Hello, everyone, and welcome to episode 174. I don't want to have the script up, actually. 174 of the NCC podcast, the official podcast of the NCC community. How are you doing, Ivan? I'm doing fantabulous, Michael. I am happy to be back. We didn't do a podcast last week. And this is going to be an interesting one today. So normally when we've asked people to show us their setups so we can rate them on the podcast, the types of submissions we get are always like these really nice looking builds with like perfect cable management, perfect RGB lighting, spotless, etc.

But this time around we figured, you know what, we should do the opposite. it why don't we just collect the ugliest setups we could possibly find from our community and just roast them on Twitch and when I say ugly I mean that as a term of endearment I'm not saying it as a you know bad thing um I was talking to Mike earlier before we went live and I told them this is actually pretty cool because we're I think we're going to see like what most people's setups look like not like what um most Instagram setups look like you know because if you open up Instagram, you know, it's just like, I mean, they're awesome to look at, but at the same time, they're not always very realistic. So I think today we're going to see a lot of good setups.

And we're going to give away one of our poochy plush mascots to someone who submitted to the setups. Yeah, I mean, we're not going to, you know, this is all out of love. We're not going to be like mean to be mean.

So, yeah, I guess to roast this setup, to me, it's just there's just too much clutter on the desk. I'm a very you know minimal type of person when it comes to my desk and this just looks like I can't even put my elbow on there or even my notebook if I want to

write a note or or anything but you have I think two rolls of toilet paper I think you have Oh yeah there's another one here Unused one next to the PC and then a brand new one next to your headset there

So like I said Brandon I don't want to know what you use this toilet paper for but I feel like toilet paper belongs in the bathroom, not on your desk. Miko Anton, probably to clean soda spills, nothing's suss. You wouldn't use toilet paper to clean spills. I think we have another idea why there's toilet paper on that, on the desk. Yeah.

Yeah. What do you think about this one? I mean, it's a fine setup. Everything looks fine, but I'm a huge fan of having a center monitor and having a side monitor, if you have a two monitor setup. Having it directly in the middle makes it so weird because instead of directly staring straight, like when you're gaming, you're going to have to kind of go like this or you're going to have to kind of go like this. It's kind of weird.

I'm a big fan of center side. side panel, you know? Yeah, it is a little annoying when things are not. Yeah, you're gonna be gaming like this the entire time. That's just, that's just, that's awful. Yeah, I agree. All right, let's go to the next one. From Navoli.

All right. This one is just, I mean, there's tables wrapped around hanging on the wall looks like you actually just nailed the cables on the wall for some reason the bookshelf looks like it's about to fall like if you put one more thing in that

bookshelf it just looks like it's going to snap off you have a toothbrush next to a bottle of coke on your mouse pad which is filthy like what is what is there not to roast about this setup but on the

flip side, it looks like you spend a lot of time here, so I'm not going to shame you too much. But I guess what does it for me, honestly, is just the cables, that would have just annoy me if I had to look at that every day. And also the toothbrush, just like the toilet paper that Brandon had, Navoli, please, the toothbrush belongs in the bathroom, not on your desk. I didn't even notice that until I looked at it. I also looking at the mouse pad, you see the corner, like, right here. It's curling.

It's curling. Yeah. And then the keyboard isn't even, is like partly on it. That, like, you have a big mouse pad for a reason, like, put, you can put the mouse pad or the keyboard on the mouse pad, you know, it's, it's, that's what most large, like, That's what I have right here. So a large mouse to have my keyboard and my mouse on the same one. Yeah.

This is a little scary to me, the little wire management here. Yeah. But it's fine. It's a great setup. And, hey, at least you have the center monitor to the right. You know, big hand of it. For those of you asking in the chat here, can you still submit setups? You cannot, but join our Discord.

There's always something weird in every AI image. All right. Next one from Ginger's Forever. All right. Ginger's Forever. I actually, I'm going to take it very easy on this one

because this looks exactly like what my setup looks like at home right now because I'm working from a laptop at the moment. And I sent Mike a picture of my setup at home. It's ridiculous.

When I work from home, my, I work on my daughter's desk, which is tiny, like, it hits my knees. And it's basically this with a bunch of messy cables. So I'm not going to roast it too hard. But I guess if I had to pick one thing about it is just the, the Apple pods. I can't stand those. Oh, I love these headphones, which are actually my favorite. I don't know.

I just, something about those pods. They just fit my ears weird. Yeah, it's for for Apple earbuds, like, it's, it's, you either extremely love it or, God, it's the most uncomfortable thing in the world for me. For it, like, works out perfectly for my ears. Like, I prefer this, like the, like the hard plastic ones versus the, like the AirPods with the squishy ones. Like, I'd rather have that. But yeah, I also agree. I'm not going to roast a laptop setup because, like, I get it.

You can, you can, you can roast. because it's like, oh, it's not a full monitor, keyboard, mouse, speaker, PC setup. But like at the same time, man, like, it honestly, his setup, his laptop's up is better than most people's, I know. Because you actually have, like, a good amount of space for your mouse pad. However, the only thing I'm a little going to roast a little bit on is the placement of the keyboard and the mouse. Do you play, like, are you playing like this instead?

Like, are you, you're typing here and then moving the mouse here? Is that how you're doing it? That's a little weird. The other thing about the mouse that's weird is I'm pretty sure he could have plugged in. Oh. They could have plugged in the mouse on the right side, yet they chose the left side, and then they chose to hang the mouse on top of the screen, so it just distracts you. I don't know if they're using this as a mouse bungee or something.

something, but man, like, you could have literally wrapped up that mouse cable, you know, put a little Velcro strip on it and just plug it into the right and you wouldn't have a giant, you know, string of cable over your monitor. Yeah. I also, I also don't understand why you have to have it like this. Why can't you just, like, put it underneath the desk? You know, you just feed it underneath the desk. And then so it's just this part and then whatever your mouse is. I don't know why you have to string from it. Maybe it is a mouse bungee.

Maybe it is. But honestly, like I said, it's not a bad setup. The only thing that's really weird is to keep word of a mouse setup. Like this and that is, that's too much for me. Yeah. Your left arm is just cocked in a straight arm position the entire time. Yeah. By the way, do you know what anime that is on the mouse pad?

That's Demon Slayer. You didn't watch Demon Slayer. I mean, it's fantastic. It's on my list. Alrighty. So, this is from Scrimand 24.

I think this is another setup that looks like my personal setup at home at the moment. So it's hard for me to roast these. I even have, you know, like my daughter's artwork hanging in there like this. So this legit looks like my, my home setup. I guess my only real gripe with this one is

the I don't know it's just a something about the the desk being that size it's just I feel like I know the space is limited so if it is and you're going to have a small desk why are you going to put you know like construction paper and rulers and markers and Google Nest and all this stuff on there like just you'll you have like basically enough space for your for your lab topping your mouse here and you don't need any other thing on there but besides that like I said this literally looks like my own

setup at home so I can't flame it too hard what do you think yeah honestly I like I said I I'm not roasting someone based on what they have like I can't roast it it's what you do with the space and

this is obviously a little I'm in a den luckily my den's a little bit bigger but he's making use of the space. I mean, like, you know, you have a little outlet, small desk kind of fits there. The only thing that I would say is I agree with the markers set up. Like the thing in the back, I'm never a fan of having your wrists at the edge of the desk like that because that just gets really uncomfortable.

Also, you don't have like, like, I do a lot. I do arm aiming. I don't do wrist aiming. So, like, not being able to do this. is just really uncomfortable the entire time. So I would push this back and then just get rid of this because you don't need it. I'm not roasting this. Honestly, I love it.

I honestly love this thing. I don't know a lot of people were thinking like, oh, this is too much. But honestly, this Adventure Time drawing is actually pretty good. It's actually really good. Bimo, Finn, Jake. Like, they look good. Yeah. And I think, like, action junkie says in the chat, claustophobia,

ahoy and yeah like i think the cluttering your desk like this but you're already like in a tight little corner it's like you're just you're just you're making yourself uncomfortable for no reason just uh clean up the desk and you should be good yeah i would also maybe increase the mouse bat too

wrist aiming is really bad for y'all just letting you know just try to stop use wrist aiming if you can because that leads to carpal tunnel do arm aiming arm aiming helps a lot i know this He doesn't have a lot of space, but for those that are there, start arm aiming instead of wrist aiming. From license, the next one. License. Um, I think the thing I hate most about this setup is, you kind of brought it up earlier.

It's just like the monitors not being even. And not only are they not even. They're angled like a V. I'm sick I don't know it's weird man like you're sitting right in front of those monitors even if they're centered

like your eyeballs are going to be going like this to see what's on the screen I don't know and I feel like if you're using this to play video games you're going to have to move your keyboard and mouse

to one of those monitors because they're kind of V so yeah I think that's really annoying and even though the the image here license is kind of dark I also see there's like a bunch of cables making a rat's nest underneath your monitor there so I'm sure you have really bad

cable management and I see some vaping materials there next to the PC so I'm sure your PC is also full of dust and if you have and if you have messy cable management you're probably the type of dude that does not clean your PC regularly. So I can only imagine the vapors that are going in that in that poor PC of yours. I think Streamas Jonas has probably the biggest criticism I have.

There's no mouse pad. Yeah. That mouse just like, grinding against that desk. Ugh, that kind of, I'd rather you have like that little mouse pad from the setup before. But yeah, I mean, honestly,

it's not about setup. The monitors is, my, it will always be my biggest gripe. Like, just gaming like this or gaming like this, just, that's just, that's too much. But we should also just disqualify, in the future, we should disqualify anyone that submits anything that has an anime wallpaper.

It automatically, that automatically lowers your desktop for, right? Action Jockey. I'm honestly, I'm not against, stickers if you if it's things stickers that you use all the time or like what Ivan has in the background sticker bombing a case

totally worth I love stickers totally worth it I sticker bomb like a lot of things yeah I stick it when I entered NXC I sticker bomb my case it was the H500 I but with these new cases like I just upgraded to the X6 there's literally only

one panel that you could do it and the panel like this, the only part you can do is like this part because like everything else is perforated airflow or it's glass. So you can't really do anything else with it. All right. Shamps. All right. Shamps.

So normally I would crash this setup because it's a desk bottom and I can't stand desk bottoms. However, you are the one exception to the rule where I feel like if you are going to have your PC on the floor. The only acceptable reason or way to do that, in my opinion, is to do it how Shemp's did it here, where you have it elevated. And that's because it's just going to prevent it from getting mega dusty. And he did that, or they did that. And because of that, I'm not going to, you know, roast that. I think Shamps did a good job. But what I am going to roast here is just how messy everything is.

You know, you have cables just tangled galore underneath your desk. So even it looks like you can't even sit there and put your feet underneath your desk because you're going to cook a cable and unplug something. So if you're going to have cables under your desk like that, please, for the love of God, get them out of your foot's path. I'm also going to roast the

the keyboard taking up half the space. Yeah, I was going to say that too. It's like just get a bigger mouse pad if you're going to do that. Don't get a little tiny mouse pad and then just put half of your keyboard on top because then now your mouse pad is basically non-existent. You might as well not even have a mouse pad at this point. I also feel like the the clutter, I mean, it's not like, it's not too cluttery, but there's things that look

that they're just going to fall if you, if your foot catches one of these cables. Like, I could just imagine myself sitting here playing a game and then moving one of those cables and that baseball falling down and like knocking that bottle of water over my keyboard, that BB gun, like, you know, falling down on top of the monitor. This is just like things that are a place where they should not be placed in my opinion. What do you think, Mike? I mean, I agree with the desk bottom. Like, I'm a big proponent having my PC on the desk.

But if you have a special compartment for, like, your desk is as a literal compartment for it, you might as well use it. It stays up desk space. And his space doesn't have that much to be able. I have like a five foot desk, like is the IKEA countertop desk. So I have a lot of room. But, I mean, honestly, if you put that there, you would have. have zero room for your arm

at all if you put the piece on this so I understand yeah the mouse the mouse pad was probably my biggest thing and yeah the story ends how do you feel about mouse on different level to the keyboard on small desks again you got to make

use of your space I'm not gonna bag on someone that literally has an like an ability to basically give yourself like a whole extra space are they saying in the like you're keyboard hand would be here and your mouse hand would be here or here. No, I'm thinking more like a, I'm thinking more like if the, the, the desk is here and you have your

keyboard or mouse on bottom, like that little slidey part. I don't have an issue with that. That's not an issue. And anyways, even if the keyboard is like not level correctly, you're mainly aiming with the left hand and you have your mouse on the right, so the right side of keyboard doesn't really matter. I feel like that would just throw me off. No, I mean, the right hand wouldn't, uh, the right hand wouldn't really be that much of an issue.

Oh, so Dorian's clarified. Keyboard on the pull-out shelf and mouse. Oh, tabletop above. Again, that would be weird because then, then it would be like this, and then one hand would be... I'm going to track. I'm going to, like, yeah. I'm going to, like, keyboard on bottom.

I mean, it's... not, it's honestly not bad. It's not bad. It's very awkward because like I'm doing it. It's just basically just like this, but left hand is just a little down. It's not awful, but

I'm not, I'm not used to it, so I don't know. I haven't seen any, any CSGO pros play like that, Mike. Oh, dude, that CSGO, oh, that's also a big thing. How is your keyboard? Do you do the keyboard? Like, oh, great. I don't, I don't just,

You gotta have it. Yeah, you gotta have a little. This is your keyboard right now. So do you do it the standard that or do you do that or like the one where it's like this? It's a little tilted but not not perfectly tilted all the way. But there's a little tilt going on. I have a little bit, which technically is, I mean like from this is flat. It's like that.

It's a tiny little bit. I feel like if it's straight, it's also like something that can give you carpal tunnel. Yeah. Having it completely straight, I think, is just too much. So that's why doing this just makes it feel a lot better. Like having your hand not like this, but like this just feels a lot more natural. I mean, whenever you, if you think about it, like you have your arm straight for a while, but then if you just kind of tilt it to the right, it feels a lot more comfortable. It does.

Yeah. So, you know what? Mushroom, I, I'm sorry, the story. I'm not against the different levels. It's just odd. Having it like the other way, which was like the guy had the laptop here, the mouse here,

that's too much. But different levels, it's not awful. Yeah, Mushrooms said that they're listening to this and soaking up everything so they know what to do and not to do when their PC arrives. And I told them not to listen to us because we're both morons. No, no, no, no, no.

We're just roasting because we thought it'll be a fun idea and people want us to roast? No, no, no, no. Don't listen to us. Don't listen to us. We're obviously opposite of what we're saying. Yes, listen to us and then do the exact opposite. Yep, there you go.

It'll be fine. From zero? Zero. Zero. So, first and foremost, I have always wanted this setup. Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to have bunk bed and then have, like, a little, like... Well, I guess I'd... A boy cave underneath that bed where I had my video game, my comic books, my TV, you know, all that stuff.

And I'm super jelly that Zero has one. I am not jealous about, though, is the fact that their monitor is not only like it looks like an antique. It's on top of a shoebox. And it's a foldout. table that is definitely not the best type of desk for a PC. I don't even see their PC. I don't even know what this thing is plugged into. I can only guess it's, you know, somewhere in your file.

I think it's just a PlayStation or something, right? I don't think this is a PC. And the other thing is, I think they just have like a random RGB strip hanging from it. Yeah, I was not to say that too. Come on, man. If you're going to have a setup under your PC, under your desk, I mean, under your bed, I mean, your bunk bed. You can make it so cool. Like I said, I've always fantasized about having a boy cave.

And, yeah. And I say boy cave because I was a kid, not a man yet. So I don't know how zero is, but I think if they're sleeping in a bunk bed, they're probably, pretty young. So, you know, maybe you should maybe I could live vicariously through him and

they can fix this up. I'm also seeing like a poster on the right there. What is that? Is that a TV monitor on a crate? What's that from? I think you're muted, Mike. All right, Zelda's playing with the toy.

So I don't know what this one. Don't you remember to quake poster, keyboard on. Oh, this is quake. Yeah, I want to show this. Okay, so I agree. There's a lot of things, but like you said, bump bed setup is like one of my,

like I wish I had one too. Because there's so much you could do in this one little area. You could do so much. Like I have so much room up here that I can't use, but I'm able to, but you know, having a bump bed, you get both of that.

So I feel like you could definitely do some more with the physical desk. using a pull-out but again you may not have the ability to have it and you're making use of what you got not going to make fun of that the shoebox honestly i did as well because i mean if in for those here this is actually good advice your monitor center should be directly in the center of your eyes if not a little higher so like if the center of your monitor is right here it should be right where your eyes are if not a little higher because looking up versus looking down is a lot worse so i Having a shoebox actually helps and you know, make you use of what you got.

And where's her the toilet paper be? Where's the toilet paper? Um, you know, the RGB strip, a little odd in my opinion. I don't like how it goes through the actual bed ring. But brother of crisis, that a shoebox monitor said, A. Yeah, see, is vulgar. Volger has the same thing. I use, I use books.

I've used, uh, shoeboxes. I've used physical, like bricks before. Um, you know, there's a lot you could do with this setup. But like, if you look at like some bunk bed setups, like, there's some good stuff you can make with this. Like, look at this one here. Look at that. There's some dope ones. Like, look, look, look, look, you can, you could totally make use of the space of bunk bed.

You know, just having a good desk underneath your setup. That's all you need. You just need a good desk. Like, you don't need a crazy, like, you know, this type of desk where it has like shells and stuff like that. It helps, but it's not needed. That one's actually an NZT case. Oh, really? Yeah. I lost it. Lost it.

Another NZT case right there. Yeah. But, you know, like, just having something like this, you know, having a standard desk underneath is pretty decent. Just having the desk as a setup. That's, that, that bunk bed setup we shared on social a while back where someone had the PC on top. With a chair There's like a desk on top with the chair Oh yes, yes, yes, I know

You're talking about Yeah, that was hilarious See if I can break it up Uh, shoot I don't have it I'll have to find it I can probably find it Yeah It was um

No, that's what you call Uh But uh, yeah Like I said, Bump fan setup You can Bung Pan setups are super underrated And also, if you live in a cold place

the heat from your setup will actually rise up so you makes yourself actually warm so that's also the plus i don't know where i don't know how to find it man it's okay we'll find it later uh this is the next one from leam d 327 you can't really see too much i'll try to highlight it uh it's it's really dark but you see the it's a this is the desk right here it looks like it's just like kind of like a standard coffee table setup with a couple drawers, monitor, keyboard. I don't know what this is. I think,

I think it's an Xbox or it's, it's the, oh, no, there's PCs here. I can see the light down here. And then a little thing here. No mouse pad, though. That's a big thing. No mouse pad. I guess for me,

I feel like I can smell this setup. What I mean by that is, you know, like these wooden desks for some reason. Like, ever since I was a kid, you know, whenever we had a wooden desk and there was a PC on it, like it had a certain smell. You ever, you don't know what I'm talking about, Mike? The smell? Like that hot wood smell. Oh, yeah.

I can see that. Yeah, yeah. So I can just imagine this thing, being a little stinky. Yeah, yeah, Tim brings it up. Yeah, if you spill something, it will hold the smell. Yes, I agree with that. Smells like Grandma's house. there's like you know

cables right underneath where your feet should be so similar to the other setup Liam D you're just gonna you can't even be comfortable here you know and um you can't even use the drawers because you have your your headset hanging on one of them you can't pull them out or nothing

uh yeah and it looks like you're sleeping next to the PC is that a pillow or is that dirty laundry I don't know but um not sure yeah I think this setup definitely could use a lot of work. Yeah. Also, there's a big

for those that have wood sets like I do, like a wood finish, finishing, like putting like a nice little like surface level like wax or like a like a varnish on top helps a lot. It helps a lot with a smell.

So this is what I wanted to roast from Jacqueline. Awesome PC. But this isn't the setup. Like, this is not a set. It's just a PC. Great PC. Don't get me wrong.

I love how the GPUs, like, tilted and everything. I love the RGBs and everything. But this is not a, this is not a cell. This looks AI. It does kind of look like AI, doesn't it? But I feel like it's not because this is the Coursera logo. So, and AI can't do logos and stuff. But one thing to roast is that it's on the floor on top of a towel.

Yeah, that's a little scary. Yeah, like if you're going to put it on the floor, like, and you have a wood floor, why on God's Green Earth would you put a towel? Yeah. There's a trap heat, you know. So, Jacqueline,

remove the towel, and better yet, just put the PC on your desk. Agreed. From Lucas v. Martens. One, and that's 40. Fantastic case. I love that case.

All right, Lucas. If I had to roast anything from here, I would say it's the, fact that your monitor is not only really small, it's like you would be gaming with your neck down like this. Yeah. Just like, I can just imagine my neck hurting after sitting here for a couple hours, you know, either, not even gaming, just like, just sitting there and like browsing the web. Like, how do you, how do you even get comfortable here, you know, your neck is just pointing down basically? what do you think uh my in my humble opinion i hate when PCs are like this when it's

smashing it's the backside of the case because one all the wires are going to be here so you're going to see all the wires hate that look well look that's how mine is and you don't see that i don't i don't i don't like it personally i'm always just turn it side you know because you are killing a little bit of the airflow too because of the side you know I can put you on, uh, oh triple double double mic. Yeah. Oh, but the lag. But, um, I, I, I just feel like I'm not a fan whenever you do something like this.

Um, I would rather it be sideways so that you get airflow. Also, you can utilize the back of that. So you can put something back here, you know, you can put something here. If this was here, you can, you can probably put something. You know, you got an extra room here. You know, you can probably put like, some decorations. Is that a toilet paper roll?

No, no. It's like a scent thing. I think it's a scent thing. Like an air diffuser kind of thing. But again, I can't roast the setup in general because like you're using what you have. It reminds me when I first had my setup. You know, I had my dad's old office wood desk, you know, simple mouse pad, keyboard setup. Like honestly, it works.

You keep rocking it. But I don't like how this is here. I would rather have it right here. From Zito is epic. Very festive one, I was going to point out. Yeah. I actually love the holiday decorations here, to be honest. I did too.

Very festive. Chris is my favorite holiday, so honestly, I appreciate it. I guess if I had to roast anything is the fact that I can see they have a gaming chair, right? Yeah, it looks like a game chair. It's a gaming chair, which every gaming chair that I know of has wheels, and this setup is on carpet. So it's like I hate rolling chairs on carpet. It's like the most annoying thing in the world to me is, you know,

because you're like doing like a leg workout trying to move that chair. And then, yeah, they also have their PC on the floor on top of carpet. Because I'm only speaking for NZ-XT cases now. I'm not going to speak for every computer case that exists. But our cases are designed to bring in air from the bottom as well. And if it's just completely covered by a rug or a carpet, you know, it's not able to do that. And what it is sucking in, though, is all the dust and dirt and grime that is in your carpet. So it's also making your PC more dirty.

I have a three monitor setup, but I would love a fourth. You can't rush it too hard either because they're playing Star do Valley, which is a great game. It's a great game. For Katsu, 6602. Yeah. So, for me, the thing that I hate about this is that this is just like, it doesn't even look like a desk. I don't even know what this is. It looks like a it's like a random table with storage for some reason.

What do you game on? There's a broom right behind it. There's a plastic bag on top of your mouse pad. The lotion.
