BBC Sounds, music, radio, podcasts.
Hello and welcome to Off The Telly from BBC Sounds.
I'm Natalie Cassidy.
And I'm Joanna Page.
And this is the podcast where we have a good old chat about all the things telly and what we've been watching this week.
Now, there is going to be a bit of swearing and there might be a few spoilers.
So be warned.
Absolutely.
How have you been this week, Jo?
I've been all right, actually.
What have you been up to?
Well, how's all the wildlife going?
Good?
Oh, yes, it is good.
Anyone shut on your face this week?
No. I think I've had poo on my clothes.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
No animals have pooed on my face.
Good.
But I've been looking after...
Well, do you know what?
I've now got a newfound appreciation of birds.
They're just so lovely and just so clever.
I've held a magpie in my hands.
One?
No, actually.
No, I've held one magpie and I've held...
No, I haven't.
I've held two magpies in my hands.
Thank God for that because one's for sorrow, two's for joy.
I know.
You began to worry me.
I didn't hold both of them in there at the same time.
It was done separately.
Could you see the other one at the same time?
Yes, yes. Do you have to do, you know, good morning, Mr Mag good morning mr magpie oh yeah you do how's your wife and kids yeah which i still do religiously yeah me too yeah i don't say um i just say good morning mr magpie
and but i don't say how are your wife and kids but the other day we were having to go around and
there were set i think there were seven magpies so i could do one for sorrow two for joy three for a
girl four for a boy.
And then I couldn't remember anymore.
Five for silver, six for gold, seven for a secret
never to be told.
Well, we ended up, I think, no, it must have been four
because we ended up on four for a boy.
Very good.
Yes, and I was like, well, we're going to be up the duff
by next week.
But it's quite exhausting because cleaning animals out is quite tiring.
Yes, agreed.
And so it's making me debate on whether or not back home
we should go full force with the guinea pigs that the children want.
No, don't bother.
Oh, God, can you imagine?
Just don't bother. We've got rabbits.
Oh, God, you said. Are they a nightmare?
They're lovely little things, but no one looks at them, Jo.
Do they not bother with them?
Do you ever have them in the house?
I would like to say.
Sometimes they come in the kitchen and they'll have a little wander round.
They haven't done that for ages, but when it's really cold,
they'll pop in and whatever.
Yeah.
And then in the garden.
I bet you don't allow them in that living room, do you?
Are you mad?
Isn't it? I bet you don't allow them in that living room, do you? Are you mad? If you don't allow a crisp in there, there is no way in hell you're going to allow a rabbit in there.
Things have got a bit more relaxed, though.
Are you serious?
A little bit.
How?
Because if the kids have a packet of crisps, every now and again I'll be like, oh, okay, if you sit nicely.
Oh, my God, is that since we started the podcast?
Yeah, but it's not a good thing.
I need to wind it in.
How has it happened?
Have I had some form of kind of small influence in your living room arrangements?
Maybe.
Oh, my God.
But there have been a few packets of crisps eaten in there.
No way.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
Do you know the other day, right, James was scrubbing the carpet in our living room and putting like carpet you know cleaner
stuff on there because the kids had gone in there wearing their roller not even roller boots but
roller blades oh on the carpet the cream carpet now I've got to be honest I think it just shows
the difference between mine and James's um personalities that I saw it and I'd seen it for about three days and I thought oh I can see what's
happened there I'll deal with it later and I just left it maybe I left it because I knew that he
would deal with it because he came in and went oh my god have you seen what they've done with
the rollerblades and I went yeah I'm gonna deal with it later I didn't deal with it later he just
went out and just cleaned the carpet three days you left it like that yeah yeah wow i was a
bow now is so demanding so demanding and so shouty that i'm just constantly being ordered around by a
two-year-old constantly we went to pepper pig world the other day oh i love pepper pig's just brilliant, brilliant. But it's the first time we didn't take a pram.
She wouldn't let any of us carry her down the steps. So I went down the steps and then filmed
James whilst hysterically laughing as he was walking and she was going, no, daddy, no, daddy,
shush, daddy, and wouldn't let him touch her or pick her up or anything. So there was a queue of
people behind them
as she had to walk down all the steps on her own.
Well, I've got something to say.
Yeah.
Peppa's rude.
Peppa is rude.
I would agree with you.
You're at Peppa Pig World.
Yeah.
And she's loving Peppa.
Oh, my God.
And she's turning into Peppa by the sounds of it.
Oh, my gosh.
She probably is.
But how rude is Peppa? Because Peppa's not as bad as Bing. No, but she. She probably is. But how rude is Peppa?
Because Peppa's not as bad as Bing.
No, but she's very bossy.
She never says please or thank you.
She doesn't, does she?
And it's all, oh, Daddy's useless.
Oh.
All the time.
Oh, my God.
Laughing at Daddy.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You can't find anything.
You can't fix anything.
My whole family's turned into Peppa Peg's family. It has. Laughing at Daddy. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. You can't find anything. You can't fix anything.
My whole family's turned into Peppa Pig's family.
It has.
We're all standing there laughing as she's going,
shush, Daddy, shush, Daddy. And you're all like, oh, she's so cute.
Oh, my God.
Sort it out, Jo.
Bless her little heart.
I'm only joking.
All right. Shall we get on with this week's telly?
Oh, come on then.
We've had so many messages and voice notes from you guys at home
and we absolutely love it.
Please keep them coming.
Here's a couple that we just have to share with you all now.
Jo, do you remember weeks ago when you talked about your son
having a really good whistle?
Yeah. And he should go on a really good whistle? Yeah.
And he should go on Britain's Got Talent?
Yeah.
Well, we've got a listener who thinks his whistle might be able to match it.
Listen to this.
Good evening, Natalie and Joanna.
This is Christopher from Wiltshire.
I'm really enjoying your podcast.
I thought I would send you a voice note of my whistle to see if it's any better or worse than your son, Joanna.
Oh, that's good.
It's my Disney whistle.
And I also have thought about auditioning for Britain's Got Talent,
but I haven't as yet.
Keep up the good work.
I really enjoy listening. Thank you. Well, I really enjoy listening thank you well I have to
say thank you for that and I did think it was a good whistle thank you Christopher but you're
you're you're a grown man if you went on to Britain's Got Talent and started whistling like
that there would be a great big buzzer from me well I have to say I do think that my son's whistle is better.
He is amazing at whistling.
And how old is he?
Seven.
That's what I'm saying.
But whistling is an amazing skill.
I think you probably...
No.
This is the only whistling that I've never been able to do,
like a proper whistle.
This is how only whistling that I've never been able to do, like a proper whistle on. This is how I whistle on.
Do it again.
Make it a little louder.
Do it again because it reminds me of something.
You remind me of a character.
Catherine Tate-Nan.
Oh, my God.
That's it.
That would be your old woman face.
Oh, Jesus.
Oh, God.
Do you think your whistling face is your old woman face?
No, because I do a...
But yours is a...
That's it.
That's the only whistling I can do.
Brilliant.
I've never been able to whistle.
Okay, now, half an hour whistling.
Hope you enjoyed the show.
Oh, dear.
The content just gets better and better.
Oh, dear.
On to your message, Jo.
Oh, God.
So, we've had lots of messages from you guys telling us about where and when you like to listen to the pod including this lovely voice note from nicola
hello ladies this is nicola from lincoln i had to leave you a message to say a huge huge thank you to your podcast I started listening to it when I was in hospital
being um cared for after my baby before my baby and after and now I listen to the podcast during
night feeds and it gives me real inspiration for the long days of newborn between myself and Nora.
Nora is now six weeks old and she hears your voice all the time.
So keep the recommendations coming.
They are getting me through my early days with my daughter.
Thank you so much, ladies.
Love you.
Oh, that's so nice.
Thank you so much.
And what a beautiful name
nora i really like that oh that's so beautiful oh my gosh it's so exhausting in the early hours
isn't it and you feel so lonely so i'm pleased that you've got us on although i hope she
you know doesn't grow up talking like me well well can you imagine if she grows up talking like me? Well, can you imagine if she grows up talking like me? Or a mix
of the pair of us. Pair of us. That would be like me going, all right, my name is Jo,
but I've got a bit of a sing-songy Welsh accent, but I'm Cockney. Is that what I sound like?
Yeah, it is what you sound like Oh, I can't do Welsh
Oh my God, that sounded quite good
Go on, try it
Try it
Oh my God, that's really good
Oh my God, that's really good
That's so good
Years and years
Oh, well I hope we keep you company in the early hours
Yeah, thank you so much
Yes, and it will get better
She will eventually sleep
I thought you meant the pod will get better
Finally, do you remember us admitting to accidentally wetting ourselves when we were drunk
here's a message from claire with a similar confession hi joe and nat love listening to
your podcasts every week i was peeing myself laughing at you two wetting yourself after a
night out at the club i like nat was in a taxi although i got to the taxi office ordered a taxi Oh, my God.
Oh, my God, what?
But before they told me where it was, it was not trickling.
It was pouring down my jean legs, leaving a puddle in the cab office at the desk.
Oh my God. Then I sat in my piss in the taxi to be met by my mum who asked what happened.
I said, look at the state of me. Some guys just threw two pints down me, mortified. It was over
20 years ago and I've never admitted it till now. Thank you, girls. Keep doing what you're doing. You're blooming brilliant.
Claire from Bedfordshire.
Oh, my gosh, Claire.
I feel for you.
Well, we've both been there.
We've both been there.
We have.
And it was good.
Yeah.
Beer can smell a bit pissy.
Yeah, it can.
And you know, right, my mum, after listening to it,
said she wanted a correction put out there
because I said that
James had had to um unplug unplug he'd had to unplug he'd had to unplug the sink but it wasn't
James I was that drunk I can't even remember who was in the house with me mum said you tell them
that it wasn't James it was me so mum you were the one who unblocked the sink full of sick. Honestly, Sue, I can't wait for us to get together.
She said she really, really feels like you're more her daughter than I am.
Right, what shows are we talking about this week?
Oh, God, it's another big one, isn't it?
It is, it's a massive one.
We're covering Bridgerton on Netflix,
Clarkson's Farm on Amazon Prime
and Irish crime drama Kin on BBC iPlayer.
And may I just say thank you
because two of those were recommendations.
They were, weren't they?
So we stuck to our word and here we go.
Let's talk telly.
First show this week is Bridgerton on Netflix.
We've had a few of you recommend this series,
including this message from Dawn in Kent, right?
Just listening to your new podcast, which I love,
I recommend watching, if you haven't already,
the four new episodes of The New Bridgerton,
which is based around Lady Penelope and Colin.
But it leaves you in suspense,
as got to wait until June to watch what happens next.
The series is just beautiful with the music,
which is up-to-date music with a classical twist,
costumes, and each character has something special about them.
Just easy watching, feel-good drama.
Well, I had never seen any of Bridgerton before.
No.
So I went straight in there with the third series yeah and um and it
started and I was like oh my god it's like Gossip Girl isn't it because if you haven't seen Gossip
Girl well Gossip Girl is all about somebody who so it's a big American school and everything
and it's about somebody who is oh sending messages around on the phone and suddenly you know all the
kids are in school and it goes boof.
And then they get a whole letter about this is what's been happening.
And this person has done that.
And I was like, oh, my goodness.
So Lady Penelope is the one.
So I assume from the first two series that she's always done the paper.
Always done that.
And it's now, I think, come out, hasn't it, between her and her best friend.
Her best friend discovered that she's the one who's been doing the writing and I think they've fallen out.
That's what I've picked up from the first episode
of the third series.
Yeah.
So, well, I enjoyed it.
I did like it.
I thought it was all, you know,
it was all quite beautiful and everything.
I thought the colours were wonderful.
It had a really lovely pastel palette.
Yeah. It looked beautiful. lovely pastel palette. Yeah.
It looked beautiful.
Like the shots, acting was great,
but for me, I just thought
it's a lovely thing to have on
and enjoy.
But I have to say,
it just didn't really take me.
It didn't get me obsessed
with wanting to watch more.
I watched one from Series 1
because I do like to see how they evolve.
Well, yeah, what was that like then?
Because everybody went absolutely mental.
Crazy for it.
Crazy for it.
Yeah, I know it's controversial, but it's okay.
And like I say, it looks absolutely beautiful.
Music's great.
Costumes are great.
I have friends who work in costume on it.
So I can understand why they absolutely love working on it.
Well, yeah.
I thought that all of the costumes and everything were incredible.
Amazing.
And then when Lady Penelope, I think I've watched one and a half or two,
I think it's one and a half episodes,
because I think she then goes and changes what she's wearing, doesn't she?
She changes her colours.
And I think she's going for more of a more dramatic-y type of
look, isn't she?
And she's getting out of her citrus-y type of style.
That's it.
She put the white dress on, didn't she?
I mean, she just looks stunning.
Oh, yeah.
That's amazing.
Yeah.
And to be honest, I think I could have just sat there and just kind of watched Nicola
Coughlin's face all the time.
There's just something about her that's just,
her face is just beautiful.
I'll tell you how I can put it.
If there wasn't any sex in it,
I would think that Joanie would sit and watch it.
Yeah.
Yeah, it didn't grasp me.
Yeah.
It didn't grab me.
Yeah, I started watching and I was kind of like,
well, it's funny because it's really sweet
and it's really lovely, you know,
and they're like, oh my gosh, you know,
because she's in love with him and all of that.
And then suddenly you will get like a really raunchy sex scene in it,
won't you?
Which is kind of like a bit,
I kind of could have done without the sex, which is mad.
I could have done without it.
Yeah, because everybody with Bridgerton has gone on about, oh my God, oh my God, the sex and everything. But it kind of wasn't that for the sex I could have done without it Yeah because everybody with Bridgerton has gone on about
Oh my god the sex and everything
But it kind of wasn't that for me when I was watching it
No or me, I thought it was a bit unnecessary
Yeah I was kind of a bit like
I'm not actually that bothered about it
Because it's so beautiful
And it's lovely to look at
And it is all, you know
You've got the gossip and all of the women
And all of the wigs and the make up It's very camp and I love all of that So you know, like you've got the gossip and all of the women and all of, you know, like... And all of the wigs and the make-up.
It's very camp and I love all of that.
Yeah.
So, you know, that's brilliant.
But...
Yeah, I was...
Yeah, I can't really...
And it is really sweet.
Like when Lady Penelope is, you know,
she's obviously in love with Colin
and, you know, she's wanting all of that to happen
and it's like, oh, you know, and then suddenly,
you know, it goes to then like a sex scene
and I was kind of like oh I'm not really bothered about that I just sort of get back to the market
yeah yeah yeah I'm with you so yeah I think I kind of felt the same as well so anyway for everybody
if you love kind of that kind of period drama but it's a little bit raunchy and it looks really good
and then I describe it and think well why don't I describe it and think, well, why don't I love it?
I don't know why I don't love it.
Because then I describe it and think...
But it is hard, isn't it?
Because, I mean, it is all quite gossip girlish and like, you know,
because it's written by Shonda Rhimes, isn't it?
Who's done like Grey's Anatomy and all of that.
And I'd forgotten about that.
And then when it started, I was like, oh, my God, yeah, I remembered about that.
And so it's all of that type of that. And I'd forgotten about that. And then when it started, I was like, oh my God, yeah, I remembered about that. And so it's all of that type of stuff.
I could imagine sitting down and watching it with,
you know, the kids.
And Eva would absolutely love looking at the costumes
and the gossip and what's happening, you know,
when all of the debutantes are out and everything.
And then suddenly, but they can't watch it
because suddenly, you know,
you've got like somebody doing it on the desk.
Yeah.
And you kind of think, well,
I kind of wish they wouldn't now.
You know?
I'm with you.
And maybe it's because I haven't got full swing right into it,
but I was a bit kind of like, I don't know. That's what I thought.
I think if I sat down with Eliza to watch that now,
I think she'd really enjoy it and I would enjoy it with her.
Yeah.
And it would be something we'd sit and watch together,
a bit of a girly thing.
Yeah, yeah.
So maybe I need to give it another go.
Oh, God, I don't know if I'd sit down and watch it with Eliza.
You'd have to fast forward through this.
I know, but she's nearly 14.
It's not like they've done a load of sex education at school.
But it's probably more mortifying for her, isn't it?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
She can just look the other way, whatever.
Get over it.
I think I haven't
watched enough of it.
I kind of want to go in there
for series one. That's what I mean.
Start it again with Eliza
when I've got a bit more time.
I think it's one that I'll go back to.
Yeah, because it is quite hard
starting at series three, isn't it? Because I think there's been
a lot of history and lots of stuff
that's gone on. We'll probably get lynched for this.
It is so popular.
Oh, my God.
But there you go.
Yeah.
We've all got an opinion.
Yes.
There you are.
But thank you for the recommendation.
Yes.
And I'm going to watch it with my daughter at some point.
So thank you very much.
On to our next one, which is Clarkson's Farm,
which quite a few of you have recommended to us
as it's really, really good comfort telly.
So this is, we're now on the third series of Jeremy Clarkson's Farm.
I've watched the first series from, you know, before,
haven't watched the second.
And then, so now I'm going in and I'm watching the third.
I have watched all the way through.
Have you?
Yes.
What do you think?
I absolutely love it.
People say he's Marmite.
I wouldn't say he's Marmite.
I really like him.
But I would just say you've been a bit of a knobhead in the past.
You know, he's written some really awful things about people.
So I watch the programme and I look at Caleb and the farm
and I love the fact this has really brought the farming life to light.
So you are realising how hard farmers work
and that they have it really, really hard.
Yeah.
I mean, you know, so I've obviously watched the first series,
which I loved.
I thought it was brilliant.
And then starting the third series, oh my God, in the first episode,
when he had to get rid of all of the cows.
And then he went, what's going to happen to Peppa?
And then the fellow went, don't ask questions.
You don't want the answer to it.
I was kind of like, oh, flipping Nora.
And then him and Lisa, arm in arm, watching the pigs go.
Lisa is so nice.
I think she's so lovely.
She's got to be good to part with him.
But I really enjoy it. I love it. I love she's so lovely. Well, she's got to be good to part with him. But I really enjoy it.
I love it.
I love looking at the film.
Oh, my God, I can't believe.
So I'm still, you know, early on in the third series.
The flipping BlackBerry picker.
Oh, my goodness me.
I honestly can't believe that Caleb managed to get it over the wall and straddle it.
But then the wall collapsed.
Oh, I can't believe it.
And I can't believe how young Caleb is.
He's really, really young.
He's so sweet. He's so lovely.
He's so brilliant.
I love him.
And, oh, what's his name?
Oh, the older man.
What's his name?
Who does the walls.
Gerald.
Yes.
Have you seen it yet?
Yeah.
They've just discovered that he's a love him.
And I just, oh, and I really liked it because, I mean, Jeremy's there with Caleb
and they're both mending the wall and they're both just talking together.
I also love Charlie because Charlie turns up
and he's just absolutely deadpan.
Jeremy, what are you doing?
And he always looks smart.
You cannot sell this in the shop.
It's illegal.
And Lisa's just like, what?
And he's like, what's that up there?
Is that a monopoly?
That has not been grown or made within five miles of here.
I do like their rebellion.
I do like them.
I do like Jeremy and Lisa, the fact they don't give a shit.
But, you know, it isn't working out because they had the brilliant restaurant.
The council have shut that down.
So it's also quite nice i think for the joe
public if you like to see that just because he's famous he's being treated exactly the same as
everyone else i mean they're shutting everything down aren't they yeah i do feel sorry for him i
do and did you see his jam but i mean did you see that he didn't weigh any of it i was like oh my
god because he had a nice bit of Black Breeze in there.
I mean, it was looking good.
Income miserable Charlie.
Yeah, incomes in Charlie.
And I was like, isn't it funny that men of like a certain age and, you know, they always like, they'll wear a shirt and then they always like to have, or men of a certain age or dads when they're on holiday or when they're in some sort of thing where they need to be in kind of action so you
might have a fella who's working in the office or you know doing voiceovers or but somehow if
you're somewhere like you know you've got to be into action or you've got to be working or
something like that you're on holiday yeah they always like to have a zip up body warmer or like
zip up type fleece don't they and charlie's always got one of those on always and he always looks
well groomed and really smart.
And he could not believe,
I couldn't believe that Jeremy hadn't measured any of it.
None of it.
Oh, my God.
He said, we don't know what's in there.
We've got to put all the ingredients on the back.
Are there any allergens in there?
Are there any ants or animals in there?
He's like a great big toddler, Jeremy Clarkson.
He is, isn't he?
He just gets all excited and wants to do loads of stuff.
And he's got the most amazing voice.
I just love it when he does the narration and he's like,
so, we started out with a da-da-da.
Hang on a minute, fucking David Attenborough's turned up.
Do you know, as I said that, I started thinking, Jesus.
I didn't know that Sir David Attenborough voice-overed Clarkson's Farm.
As I started speaking, I thought,
Jesus Christ, that's come out of nowhere
and that does sound like David Attenborough.
That's good.
So the penguin walks out onto the snow.
It's more like, last night with my trailer,
I popped out and met Caleb at midnight
and realised it had been fucking raining again.
So we have no potatoes.
Terrible impression.
Oh, my God.
Told you, accents and impressions.
I can do a few.
Oh, God.
But I think it's really good.
I can't wait to carry on watching more.
It just draws you in, doesn't it?
And I'm just like, I've heard that Lisa comes into it more.
I've heard there's something going on with the pigs. the pigs are brilliant oh my god they're so cute oh i can't wait i felt really sad when the cows went and i think it was in the first series
when he he had to take some cows after and i and i don't know you you know he's he's obviously
really bolshy and really you know he's got a really big heart for the animals. He really does for the animals.
Like in the first series when the cows went
and then he went to speak to the camera crew
and he's upset and he turns around and he's like,
oh my God, where have they gone?
And they'd already been done.
They've been gone.
Oh God.
I know.
It's educational as well.
And yeah, I just absolutely love it.
It makes me.
It's feel good telly.
Yeah.
It does make me want to just go on Rightmove
and have a look around and go and buy myself a farm somewhere
and think, right, okay, I'm just going to have some pigs.
Does it really?
Yes!
Doesn't it make you...
No.
Are you serious?
No, I look at it and go, that is really hard work.
He doesn't leave off, he doesn't stop.
Boxing day, he couldn't even be in the pub
or having his dinner, thinking about a board game.
Off he was, feeding the horses, feeding the pigs, feeding the pigs feeding the you know i think i could quite do that once the
kids have grown up i think i could do that i when i watch it it makes me go oh god i just want to
go and get loads of land get myself some pigs get a few sheep get some ducks and then I'll you know smooth them
and James can feed them
oh here we go
now we get into
the crux of it
James will do all the work
and I'll just go
and play amongst the animals
you just want to be Lisa
I do
well I'm already
following her now
to get to
because of her outfit style
I love her clothes
I do too
yeah but I think
she's a flipping hard worker as well, isn't she?
Oh, God, yeah.
Yeah.
No, they're both quite really hard.
And I love their relationship, actually.
They're really sweet together, aren't they?
Yeah.
I like it.
I'd recommend people to watch it.
It's a great big fact, yes.
And even if you don't really like Jeremy Clarkson,
that sort of melts away.
It does, doesn't it?
Because the show's really, really good.
Yeah.
You can watch Clarkson's Farm on Amazon Prime. So next we're going on to Kin. We've had so many recommendations. My mother has
recommended this to me. Her and dad loved it. And so I've been wanting to watch this for a while.
My niece, Elia, said it's the best thing she has ever watched. She watches a lot of telly.
But she said, she loved it. She said, I can't believe she has ever watched. My God. She watches a lot of telly. But she said, absolute, she loved it.
She said, I can't believe you've not watched it yet.
I can't believe it.
I've heard that a lot.
Now, I've only watched episode one.
Me too.
Good.
Oh, well, there's going to be spoilers here.
What do you think of the end of episode one?
I just couldn't believe it.
I love the acting.
I feel like every character
they've just got it right yes i love the mother yeah i just love it to be honest i just love
ireland and i love the irish accent so i'm in yeah from the very beginning i'm in it's so it's
so good i think the first episode they have just planted I loved it right because you go into it
and it's quite clear that it's this Irish family yes they're all dealing in crime and then one of
the like brothers Michael yeah Michael has just come out of prison and and what I loved is that
the first episode goes along stuff happens but kind of not that much you know but oh my god they've just planted
little seeds
for everyone
all the way through
that I was like
oh my god
is she
she obviously
is you know
the mum
obviously has had a fling
with this man
or she's in love with him
or there's feelings
something's happened
definitely something's happened
what's gonna happen there
what's gonna happen with the son
is he gonna you know
is he going to university
is he whatever
what's gonna happen
with that other you know
son or you know brother or whatever the younger one who's gone and university? Is he whatever? What's going to happen with that other, you know, son or, you know, brother or whatever?
The younger one.
Well, the younger one.
He's gone off to do that.
He's got the girlfriend.
So many different friends.
The girlfriend's lied to the dad.
Yes.
He's got the dad.
It is just.
I love Michael.
He's so, he comes out and he seems so sweet.
I feel like.
And he's so lovely.
But my God, he's so silent and quiet.
But you know, he could kick the shit out of someone.
But also, now that's happened, at the end.
I can't believe it.
I reckon Michael goes psycho.
I think he probably is going to.
Something's going to happen, isn't it?
I loved it.
I thought it was brilliant.
It's one of the best first episodes of anything I've watched.
I wasn't expecting it to be the way it was at the end.
I mean, suddenly the thing happens at the end
and then, you know, Michael is on his knees
and trying to deal with the situation
and I thought that that was the situation.
I was like, oh my God, oh my God, like that.
And then suddenly it's like, boom, no,
it was a bit extra as well.
And I was just like, oh my God, oh my God. my god yeah no i really loved it and the only reason
i didn't continue to watch it is because i want to watch it with mark oh because i thought i'm
not watching two series of this it's a i want to get home from work with him yes and it's one of
them eat your dinners we've got kin tonight we've got kin tonight so i've had to wait so that's the
only reason i didn't watch any more than the first one
because I was in bed with Bo feeding.
She'd fallen asleep.
So I was like, right, I'm going to quickly carry on watching this.
Watched it.
And then I thought, right, I'm really tired now.
I'm just going to have to go to sleep because I want to enjoy this.
I want to enjoy this.
If you went down the wildlife, doing your wildlife documentary,
you would have been up till four o'clock.
You would have finished it.
I would have.
Do you remember those days when that's what I used to do?
Can't do it anymore.
Can't do it anymore.
I don't know how you did it in the first place, Jo.
I'd already finished the first Flippin' Series.
I can't believe this was on last year and I missed it.
I know, neither can I.
You can watch both series on iPlayer and I think that I certainly am going to be doing that.
100%.
Get yourself onto Kin.
It is absolutely mind-blowing.
Right, I think that we should hear what recommendations our listeners have got for us.
I think so too. Let's listen to this voice note from Sarah with her recommendation. Oh, my goodness. How good is Blue Lights? We've watched it.
We've finished it at your recommendation.
And it is absolutely brilliant.
We're just going on to series two now.
But you've got to watch The Gathering.
That was a Channel 4 show.
And again, that is just absolutely brilliant.
Take care.
Love to you both.
Bye.
Oh, we'll have to check out The Gathering. Thank you, Sarah. Gathering. Thank to you both. Bye. Oh, we'll have to check out the gathering.
Thank you, Sarah. Gathering.
Right, finally, let's hear this voice note from Adele with another
recommendation for us. I want to
make a recommendation now.
Something I've been roaring
with laughter at is
Rob Rinder
and Rylan.
Their grand tour across Italy and oh my god it is absolutely amazing.
I haven't laughed so much in such a long time and feeling quite moved as well
but what a lovely relationship they have.
So definitely worth a watch if you just need a bit of an escapism.
There's a little bit of culture on there as well, which is brilliant,
but definitely worth a watch.
Keep doing what you're doing, ladies.
Thank you.
Thank you so much, Adele.
I've watched one already.
Is it good? I love it.
I love Ryland.
You know, we were, you know, I'd say mate of mine, TV mate of mine.
And he's fantastic.
And I watched one where they were, you know, obviously they're in Italy,
but they talk about art.
They talk about drag in the one I watched.
Rob gets dressed up.
It's really moving.
They go through the town.
They go through Venice.
And it's all about pride. And, you up. It's really moving. They go through the town. They go through Venice and it's all about pride and, you know,
it's just wonderful
and their relationship
is brilliant
and it is just so funny
and it's all set in Italy
so it's beautiful
and it's just an easy,
brilliant watch.
Oh, can we do it?
I would love to do it.
It's brilliant
because I've only seen one
because we've had so much to watch.
Yeah.
So I would absolutely
love to watch a few more.
Oh, cool.
But it's really, really good.
Oh, thanks for the recommendation, Adele.
Thank you.
Let's definitely do that one.
As always, thank you so much for your messages and voice notes.
We really appreciate it.
So we've now got a call out for our bonus ep of What Shall We Watch?

I know, but that was like about...
How many of these have we done?
A lot.
Was it like 13 weeks ago?
Nine weeks ago?
Yeah, no, you're right.
It is quite a while ago.
Last time I cried must have been about nine weeks ago.
Yeah.
Well, I think that that's enough from us this week.
Me too.
We always love hearing from you,
