see kiro and the thing no that was uh oh that was for the 86 flow giveaway yes that is the code for it um oof-truth the do be hardest it's uh so hard to draw fitness i can relate especially over those COVID times really to get back into fitness yeah that's uh that was uh um i mean that's a that's a that's a pretty standard thing, especially with now remote jobs is a huge thing, remote schools of the thing,
Starting point is 00:07:41 you're not really walking to school, walking to work, or moving around as much. So we're just trying to hope that some of these things will be able to help you guys out with just some standard tips. I definitely packed on some pounds when the pandemic first hit. I think I got up to like, like 215 pounds, you know, which honestly, it's not super bad because I am somewhat tall. I'm 6 foot 2. But right now, I weigh 180 pounds,
Starting point is 00:08:11 which is basically what Mike weighs. And Mike, you're what? 4 foot 2? I'm 4-1. Excuse me. Yeah, it's like the COVID thing is real, man. Like, I feel like a lot of people... A lot of people got out of shape
Starting point is 00:08:32 for a bunch of different reasons. I mean, I remember seeing this meme. This guy was walking around. It wasn't even a meme. It was a TikTok video. This guy was walking around his neighborhood on trash day, just opening up all the trash cans. And it was literally just like alcohol cans and bottles and whatnot.
Starting point is 00:08:52 Like people just drinking, drinking because everyone's, you know, locked in. They can't go out. They're scared. They're frustrated. Nothing else to do. Like everything was closed. remember when you couldn't go anywhere so people were just drinking and all that stuff's not not good for you so
Starting point is 00:09:11 a lot of people gained weight a lot of people all of a sudden started working longer more hours because they're at the computer all day so it is it was a a very easy easy time for people to just let themselves go I did for sure yeah same with me yeah I definitely lost a lot of strength they used to be a rock climber before uh COVID happened. Uh, and then obviously all the gyms closed, so couldn't really do that much. But, you know, it's okay. Uh, uh, there's the idea the, that basically you, everyone, all you have to do is just
Starting point is 00:09:48 start. It doesn't matter when, but just start. And you just keep it going from there. But, uh, so for the, uh, for these, like, for the slideshow, I separate into three different sections. We have tips. We have, uh, challenges, which is like kind of like a fun thing for whenever you're gaming, some things that I included.
Starting point is 00:10:09 And then some questions at the end are related to fitness. So I guess we're going for the first one. Amid, do you want to start off the first one? Wait and Lee. So the first tip here is from Drew Kung Fu. Go to the gym at least four times a week, one and a half to two hours each day. Alternate the types of workouts for the days. For example, Monday, Wednesdays, arm, chest, and back, Tuesdays and Thursdays, leg days.
Starting point is 00:10:38 And I believe this is basically what you do, right, Mike? This is basically what I do. I, um, I do, instead of 1.5 hours, I basically go for, or sorry, inside two hours to do like one to 1.5 because I go, I wake up, I'm one of those build up at 6 in the morning, uh, to go to the gym, uh, because I don't want to wait for stuff. And I hate going in the evening, so it's so busy. Uh, but yeah, this is basically what I do. I do upper body, lower body.
Starting point is 00:11:01 I just make it super simple. So I do Monday, Tuesday, upper body, upper body, Tuesday, lower body, Wednesday, rest. Thursday, upper body, Friday, lower body. And then if I feeling it, I'll go some time during the weekend. So if I could get five times during the week, that's awesome. I used to go six times. I used to go, I only have one rest day.
Starting point is 00:11:24 And that's only if I'm feeling really, really sore. But this is what I usually do. And this is a great way for people to start. I separate into three different ways, which is like, just go to the gym, just do a full body workout. You know, you do like arms, legs, everything, just go to the gym, get started. Then you transition into the two section, which is upper and lower. And then after that, you'll do like the more advanced one, which is push, pull legs. But honestly, just start.
Starting point is 00:11:52 If you just start going to the gym, you're going to be much better after. Yeah, I would even simplify this further instead of going four times a week for, two hours and splitting your body between arm, chest, back, and legs. I would just go for 45 minutes, three days a week, like every other day, and just do full body
Starting point is 00:12:13 workouts and just do compound movement. So squats, deadlifts, bench press, and rows. Like, if you just do those and then push-ups and pull-ups, you're going to be more fit than like 99% of the people that are
Starting point is 00:12:29 walking around the world right now. And it's super simple. You know, they're easy movements. They're not, like, complicated. I think when you start splitting the exercises too much, you start doing weird exercises, you know, like trisip extensions over your head or one leg curls on the machine. Like, I mean, they're useful exercises, but at the end of the day, you really only need
Starting point is 00:12:56 to do those compound movements and you work out your whole body. It just makes things simpler. easier for people. And then once you get used to that and you know, you want to focus on certain body parts, then I feel like the split can be very beneficial for you. And I guess into the next one. This is more for gaming,
Starting point is 00:13:17 because this is more of an instance of gaming and working out. A lot of people introduce this. And honestly, I should be doing this. I, as someone that is very health conscious, I don't do this as much. but I think it's a great thing for people to do, which is taking active breaks from Sammy B. Forrin. Taking active breaks every one to two hours,
Starting point is 00:13:41 getting up for your chair, stretching, taking care of your body. I think everyone should at least do a couple stretches right now, you know, back stretches, get your posture fixed up, arms, do a little wrist movement, because I know carpal tunnel is a huge thing for gamers, especially under a mouse hand. So doing some wrist movements always helps to, I like doing the
Starting point is 00:14:02 roll so you go you go one way go the other switch switch and then you just do a couple of those back stretches neck stretches something like that
Starting point is 00:14:13 get your legs pumping I honestly should be doing this more often what I do actually there's a tip later actually I'll save on for a way to take these breaks by forcing yourself
Starting point is 00:14:25 to really do it but there's something about that later I feel like two hours is too long though I think in our gaming session, it's not terrible. But yeah, two hours maybe a little too long. Maybe like 45 to an hour, I think you should know. Yeah, but if you're sitting down at your computer for two hours by like
Starting point is 00:14:44 by the 90 minute mark, you're already sitting like a shrimp. Yeah. Your back is just like this, you know. I think every hour, like if you take a 10 minute break every hour, just walk around, get some water, go to the bathroom, go step outside for a second, you'll be good. Uh, a theme in the chat actually have a really awesome tip. And this is, this is probably one of the best things that I watched that kind of like got me into it.
Starting point is 00:15:11 It's a theme says, I just need to get back into the habit of working out again. It's really a habit in my opinion. Um, the one, there's, well, there's two ways. And I think some people are talking about in chat,
Starting point is 00:15:22 having someone to go with is always a great way. It's like, hey, let's go to the gym at six o'clock. Okay, let's go. Or, hey, I'm going to go gym after work. You want to come with. Great. Let's go after school or something like that.
Starting point is 00:15:33 That obviously having that accountability is amazing to have. But one of the best things that I saw, it's this guy, I forgot the name of him, but he was a Navy, Navy SEAL. And he basically talked about discipline and habit. You're thinking about Jocko? I think so. I think that was him. He talked about starting making your bed. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:56 Yeah. So that's what it is Jock. So he would talk about like, okay, you say one day you just make your bed. Why not? Just make your bed. Well, you did it yesterday. You might as well do it today. Then the next day happens.
Starting point is 00:16:07 So you did it for the past two days. You might as well do it for the third day. Yeah, you made it a week. You might as well try to hit two weeks. Oh, you made it three weeks. You should finish the month. And you continue that cycle. And it's basically the snowball effect.
Starting point is 00:16:22 Same thing with anything that you want to do, working out, playing the guitar or piano. It's you start off with basically starting. it just getting one time and then using that as leverage you know like for me what i'll do is like uh you know it's friday for us i'm tired work's been tiring i've been working out all week but i go you know i might as well finish the work the week straight you know i might as well finish it strong um and that's that's that's the best way to do it and that same philosophy applies to bad habits you know like if you're eating junk food every day you're sleeping in every day you're not
Starting point is 00:17:00 exercising every day, you're, you know, like smoking cigarettes every day or drinking booze every day, like those are just habits, you know, and the bad habits, they add up to make you worse and the good habits add up to make you better. And, you know, I'm, like, I don't feel like you should just go all in one way or the other. I think you got to find balance, you know. Oh, yeah. You got to, you know, work out. to eat pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, it's fine. But if you eat pumpkin pie every single day, what do you think is going to happen?
Starting point is 00:17:37 Mainly, these are mainly for good habits. Yeah, bad habits definitely, the sunk cost fallacy for a lot of stuff is awful. I mean, that's what happens a lot. It's like, well, you know, I didn't go to gym yesterday. I can wait. You know, using that as an excuse is not the right way. But definitely, if you need to do it,
Starting point is 00:17:53 use it more for healthy habits, definitely. Yeah. All right, what's the next tip? The next tip is from meyup. Buy an ergonomic chair. It's really great. I think this is a great tip. I don't know if gaming chairs are ergonomic,
Starting point is 00:18:12 but I am currently sitting on a gaming chair. It's actually the NZXT gaming chair. And I'll be completely honest. I'm not a huge fan of gaming chairs because I feel like they look like baby car seats. I don't really. think they look like race car seats. I think they,
Starting point is 00:18:32 I don't know why they try to make gaming chairs look like race car seats, but I feel like the time I see one, it reminds me of my daughter's car seat. I have an Amazon. I don't like how they look, but man, they're comfortable.
Starting point is 00:18:43 Like I have the pillow behind my neck, the pillow on my lower back. It keeps my posture straight. But like I said, I don't know if they're considered ergonomic, but it's definitely better than sitting on a stool or, you know, a chancer.
Starting point is 00:19:00 that's just not comfortable. You know, it's, I think, yeah, if you're going to, if you're going to sit in front of a computer for a long period of time, you should definitely invest in a good chair. Yep, I just have a simple one for Amazon. Got it on sale for like 150, 200 bucks. All you need is just something that can give you back support. A lot of office chairs, if you, you know,
Starting point is 00:19:24 if you have, like, a family that has, like, an office chair, they tend to be like very short like they'll look instead of going all the way up to your head they stop at like mid back you need to get the full back support into it um it just it this right here is probably one of the best things because you can there's some parts of this chair you can't see it but some can offer lumbar support you can change up the thing for your back really helpful um and they're not too expensive you don't have to get like a hervin miller hermillers are really expensive to really good but really expensive get one on sale for like black friday coming up for like 150 bucks or something like that from leo to nine one six eat healthy enough that you can keep
Starting point is 00:20:07 the balance between unhealthy and healthy food and do work out at home optional i think that's i mean yeah i mean there's a lot of people also have this idea that like you can only eat chicken and rice for the rest of your life like that i mean those are for like the extreme extreme people For me, oh my God, I do, I barely, I don't calorie track. I used to, but I don't do that anymore. Basically, the only thing I try to do is make sure I eat enough protein. So I have a protein shake every day if I work out. And then, you know, just eat enough protein throughout the day with like some sort of meat.
Starting point is 00:20:42 And then have at least a veggie and enough fruit smoothie. Yeah. That's it. And when it comes to eating, I remember reading this book about how you should like portion your food. So when you're eating, you know, forget about the food pyramid. Like that food pyramid,
Starting point is 00:21:04 that thing is so wrong. It's not good at all. Like they have, like the base of the pyramid is bread. Like, don't follow that pyramid. So like you said, you want a mixture of your meats, your veggies, your fruits, your healthy carbs, like, you know, rice and beans. and whatnot, but the easiest way to portion everything is you want the piece of meat to be roughly the size of your palm, and then you want the carbs or the vegetables to be the size of your fist.
Starting point is 00:21:45 So if you have like a plate, you know, you want to have a piece of meat that's like this, and then you want to have a scoop of veggies that's like this, and a, uh, a, a, a scoop of rice that's like this. And then that's like your portion control. Oh, I like that. Yeah. But it's all about balance too. Like, you know, I definitely eat healthy.
Starting point is 00:22:11 But, you know, like on a Friday night, my favorite thing in the world to do is to get a pizza and watch a movie. Oh, yeah. Like, I, like, that's a habit I have. It's just like every Friday, I buy a pizza and I watch a movie with my wife. and kids and it's all about balance so you know like Monday through Thursday we're we're eating very very healthy so yeah you got to you got to you got to you got to you know both here you can't just eat chicken and rice every single day like you said honestly I feel like I feel like another big thing that that people have to think about that as
Starting point is 00:22:48 well is is a serving size is it can be very different like it can be very different like it can be very, very different from what you think it is. Like, if you ever look on, like, at the back of your boxes and you, like, cereal, cereal is the biggest one. Like, if you go, you pour yourself a bowl of cereal and then, you know, you do your yourself. In reality, your serving is probably two to three of those serving sizes. Like, it's crazy.
Starting point is 00:23:16 You'll be like, oh, it's 300 calories for one serving. You're like, oh, easy. Pour yourself a bowl. Maybe pour yourself a second one. And in your head, you're like, oh, yeah, it's only 300 calories. No, you're probably hitting like a thousand calories off that because a serving size is like this much. Like if I actually did that once because I was coward tracking back in COVID. I like tested how much an actual thing is.
Starting point is 00:23:37 It's so little. Here, let's look, let's look up. Let me look up, yes. Actual serving size of cereal. Let me, let me show you guys like. You mentioned cereal. Serial is delicious, but it's also like, one of the worst things for you.
Starting point is 00:23:55 It's not healthy. And I'm not saying you shouldn't eat it. You know, I'm not a nutritionist. I just play one on social media. But it is not health food. It might look healthy, you know, because they, sometimes the packaging tricks you, but it's, it's a lot of, a lot of sugar in most of these things.
Starting point is 00:24:18 Yeah. Like, guys, like this, this right here. This bowl is probably a quarter filled. Like if you look at it from here, this is a quarter filled. This is one serving. Let me see. It's like a spoon. That's a spoonful.
Starting point is 00:24:34 Yeah. Literally like I, that's a, that's a spoon for me, you know. And you know, speaking of cereal too, you know, look at, look at where they put it in the grocery store, right in the middle. Everything that's in the middle of the grocery store, I would say 90% of it. if not more is not good for you. It's all processed foods. All the stuff that's around, like the walls of the grocery store,
Starting point is 00:25:02 what is it? Fruits, veggies, meat, all stuff that's good for you. So keep that in mind when you go grocery shopping. Like I said, I'm not a nutritionist. I'm not trying to tell you what to eat and whatnot, but if you're eating processed foods like cereal, and things like that, be very, very careful
Starting point is 00:25:26 because it can it can definitely do a lot of harm. From Itney Francie, is canned food good as a backup food for emergency? canned food is great because it lasts for a long time. However, the reason why it lasts for a long time is because there's a lot of either salt or preservatives in it, which does not make it healthy.
Starting point is 00:25:51 You know, have you ever noted whenever you get like fresh bread from like a bakery, like a real, real fresh bread of loaf. Fresh loaf of bread, bread of loaf. Fresh loaf of bread. The bread,
Starting point is 00:26:05 if they don't use preservatives, will only last you like two to three days before it starts to mold. If you get like bread from a grocery store, that's not, that's like in a plastic package. And that stuff can last like a week or two without it. The reason why it lasts that long is because of preservatives.
Starting point is 00:26:23 So, I mean, it is fine. It's not an awful thing to have canned food. Like, I loved me some, like, canned beans, like fried beans from it or, you know, chili or something like that from the can, but it's not healthy. I, I, I eat canned food with one exception.
Starting point is 00:26:39 I do not eat canned meat because I always think it's super weird to think about, like, how are they keeping this fish edible in a can? You know, that's why I don't eat tuna from a can. It drives my wife crazy because she loves tuna and things like that, but I just think it's weird or like spam or there's even chicken in a can. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:27:04 I don't trust that stuff for some reason. I know some people like spam. I love spam. Especially our Pinoy friends here. I even spam, it's good, but I just don't trust it. I think I mentioned this on the podcast before. I have a very, very strict rule with food is I never, I never, or I should say never. I try not to buy food from the same place I can buy the gas for my car.
Starting point is 00:27:40 And every time I go into a gas station, I see spam on the shelf. So I avoid it. Spam is amazing. If you try it, it's amazing. Especially if you do it in like a Musubi way, which is like rice, seaweed, like, or nuri and spam with some like sauce on it, it's amazing. 10 out 10. What about anchovies or sardines?
Starting point is 00:28:03 I like anchovies on pizza, but I don't like canned anchovies. Yeah. It's just the liquid makes it feel a little weird. All right. This tip comes from Fini Koneko. Stretch in between loading screens. Protein shakes are also really helpful without making a mess on the setup. And yeah, like, I'm a huge fan of protein shakes.
Starting point is 00:28:27 Speaking of processed foods, I'm sure protein has some sort of process stuff in there to keep it from spoiling. But it's a quick and easy way to supplement your diet, you know. Like, for me, personally, I really only eat one meal a day, which is dinner. And then breakfast and lunch, I have shakes. And I put a lot of healthy stuff in my food. shake not just protein I have you know tons of fruit I put granola berries something I put spinach in there things like that it's it's just a quick way to make sure you're you're getting nutrients into your in your system and for me I feel like it's also very
Starting point is 00:29:11 filling like if I have a shake in the morning like I'm not craving breakfast and you know it helps me not eat waffles and pancakes and bacon and eggs and all this stuff, which it's delicious, but it's also like a lot of calories and not always the healthiest options for you, right? So, yeah, I love the protein shake advice. And the other benefits of protein shakes is that it's much cheaper than food. Very. You can get a giant bag of protein for like $75 that will last you at least a month.
Starting point is 00:29:49 you know and that's like if you're drinking a couple of shakes a day so it's a really good tip yep i i was just saying protein shakes are amazing protein shakes are a great way to uh get your cat protein up there they're i mean obviously you can have too much protein but you know how it's bad to have too much sugar too much fat too many carbs protein is one of those things where it's really hard to get an unhealthy amount of protein because you can you can go up i mean there there's the thing of like you're supposed to get like almost a grab a protein per weight so if you weigh like for me i weigh 170 if you're if you have 170 grams of protein you're good um and protein shake can be like 30 count 30 40 of that alone so protein shakes great way and like i haven't said it kind of fills you up
Starting point is 00:30:44 and you don't have to just do like water and protein powder you can do like milk, peanut butter, fruit, spinach, stuff like that. You can make them taste good. Yeah. My morning shake is peanut butter. Well, I got protein, granola, peanut butter, banana, and milk. It's really, really good. I like that.
Starting point is 00:31:08 It's delicious. It's like a, it's vanilla. It honestly feels like I'm drinking a peanut sandwich. That's not good, honestly. Yeah, it's good. It's filling, too. I may make myself one soon. From Ian, my best advice for staying healthy as a gamer is to manage how many calories you intake daily, exercise daily, or every other day.
Starting point is 00:31:31 Nothing special. Go for a walk for 20 minutes or even doing like 50 sit-ups. Most importantly, hydrate, take breaks from staring your screen. A lot of people are talking about breaks, and honestly, I need to implement this. But one of the best things here is intake calories. I know there's a big thing about like tracking calories and it's annoying it's really annoying in the beginning but once you understand it it's a lot easier it takes like a week or so we kind of get used to it but that's literally the only thing that if you need to learn how to lose weight or gain weight calories is the number one thing it's how much are you taking in or how much are you burning you know if you are supposed to be eating you eating 3,000 calories a day to bulk, but you're only eating 2,000. Yeah, you're not going to gain any weight.
Starting point is 00:32:22 First, the other way, if you're supposed to be eating 3,000, but you're eating 2,500, you're going to end up losing weight. Yeah. And there's, there's only one way to gain weight, and there's only one way to lose weight. So the one way that you're going to gain weight is if you're eating more calories than you're burning. Mm-hmm. And the only way you're going to lose weight.
Starting point is 00:32:45 is if you're burning more calories than you're eating. That's it. It's not more complicated than that. And those calories could be good or bad, to be honest. Like, you can eat a happy meal every single day, like Harley Hart here in the chat. But if you're burning more calories than that happy meal, you can lose weight.
Starting point is 00:33:08 You can be very thin. But if you're eating that every day and you're not burning off those calories, you will gain the weight. I'm not saying all calories are created equal because I don't believe in that. I do think, you know, if you're eating junk food every day, it's not going to be the best option for you.
Starting point is 00:33:28 But you will, you know, be thin. You might not be healthy, but you could be thin eating junk food. Yeah, the brain juices actually brings up a good point. Counting calories can be dangerous for a lot of people because they go hungry. That right there is the number one issue that caused a lot of diets. to end is because people are always hungry. So you have to try to supplement it with, yeah, exactly, good and bad calories. You have to supplement it.
Starting point is 00:33:55 So, you know, have you ever seen this, like, what 100, 100 calories of fruit looks like versus, like, snacks? You know, like here it is. Food comparison. You know, having, like, 25 grapes, 25 strawberries, one pair, 50 grams of beans. You know, like, you know, this is what 100 calories of fresh fruit looks like, you know, and you can see it right here. So you have to understand that, yeah, you can eat 100 grams of a banana and great, you have 100 grams. But, you know, that may not fulfill you. So try to fill it with things that would actually fill you up.
Starting point is 00:34:41 A lot of good things. It's a lot of good fruit and veggies. Veggies. help a lot with filling you up. You know, last night, I had a craving for something sweet, and I ate a mango. Mmm. I thought about you because every time you go to Hawaii, you always bring me back those mango candies. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:03 But then I looked up the calories of a mango. How many calories do you think are in a mango? Oof. Well, it's healthy sugar, right? So, probably not too much. Yeah. It's only like 200 calories. That's not bad at all.
Starting point is 00:35:20 Wow. That's not you really good. Yeah, it's a... You know what? Hold on. Let me go see if I... I'll go grab... I'm going to grab a piece of candy.
Starting point is 00:35:30 And I'm going to see... I'm going to see how much it is. They better be mango candies. Yeah. Is Mike wearing underwear? Did he just get up and show us his underwear? Is you wearing his boxer briefs? Mike, are you wearing underwear right now?
Starting point is 00:35:47 So, I got, this is one of my favorite. Wait, wait, hold on, Mike, Mike, Mike. Are we just going to ignore the fact that you're walking around in your underwear right now? No, I'm not. Shorts. All right. I just thought it was a, they were a little too short. So chocolate color raisins, right?
Starting point is 00:36:08 I can eat like half of this thing in one go. The servings? Oh, God. That's actually kind of scary. So there's 38 servings in this container, and a serving size is 25 pieces. That's 200 calories alone, just basically, it's basically like this much in your palm, right around this much in your palm, about 25 of these pieces, versus one whole mango. Crazy. That is crazy.
Starting point is 00:36:44 Yeah, so that's the issue, you know. That's the issue. issue. Oh yeah, Harley chocolate covered gummy bears. I remember this topic. Yeah, those were pretty good. All right. So that I mean, please do it correctly. Don't do don't have the same mentality when you're counting calories as the way as like the number. I think of ranges is yeah counting the good calories or the bad calories. Really? You can eat a butt. ton of protein and, you know, carbs, but you keep the fat down and salt intake down and, you know, all the stuff and sugar, you'll tend to be a lot better. That's the main thing. Just be conscious of it.
Starting point is 00:37:33 Don't think of the hard number. Just be conscious of it. Because your body does burn a lot calories in the end, too. Yeah. And but ton is an official scientific term. Button is the official terminology for it. Yes. This next tip is very interesting because I have.
Starting point is 00:37:49 some thoughts on it. It's from FRDG they say try to walk at least 10,000 steps a day not in a treadmill not in a gym just outside. It'll not only help you get fresh air but also help you move and get to no spots you would have never gone to normally. And then the second tip they have is drink at least two liters of water per day. I'm a dumb American. I don't know what two liters is but they say 2 liters and juices and energy drinks are not the same all they do is make you more thirsty and burden your body with sugar and fats water not only tastes amazing but helps you feel refreshed all day long so my thoughts on the first tip about the 10 000 steps a day i don't know if i believe in that
Starting point is 00:38:39 because i have tried it and trust me i've walked a lot um i've gone on like three even four walks in a single day where I'm walking pretty close to an hour and I'm still not getting 10,000 steps. I feel like it's very, very, very hard to get 10,000 steps. That's actually one of the reasons why I got an exercise bike is because I was trying to get 10,000 steps a day and like I would very rarely get it. I would get like 8,000, 9,000 and I was walking for like two hours or even two and a half hours a day and I'm just like, I'm not going to get 10,000 steps. It's just too much.
Starting point is 00:39:19 And it's too much because, you know, I have a job. I have a wife. I have kids. Like, I can't just get up and walk around for three hours every single day as much as I'd like to. So I do think it's important to get up and walk. I still walk. I just don't aim for those 10,000 steps a day. I just try to be active with, like, my bike and whatnot.
Starting point is 00:39:39 And then the other one about drinking water and, you know, and avoiding juices and energy drinks and all that, I agree with that a million percent um water water is probably the most underrated beverage of all time
Starting point is 00:40:00 like I know people that don't even drink water you know people like they literally like they'll get their water from Gatorade or from soda or from orange juice and things like that
Starting point is 00:40:15 But if you if you just Just take a sip of cold water And just try to taste it I agree it's like like they say here It's delicious it's really really good It does taste amazing and you can even feel it just going through your body sometimes So yeah I love water I'm a big fan of sparkling water
Starting point is 00:40:39 I'm actually I think addicted to it at this point And I still drink every once in a while. I will drink a Red Bull because I think they're delicious. I will drink orange juice because I think it's delicious. But I would say most of the stuff I'm drinking, it is water. And I do love it. Good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:05 I mean, I just remember, you know, you can imagine the head, you know, it's like three. you're tired, your throat's dry, but you have that cold glass of ice water, right? By you drink that? That's basically the equivalent of just drinking water during the entire time. I think, you know what? I think everyone here should go ahead and get a quick drink of water right now as a way to keep it going. I just drank some water right now, but I think everyone here should take a quick drink, whatever they can to make sure that you guys stay hydrated because,
Starting point is 00:41:40 is a number one thing that a lot of, there's a lot of tips about this that will go later into it, but drinking water. You should be drinking water a ton. Like, you should, like, this is a 32 ounce. Like, I go through multiples of these, like four to five. I like how your Discord bio, it says, you should drink water.
Starting point is 00:42:01 Drink water and straighten in your back if you're reading this. Mm-hmm. So you live and breathe the water mantra. A huge proponent is. It helps us so much. your body, your functions, your skin, acne, um, just,
Starting point is 00:42:15 it's just good for you, man. It's just good. Just keep it going, you know, that's it. Oh, this one's a really cute one, uh,
Starting point is 00:42:24 from Plasma P-987. Instead of watching videos or being on your phone while in Q or waiting for a revive, do so stretching. It'll keep you from getting sore while playing, while playing leading to better performance. I saw this and I went, dang, I,
Starting point is 00:42:38 I really like this because don't you do that? Like, you load up into a queue. You just go into your phone. I think that's what everyone does. Everyone does. But instead, you know, when you're going to Q, just start doing some stretches, you know, do some neck stretches, rich movements, and then you go into the game.
Starting point is 00:42:55 I feel like it's really good, you know? So I think, I think this is a tip that everyone should do. I really like this one. Stretching is criminally underrated. Yes. I don't know because I'm an old man now, but, you know, like I told you, the first thing I do in the morning is make this quad shot. Of espresso.
Starting point is 00:43:13 While it's, while it's brewing, what I'm doing is I'm stretching. Like, I am just moving my body, touching my toes. You know, just, it feels so good to stretch first thing in the morning. And it helps with getting my day started, getting my energy from my workout and whatnot. Yeah, and I don't think a lot of people do that. You know, it's really good for you. So I like that tip. All right.
Starting point is 00:43:42 on the next one. Again, stretch, hydrate. But, I haven't if you want to finish up to rest. Yeah, from Stello, they say stretch, hydrate, and don't give up socializing. Activity, hobbies produce a healthy mentality.
Starting point is 00:43:56 And, yeah, that's actually one of the things I miss most about having a gym membership is just a socializing aspect of it. The reason I don't have a gym membership is because I just, you know, like I said, I'm married and have kids and I have a lot of
Starting point is 00:44:12 responsibilities at home at the moment. But the other day, I went to the grocery store with my daughter to get some food. And it's right next to a gym, a CrossFit gym. And we stood at the window and watched them for like five minutes. And I was thinking, like, man, like, it's so cool to have workout buddies and just seeing people, you know, having friendships around the idea of living a healthy lifestyle. I think it's really cool. And I like this tip from Stello.
Starting point is 00:44:44 I think having that social network, it does give you a healthy mentality because you kind of hold each other accountable. I remember when I used to go to the gym with my workout buddies, you know, we would, all we would do is, I mean, we would talk about other stuff too, like sports and games and movies and whatnot. But we would always be holding each other accountable and pushing each other. they're motivating each other to lift more weight or get more reps and whatnot. It's it's definitely a vibe. Yep. I mean, I mean, if you don't want to go to gym, do something, you know? You know, go.
Starting point is 00:45:24 I love rock climbing. So, you know, when I go to the rock climbing gym, I'll go and just enjoy a time, just playing, you know, going with their friends and, you know, hanging out for two hours, just at the gym talking and working out, basically. And having someone there also, having that accountability is very helpful because, you know, there's times where it's like, you're like, I can't reach the final one. But then someone goes like, come on. And everyone starts cheering you on. That gets you going.
Starting point is 00:45:53 Yeah. From Lou Reasy. You want this one? You should read it because it's really long. Standing desks. You basically talked about standing desks. That is also a very good option. I do not, sadly, have a standing desk.
Starting point is 00:46:08 But if I did not have this IKEA one, I definitely. definitely would understand any desks. I also wanted to make sure that I'm not saying inside all day. It varies since I'm a college student since I have to go class. I still find time to get, find time to get gaming into my business schedule as a college student, but it's all about balance. Balance, ain't one.
Starting point is 00:46:24 Go out plenty of walks or try to do sports. More importantly, have a balance between gaming, doing necessary things in your life and having enough sleep. While gaming gets really fun, it doesn't hurt to pull some all myers with your friends. Getting sleep is just as poorly to allow your body to both mentally and physically recover.
Starting point is 00:46:39 That part right there is the reason. reason why I added it because the number one supplement that people say is like, you know, it's not protein powder. It's not creatine. It's not all these, you know, multivitamins and all that stuff. It's sleep. Sleep is the number one supplement you can take. It's just getting at least an apple, like an apple cool amount of sleep.
Starting point is 00:47:03 Yeah. And I have an early riser. And sometimes people, they tell me like, I don't know how you can wake up a five o'clock in the morning every day and it's actually not that hard and the reason why it's not that hard is because I go to bed at like 9 o'clock you know so I'm sleeping eight hours I'm not you know play video games till 3 in the morning or whatever and it it makes a huge difference in your life if you can just get sleep I know some people sleep different schedules and whatnot but I think your your body naturally
Starting point is 00:47:40 tells you when you should go to sleep not everyone's a morning person I just happen to be standing desk with a treadmill under it this was a thing that I was like
Starting point is 00:47:55 oh you know you could take a look into doing that you know having a little treadmill that's always nice to have oh this is the one that I wanted us to talk about let's see
Starting point is 00:48:07 10 silly you should take vitamin D pills or have them on hand it really helps Question, what supplements do you take? Nice. I just take, the only real supplement I take is a multivitamin, and the reason is just because it's simple. It has vitamin D, it has everything. You don't have to, like, overthink it. In the past, I have tried different things, like fish oil pills and creatine and what else.
Starting point is 00:48:43 There's just a million supplements I've tried. But I figured a multivitamin kind of covers all your bases, make sure that you're getting all the nutrients. I know there's a lot of controversy with vitamins, whether they work or not. And my thought on that is I don't know if they work or not, but I know it's not doing me any harm. to put vitamins in my body.
Starting point is 00:49:10 So might as well put them in there and try to just eat healthy. I think that's pretty much all you can do. Yep. I take a lot of vitamins and supplements. I'm kind of one of those. I literally have like a pillbox of just like multivitamins and so.
Starting point is 00:49:25 So I take fish oil, multivitamins, iron, magnesium, and vitamin D. It's a lot of pills to take in one day. But the main ones that I think, people should do if you just want to get into it is creatine. Protein is very, very safe. It's not like a steroid.
Starting point is 00:49:44 It's one of the most research. Just look it up on YouTube, just be like, is creatine safe to take? It's one of the most research things. Basically, no side effects. You just drink a lot of water. But basically, creatine and protein powder. Very nice, very simple. You just add that into your protein powder.
Starting point is 00:50:02 Done. Vitamin D, if you don't get outside as much, I, you know, I'm stuck behind at desk all the time. Vitamin D is very, very good. Like, vitamin D is probably one of the most important things, especially for me that lives in the Pacific Northwest where it gets dark very quickly here. Like, it gets dark at, like, 3.30 here.
Starting point is 00:50:19 So vitamin D is great for those that can't get outside before the sun. And a multivitamin, like I haven't said, covers all the bases. You don't need to do fish oil, iron, magnesium. You don't have to do all that stuff. I just do it because I'm one of those guys. Mike, is the podcast lagging? Oh. Is it just me?
Starting point is 00:50:37 Yeah, I got a, uh, uh, I got a network error. Yeah, I got a weird network error right there. I just see the, oh, those, the Twitch screen loading. Okay, wait on. There it is. We're good. We should be back. There we go. Oh, we're good. All right. Uh, this next tip is from Ruben Gaming. to see gaming as an award for getting things done on a day
Starting point is 00:51:08 so that can also be workout or going for a walk and after that you can treat yourself with a good gaming session. This is a great tip because there's scientific evidence out there that the way you form a habit is because you get a cue, an action, and a reward, right?
Starting point is 00:51:31 So, for example, for me, my workout habit, right, I wake up. My cue is when I'm making my coffee, it signals to me like, oh, I got a stretch. And why am I going to stretch? Because I'm going to work out, right? Then I work out, which is my habit. And then my reward, it's my delicious protein shake. Like, I only have that shake when I'm done working out, and it tastes so good. and it's very simple.
Starting point is 00:52:03 You know, cue habit reward. Q habit reward. And the same thing, like I said earlier, it could be applied for bad habits. You know, like if you, when you get off of work and you get home, you know, and then you open up the fridge, that's your cue, and you just grab junk food, which is your habit.
Starting point is 00:52:25 You know, and then the reward is, you know, you just lounge on the couch or whatever, that's your routine, right? So, yeah, I like this habit of, or this idea of rewarding yourself for doing things because it just helps you form good habits. Also bad habits, but hopefully you're using this science for the good ones.
Starting point is 00:52:48 And now the fun one, these are some challenges that I thought would be very fun. Like, I actually kind of like these. It's when you're, this is when you're specifically gaming. and to do these things if you know something happens and there's a great way to kind of do it from Maple 38
Starting point is 00:53:06 do push-ups every lost match great way to get a bit of exercise while playing bronze league cop matches eight hours a day love that one every loss you do you do 10 push-ups then you maybe the next loss 15 then after that 20 then after that 30 you know you just keep going it's great way to
Starting point is 00:53:22 I would look like Arnold Schwarzenegger yeah I know right Um, and we both know, but we both know you aren't going to do that. So here's a much easier cap. But get a giant glass or water bottle leave it on your desk. Drink a ton of water refill it when emptied. This has a benefit of keeping long hydrated. While all of them making you make sure you take bathroom breaks and stretch your legs.
Starting point is 00:53:43 This is the one I was talking about is of, um, drinking water is amazing because, uh, you basically just use this water bottle. When it gets empty, it forces you to get up. You'll probably have to get up to go pee anyways. Done. I put this one for yours, Ivan. I see. A tip from XJ2. I do five push-ups for every death in CS2.
Starting point is 00:54:08 Doing push-ups during loading time, very efficient, especially if you have a bad computer. Yeah, I would, like I said, I would look like Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime if I did push-ups every time I got murked in video games. But I like that tip. I remember when I first started working at NZXT, our warehouse manager, he was like this super fit bodybuilder guy like he was he looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime and then he would blow his whistle every hour top of the hour
Starting point is 00:54:43 and like everyone would drop and do 10 push-ups wow I like that and he would like cheer his own and he'd be like come on Ivan you can do it and it was cool it was really fun I like that I like that I just thought it would be a great way to also get aggression out You know like when you die You're like god dang it you're really mad
Starting point is 00:55:05 But instead you go okay You get that out you're more focusing on like ooh my muscles You know how it hurts Versus like oh I'm mad about dying you know I thought this would be like Yeah and pushups they are also I think a very underrated exercise Like if if all you did was Pushups and pull-ups
Starting point is 00:55:27 and like body weight squats and like go on walks you need you're going to be fit you're going to be in shape you're going to be lean you're going to have muscles and you don't need any weights you don't need any gym membership you don't need any supplements that's just like very efficient compound movements for your for your body that have a major impact and a lot of people don't do them because you think like you know it's
Starting point is 00:55:57 it's, you know, you can't, you know, it doesn't seem like when you think about it. You like, you don't think that it's going to help you that much, but they're very, very helpful. From Samolusco, install pull-up bar to your gaming room's doorframe or any other door frame you frequently walk through. Do X amount of pulls every time you walk through that door frame.
Starting point is 00:56:20 Get off those gaming calories now. This was awesome. Put it out your room. Every time you go and you count that with drinking water. Every time you go underneath that, you have to do like a pull-up or a couple pull-ups or something like that. And with drinking a ton of water, you're going back and forth. You're going to be doing a lot.
Starting point is 00:56:39 I tried doing that because I wanted to be like rocky. And I ended up breaking my doorframe. All righty. And the final one, final tip, and I'll go into the questions. All right. Final tip from Collegation. I have a small exercise bike underneath my chair, which I cycle with four hours.
Starting point is 00:57:00 hours on top of small five-pound weights I do in the middle of games or cutscenes. That's a really tiny bicycle if it's underneath your chair. I want to see it. But as a recent exercise bike person, I got to admit it's probably my favorite thing in the world is that bike. It's a, I don't know, I'm just a bike nut. Like I have like five bicycles. I love riding bikes. but my exercise bike that I just have indoors
Starting point is 00:57:32 love it there's nothing better than just getting on that thing in the morning listening to a podcast and burning 500 calories before the sun comes up it's very efficient it's fun and
Starting point is 00:57:45 yeah I like I like this tip I want to see the small little bike though that could fit underneath the chair yeah I know right that's that's tiny that's like you just or maybe it's just like the ones where it's like it's basically just the bike itself.
Starting point is 00:58:01 Like it's just the wheel and the pedals. You can kind of sit there and use your desk as it. If you don't feel like drinking water, sorry, I don't know where that the thing is. Oh, okay. But we'll go into the questions. These are just, we have four questions here that people wanted to talk about
Starting point is 00:58:27 or ask about for specifically for us or for people in chat, if you guys want to answer questions. as well, if you have your two cents. For Plasnipi, again, from Plasopin, a great tip before, but now coming with question, how can I find good meal plans for after workouts? Well, there's definitely tons of information out there,
Starting point is 00:58:51 and a lot of conflicting information out there, too, which makes it really hard to find, I guess, a good plan. but my advice would be to know what your goal is before you even look at meal plans because you're saying here, like, how can I find a good meal plan for after workouts? My question to you is, why are you working out? Are you working out to gain muscle mass?
Starting point is 00:59:21 Are you working out to lose body fat? Are you working out to recomposition your body and whatnot? Like all those different things are going to dictate how you should be eating. So, but like I said, there's a lot of information out there, but I think step one is figuring out why you want to work out and why you want to eat healthy and then researching those meal,
Starting point is 00:59:45 specific meal plans for those goals. Otherwise, you know, if you're trying to lose weight and then you're eating like, you know, 5,000 calories a day because you looked up some, you know, Arnold Schwarzenegger diet from the 1970s and he's eating like 25 eggs a day or whatever, it's not going to be good for you. It's just going to do the opposite of what you trying to achieve there.
Starting point is 01:00:05 So step one, figure out the goal. And step two is, you know, figure out how you're going to, what are you going to do to achieve that goal? I highly recommend YouTube. YouTube has some awesome places. There's this guy that I follow. I don't have him here. But he has some awesome, like,
Starting point is 01:00:29 stuff. Let me see if I could find him. Meal Prep. A great way is looking up meal prep videos. Oh, here it is. Josh Cortiz. I'll put him into the thing. This guy right here.
Starting point is 01:00:42 He has some awesome stuff. Like, he does a lot of meal prep stuff, which I love. That's not a bit of. So, like, he'll show you how to make these, like, breakfast burritos that you can, that you can make. And you just throw them into the freezer after. Love these videos. They're also very, very, like, cost effective. They're not super expensive.
Starting point is 01:01:05 He breaks it down by price and everything. Love that. That's a great way to find it. YouTube. I saw a lot of people in the chat. We're talking about VR and saying healthy from Bin 0-0-1. This is more of a topic of discussion for the pockets. But, Ivan, do you think VR is healthy long-term?
Starting point is 01:01:23 I don't know about healthy long-term, but it definitely gets you moving and is probably better for you than if you're just sitting on a couch with a controller in your hand. But I don't necessarily think you know, playing Fruit Ninja VR
Starting point is 01:01:44 is going to be like a healthy thing if you know just because you're swinging your arms or whatever but I don't know. I guess it depends on what what game you're playing. Like I'm sure there it's, I'm not a VR guy
Starting point is 01:02:00 but I'm sure there probably is some sort of like workout VR thing out there where people are are exercising and getting fit but I don't know, what do you think? I think it's like you said, we don't know the long-term effects yet, but if it gets you active and it gets you going, it's great.
Starting point is 01:02:21 I know you have to definitely take a lot of breaks. Especially for me, like my eyesight is kind of wonky at times so like wearing a headset really gives me, headaches for more than like two hours um but hey if it gets you going hi divan add five kilogram plates to the VR controllers that's also a great way to doing it but um hey if it gets you going you like doing it gets you active there's a guy on youtube that does this he like basically um bikes and plays video games at the same time um and he basically like has lost a ton of weight has gone way stronger uh he documents it on youtube if you could find i've seen that guy yeah he's awesome he's
Starting point is 01:03:05 awesome i commented a couple times on his videos because i he's just so awesome really good positive like hey i just want to have fun to play video games but also get a little exercise it awesome very great way okay so i have these two questions iman that are uh or sorry these three questions that are kind of along the same and you and me have very different uh lifestyles like Like you have a family to take care of. I am just, you know, I'm straight out of college and a job. And then, you know, you have those that are students. From Kadez, uh, Kidae, how the heck do people manage to find enough time to be active,
Starting point is 01:03:43 an active part of gaming and streaming community while also maintaining a social life? Right when you think you got it all done, you realize you mess it all up. From Stella, balance between family, friends, work, gaming activities. Is it even possible? And then from Rick Sterko, how to use my. free time well. This is a good question because I'm a firm believer that there's no such thing as free time. And I don't think there's no such thing as finding time.
Starting point is 01:04:12 And the reason why I think that is because we all have the same amount of time in the day. We all have 24 hours in a day. And it's up to each person to determine how they are going to use. those 24 hours, right? So I'll use myself as an example. Like Mike said, I have a family, I work all day, I have two
Starting point is 01:04:38 little kids, I'm constantly, you know, taking, just doing regular dad stuff, right? So I have to make the time, not make the time, I just have to schedule the time
Starting point is 01:04:54 to exercise. I have to schedule time to play video games. I have to schedule time to watch baseball. I have to schedule time to play fantasy football. All these different things that I want to do, I just have to put them in my calendar, basically. So one of the reasons why I wake out at 5 in the morning, sometimes earlier, to exercise,
Starting point is 01:05:22 is because that is the only time I can do that. I cannot exercise middle of the day. I cannot exercise when I get off work. I cannot exercise, you know, when I put the kids down to sleep. I can only do it if I wake up at 5 in the morning, so I do it. I can only play video games when my kids are asleep. So when, before, if I have time, if they're still not up, when I'm done working out in the morning,
Starting point is 01:05:50 oh, look, oh, I got 15 minutes, I'm going to play some video games, or they're taking a nap, all right, I got 30 minutes, I can play some video games, or, you know, it's Friday night, they're down, it's 8 o'clock. Okay, I could probably stay up until 10 o'clock tonight. I got two hours of gaming I'm going to do right now. And, you know, I see a question here about prioritizing and all that. Like, you do have to prioritize all these different things because it's physically impossible to do everything. you know and you know for me i mean the most important thing in my life is my family right and that means
Starting point is 01:06:37 you know if i have most of my time is dedicated to my family right and then the things i do kind of have to support that same idea so that's why i have to work right so that's why you know eight hours a day that eight hours a day it's like i'm working because if i don't work I can't help my family, right? Even if I don't exercise, if I don't exercise, I'm not helping my family because I can't be the best dad I can be. It's honestly physically demanding to play with kids, you know, getting up and down and chasing them and playing.
Starting point is 01:07:18 And, you know, like right now, my oldest daughter, she has me doing dance parties every night. and I'm sweating and like if I'm out of shape, I can't do those things. So yeah, I do think you have to prioritize, but you also have to prioritize things for yourself, you know. Like I love baseball, I love video games, I love movies, I love reading, all these things I love, I still do them. I just have to do them. I have to schedule the time to do them, basically. And there's some days where I can't do everything, you know, there's days where
Starting point is 01:07:55 I really want to play video games or there's days where I really want to watch a baseball game or there's days where you know I even run it I really want to work out today but I just can't and why because my daughter's already up and we have to you know go to school early or something so you just have to find
Starting point is 01:08:14 not find you just have to schedule the time because we all have the same 24 hours in the days just it's up to you how you use that time Mm-hmm. That's the main thing is just to make sure that you, uh, it's, it's finding time.
Starting point is 01:08:31 You, you make time for the things that you want to do. Yeah, like I even said, there's times where you don't have stuff. There's times where you can't. But I think in the end, as long as you try for it,
Starting point is 01:08:47 you'll be fine. You know, like friends, family work, gaming activities, there's times for everything. Sometimes you, just need to, you know, like working out, you have to do it. Spending time with your family, you have to do it.
Starting point is 01:09:01 You know, you have to prioritize which one you can get off and not. But does not mean you have to quit cold turkey. You know, you can just be like, hey, maybe Wednesday, Thursday will hang out. But, you know, Friday, I'm going to go and just play some video games with my friends. That's it. Make it easy. And last of all, to summarize every. thing from Jesse
Starting point is 01:09:26 exercise to keep a balanced diet. A lot of people come to me and be like, hey, how do you do this all the stuff? And I mean, Routi is just, I just work out and just try to eat, not super healthy, but try to eat as healthy as I can.
Starting point is 01:09:43 That's it. Yeah. Make it easy. Us gamers got to change the perception that all we do is eat Cheetos and sit in front of our computers all day. All right.
Starting point is 01:09:59 We only do that for eight hours a day. Yeah, only eight. All right. So we'll go into the analysis real quick. For those that don't know, we just launched the 86 Flow and 86 Flow RGB, panoramic glass, dual chambered, angle corner for GPU cooling.
Starting point is 01:10:16 It's probably our best performing case so far. It's awesome. So if you guys want to take a look at it, it's Esclamation. 86 Flow in the chat, Or take a look at NCXT.com if you're listening. We're also doing daily drops on our website. So these can be like discounts and sales on products, PCs, bundles.
Starting point is 01:10:37 It changes every day. So take a look at our socials or go to website nzxte.com. Can I say something real quick about these drops? Yes. So we're getting a lot of questions right now on social media about Black Friday sales. and is NXC going to have a Black Friday sale or when does a Black Friday sale drop? So I'm going to just quickly mention
Starting point is 01:11:01 what's going on with the sales. So like Mike said, we got these daily drops where every day leading up to Black Friday, we are dropping the prices on different products and computers, cases, upgrades for your custom PCs and whatnot. Every day is different, so keep checking the website. And then I can't confirm what the Black Friday offers are,
Starting point is 01:11:29 but I can't confirm that NZDXT always has a Black Friday sale. We always have a Cyber Week sale. And if I were a gambling man, which I am, I would probably gamble on the NZXT. We'll have a Black Friday sale again this year. And in terms of like when the Black Friday sale will drop, well, just look at the word. It's Black Friday.
Starting point is 01:11:55 So if I were a gambling man once again and I am, I would assume it would drop on the Friday after Thanksgiving, right? I know last year we actually announced the sale on Thanksgiving Day. So I would not be surprised if we did the same thing this year. I just don't know the exact details yet. But just hang in there. We have a bunch of deals going on now and we will have a bunch more on Black Friday, just like every everyone else yep um if you guys want participate in the next giveaway uh join our discord
Starting point is 01:12:27 uh we are giving away this poochie uh this he is our poochie plush he's our little puck man uh basically uh if you guys want to participate in the next giveaway and also have your responses show up on the next stream discord. gg slash nzxte um you guys can submit your responses there please please please submit an actual response. I get a lot of people who are like, oh, free PC. And I go, ha, ha, well, you're, that's funny, but I'm not giving you this thing. I literally had to redraw winners, um, multiple times because people just gave, you know, meme answers.
Starting point is 01:13:05 And I'm like, well, you could have gotten one of these, but you decided to be funny. So that's on you, not me. So just want to point it out there. Uh, but he does not come with thermal paste, but keep him away from your thermal paste because he does like him a lot. So please. please watch out. And then, oh yeah, and since we just launched the new case,
Starting point is 01:13:26 we're launching stuff all the time. You know, we're launching computers, cases, coolers, gaming gear, everything. You guys want to take a look at it. Go to n66.com or follow at n60s on social media platforms because we have a ton of stuff coming. All right, so here is something that people are wanting. They want the code, the code for the gleam give away. So to let everyone know, there is a glean giveaway going on for a hoodie, a t-shirt, and a sticker to Lanier Pack.
Starting point is 01:13:58 And there is a secret code word there. This is our way of saying thank you guys for joining us live and answering questions and chatting and everything like that. This is for 500 extra entries into the glean giveaway. The code word is Body by NZXT. Body by NZXT is the code word. That is the code word that's our way saying thank you so much for joining us, guys. From Kareem, I always ask myself, NCXT doesn't get into game development.
Starting point is 01:14:33 I think this is a good idea. There's a lot of, that's a lot. I mean, there's literally game studios. We're not a game studio, so it would be very tough. Although I do have the best idea for a video game. If someone can make this game, if you're listening, please, please make it. All right. So, imagine the game, Mike, where you're poochie.
Starting point is 01:14:59 Okay. And it's a platformer like Mario Brothers. And each level is a different computer case where you have to, you start at the bottom and you have to get to the top. Oh. So you're like, you know, like, for example, if you're in the H5 flow level, you have to to get through the toilet fan. To get in the GPU, maybe you'll slide on the
Starting point is 01:15:23 cracking tubes, etc. Yeah, I think it's a million dollar idea, so if any game devs out there that wants to get in on this early with me, hit me up. I like that. I actually think that'll be very fun. I have a poochie platformer. I like that a lot.
Starting point is 01:15:39 So thank you guys for joining us. And remember, tune live every Friday at 10 a Pacific Standard Time on the official NCC Twitch.
